Today, I stopped in at Ohh Que Rico Colombian bakery for the first time. This is a really nice bakery right on Blackwell Street. Whether it's hot food or bakery items, everything is right there in display cases. I got takeout, but there are tables to sit at also. I ordered a couple of beef empanadas, Pan de Bono, and a cup of coffee. Everything was delicious! The empanadas with the spicy sauce were very good, but the stars of the show for me were the coffee and Pan de Bono. The Colombian coffee with steamed milk is just so good! The server was super friendly and prices reasonable. Oh Que Rico translates to Oh How Delicious and it was definitely true!

In turn, it's nice to support those places. The two gentlemen working there were wonderful. One of them opened the door for me and they greeted me with smiles. That's always a win in my books. I opted for a Ham & Cheese Empanada for my non-foodventurous Mom and I got the Libreta for me. Libreta because with all the layers, it was reminiscent of a book. Also picked up an iced decaf Americano. I appreciated that the gentleman repeated my order to make sure we were on the same page. Everything was DELICIOUS!! My Mom (who eats like a bird) finished her empanada straight away and couldn't say enough about how good it was! The place was cozy, beautifully decorated, and so welcoming! The filling was very wet and seemed to be more of a gravy then chicken and potato. It tastes like oil and didn't seem to be completely cooked through. It didn't help that the person that waited on me was a bit abrupt. They seemed like they were annoyed I ordered so many and that picking up the already cooked food to put it in a bag was a real pain. Overall disappointed in the food and the experience. I'll take crappy customer service for delicious food any day. But you can't have mediocre food and treat paying customers like crap.

Since a couple of people in my party already knew what they wanted, they went ahead and ordered while the rest of us continued looking over the flavors. To make sure I wasn't mistaken, I asked him if the employee had given them samples, and he confirmed that she had. The man appeared to be of Latin descent, as was the employee. My party was not. While I can't say for sure why we were treated differently, I was disappointed that we were told samples weren't available when another customer had clearly been allowed to try several flavors. Rather than confront the employee, I paid for the two orders that had already been placed and we left. Had I realized beforehand that samples were being offered to other customers and not us, I would not have placed an order at all. One person in my party ordered one scoop each of passionfruit, black cherry, and mango. After they started eating, they realized the mango scoop was missing from the cup. They did enjoy the passionfruit and black cherry flavors though. The person ordered the cappuccino flavor but did not enjoy it at all.
