Have been here for events prior and it was always a decent experience, but tonight was different. Food was good, but they were severely understaffed and it wasn't even busy. Our waitress was great--polite and attentive, and did the best she could, however, it didn't seem like the support staff around her were much help. We waited 20 min to get water and place our drink order and another twenty between refills. At one point, the bartender was on the floor helping to take drink orders, but it seemed like the male manager wasn't doing much to help out. Food was good, flavorful, but what should have been a 45 minute transaction would up taking an hour forty five, by the time we were done. The food was delicious. The true problem is the clientele they keep. There is a bar in the back and an older woman kept walking by and giving my partner odd looks. We assumed she was inebriated, and that it was a rare instance. It wasn't. This woman kept walking back in and out to take a smoke break. The employees were also awkward. When I asked for the check, one of the waiters stopped midway through refilling the water glass to walk off and disappear for ten minutes- and he didn't even bring us the check! Another employee did! Between the weird woman, the spotty service, and the loud party in the dining room, it was an overwhelming experience and not in a good way. The food was great, but I'm not sure if I would go back. Love this place. Have been coming here for decades including many Christmases. Usually I have the prime rib and it has always been perfect. Love to sit near the fireplace. I also love love love the decor which is just so pretty and soothing. The cheese cake was so creamy. Will be coming this Christmas if they are open. read more

Attended a baby shower here over the weekend. I've been here before a few years ago and that was also for a private function. The staff is nice but it's nothing fancy and the interior is pretty dated with pink lighting and white twinkle lights and branches on the ceiling. I'm sure it's very economical to host a function here that's why so many people host their parties here. It was a typical luncheon... bread and butter, tossed salad, choice of entree from chicken parm, veal parm, eggplant parm, chicken Francese, or flounder stuffed with crabmeat. I went with the chicken parm. It was ok, kind of bland but passable when topped with some Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper also the pasta accompaniment was cooked past al dente but was still ok. After lunch we had coffee/tea service. It's a nice neighborhood place to host a luncheon or small gathering. read more

Visited for my first time for my birthday this month with my family. It's a local establishment that has been in our neighborhood for years. My mom had a work function here years ago and recommended we try it so we did. First impressions are that the restaurant is very dated. It gives an early 1980s vibe with the decor inside and the ambience. The bar looked especially dated and in desperate need of some love. That said, we were there to eat and not drink etc. Food ordered: veal parmigiana, chicken valdostana, mushroom ravioli, chicken Marsala. All came with salad and water. I wasn't super impressed at all. I gave the restaurant 3 stars because my family members seemed to enjoy their food. Food was decent. Not the worst I've had, not the best I've had. The vegetable side served with the chicken dinners was super small. A couple green beans and one carrot piece each. The salads were super simple, lettuce and tomatoes, with a splash of dressing on them. Not the best. Lastly we did order some drinks with dinner as it was a special occasion. The Bloody Mary was served in a whisky type glass, not a tall glass it normally should have. The proportions of the tomato mixer to the vodka were way off. The vodka overpowered the entire drink. It was served with a slice of lemon and a slice of lime that were old and bruised. So olive or celery stick. I wouldn't order it again. Other drinks ordered were draught beer and sangria. The sangria should have also been served in a tall glass and it came in a weird shaped martini glass, or an odd shaped wine glass maybe. Waitstaff was pleasant and we didn't have any issues getting a table. Also no issues with noise or children running amok all over the place. So we appreciated that. I probably won't return though. But it was an okay experience for my first time dining there. read more

My husband and I went here this past Saturday night because we couldn't get reservations at other places we tried because they were hosting halloween parties!! There was no wait, we were immediately seated however we had to wait a long time for our food! That's fine for a Saturday night but the bread for an itaian restaurant was bland and tasteless!!! My veal parmesan was clearly not traditional veal parmesan!! It was literally 2 very thin slabs of veal topped with sauce & mozzarella! Went there with a large group of people to celebrate two birthdays. Sadly, overall, most of us were not happy with some of the appetizers and dishes. The server was very nice and attentive. The ambiance was fine and our table (for about 14 of us) was set up nicely; and the menu items were reasonably priced. Despite our general unhappiness with [most of] the food, we did not in any way stint on the tip to the server. My cousin had the seafood combination plate and he enjoyed it. As I recall, the dish consisted of a broiled lobster tail, some shrimp, scallops and perhaps one more item. My friend and I had the stuffed mushroom stuffed with crabmeat in lemon and butter. Sounded like it couldn't miss. It did. There were four large stuffed mushrooms that were about the size of a billiard ball. The consistency was "slippery;" the stuffing tasteless, and instead of the delicate butter sauce I expected, they were in some kind of gravy which probably had butter and lemon in it but was nonetheless thoroughly unappetizing; neither of us liked them. My sister enjoyed her veal giambatta; she had had it there before and enjoyed then and at this dinner. There was one dish my neice ordered which she didn't eat after tasting it and sent it back. It was a chicken dish. I believe it was the chicken francese. They were two THICK clumps of chicken (not the flat cutlets that are typical of that dish) sitting atop a pile of spaghetti. In hindsight, I wish I took some photos of that one in particular because it even looked unappetizing. I enjoyed MY entree. Chicken marsala was on the menu but I asked if they could prepare a veal marsala for me instead, which they did. The veal (unlike my neice's chicken) consisted of several flat cutlets; the portion was more than generous and the sauce was quite tasty. It's possible some of us just ordered dishes that were not the best meal options available so take this review with a grain of salt. But if you do go there, be sure to ask questions and make sure the food is what you expect it to be and be sure it's going to be prepared the way you like it BEFORE it winds up on your table. They do have a bar so you don't have to BYOB. read more

