While most people have sushi as their first post-partum meal request, I wanted a steak and fries with truffle chimichurri from Colonial Grill. My husband drove from Morristown Medical Center to pick one up for me while I was with our newborn at the hospital, but the line for the cart was 1.5 hours long, which was too long for him to separated from us and our new baby while I recovered. Unfortunately he had to turn around empty handed, which was very disappointing for me. We returned again three weeks later, with our newborn, and again the line was around 1 hour long, which was too long to wait with a new baby. I wish they would do something to make their food more accessible and minimize wait times, because we have had to turn away twice! We finally placed an order in advance from their other, non-food-truck location. The menu here was limited to just the steak and fries, so I was in luck. The food was amazing, but probably would have been even better if we didnt have to do takeout, as I feel steak is best eaten on the spot and does not fare well with longer car rides. The fries were a little soggy, but the chimichurri sauce was AMAZING and my steak was still tender by the time it got home. Overall I would love to return when our baby gets a bit bigger and try some other menu items. The park next to the truck has a lovely ambiance so I would love to grab something to go and eat in the park.

Believe the hype about the Colonial Grill because it absolutely lives up to it. I went on a Sunday around 1:30 and the line was long, but it was definitely worth the wait. While you're waiting, they even give you a small sample of their fries and sauce to snack on. We ordered a chicken gyro, a burger, and the steak and chicken fries. Everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The portions are huge & honestly, two people (maybe even three) could share one tray. Customer service was a 10/10. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and fun. I had my dog with me and they even gave me a little steak for him, which was such a sweet touch. They're parked right by the Morristown Green, so you can grab your food and enjoy it in the park. They accept cash and all major credit cards, and they offer a discount if you pay cash. Drinks are limited to Coke and Jarritos (mandarin and pineapple), so if you want something different you may want to grab a drink elsewhere. Prices are fair for the amount of food you get. I'll definitely be back this summer for more.

Worth the hype & wait in line! Overall waited about 30 mins from waiting on line to order to reviving the food. (we did get free samples!) Very limited menu, the loaded fries being the star, but they have cheesesteaks and burgers too. We ordered the half & half fries for $28 and they didn't disappoint. Personally I liked the chicken better but the chimichurri was the best part to me. Also got it sauced up with the spicy sauce, which didn't have much spice to it. Everyone we encountered at the Colonial Grill was friendly and working hard.

I had the pleasure of visiting Colonial Grill! The Steak & Fries were perfectly cooked to a medium. The sauces were amazing - you can get them on the side or on the food. I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. I also tried the Maduro (Sweet Plantains), which were delicious, but I forgot to take a picture.

Absolutely loved the sauces here, the fries were cooked well but next time I might ask if I can get them a little well done if that's possible. I will definitely get chicken next time instead of the steak because the steak had a little too much fat for my liking, but they cooked it really well so the pieces without fat were very redeemable. Will be coming back for the chicken fries and to try the cheesesteak maduro!!! amazing father son duo couldn't recommend supporting them enough.

This food truck was worth all the hype, waiting on line for 45 minutes plus was kind of annoying tho. But cheers to the owner and his crew they had good energy, great work ethic that's why they had such a big customer base. Food was delicious. That's all I need to say if in Morristown definitely stop by.

Was my first time trying the social media viral steak and fries. It was good, very saucy as you can see. Steak was a little tougher than I expected but I guess you get what you paid for, since it was around $23. I couldn't eat too much because it made me feel very full and greasy afterwards. It also had a long wait of 30+ minutes but after you order they gave a little sample of their fries as a thank you

I've been wanting to try and happened to be near Morristown this weekend. We lined up around 11:30 and were 4th in line. Once they opened the ordering and getting our food was super fast! We got a steak and fries, a regular cheesesteak and a maduro cheesesteak. We wanted to try the patacon cheeseburger but unfortunate they weren't serving burgers - next time! Service was great. The dad was super friendly and engaging. We got a sample of the fries while we waited for our food. We had about a 40 minute drive home but the food was still delicious, even after reheating in the oven. All three things were amazing. They use a white cheese instead of yellow for the cheesesteaks and it's so good. The added maduros to the cheesesteak brings a nice twist. $55 for all 3 things and the portions are huge!! We had enough for two meals. This place is so worth the drive and wait (if the kind is long). We definitely want to come back and try the patacon cheeseburger.

