It's been a while since I've been here. I wasn't too hungry, so I opted for one of my usual favorites, the Pechuga a La Plancha (Grilled Chicken Breast) with French fries and Maduros. Unfortunately, the chicken was bland, the fries were soggy, and only the Maduros were enjoyable. The meal also included a side of rice and beans, but I skipped it. I tried the Mango shake with milk, but it was disappointingly watery and lacked mango flavor. I was pretty let down, to be honest. I had only been to Sabor once, and I haven't had Columbian food before to compare it to, but my general impressions were pretty good. The man who was our server was very friendly and didn't mind all the questions I asked him. Based off the stuff I liked he affirmed my selection of entrée which was very good, the country platter. The prices for this place were also excellent, you're paying over 10 an entrée but just over for the most part. As for the reviewer who said this place was both expensive and dishes where 12 a plate, I'm not really sure what they pay for dinner in Texas, but in NJ 12 a dinner it pretty damn cheap. Also this place is extremely casual. If you were wearing a shirt and jeans i think your on par for attire. As for the establishment we went for dinner and they had a decent sized crowed, it wasn't packed but there were a few big tables full of people. Our table was 9 alone so it seemed like a lot of big groups came here and they accommodated them well. All in all I think I would like to come back here and try some of their other dishes. read more

The Bistek a caballo (steak n onions) - off the hook with flavor, they have incredible Pechuga either breaded or grilled (chicken), tremendous salads, homemade soups that are very warming especially when it's cold out. I really like the beans here the caldo (broth) is fantastic over perfectly prepared rice. Take my word for it that at Sabor Latino you can't go wrong with any meal on the menu. We ordered two orders of the tostonsitos that came guacamole and chicharrones, when we got them it was all grease no meat, which they exchanged after we explained to the waitress that we weren't going to pay for just grease. I have been twice for business meetings. There is a large room in the basement for larger parties. I have never eaten dinner here. The service has alway been quick. There food is served family style and there is more than enough to go around. The owner always came into the room and made sure everyone was happy. The waiters were quick to bring drinks. Let me start by saying, as someone who is not a native Spanish speaker, I did not feel very welcome at this restaurant. The establishment had two entrances. We had entered at the bar entrance. No one had directed us as to where to go. We decided to move on our own to the restaurant area where we were finally directed to stay ourselves. My girlfriend had ordered the trout frances and I ordered the bandeja montañera. I am a fan of imported sodas, so I ordered the manzana soda. server warned me I may not like it, but I assured him I still wanted the drink. After about 15 minutes, the couple sitting behind us, whose order was taken about 5 minutes after our order, was served their food before we were. Also note they had ordered the same dishes as us. After another 10 minutes, we inquired another server about our food. Our food came shortly afterwards. We knew our order was forgotten as the good was served lukewarm. The bandeja montañera was good, but it's a typical dish I could order elsewhere. There was nothing special that would make me want to return for it. The sauce of the trout frances was good, but because it was boned, it made it difficult to eat. In all it was "okay". Our main complaint was the service. On top of forgetting our order, when asking for another pepper shaker because there was red "gunk" on top, I received this response along with attitude "why, cause it looks weird". We've noticed service has been going down hill for a while now but continued to support it. We had a bad experience a couple of months back for my daughter's birthday. Our waitress was extremely rude but we spoke with the manager and decided to give it another try. We went today waited nearly half hour for service, the waiter was extremely rude and disrespectful, literally argued with me continuously. When I asked to speak with the manager was told was he was not there but the owner was. A staff member went to alert the owner that an upset customer wanted to speak with him. He told her to tell me he was busy to call another day. We've been customers for nearly 10 years, yet he couldn't take 1 minute to come out and even acknowledge us and personally tell us he was busy but will contact us at a later time to hear out our concerns and complaint. The restaurant was nearly empty the staff was 90% new as it has been a constant turnover. As we walked out a father that was there with his 2 daughters for nearly 20 minutes without any type of service said "the service here is horrible, we're not coming back here" my husband said that's why we're leaving. We owned a restaurant and know the struggles and hard work needed but we would have never allowed an employee to disrespect a customer that is respectful to them and we would have never told an upset customer that we're too busy to acknowledge them. read more

I think the biggest surprise to waiters is when you can understand and speak Spanish. Very friendly waiter and one waiter even came over to help see if we couldn't understand the menu or talk to the waiter. My brother and I both ordered chicken entrees and fried calamari. Brother had chicken with a mushroom sauce and I had grilled chicken. The fried calamari came out first as an appetizer. The sauce would have been really great if it was a bit thicker, but it wasn't too over powering which was great. Calamari was perfectly fried and seasoned, really light appetizer. Food came out maybe ten minutes later and was very filling. Portions were generous and very flavorful. Tasty cream of mushroom sauce. From the minute I met with Wilson I was confident that they could handle our party of over 100 people. Starting with arriving exactly on time with food and incredible staff. I knew I would be able to enjoy our party. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. The Chicken Francaise will always be one of my favorites. For starters, as we walked in a waiter simply signaled for us from across the restaurant to sit ourselves down. Ok, not a big deal. After looking at the menu we patiently waited for service. Finally the same waiter just looked at us from across the room again with an "are you ready" look. Okay. Very dry, no personality, didn't introduce himself. As a disclaimer, service is very important to me when I go to a restaurant. We gave our order. He left as quickly as he came. The chorizo was very good, I'll say that. The tostones with chicken were ok. Nothing great. The chicken was very mushy and chewy for my liking. They brought out salads which were just a plate of lettuce. Not much more to say about that. My churrasco was very big. Again, on the chewy side and not great. The rice and beans did have good flavor. Our waiter never once checked in on us. A different waiter tried attending to us but he was flustered with all his tables already. We asked for water at the start of our meal and finally received it once we were asking for the check. In summary, the service was nonexistent. But the food wasn't that good either. Can't have bad service and average food. And for this reason, I will not be returning. read more

Peas were been on in cooked side. Got one very fatty chunk of chicken too. Plantains were eh too. Fries were skinny and seemed to be the type you buy in frozen food section of a store and definitely not made fresh. Salad was a chopped salad, bland with one cherry tomato and only option given for dressing was French. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meal but I was very underwhelmed with mine. Service was ok.