We had my dad's repast at this place back in July, the food and service was wonderful. Fast forward to this evening's dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. The parking lot was full tonight and an event going on the one half of the restaurant. I would highly recommend making reservations on a Saturday evening. My wife had the seafood combo and I went for their daily special, breaded veal layered with prosciutto, asparagus and melted mozzarella in vodka sauce. I asked for penna pasta to complement the sauce. My wife's seafood combo came with a huge lobster tail, 4 large scallops, stuffed shrimp, flounder, delicious mash potatoes and green beans. Everything in the combo was delicious. My baked veal was an awesome dish with the vodka sauce twist, I almost licked the plate dry. The food is always delicious from Carparccios. From their party trays for my brother's holiday gathering, my dad's repast luncheon and this evening's meal. Carparccios is definitely our go to for a great Italian meal. This restaurant has been my go to Italian nice dining for decades since I moved to Middlesex in 1980s, I've always had an excellent meal and fine service. The lunch specials are great deals and quite filling, service is nice, and my mother who is a picky eater, loves it there as well. Highly recommend and I ate there yesterday and plan to go again tomorrow. I haven't tried every dish but the ones I have are always tasty and well prepared, I've eaten all over the world from NYC to Rome and this place brings back those memories pretty close. I attended a small baby shower at Carpaccio's today. The food was pretty standard, portions were on the small side, bread was hard, no cheese was offered for the pasta, but nothing necessarily wrong with the food. The restaurant itself is old and could do with updating but it was clean. Wait staff were polite. What really annoyed me and the reason do my 1 star review was the beverages. To start there were 2 pitchers of ice water on each table, and pitchers of sodas and sangria on a table to the side. We went through the water fairly quickly and over the course of 4 hours not one pitcher was refilled. The wait staff left us completely alone except when dropping and clearing our plates so there was no one to ask for refills, and honestly no one should have to ask for WATER. By the end we resorted to the pitcher of watered-down (because the ice had all melted) flat soda because we were so thirsty. Such a simple thing but it made a huge difference. Once the sangria pitchers emptied the staff refused to fill those too. Maybe there was a limit to the sangria, I don't know, but the water should have been refilled. This place clearly needs some help. read more

My sister and I went to Carpaccios tonight and everything was great! We had sangria, fried calamari, stuffed flounder, chicken francese, cheesecake, almond cake, espresso and cappuccino. EVERYTHING was perfect and delicious. The service was outstanding. We have been long time customers at Carpaccios and tonight everything was even better than ever. This was unquestionably one of the worst Italian restaurants I have ever been to. Actually, it may have one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to...period. The pasta was so overcooked it could have been used as glue. Just a plate of mushy soft penne in a sauce that was nothing more than butter, olive oil, garlic and bad parmegiano cheese. Disgusting. The veal francese was just as bad. The "breading" on the veal was a soggy gelatinous eggy goop that slid off the gray meat. The sauce on the francese was chunky...yes chunky. The were clumps of flour in it. On the same plate was crappy yellow rice with some rubbery broccoli and green beans. On top of it all, the restaurant was clearly understaffed and the service was some of the worst I have ever experienced. Go to McDonalds... the food is better. read more

The server was racist and got angry when I told her that I couldn't have chicken broth. Gave us lunch menus during dinner and tried to charge us extra, the service was horrible and our server was a rude old lady who mumbled racist remarks under her breath all night. The pasta sauce wasn't even a sauce, more like a broth. After being tortured all night we left the restaurant and the server chased us out to tell us we "forgot" to leave a tip. I have never been chased out into the parking lot for a tip for disgusting service and horrendous food. Never coming back here. Oh and the bread tasted like a rock, nobody finished their food on our table and the chicken tasted like a rubber arm. read more

