We have been eating here for over 9+ years and since the old owners left it has not been the same. We still try to give them chance after chance but this time I'm super disappointed. We ordered four dinner pastas and they all were not great. The penne vodka was red sauce and super watery to the point where it was falling off the noodles. The garlic bread had no garlic and they gave one loaf and two triangle hard pieces of bread. I did call to complain to get a refund and return the food. The lady who answered just said to bring the food back.. did not seem to ask why we weren't satisfied or what she can do to help better the situation. Super disappointed because this was the go to pizzeria... RIP italian village.

Penne, à la Vaca

Penna vadka is great, it comes with a unexpected salad and garlic bread. 10/10 highly recommend

This was actually my first visit to Italian Village since I moved near by. I'm constantly ordering from Pizza places in the surrounding towns and this night was no different; the thing that separated this Saturday night from the others was that I actually liked my pizza. Usually I will get extra cheese that will have enough cheese to burst an artery; but this night the cheese was just right & so was the crunch. I ordered on my way home and it was ready when I got there. I will most definitely try them again, but the next time I will branch out to other things on their menu.

Stopped in to try the traditional plain pizza and I was super impressed! The quality of the dough, sauce, and cheese is like no other. The new menu has a wide variety of different foods and choices (including gluten free cauliflower crust pizza) and the new owner Leo is very friendly and welcoming! Highly recommend!!

Admittedly, I'm partial to the pizza I grew up on in Brooklyn, NY and I havent tried it here - but the dishes I have tried are always fresh and delicious. My favourite is the grilled chicken salad with "everything." Toppings include tomatoes, roasted peppers, jalapenos, etc and I order it topped with ranch dressing as well. I've also had eggplant parm sandwiches from there, which are delicious. Customer service is courteous and timely although I've always ordered in person or by phone to pick up. The restuarant is well staffed. Nice ambience to have a meal with a friend, etc and they serve food on real dishes, which I think is a really nice touch. Prices are reasonable. Free parking is convenient and plentiful. I've been eating here periodically for ten years, and I plan to continue!

Everything you could want from a slice shop. Solid grandma and classic cheese and tons of cool other non traditional, big slices.

Best pizza in the area. Closest to a New York slice that you're going to get. Nothing fancy, but the plain pizza is fantastic.

And the staff is lovely, extremely nice every time and when they're really busy (which seems to be often, because they're the best in the area) they make good for the delay. We haven't tried much more than pizza, but their wings are huge and tasty and their mozzarella sticks are a perfect classic style that comes with delicious tomato sauce which must be homemade. We have tried several other places in the area and they range from nearly inedible to not bad. La Nonna's is by far and away the best in the area. If we call and they're closed, we don't order pizza that night because nothing else compares. If you want pizza, don't waste your time anywhere else. If you want your mind blown, I suggest the chicken parm pizza and/or the margarita. Thank me later.

Ordered a plain large cheese pizza. Maybe the specialty pies are better? So I might give this place one more chance since the pickings are slim around these parts. On a positive note: Delivery was fast & the person who answered the phone was pleasant. Wish I could say the pizza was great, but it was just ok.

We ordered 2 pizzas and the carbonara. The pizzas were good. The folks were friendly and greeted us as soon as we entered the restaurant. My family and I…read moreconsist of allium-free vegetarians; traditional Italian places and vegetarian Indian/East Asian eateries, breakfast/brunch places are usually a better bet and I spotted this place on the map. I ended up giving them a try with my friend who was visiting us from out-of-state for a few days. I did call ahead of time and it didn't really fill me up with a lot of hope, but as of now, I still haven't tried any local places yet so I took my friend (omnivore, no allergies) there anyway. Also because we were on a time crunch and I had no time to look around for Option B. We went for lunch on a Thursday, maybe around 1 pm. Conveniently located near the Fanwood Train Station. They have a shared parking lot down the side and around the back (it's a dead end so the way you came in is the way you'll come out). There was no one else there but a waitress who was in the middle of decorating the blackboard with their specials and the Chef, though there was a take out order and they were bring in some deliveries. Everything seemed pretty clean but we were clearly there during their slower hours. Just as a disclaimer, I was told pretty much all their sauces there contained alliums. I ended up getting the following at my own suggestion: BLACK TRUFFLE BURRATA that came with these flatbreads. These are noted as house made; I love it when eateries make their own food from scratch! At $14, it was pretty reasonably priced but it did only come with four pieces of the bread. No free refills to my experience, but I also didn't ask. Delicious, flavorful, and simple. I fully expected to get something like this and was glad I didn't end up with a simple salad and olive oil. A solid appetizer. My friend enjoyed this as well! She topped her pizza with it. My friend got the TRIFOLATA. It's a mushroom based pizza and she said it was good. No complaints but did pick off the burnt bits, but that's expected with a wood fired oven. She liked it and was interested in trying other pizzas/pastas if she has the chance and is in the area again. I really struggled on how to rate this place. Cleanliness was on point from what I saw, place was cohesively decorated, tables might be on the smaller side if everyone orders a pizza, service was... somewhat adequate? They didn't really seem to know how to treat me and didn't really give any suggestions and it wasn't even because they were busy. Just did their job and maybe a few comments. We were asked once how the food was and it was directed at my friend. Having said that, we were greeted as soon as we walked in and when we left and I'd say our waitress was friendly. If you had no dietary restrictions (or at least not to alliums are on a low FODMAP diet), you'd probably have a better time. As for me? At least I know where to go for good burrata! Personally, I initially wanted to rate them 3 stars for the lack of substantial choices other than fancy cheese and bread, but seeing as I went anyway despite knowing that things weren't in my favor, it is on me. So I'm giving them 4 stars because what I had was good (but it might be the only thing I can have) and my friend enjoyed her pizza. They do note what items contain nuts on their menu and they have gluten free options which was what brought them to my attention in the first place. I have a kid with multiple food allergies. Unfortunately, their GF options contains eggs ... which is another one of my kid's allergies. If I go back again, it'll likely be with the same friend. Overall, a solid place for Italian food, but sadly not for my family.

Instead he just whined lmao so I made us a reason. I wanted to go to Sierra f0r mY biRthDaY tRiP t0 AcaDiA (3 years running) so I chose a spot near there based on Yelp. Very meta. It was our first time so I had limited expectations other than price. I was right lol. $38 dollars later... This place specializes in Roma pizza and my only barometer for that is all the influencers going to Italy and complaining that the pizza looks "different" than here in the US. The gag is it always looked good to me so I was hype to try it as Massa. It kinda gives focaccia pizza and Massa does some really nice flavors. The slices are set up almost like a bakery - complete with the panic/relief that sets in when the person ahead of you takes the last slice of crumb cake. But then you see a fresh pan coming out the oven. We got: -cremini mushroom -pesto -hot honey pepperoni (The Stevearoni I think and the one someone grabbed the last slice of before me) -diavola aka spicy soppressata. We split a beet, walnut, and goat cheese salad and a Diet Coke. It was so good. Crunchy, crispy, flavorful, and yes different. We loved it. The salad was fresh, perfectly dressed and bright. Overall Impressions: -clean aesthetic and actually just clean -great food -good seating This would be a 5 star experience (instead of 4.5) if the staff was more outwardly friendly. They weren't rude or anything but a hello and goodbye is what separates this place from my local spot that is 2 miles away instead of 15 and $20 instead of $40. We look forward to returning - not every week at these prices but at least once a month. Delicious!
