I absolutely love Golden Corner! The food is consistently good. They start every lunch and dinner meal with a complimentary pickled salad. If you are there when they have the cream of turkey soup or mushroom barley I would highly recommend either. They also make amazing french toast and an awesome cheeseburger. My husband loves the Greek food, especially their tiropite. The reason I have given it 4 stars is because of the limited dessert selection. When I do decide to order, they are often out of the pie I would like and do not carry chocolate pudding (which, to me, is a diner staple). It's been a while since being here, but everything on the menu was great. We got plenty of refills on the coffee and the quality of the food was great. All their desserts are made on site and look yummily scrumptious! Our server was great for making recommendations and made sure we were satisfied with our meals. Every time that I have been to this diner I have had an amazing experience. I will go out of my way to eat here. I have had sandwiches both hot and cold, salads and breakfast. Everything I have here is as good as what I have had here before or better. Their salads are my favorite items on the menu. Usually, I have either the Chef Salad or the Greek Salad. These salads are HUGE. I ALWAYS end up taking atleast half of the salad home with me and get atleast two meals out of them. They also serve a home made health salad with everyhing you order. Clean, nice atmosphere, and friendly staff. I've never had a bad meal here. Their omelettes are good and my go-to if I am there for breakfast (spinach, tomato, and onion). I am super picky about home fries and that is the one thing that I am not crazy about it-they aren't bad but they aren't amazing either. Their chicken orzo soup is absolutely delicious and I order it every time they have it. I am also a fan of their chicken parmesan dinner (they actually serve more chicken than pasta which is rare) and quesadillas (great flavor and not greasy). My boyfriend is a huge fan of their steaks and lemon meringue pie. The prices are reasonable especially given the portion sizes. I prefer this diner than other nearby ones (such as A Time To Eat, Bridgewater, or Somerset). If you can't find a spot to park in the small lot, there is usually no problem finding a spot on the street. read more

I really want to rate this diner higher but, no matter how nice and apologetic the hostesses/managers are, the service here has declined rapidly. The food is very good, I can't say anything bad about that or the quickness in which they seat you. The last 4 times I've been here though, that's where the positive comments end. Each time (and this is a local place for me, so I want to support them and give them an opportunity to correct an issue they're very well aware of) I'm there they don't seem to want to do anything about the painfully slow service - other than keep apologizing. So, I have to apologize that they're not getting my business any longer. This last time, (I just walked out after paying my bill as I write this) seated quickly, someone who was the manager or owner maybe asked me what I was drinking, didn't see a waitress for some time. When I did see the apparent waitress, she noticed that there were a couple of new tables for her ( we were right across from one another) but instead of asking myself and the other table, she only asked the other table "who was seated first" - to which they said "we were all seated at the same time" (I may have let out a light 'wow' when I heard that), so she just took their word for it, and their order. Now, I'm not going to make a scene but I was seated a couple of minutes prior and she literally paid me no mind to even bother including me in that discussion, she stood next to that table and addressed them alone. Had she been anywhere on that floor for the 10+mins everyone had been waiting, she probably would've realized that pretty easily also, it's not peak time & the place is slow. I'm also a VERY good tipper, so tipping less than 15% (tipping less than 20% is rare for me) hurts me but, again, the issue of slow service is clearly well known here and they've done nothing to resolve that so I can't support & encourage that anymore. I hate writing this as the staff are all so nice and friendly, but the food we just ate quite frankly was barely edible. I hope this will be seen as constructive criticism and not just heartless bashing. Pork roll egg and cheese, asked of 2 that one have the pork roll slightly well done - both sandwiches came back with charred black pork roll. I'll chalk that up to my mistake for ever mentioning well done for my sandwich, but they applied their intense inedible version of well done to both sandwiches. Blueberry muffin had no blueberries, save a couple around the edge. And the muffin itself was beyond dry but actually really old and the reason for bothering with this review was the strange/bad after taste that it left us with. Something is really wrong. Mozzarella sticks were also pretty bad and also left a strange aftertaste. read more

This is a great diner. I tried a bagel with lox for the first time here, and it's a unique flavor. I ate here one day last week for breakfast with my girlfriend, and we enjoyed it. This time I tried the corn beef hash with eggs and home fries. Lucky for me the waitress told me there was still some corn beef hash that was made with the corned beef from st.pattys day. It came out and looked as delicious as it tasted. Nice and crispy without being overdone. The home fries were good too. Eggs were a little undercooked so I just ate the yoke. Still overall It was a very satisfying breakfast. I should have taken a picture. Our waitress was very nice. There were three people walking around with coffee pots asking if anyone needed refills. Which was a little much but still appreciated. The place was packed right after we got there. I would recommend this place. read more