The food was a little bland, and we are thinking that they cater to an older generation of customers many of whom may not be able to tolerate fully seasoned dishes or bold Italian flavors. Italian food reasonably priced. The decor is a little dated (80ish) and the carpets need to be replaced but the food is consistently high quality. The beef carpacchio is exceptional as you might expect. The calamari is lightly battered and fried. The veal is also excellent. Years ago they used prepare caesar salad table side but even though they don't offer this service you can still order it off the menu and it is always authentic. We had our grandson's baptism dinner here today around 38 years since our first son's christening. Although it changed ownership from The Oxbow to Capriccios, we enjoyed the dinner and service very much. We used to live right down the street from this restaurant and always found food and service top notch. It did not disappoint today. We had around 40 people which included 8 children and all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I was quite pleased to go out to dinner with my extended family even if I got a little bored at the end. First things first the restaurant is like half an hour from where I live so I definitely wouldn't come back since the quality of the restaurant doesn't qualify. For the positives I loved the appetizers and bread basket. The bread is always important to my review and this place delivered in that category. On the downside the main was just about the opposite. Ordering a steak is not recommended, because the steaks are thin and not juicy what so ever. I've never had a steak as bad as this one in the same ways as this one in all of my days of tasting. This is the last place in all of New Jersey to go to if you want a decent steak. The food had ups and downs but the other aspects are pretty straight forward. The service was nothing special, but got the job done. The seats were a little uncomfortable but due to COVID we had to be outside. One good reason why this restaurant doesn't make for a good quarantine open restaurant is because you can hear loads of loud cars passing by which disrupts conversation. This is all I have to say for the matter, and as you can tell I have mixed feelings. I might come here again but definitely change my entree order. read more

Meh.. This place has gone downhill rather quickly. Been coming here for years and the service has continued to decrease every visit. The food the same. And, the place could use a serious face lift. Tonight was by far the worst service I've received here. We walked in and there was no hostess. Half of the restaurant has the lights closed off where the hostess would usually be standing to seat. Confused, we walked over to the tight bar area where we were greeted and asked how many. I wonder how long they would've left us standing by the door if we hadn't wandered back. We sat down, and the service was painfully inattentive and slow. I requested red onion to come with my appetizer of mozzarella, tomatoes and peppers. The dish brought out was in poor presentation, white onion and yellow peppers. I was dumbfounded as to who would pair white onion with the dish, and when asked I was notified they had ran out of red onion. This is not some type of rare fruit from the Amazon jungle. This was not a busy night, only 3 other tables filled. Speaking of the 3 other tables, when the party sitting next to us left our waiter thought it would be a great idea to start spraying windex to clean literally not even 6 feet from where we were eating. Who doesn't love the smell of windex while they're eating, right?! My main dish of penne alla vodka was okay, my boyfriends spaghetti with clams was alright as well; although, nothing to write home about. Came here tonight for a group dinner with coworkers and I must say that the food was excellent. I would have given this restaurant 5 stars had the service been better... It was ridiculously crowded tonight (typical Saturday crowd) so I can see that the staff was pretty frazzled but I don't think that's an excuse for being rude at times. The table we were at was big and in a weird placement. The seat I had was almost in the path of where the staff walks through to serve food to the other tables. There were times that some waiters/waitresses would huff and puff and rudely say excuse me. I even had a waiter drop someone else's used fork near me and some food got in my hair. He never apologized. All he told me was that there was some in my hair... Wow so nice of him! Anyway, I would return here for the food but I hope the staff is less cranky when I do! read more

Friendly staff, great service. I had a great experience here. Was greeted immediately by the hostess/ waitress Maria. Food is delicious. Has a full bar for cocktails. Love taking family and friends here when they are in town. Honestly, it's a family-owned restaurant and I adore Jake and Tony. They are amazing people with great values. It's rare when I find places that make remind me to places I've been. Eating here reminded me of my first restaurant experience in Rome! I had a chicken dish with mushrooms, bell peppers, artichoke hearts, and roasted potatoes in a rich wine sauce. The flavors were bold and yet subtle. Wonderful aroma and presentation. The place was very clean as well as the bathrooms. Our server was not exactly the best. I am unable to remember the last time I went to a so called fine restaurant where the service was this terrible!!! While this restaurant was not that busy and there were other waitresses helping the other dinars, our waitress would disappear for 10 - 15 minutes at a time. Upon serving our Caesar salad the waitress offered fresh pepper and cheese. Our table of 5 said sure. She returned 15 minutes later!!! That was just one exame pf the poir swrvice. Even the bus boys were not up to par. We had to ask them to clean our table and refill the water. I don't have to return here for quite awhile. It was my first time in the area, and Vito from Sicily told me to eat here. How could I refuse? It turned out to be a very good recommendation. My appetizer was seasonally fresh tomato slices over fresh mozzarella, with firm boiled shrimp, marinated artichoke hearts, and prosciutto. With the oil and balsamic on the table, the fresh bread and a glass of wine, this could have been an excellent late summer dinner all by itself. The entree was flounder with scallops on top, in a emulsified lemon butter, over rapini with whipped potatoes. Three things about it: all very fresh ingredients, all textures of fish, scallops, and rapini perfect, flavors balanced - not salty, no need for more salt - I was impressed. You just don't experience this all the time, so I really appreciate it when it happens. There was a hand in the kitchen that really knew what it was doing. i ordered sea scallops. i got bay scallops. they were very tough. the kitchen knew what they were sending out you cant mistake sea for bay they're much smaller. and they knew it was overcooked - you can could see it. the restaurant responded to my email telling them about it and all they basically had to say was 'we're sorry, next time send it back.' i was kind of put off by the fact that they did not own up to the fact their kitchen sent out crap and the wrong crap! i can see why this happens after all the mgmt didn't seem to be concerned in their email. i think this place is mediocre, plan to be disappointed unless you don't mind eating dreck. read more
