We stayed at an Airbnb around the corner so we came here in the morning for coffee and food. The coffee is amazing, but the food is definitely not worth it. I highly recommend grabbing a cup of Joe for the day here. My husband and I didn't really enjoy our breakfast picks though. The egg tasted fake. One of the baristas was eating behind the bar while licking their fingers and, without washing their hands, started making people's drinks. That's pretty revolting if you ask me. Also they had their personal bag laying on the counter where food and drinks are served and kept going through it, taking stuff out of it. Drink and ambiance were fine, but I don't want to have some slob's saliva all over something I am bringing to my mouth. Thankfully a different barista made my drink, but I feel so bad for anyone being served by the other one. read more

Came here around 11am for food and coffee. There is ample seating, especially for people working on their laptops. I wanted a pastry but there were only a few left in the case and the ones that were there looked very sad. We ordered two lattes, the avocado toast and the quiche. Our coffees came out relatively quickly. Our food, on the other hand, took 25 minutes after our drinks. I'd understand if they were busy or if the dishes were complicated, but they were not. They just had one person working for both coffee and food, and while she was making our food, a customer waiting to order left. The avocado toast was a bit salty, and only came with one pickled onion piece. The quiche was appalling. For one tiny piece with a pathetic side salad, I paid over $10. Ridiculous. read more

This is a really cute spot. I came here after having a rough morning and the barista was really sweet. I was looking for my wallet in my purse and took a long time finding it. I told her I was at the airport yesterday and everything was a mess, and she said "The wallet in the bottom of the bag is the worst." It might be a little thing but I really appreciated some grace in that moment. Also, the cappuccino with almond milk I got was amazing (like - really really good), the space is large and inviting, and there were plenty of seats when I came in on a rainy Friday morning. Almond milk was Califia Farms barista blend which I love way more than Silk with all the extra ingredients. I did not see many pastries - it says "doughnuts Thurs & Sun" - apparently they sell out on Thursday since I was one of the first people here for Friday. read more

So I have this thing where I like to visit coffee shops and I have an embarrassingly long list on my phone. I happened to be in Lambertville and remembered that I saved Luminary Coffee so I went for a visit. This is definitely better than the other coffee shop in Lambertville BY FAR. I won't callout the other shop but if you're looking for actual quality coffee and a good vibe , come here. It's definitely quieter on this side of town but the space is beautiful and the coffee was delicious and roasted in house. I got an iced oat milk latte which was super smooth and delicious. Lots of people just working and chilling here, definitely a great spot to spend a few hours. I also loved that they asked you if you were sitting or taking it to go and actually gave you a real glass , I hate having to go cups when I'm sitting inside it's so wasteful. Really great counter service and they know how to make a good cup of coffee and any iteration of your specific order . The baristas are obviously trained well here and are a diverse interesting group . The baked good assortment are pretty good across the board but later in the day they aren't so fresh . It's a really relaxed environment to have a meeting or read a book . read more

Newly opened in the space that once housed Rojo's Roastery, Luminary is a worthy successor to that excellent coffee shop. You'll find, as I did, a warm and friendly welcome and delicious, fairly priced espresso. There's also an excellent macchiato, just colored with foam, on offer, and various teas and drip coffees. The limited array of baked goods looks delicious (spoiler alert: I looked but didn't taste, since I'd had breakfast). Luminary was so new when I visited that they didn't have a website or any presence on the web, though that's sure to change quickly as they're discovered. read more

Lots of space and no wait--great alternative to Union, which is always mobbed, for the people who want to relax or get work done. Pastries and things, but no real "meal" food. Sort of an aseptic Apple Store vibe--reminds me of the Blue Bottle in Bushwick. Lots of Early Bird alumni. read more

Finally, a rare oasis of calm in Lambertville. Luminary is a much needed contemplative coffee spot for those who seek a light-filled cafe to savor high quality coffee, teas, and artisan baked goods, but WITHOUT the hipster barrister bustle and the cacophony of dishes and loud music that has become de rigeur. Maybe I am showing my age, but this place is the Zen I was looking for, a hop skip and a jump from Menhla Kadampa Meditation Center. My friend and I were able to have a 2 hour conversation without interruption by anything or anyone. All around us other folks spoke quietly, or worked with headphones. I love it. I really try to like this shop. I want to like this shop. Alas, it just keeps disappointing me. An apparent recent loss of barista talent hasn't helped. Example: on a recent Fri. morning I am the only person at the counter with two staff working behind the bar. Its clearly a slow, quite time on the floor. I ask for a pour over, only to be told it would be at least 15 min. wait. When I plead my case that they don't seem busy and it really should not take THAT long, I'm given several contrived and transparent reasons for what I can only conclude was a cover for the "barista"'s disinterest or shear laziness and lack of customer service training. Sad excuse for a coffee professional in what could be a go-to local shop. Please, please live up to your potential. Your coffee (and customers) deserve more. End note: I settle for an American that but for the quality of coffee going into the cup, would have been mediocre at best. read more
