I've been to several diners in the area, but Golden Corner stands out with its varied menu and central location. We were warmly welcomed and seated right away. Our waiter took our drink order, and I opted for the Western Omelette with a side of bacon. The omelette was well-filled, and I appreciated the option to choose how my bacon was cooked I chose crispy. My boyfriend ordered 2 eggs over easy, sausage, and potatoes. It too was also a hit. Our breakfast was satisfying, and the coffee was hot. This place is neat and clean with booth, counter, or table seating. I'm going straight into a review of their onion rings because that was what I remember the most. The onion rings were no joke. Our waiter brought them to the table fresh out of the fryer, wrapped up in parchment paper. Tasty batter and bread crumbs used. Nice and crispy on the outside, and ooey-gooey-perfectly-cooked onion on in the inside. *drool* The rest was ok; just not as memorable. My partner liked his eggplant parmesan over linguine. I think I ordered an open face sandwich or burger... All I remember were those onion rings. Legit. Wait, I also remember the decor. This is a classic diner. Nostalgic vibes. Loved that. I just moved near this restaurant and am glad to have this gem of a diner in my neighborhood! I got the biscuits and gravy, my first job was at Ihop...so I take my biscuits seriously! My wife had the gallo pinto and I had the cinnamon raisin french toast with a side of scrapple. The dinner was crowded, but not overly noisy. Our food was good. Very, very bad. My scrambled eggs were watery like they use one of those artificial egg products in a carton. Definitely not fresh eggs. The bacon was cold like they precooked it yesterday and just put it on the plate. The hash browns were just mush like mashed potatoes that were not mashed enough. There was no flavor to them. No visible onion or peppers and no crisp on the hash browns. The coffee had a weird taste. My friend said it too. My friend's french toast had the weirdest color. It was too yellow. They probably use the same carton egg product that has artificial coloring to make it look more yellow. You can't fool me. I've made french toast with a brioche and eggs straight from a chicken. For this garbage they charged us $24. On top of all of these poor ingredients and poor cooking technique, the food was cold when it got to our table. It seems like it was sitting back there waiting to be picked up. I will never go here again. I'm actually shocked that this place gets 3.8 stars. Yes. This is my third review of this establishment. It use to be my go to diner but it's dropped it's rating based on my last couple visits. The food is still good and some of the staff is still great. One waiter was just down right a failure. Numerous times you have failed to show any improvement. I've had to ask other wait staff for assistance.You need a personality to be a waiter. Your customer should not be treated like an after thought. This older man has the personality of a slug. He would be better suited as a mop boy in a seedy movie theater. Don't take any drink orders then argue with me about how service is suppose to be. If my dinner shows up before my drinks and salad something is wrong. No it was not busy. You sir should be ashamed. Then to tell me that what you gave me is what I ordered when I've been dining here long before you started working here. If your still working there here are some pointers.. 1. Greet your customers with some kind of energy. Introduce yourself. Ask if you can get them started with a beverage. Hell try recommending something. 2. Return with the beverages before you decide to ask what they want. Try this. Do you need a couple minutes to look over the menu? You can even recommend a special if you have actually tried it. Do Not say. what do you want. 3. Soups and salads come before the entree unless they request otherwise. Keep in mind there are "larger" salads that are considered meals. 4. Check on your table. Last night my family met to celebrate. Generally we have had good results and good food. Unfortunately last night the broiled filet of sole was extremely salty. This morning my sister called me to tell me she got sick last night and was throwing up. Yes she was one who had the filet of sole. Historically our food has been good and unfortunately it appears the attending chef allowed this to happen. We love this family owned diner however this was very disappointing and we hope this is rectified before people stop patronizing. One more experience. The week before I ordered the fired filet of sole. When my order came out it was just that on the plate 2 small filed filet of sole, nothing else. Wouldn't you think the waiter or the chef would have questioned this? I had to suggest to the waiter that there was vegetables and a carb missing. I've lived in the vicinity of Golden Corner for many years and for some reason have never been here. Today was my first time here and what a gem! This place is a diner but not your typical diner. I'm a stickler for cleanliness when I go out to eat and this place nailed it. I noticed it right away. It's family owned and operated which I love. The food was regular diner food and don't get me wrong it was excellent but it's not about the food it's about the service at this spot. That means everything. The waitress was super nice and friendly and even introduced me to the owner as this was my first time here. Can't remember the waitresses name or owners name but they were very nice. The staff was friendly with keeping your coffee filled and readily available for anything you needed. I like this place and will be back to possibly try lunch or dinner. A great local spot. I have been enjoying breakfast, lunch and dinners here for decades. The staff is always friendly helpful and working hard. It's true definition of a Greek fun diner. Located in Bound Brook the menu has opened to include some Central American cuisines but nothing compares to the ability to have breakfast any time you want. The pastitsio and gyros are great. Every Sunday cream of turkey soup. It's nothing extraordinary but a good bowl of soup with good flavors. We love taking the boys for lunch as they enjoy going to the diner. We had breakfast at the Golden Corner on Sunday morning. It is located on Route 28 in Bound Brook and has a lot of street and off street parking. The place was crowded and we had a short wait. The cashier was referring to the manager as mom, so I'll go out on a limb here and say it's a family run business. It is a typical diner atmosphere and the room was very clean. We were served coffee and tea. My wife had an omelet and I ordered eggs over medium. My eggs were a bit undercooked and runny and the potatoes were cooked with almost no fat or seasoning resulting in very little taste. The very good sausage made up for the rest. My wife got a super good omelet with pieces of bacon and cheese throughout. You made my wife happy so you get a fourth star. read more

FOOD I almost always get the gallo pinto (beans, eggs, cheese, plantains), while my family gets staples like waffles, eggs, and pancakes. No one leaves hungry + good prices = good value. SERVICE Always friendly and reasonably prompt. AMBIANCE Completely renovated and upgraded in winter of 2014, and now with free wifi (ask for the password). Above average without being pretentious. You would think it's first come first serve, but I guess either my nationality or my young appearance deserve a low level of customer service by the cashier/host. The couple behind us were nice enough to say that we were first in line, and we were basically right in front of the cashier so you would really have to make a huge mistake to overlook this issue. This is such a fantastic, family-friendly place! We had a family celebration we wanted to do over brunch and everyone at the Golden Corner was so accommodating and friendly. I called in advance and thought they would tell me they couldn't accommodate a party like ours, but they had no hesitation. We had a very large group and the restaurant was busy, but they were nothing but patient with us. Even as busy as they were, our waitress (Diana) went out of her way to make our visit fun and to help us celebrate our special occasions. On top of everything, the food was great!
