The decor here is really rustic and family-friendly. The best part - their rice croquettes! It's so crispy and yummy with the broccoli, sausage, cheese and rice mixed in together and then deep fried. The fra diavolo dish came with ample mussels, which was nice because most places give only 5 mussel pieces and that's it. At bolu they did not hold back. Next time I'll have to try their pizza as the brick oven pizza looked really good and yummy as the workers were cooking it up! read more

A good neighborhood spot that has a warm, hospitable atmosphere. The ambience feels classic with unique Lee vintage pictures on the wall. Staff are friendly, and there's a combination of barstool plus table seating. The food is decent, but not stellar. I ordered the salmon entrée which came saturated in glaze, but had ample portion size to keep me full. The pizzas are really good and they offer vegetarian plus gluten-free options. The nice thing about this restaurant is there's plenty of space to sit so if you have children, you won't feel obligated to apologize to neighbors are higher than average noise levels! Trattoria Bolu was such a great experience. From the moment that we met our server, Leighann, we enjoyed a wonderful meal. She was working so hard, trying to serve customers outside and inside, and we appreciated her effort and professionalism. Our meatball appetizer was very tasty, had lots of marinara sauce, the perfect amount of cheese, and large enough to share. The minestrone soup was also good and the perfect portion. Our mint infused lemonade was very refreshing and we ordered more than one, cause it was that good. We also shared the large Margherita Pizza, with the multi grain crust, and could not finish it. The pizza? Incredible. Like, write-home-about-it, tell-your-grandkids level good. Easily one of the best I've had. If I could've taken it home and tucked it into bed, I would've. The service? Yikes. We came in mid-afternoon--just me and my 4-year-old on a wholesome pizza mission--and were greeted with the warmth of a DMV waiting room. Our server - who honestly must have been an owner or something - looked like he'd rather be anywhere else, barely spoke, didn't check in, and served us like we'd personally offended his ancestors. Even my kid whispered, "Why didn't he like us?" And this is a child who thinks everyone is his best friend. Ouch. It's a shame, because the food is next-level amazing. But the vibe? Pricy but good pizza. I've had their pasta dishes which have been fantastic. This review is their pizza and cannolis. I ordered both and it's made well is a little pricy for what you get. I like the pizza, especially the crust but didn't find the cheese as good as other pizzas (maybe should have tried a margarita or something else). The cannolis were really good with a lot of filling (chocolate, not the usual cream) and a strawberry was a nice dessert to end the meal. They have numerous signs for masks/social distancing and sanitizer. They promote the use of quality ingredients and who doesn't like a wood fire pizza. If you wish to have a pizza with your own wine this is the place to go. It's a BYOB place. This establishment offers pasta and other Italian foods. However, it is not really a restaurant per se. It's a glorified pizzeria with lots of variety to choose from. Although this fits squarely under pizza place and not a trattoria, the pizzas are apparently very good. The fig, arugula, and goat cheese pizza is delicious. The cannolis are decent, but not excellent by any stretch of imagination. There are bakeries with better cannolis. The affogato coffee is not very good. The service is overall mediocre and the staff not very attentive and nothing out of extraordinary. I noticed that the staff was confused with the orders and some appeared to be rushing me out, whereas I was trying to consume more; yet, the ticket had to be changed at least once. Note that the place was not busy and it was a Thursday. There is a food bar with numerous appetizers and snacks. The ambience is good with relaxing music in the background, even though the lightening is not that good as they lit the place at night with small candles next to flammable materials which can be hazardous. In fact, one of the candles caught on fire. Therefore, the place needs a safety check for the tables. If you want a low budget Italian generic place you should try this one, but caveat emptor specially if you go with kids. read more

First things first, my review is based on the very grumpy old white guy who seems to be the host / manager / owner of the place. The food has always been decent/ good at Bolu. We have always mostly done take out but yesterday me and my girls decided to have our ladies night at Bolu. Reservations were made, we showed up on time. The host is RUDE. He has this weird vibe / energy about him, like our presence was something that bothered him. His actually frowned when we said hi, we have a reservation.. He was pushy when he came to take our order, almost judging us coz we were ordering for the table ( am talking large pizza and pasta , 3 appetizers and 2 desserts ) this was the 5 of us. He made us feel very uncomfortable. The waitress was sweet and the 3 stars are for the food and her attitude. She was nice. We did leave with a 20% tip for her and I personally won't be going back to Bolu or recommending it to anyone. Please go back to the basics and learn to be kind, warm and welcoming to anyone who walks in that restaurant. The menu along with the specials sounded very intriguing. The service was appreciated too. They start the meal off with bread with a sundried tomato and goat cheese spread. So delicious, I returned twice while in town a few days. I tried both a small, thin, crispy pizza as well as a crab salad. I loved the presentation, taste and lightness of the salad, with plenty of fresh greens that it was almost overflowing with freshness on my plate. You can bring your own wine in to enjoy as well. This is a nice place and the service is very friendly. The food is pretty pricey for what it is and the lunch specials are not a good deal. At $13.50, the prosciutto panini was a disappointment - the bread was very very hard, and the flavors just didn't do it for me. The salad was very fresh and there was a pretty good portion, but the dressing was unexciting (I think it might have just been lemon?). My friend got a lunch pizza and it was TINY!! And very thin crust... the whole pizza was probably equivalent to eating half a normal slice of pizza and I could tell he was very unfulfilled. DO NOT TIP for online. Terrible service. Food is good but service is awful. Sat In the parking lot waiting to be notified after ordering online. It says they will notify, They have always notified. After waiting and waiting we went in. They forgot to notify us and did not apologize. No explanation, no apology and no hot food. Wanted us to take the cold food. And I had already put in the online ordering system a 20% tip which can't be undone. 20% to put a box of pizza on a counter and leave it there.
