Fantastic roasted chicken. On top of that the portions are huge. Im not one of these cheeps that gives high ratings for huge portions of terrible food. they could cut the portion in half and charge the same, it would still be worth it. The roasted chicken is cooked perfectly, very juicy, and just the right crisp on the skin, well seasoned, not over the top. read more

Great chicken and the staff was very nice. I am never disappointed there. Rice and sweet plantain are great.

Delicious!!! Very tasty chicken!! We love the rice and beans too! We get take out. Easy. Prices are fair. It's a lot of food for a reasonable price. read more

Seemed like a pretty popular spot considering the crowd that was there but I was underwhelmed..boooo. The food looked spectacular in the windows. However, we ordered the rotisserie chicken with rice, beans and sweet plantains. We also added a stuffed potato ball that seemed appealing that they had on display as well. As a foodie, I like to get a sampling of dishes to get a full taste of their offerings. Let's start off with the main dish, the rotisserie chicken, which was piping hot and off the spit. That I give them 5 stars for. The flavor was somewhat bland. It had a good color but the taste was a bit off and lacked salt. The rice had no salt whatsoever and the accompanying beans had no flavor as well. It had the same off-flavor as the chicken. Now onto the plantains --not ripe enough and were hard. The potato ball was thick and dense, the only thing that helped its flavor was the tiny container of pickled green sauce that they gave. As far as the staff, they were ok, very mechanical and busy. Overall, I honestly wasted my hunger and palate on this place and I won't be going back. read more

Ordered: Pucalor's Special (~$13): 1/4 Chicken, Rice, Beans, Stewed Potatos, Salad, Consomme, and Soda Aya's take: I was in the area and decided to check out Pollos Pucalor. I opted for their Lunch Special which is available from Mon-Fri from 11:30am-5pm. I started off with the consomme aka soup which came with chicken and potatoes. It was soothing and tasty but very oily with fatty pieces of chicken. The plate itself was decent, particularly the chicken and beans. The rice was average (I was expecting yellow/seasoned rice) and the salad wasn't really a salad - just a bed of lettuce, tomato, and onion. I enjoyed the Colombian soda too! All in all, I would probably give this a 3/5 but the chicken bumps it up to a 4/5. I probably wouldn't get this dish again but would probably order something else if I return. read more

I've driven by this establishment countless times and never thought to stop in. Once my friend raved about it, I had to try it. She frequented the Dover location but I decided to try the Morristown location since it's closer. I called for the whole chicken combo and picked it up on my way to Shop Rite. My family enjoyed the chicken and sides. If you have gotten the Costco rotisserie, this is 100x better. The rice was nothing special but everyone enjoyed the beans. This is a great meal at an affordable price to feed up to 4 people. We had plenty with leftovers. This is fast food that's healthier than a lot of other options. I'm going to make this a regular stop and even try the Dover location. Give it a try! Parking is easy too. read more

Pollos Pucalor - Latin American Near Me - Morristown, New Jersey

Love this great find in Morristown! The chicken ("bird") is delicious and well-grilled while leaving the meat still moist and tasty. Love the papa rellenas (which is nothing short of a mouth-watering ball of blended flavors), complemented with plantain and papa guisada -- potatoes with chunks of tasty onion peppered around it. The arepas are slightly different from what we expected -- instead of more flavory Venezuelan version, these aren't much more than smallish bland corn discs (but they're not bad either). Everyone agrees that other than being delicious, the dishes are noticeably less oily, which is a big plus. What's also amazing is the generous portion and the very reasonable price (less than $25 fed 4 adults with leftover to take home). Great social distancing is enforced -- only one customer is allowed inside to place and pick up an order. Very friendly and prompt service-- meals are prepared and ready in less than 10 minutes at lunchtime on a Saturday! read more

I so want to love this place but they are inconsistent. If the chicken is fresh and juicy, it is amazing. Tonight the chicken was overcooked, hard and dry. Skin was burnt. I did NOT enjoy it. read more

We love this place. The chicken is fantastic and the sides are delicious. Nicely done.

Psst.. hey.. this is my secret chicken spot. Rule#1 Dont tell anyone about chicken club. Last Sunday I walked in and ordered a bird to go, and my man was all like.. sorry, 45 minutes we sold out. NO JOKE. Chicken Place ran out of CHICKENS. So.. I order ahead now, because some finger lickin' schmuck did not follow rule #1. Birds be crazy good here. For $13.50 you get the whole thing, with your choice of 2 sides. Rice, or beans. Maduros, sweet plantains, fries or salad. The sauce on the side is good, not peruvian green sauce good, but a nice spicy fresh juice to dip your yummy in. read more

Delicious chicken so juicy! Great amount of food for the price. The staff is very friendly as well.

Love the food here. Chickens are chicken-sized (as opposed to being the size of pigeons, which is the size many of Newark's Ironbound bbq places now serve). Tasty as all get-out, too. Only bad thing is the quantity of disposable implements and plates they use here. Please! Love the environment, we need it. PS - hay algún problema con su página web. ¡Queda imposible visitarla! read more

Delicious chicken!!! Rice is perfectly cooked. Worth the trip from any of the neighboring towns for this niche cafe.

