I have never , nor has anyone I've been there with had a mediocre meal- it's high quality food. The thing that really sold me , outside of the food and experience, on Valentine's Day my wife messed up the reservation. When we got there we were not on the list. Cafe Venezia is one of our family's favorite Italian restaurants. All the dishes here are really fresh, flavorful, and good! My current favorite is the stuffed salmon. The interior is classy and looks new and clean. There's free parking in a big private lot right next to the building. I like that it's BYOB. We enjoy talking with the personable owner and waitstaff. The Owner, Eddie, was very willing to accommodate our special food (GF) requests and work with us for the party. The room worked out well and we were able to get in earlier to decorate. The place is spotless and feels new though a little cold on the decor. Superb service greets you through the door and continues through the meal. The menu is big enough for anyone to find something on it they like, and the portion sizes are big enough where you might be taking some home with you. The Calamari Venezia - Fried Calamari, Homemade Balsamic Reduction, Hot Cherry Peppers, Sweet Sausage, could have been a notch up with the cherry peppers though this was still a pleasant rendering of my favorite style of calamari. I had the GNOCCHI QUATTRO FORMAGI - Four cheese gnocchi, touch of pesto, for my main course, and it was indeed very cheesy! I really enjoyed it! The BYOB is nice. We've been exploring Italian restaurants in our area and realized we had not tried this one! It's BYOB with easy parking out front located in Martinsville across the street from Hills of Herat. The service here was so friendly and warm and we liked all of our dishes (calamari, veal and pasta bolognese). Thr calamari was good with the balsamic glaze but a little soggy. The star was for sure the tortellini bolognese and the portions were very generous. I wish the ambiance was a little more cozy as it felt a bit too grey to me but overall we enjoyed our dinner here! read more

Food is very important when rating a restaurant however so is your experience. From the moment we walked in we felt like family at Café Venezia. The restaurant wasn't too loud very clean and the staff was so friendly. We came with our nine-month-old and they were happy to accommodate a baby being there which we really appreciated. The food is very authentic Italian nice size portions and came out in a timely manner. The Venezia salad was fresh and they split it for us no problem. I ordered the zuppa and it was really good and they were happy to accommodate me not wanting pasta with my dish. My husband's entrée was also very good. What I really liked is you could choose to eat on the healthier side or sometimes at Italian restaurants you're locked in to overindulging. Based on the five star reviews we tried Cafe Venezia last night for dinner and my son's celebration. The atmosphere was nice, even with several large parties it wasn't too loud. The waiters are very pleasant and accommodating, and the tables were nicely distanced. There were 2 standout dishes, the carpaccio and the four cheese gnocchi. For appetizers, we ordered the carpaccio, fried calamari, clams, and squash blossoms. The calamari was heavily, breaded, overcooked, and very chewy. It's a safe guess they were frozen. One of our favorite things is stuffed squash blossoms, and we were happy to see them bring four as the portion size. These were also heavily breaded, the ricotta filling really didn't have any flavor and the accompanying Gorgonzola sauce did nothing to elevate the flavors. Had the calamari and squash blossoms been lightly battered they would've been much better. The clams were described as served in a garlic wine sauce with a "touch of marinara", but they came out swimming in red sauce, and were very sandy and gritty. In fairness, it was a nice quantity for an appetizer portion. The carpaccio was a very nice surprise... Very thinly sliced delicious beef and a generous portion of arugula salad on top. Our entrées were the gnocchi, rigatoni and the linguine with clam sauce. All were a nice portion size, and we especially enjoyed the gnocchi. The rigatoni was average with the sauce lacking in flavor. The linguine with clam sauce smelled delicious, but we were unable to taste either wine or garlic in the sauce, and the clams were inedible... overcooked and very sandy. The waiter was accommodating and offered to replace the entree but not comp it. The brownie ala mode for dessert was delicious. The brownie came out nice and hot and the ice cream was the perfect accompaniment. It's very rich and perfect for sharing. Overall, the service and ambience were nice, but the food was inconsistnt and mostly underwhelming. read more

