I've been a frequent customer of Portuguese BBQ considering my family lineage but since it's a rarity in the area I live in now, we tried Pollos Pucalor. For starters, the chicken is flavorful, fresh and always on point. The rice and beans as well, but french fries are always a miss - stale and floppy - but the chicharron makes up for it! The only downside here: if you don't speak Spanish, you're screwed with both placing the order and picking up primarily due to it being a family owned establishment in a heavily populated Latin/Hispanic community. I've tried calling in a handful of times and have been put on hold for a while or hung up on after a few tries. It's pretty tough to have a conversation with them primarily due to the loud background noise and distant tone picked up by their touch less headsets the employees wear. It can get a bit frustrating if you're not able to speak moderate Spanish, but the alternative is just order Uber Eats or DoorDash, honestly lol it's still so worth it though! read more

Great rotisserie chicken! Better than Costco (for sure), and it's worth the splurge. The sauces go sooo well with the chicken and it's also super juicy and well seasoned. I usually stop by here on a weekend and there's always a line for takeout so I recommend ordering ahead! There's also a small dine-in area with about 6 small tables as well. Prices are good and food is all so delicious, my favorites are the rotisserie chicken and the chicharron!! Some bites get a bit overcooked, but the pieces that are so juicy and tender are amazing! They've got a small parking lot outside, but otherwise there's street parking available as well. read more

I used to eat pollos Pucalor chicken on a weekly basis many years ago when I worked in the Dover area. So, when I had a meeting in town, I had to stop by for lunch. I'm happy to note that the place hasn't changed a bit, workers are friendly, there's a small dining area in the back and the chicken still taste the same. I ordered the special for $8. It came with two pieces of chicken, rice and beans, a potato, salad and their homemade chicken soup. I wasn't a fan of the soup but the chicken dish with the rice, beans, potato and salad was on point. Please note: it's a $10 min for credit cards so I ended up having to purchase two waters to make it to the minimum. I hate when restaurants do that. Reason why it's not 5 was a few things. 1: they don't have any drinks other than sugary colas and water. 2: they put out food with no serving utensils 3: when the door opens and shuts, it gets damn cold in there. That aside, the food is fantastic. We got tostones, sweet plantains, two whole chickens with 4 sides (2 red beans, papas fritas and salad) all for around $40. Service was great and all the food was prepared very well. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, the beans were soft and flavorful and everything was presented well. I would definitely go back here as you can't beat feeding a family of 4 for $40 and still having a half a chicken left over. The entire time, people were coming in and eating or taking about chicken to go. Must have sold 50 chickens during the hour or so we were there. The bathroom door locks are tricky though and my mother wound up locking herself in the women's room requiring my dad to rescue her, it was funny. read more

The 1st time I went I order the rice, sweet plantains, chicharrón, beans and obviously the chicken. My family loved the three of the five items I order ( the rice is too plain and the beans had no flavor) everything else was delicious. The 2nd time I order the saute potatos along with the chicken, sweet plantains and chicharrón and it was amazing.