I started going to this place recently... I have to say the food and location are not bad compared to the other diners in the area. I always have been polite and respectful with them. But let me tell you a story... watch if you try to exchange your money for tip or ordering food by phone, can happen you'll end talking with a disrespectful kid. Long story short, today I went to have breakfast and my bill was about $14, coffee and omelette. I went to pay and I usually pay with my card and leave cash tip. I gave the owner (mid fifty or sixty lady.. idk) $20 cash asking for an exchange, she gave one $10 and two $5.. so I asked her if she could give ONES for tip. Not even the time to put the other $15 in my wallet that she took back those $5 in ones like a Superhero...I said wait!! But she didn't reopen the cash register and saying that "oh, I'm so fast" What does that mean.. I HAVE NO IDEA? I didn't want make a scene and I left. I called her after explaining the situation and she was very rude, wanted to be right, etc. etc.. I'm not giving you $5 tip on a $14 bill ma'am!!! Unbelievable. Chicken fingers burnt and the size of chicken nuggets. Spoke to manager and she couldn't care less. We ordered the food to go and she said it is our responsibility to check the food before we leave.....I'm sorry that's the diners job not mine. I expect to get what I order I shouldn't have to do their job n check to make sure it's correct. She Didn't offer a discount or anything there are plenty of other diners in the area, this one is the closest to my house but I will drive the extra time never to go here again. Quite possibly the worst dinner we have ever been to. Utensils were not clean and the place overall seems unclean. The food tasted horrible and it's very hard for a place to mess up breakfast. My wife order had to order "scrambled eggs" three times for them to get it right! The waitress show ups with an omelet, than a sunny side up, and could not understand what "scrambled eggs" are? For more than 10 years this has been my go-to place for excellent diner food. The bacon here is unmatched: always crispy, not thin, not burned. I've come here for a quick bite, a leisurely brunch, a girls' lunch, a late dinner. The food, while typical diner fare, is atypical in that it's better prepared. The salad greens are always fresh and crisp. The breakfast eggs are always prepared to our liking. And their staff hasn't changed much since I found the place, over 10 years ago--and that says something about the people who run it. The menu is smaller than most diners' but this I don't consider this a detraction--just the opposite, actually. And the fact that I can bring a bottle of prosecco at brunch can quickly elevate a late Sunday morning to a special occasion for no reason at all. Accommodating staff, great food, easy parking and crazy cleanliness make this a winner on my short list of places to eat. read more

I called to pick up a Senior meal for a neighbor who was ill. She is a regular customer there. The waitress gave me a very difficult time about getting the order to go. I asked her why? She put me on hold for about 4 minutes, probably hoping I would hang up. When she came back she said "ok, but you can't have coffee or tea" which is included in the senior price. I mean what is the cost of a cup....5 cents. How rude not to include that for a senior. 90% of their business is Seniors. And then to add insult to injury she fussed over giving a dessert. Remarkably the meatloaf was half the amount she has gotten in house. It was very very thinly sliced. No customer service. No respect for long time customers and basically a rip off for seniors. That 5 cent coffee cup, the rude waitress and the small portion rates a - 10 review. Too many other places to choose from. read more

My husband and I enjoyed a nice breakfast at the Golden Corner. I had the Mediterranean omelette which wad good but could have used a little more feta cheese. My husband had eggs and sausage. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage was tasty. Our waitress was very attentive with coffee refills and making sure everything was fine. Several times I have ordered takeout from this diner, I've always come in to pick it up at the scheduled time, I'm always respectful, polite and friendly towards her, and she in turn always looks & behaves in such an annoyed manner, as if you're imposing on her by buying their food. My husband and I were in the area and wanted to grab a quick dinner. We stopped here because there was a sign outside of the diner that said, "Voted top 10 Diners." The Health Food salad was good. I ordered the Brisket sandwich with fries and a cup of soup. Soup was okay. The Sandwich, however, was a huge salt bomb! And it was drenched in gravy. One bite and that was it. I waved the waiter over and said, "I don't like this. Please take it away." He grabbed my plate and walked away. I was waiting to be asked if I wanted anything else. Ok love this place. I have trouble getting egg whites the way I like them. They do it right here just ask. I want my egg whites fried not scrambled. Theres a big difference. I cant understand when I go to a place and stress, Please ask them not to scramble my egg whites. I've heard we can't do that. why? Crack 3 eggs, hold the yolk, and fry them don't scramble. If your use egg beaters out of a carton, just pour out, dont scramble. i have walked out of places that can't do this for me. Its simple. Well thumbs up here! The perfect FRIED egg.