Appetizers we ordered off the specials list: Burrata - omg to die for.... prosciutto and drizzles of balsamic was sooooooo good Kale Salad - this was so tasty. Mango slices, roasted beets, roasted peppers, and crumbled goat cheese was delicious Entrees: all delicious Pollo Rossini (special) was pounded chicken breast wrapped with a thin slice of eggplant parm breaded) - perfectly cooked Salmon mustard with asparagus, other veggies and roasted potatoes. The mustard sauce was a bit tangy but we still devoured it. My favorite: Fusili Mama Mia Pasta with shrimp, mushrooms in a light broth.... pasta was so FRESH and al dente.... it was really good. Light sauce... didn't feel heavy at all. Desserts: Why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars: Chocolate souflee was good not the best....waiter told us he was going to put the pistachio ice cream on the side because they ran out of vanilla ice cream but they ended up putting the pistachio on top of the souflee and pistachio does not go so well with this specific dessert.... it has to be vanilla! This place is a bit hard to spot given that it is located in a cluster of other businesses, but definitely not one to miss! Cafe Venezia has some of the best Italian food in the area. Let me start by saying I apologize for the lengthy review but there are just too many good things to say about this place and felt it was important to touch on everyone of them. I do not give many five star reviews in order for a place that handles my food to receive a five star rating from me they must have the following qualities, Absolutely delicious food, that not only taste great but food that is plated and presented in a unique and elegant way. Attentive, clean looking, well trained staff in addition to a present attentive owner or manager on duty at all times. Clean facilities including dining area, kitchen, bar restrooms, waiting area, as well as having great upkeep on the outside of the building and parking lot as well. Finding a restaurant that meets those qualities in itself these days are like finding a needle in a haystack, not only did café Venezia meet all those requirements they actually went above and beyond and excelled at each one of the previous categories. I took my wife here for our eight year anniversary dinner, we had our three kids with us and from the moment we entered this place Leo who is one of the owners made us feel right at home. By the end of the dining experience we felt like family, Leo's first objective was making sure we sat somewhere we liked. Then he took the time to thoroughly explain all of the specials and answer any questions we had, additionally he was explaining to us how they pride themselves on serving the freshest food around from seafood to meats. He must've spent a good 20 minutes waiting on our table the great thing was we didn't even need to call anyone over, between Leo and the waiter G as well as the other owner Bruno there was somebody always there asking if you needed something. You will see some of the delicious meals we had below, I highly recommend any of them as well as there homemade chicken tenders if you have kids, which unfortunately I did not get a picture of it for the kids dug into it. This place gets a five star in my book, we will definitely be returning I strongly suggest you check it out if you are in town... Lastly I do recommend making reservations first as it does get filled up pretty quickly. read more

yesterday called to order take out. kitchen was closed but whoever answered gruffly said give me ten minutes when I asked for carpaccio appy. the appy maybe had a a quarter pound of meat, not thinly sliced as it should be. the dish was loaded with arugula and pre shredded parmesan. there was no truffle oil as was featured on the menu. for $16.00 cash I expected more. I will continue to go across the street to Martinsville Tavern, where prices are comparable and the dishes are consistently very good to excellent. wanted to try a new menu but not worth the money I spent. won't go back. read more

The wife & I brought our children to dinner at Cafe Venezia the other night. We were greeted warmly upon entering and were immediately seated at our reservation time. We split a salad which was delicious. The warm fresh bread was worthy of a second basket. The waiter was courteous and assisted in choosing an entree for our 10 year old. I had a ravioli special, son's had shrimp & ravioli. Wife had branzino. The main course came out promptly and we were asked if we were satisfied. The wait staff & manager/owner worked the room. The restaurant is a well run machine, with the employees obviously acting as a team. We finished up with a fantastic tiramisu and chocolate ice cream. We were treated like family by the owners & the staff are hard workers. Can't wait to return. read more
