Seemed like a pretty popular spot considering the crowd that was there but I was underwhelmed..boooo. The food looked spectacular in the windows. However, we ordered the rotisserie chicken with rice, beans and sweet plantains. We also added a stuffed potato ball that seemed appealing that they had on display as well. As a foodie, I like to get a sampling of dishes to get a full taste of their offerings. Let's start off with the main dish, the rotisserie chicken, which was piping hot and off the spit. That I give them 5 stars for. The flavor was somewhat bland. It had a good color but the taste was a bit off and lacked salt. The rice had no salt whatsoever and the accompanying beans had no flavor as well. It had the same off-flavor as the chicken. Now onto the plantains --not ripe enough and were hard. The potato ball was thick and dense, the only thing that helped its flavor was the tiny container of pickled green sauce that they gave. As far as the staff, they were ok, very mechanical and busy. I opted for their Lunch Special which is available from Mon-Fri from 11:30am-5pm. I started off with the consomme aka soup which came with chicken and potatoes. It was soothing and tasty but very oily with fatty pieces of chicken. The plate itself was decent, particularly the chicken and beans. The rice was average (I was expecting yellow/seasoned rice) and the salad wasn't really a salad - just a bed of lettuce, tomato, and onion. I enjoyed the Colombian soda too! All in all, I would probably give this a 3/5 but the chicken bumps it up to a 4/5. I probably wouldn't get this dish again but would probably order something else if I return. read more

I've driven by this establishment countless times and never thought to stop in. Once my friend raved about it, I had to try it. She frequented the Dover location but I decided to try the Morristown location since it's closer. I called for the whole chicken combo and picked it up on my way to Shop Rite. My family enjoyed the chicken and sides. If you have gotten the Costco rotisserie, this is 100x better. The rice was nothing special but everyone enjoyed the beans. This is a great meal at an affordable price to feed up to 4 people. We had plenty with leftovers. This is fast food that's healthier than a lot of other options. I'm going to make this a regular stop and even try the Dover location. Give it a try! Parking is easy too. read more

Love this great find in Morristown! The chicken ("bird") is delicious and well-grilled while leaving the meat still moist and tasty. Love the papa rellenas (which is nothing short of a mouth-watering ball of blended flavors), complemented with plantain and papa guisada -- potatoes with chunks of tasty onion peppered around it. The arepas are slightly different from what we expected -- instead of more flavory Venezuelan version, these aren't much more than smallish bland corn discs (but they're not bad either). Everyone agrees that other than being delicious, the dishes are noticeably less oily, which is a big plus. What's also amazing is the generous portion and the very reasonable price (less than $25 fed 4 adults with leftover to take home). Great social distancing is enforced -- only one customer is allowed inside to place and pick up an order. Very friendly and prompt service-- meals are prepared and ready in less than 10 minutes at lunchtime on a Saturday! read more

The building itself is not too big, has a clean dining area (at least when my group and I stopped by), and has designated parking spots. The staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. For the most part, the roasted chicken they are known for is good but familiar. Pucalor's Combo ($13.50) comes with sliced whole roasted chicken (and containers of green sauce) with your choice of two sides; we opted for rice and beans. With regards to the chicken, it was roasted perfectly: The skin was slightly crispy and flavorful, had an even char, and the meat was moist. Beyond that, however, I can't seem to taste what is so special about the chicken here. Don't get me wrong--the food is good, but not great. As for the sides, the rice and beans are nothing to write home about. The rice is just plain white rice with scallions thrown in, while the beans were alright; the latter was a bit bland. For me, Pollos Pucalor is just another chicken-and-rice option. I'm not sure if I'll come back, but if I do, I'd probably try the Typical Pucalor Platter. read more

It was mystifying... we actually gave our complete order to each person but for some reason was unceremoniously put on hold and ultimately transferred to someone else who acted as if we had just called them. I prefer the Denville location because of their superior service but whatever, I come here for the food and not a white-glove dining experience. I went for the combo with an order of chicharron on the side. For my two sides I went with tostones and beans. Tostones were crisp but definitely less than perfect after sitting under a heat lamp for a while. Beans were tender with a deep flavor and balanced spices (not spicy, just spiced) - like a cross between the pinto and black beans at Chipotle. The roast chicken is definitely worth coming back for. The chicharron was also how I remembered it; hard and difficult to bite through even fresh from the fryer! The chicken is perfectly cooked and is juicy. The skin has the right amount of char and the meat is seasoned well. Get it with plantains, rice and beans.