I love the simplicity of the menu, the quality of the food and the great prices! I ordered the half chicken (1 wing, 1 drumstick, 1 thigh, and 1 breast) for the unbelievable price of $5.50! This is the best rotisserie chicken I have ever had. Crispy skin with Latin flavors encase tender and juicy chicken. I am looking forward to going back and trying the sides! read more

Whoa, just fed 4 people a yummy hot fresh roasted chicken dinner, a whole bird & 2 sides, with table service & real forks and knives just $26 cash including tax and a big tip! Even took home some leftovers. Meat was perfectly moist, skin was cooked yet not crisp, love the spice mix on the outside. Two sides come with the $13.50 whole-chicken combo. Plantains were perfectly tender, French fries were smoking hot from the fryer. Vegetarian rating? No. There's exactly one entrée here, it's a roast chicken. Some (possibly?) veg sides are salad, rice, beans; but probably not the fries because you know they use the same fryer for everything LOL. Impossibly quick service, friendly people, English spoken here too, I highly recommend Pucalor's chicken joint. Definitely try their chicharron with hot sauce, just $3. read more

Truly awesome rotisserie chicken with a complex and deep blend of spices. Even for picky eaters, the very short menu makes it easy. Tip: Never, ever, phone in an order at this place unless you have a ginormous order... we had to repeat our order four times on the phone to four different people! It was mystifying... we actually gave our complete order to each person but for some reason was unceremoniously put on hold and ultimately transferred to someone else who acted as if we had just called them. It was frustrating. Having said that the food's good and at a fair price. I prefer the Denville location because of their superior service but whatever, I come here for the food and not a white-glove dining experience. Reliably tasty chicken that's never dry with awesome tostones. Chicken soup is fabulous as well. read more

It's like Colombian Boston Market. My chicken was tender, moist, and flavorful (not much different from what you would get at other rotisserie focused restaurants). I went for the combo with an order of chicharron on the side. For my two sides I went with tostones and beans. Tostones were crisp but definitely less than perfect after sitting under a heat lamp for a while. Beans were tender with a deep flavor and balanced spices (not spicy, just spiced) - like a cross between the pinto and black beans at Chipotle. The order of chicharron was two gigantic rashers perfectly crisped with good meat on them - totally worth it! Service is friendly and fast. There is plenty of seating available but my takeout order was ready in minutes. read more

94-percent of the reviews are either a 4-star or 5-star, so perhaps I'm missing out on something. The building itself is not too big, has a clean dining area (at least when my group and I stopped by), and has designated parking spots. The staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. For the most part, the roasted chicken they are known for is good but familiar. Pucalor's Combo ($13.50) comes with sliced whole roasted chicken (and containers of green sauce) with your choice of two sides; we opted for rice and beans. With regards to the chicken, it was roasted perfectly: The skin was slightly crispy and flavorful, had an even char, and the meat was moist. Beyond that, however, I can't seem to taste what is so special about the chicken here. Don't get me wrong--the food is good, but not great. As for the sides, the rice and beans are nothing to write home about. The rice is just plain white rice with scallions thrown in, while the beans were alright; the latter was a bit bland. For me, Pollos Pucalor is just another chicken-and-rice option. I'm not sure if I'll come back, but if I do, I'd probably try the Typical Pucalor Platter. read more

This place hasn't changed in 8 years since I came here for the first time. The decor is the same. The pucalor platter was the same as the first time. The roast chicken is definitely worth coming back for. The chicharron was also how I remembered it; hard and difficult to bite through even fresh from the fryer! The chicken is perfectly cooked and is juicy. The skin has the right amount of char and the meat is seasoned well. Get it with plantains, rice and beans. Squeeze some limes over it and always ask for more salsa, because those little cups aren't enough. There's no cervesas here. Opt for the Columbian cola if you like cream soda. read more

Ordered a few roasted chicken for my fathers surprise party and it was out of the park gooood! Ready on time and excellent.

I absolutely love chicken. Especially if it's a spicy route away from KFC, Popeyes. Not that I don't like Popeyes or KFC or even Bojangles but anything off the beaten and usual path seems to good to pass off. Pollos Pucalor was a joint that my parents discovered and kept coming back for it. The fry of the chicharron is incredible, very crisp and flavorful. We were there to order take out for a newly discovered chicken. The pricing is very affordable, $9 for chicken and 7$ for each chicharron stick. We ordered 2 chicken and 3 chicharron and we have had left overs for the past couple of days. The chicken is perfectly cooked. Warm and flavorful skin. Juicy and warm, the meat is seasoned very well. There is a green sofrito that they offer which is intense flavor which adds a nice bite to the meat. The staff is very friendly in store and through the phone. The chicken and the chicharrones are the stars so I will keep coming back! read more

Great prices and delicious food. You can feed a whole family very affordably. The food was ready very quickly.

Pollos Pucalor - Yum! - Latin American Near Me - Morristown, New Jersey

Oh, my friend, it's been too long. Since I left my Morristown girlfriend, I left my Morristown chicken, and that's a shame. Yes, I miss the chicken more than her - and that was true even when we were together. That's not to say my relationship was no great shakes. Quite the contrary, that's how good the chicken is at Pucalor! I've been several times for their perfectly seasoned and spit-roasted birds with a variety of authentic Colombian sides. I have not found a side I dislike here. There's a reason there are two Pucalors, with the other thriving in highly competitive Dover. This place holds its own among any in Morris County for what it offers. Yes, limited menu. You're coming here for the chicken. Anything else is just lipstick on the tasty proverbial pig. read more

What a great place to get delicious roasted chicken for cheap. You can get an entire meal for a family of 4 for less than $20. The chicken is great. I used to eat pollo ala brasa like this all the time when I lived in Queens. It has taken me a long time to find any spot, let alone a good one in NJ. This place makes the cut. The folks at the counter are very friendly and the chicken is just perfect. The only "meh" is the tostones, they are just not the best I have ever had. Get extra sauce for the chicken, rice. It is worth paying $0.25 for a couple more sauces. read more