The best steak and fries I've ever had. I will definitely be coming back. The sauce combination is perfect and the fries are cooked perfectly. I can't even count how many times I said "this is so delicious" as I ate it. I would definitely recommend to get all the toppings, they made for the most perfect combination. The tostones were also perfection. The amazing service took the experience up even further and we did not mind waiting at all.

Stopped at The Colonial Grill food truck in Hoboken and grabbed their signature plantain burger along with the steak & fries. The plantain burger was really unique -- instead of bread, it's pressed fried plantains holding together a juicy beef patty, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, and a tangy sauce. It was hearty, flavorful, and surprisingly held together well. Definitely a creative twist if you want something different from the usual burger. The steak & fries was loaded -- tender steak slices piled over crispy fries, topped with a creamy sauce and some diced onions/peppers for extra flavor. It was rich and indulgent, like a full meal on its own. Service was quick and friendly even with a line, and the truck has a fun vibe with "Sauce it up!" as their theme. Overall, a great stop for comfort food with a creative Latin-inspired twist. - worth checking out if you're in Hoboken or spot them around NJ.

The Colonial Grill was recommended by one of my patients, and honestly, it ended up being one of the best food decisions I've made in a long time. Food: I had the steak frites with spicy sauce and garlic cilantro sauce... absolutely out of this world. The steak was perfectly cooked, the fries were seasoned just right, and the whole platter was more than enough for two people. I also grabbed a passionfruit smoothie that instantly transported me to Portugal -- bright, fresh, and refreshing. Service: The owner, Kevin, made me feel right at home by being super kind, welcoming, and patient. His father was great too, and you can tell they care about the experience. Be warned: the lines are very long, so get there early, it's first come, first serve and totally worth the wait. Aesthetic: It's a food truck setup right in the middle of the Morristown Green, and the line usually stretches down to the corner. Simple, street-side vibes with high-quality food that rivals any sit-down spot.

Worth the hype, 5/5! Got here 20min before open and was about 10-15th in line. Service was amazing, they handed out samples of fries to every person ordering. The workers are just genuinely friendly and personable folks, no other way to describe it. Ordered the steak and fries and would ABSOLUTELY order it again. They give you soooo much meat it's definitely worth the price. They'll grill the steak to your order of wellness. The seasonings drizzled on top were perfection, garlic and cilantro sauce & truffle chimichurri, not too heavy. I was really hungry and left completely satisfied, but if you've got a smaller appetite could definitely split an order. Plenty of spots around the park to plop down and eat.

Food Absolutely amazing! Steak melts right in your mouth. Fries are delicious. Sauce is out of this world. Service The wait was about 1 hour on a Sunday afternoon. The person taking the order was handing out free fries samples due to the long wait. Extremely friendly staff. Spoke with the owner(younger one). Had a great conversation with him. I find it great that he stops and chops it up a little with each and every customer even when they're extremely busy. This is what I feel differentiates them from other food businesses. That and their always positive energy. Ambiance Ambiance was great. Everyone seemed excited to try out their food.

How can we locate where this food truck is and when? I've randomly seen them in the parking lot at Ginty pool which is awesome, I'd just like to know if they have a schedule or use social media to announce their location.

According to their Facebook they are only at The Green in downtown Morristown. They have their full schedule on FB

For starters, the chicken is flavorful, fresh and always on point. The rice and beans as well, but french fries are always a miss - stale and floppy - but the chicharron makes up for it! The only downside here: if you don't speak Spanish, you're screwed with both placing the order and picking up primarily due to it being a family owned establishment in a heavily populated Latin/Hispanic community. I've tried calling in a handful of times and have been put on hold for a while or hung up on after a few tries. It's pretty tough to have a conversation with them primarily due to the loud background noise and distant tone picked up by their touch less headsets the employees wear. It can get a bit frustrating if you're not able to speak moderate Spanish, but the alternative is just order Uber Eats or DoorDash, honestly lol it's still so worth it though!
