Mega BBQ is in a busy location just on the periphery of the Green. Parking is limited. There's a lot behind the building with a handful of spots and street parking is scarce. When I entered, there were two women up front and I could hear the grill sizzling in the background. Alfredo Guiterrez was playing Columbian music in the background. It was about 75 outside and the place was slightly air conditioned. Not too hot. I ordered a Mega Chicken sandwich and a side of rice (about $20). It comes loaded with egg, onion, ketchup, mayo, lettuce, tomato and mozzarella cheese. I opted to hold the mayo and tomato. The order was ready in 10 minutes. The sandwich smelled amazing. If there was egg and chesee, I didn't see it. It was pretty much what I would expect for a grilled chicken sandwich. It was good. The onions were well cooked and complemented the sandwich. I placed an order over the phone based on the prices listed on the restaurant's website. When I arrived to pick up my food, I was charged almost $30 more. At no point during the phone order was I informed of a price difference. When I asked them to honor the online prices, they refused and were incredibly rude. The only reason I still purchased the food was because I was bringing it to a function. Had they honored their advertised prices, I would have considered returning. They have various roast meats for sale including chicken and ribs, with an addition of a side. The service here is quick. Easily can become a frequent spot for anyone who lives in town. Not sure if I would go out of my way to drive here if I didn't live in town though. This has become one of my favorite dinner spots. Great for dine in or take out. I personally enjoy sitting inside- lots of good smells, nice people, and there always seems to be a soap opera in Spanish on the TV and it just makes you feel at home when you are there haha. The food prices are super reasonable for very delicious food. The meats are never dried out and always flavorful (same goes for the rice). The fries have always been crispy and served super hot. Avocado is always fresh and ripe. Also LOVE their mozzarella sticks. The cheese pull is 10/10 and the coating is very crunchy and breadcrumb-y (if that makes sense). Terrible. Never order from here. EVER. They told me 25 minutes max and I waited an hour and a half for 4 empanadas and cold fries. On top of that, they weren't even the right empanadas. So I waited 90 minutes for the wrong empanadas and cold fries for a restaurant that is EIGHT MINUTES AWAY FROM ME. Terrible. Nunca pida desde aquí. EVER. Great tasty food. Was feeding 14 contractors for lunch and ordered whole chickens cut up in a couple pans, salad with dressing and couple pans of yellow rice. Had 2 plates from lunch special menu: pork ribs, beef. Both comes with cold drink (we had Diet Coke, can), soup (it was chicken soup , look at the soup, in big bowl), rice, black beans and fries. Ordered the combo and it was horrible both the ribs and steak were hard as a rock and tons of fat. Took over 20 minutes to order as i was passed person to person to help understand my order. Not real BBQ, not a hint of bbq on either pieces of meat. I could have done better on my own grill. Don't waste your money not worth it. Go up the block to Cafe Y' Canella the food there is soooo much better. Never had a hard as a rock piece of meat there. Tried Mega bbq due to reviews on line. They must have paid people to review. I ordered food for my team to congratulate them on their hard work, the driver was pleasant but the food quality was not there not sure if it was rushed but the chicken was not cooked thru and it made two of my employees sick. I hope this was a one time error. I'm sorry but we threw away 87 dollars worth of food and very disappointed in the food quality served to us. One of the reviewers said it best "quick and cheap". Based off a visit to this place yesterday. The BBQ chicken wasn't even BBQ chicken, more like roasted or rotisserie chicken. Chicken has no flavor whatsoever other than it being seasoned with salt and pepper and very dry. No BBQ sauce on the chicken either, instead served on the side, rice was pretty basic, nothing special about either and fries weren't fresh. Another note, the workers with long hair weren't even wearing a hair net and that's a food safety violation, especially if you are handling food of your customer. First visit. Love the convenient small parking lot behind the restaurant. Comfortable chairs and table. Enjoyed the home-made chicken soup and the half chicken with rice although a little greasy. My friends enjoyed their burger and fries and horchata. Our wait person was also nice and attentive but, as noted, English is NOT spoken well here so be simple and clear. Great food, like the best in town if your looking for something quick and cheap. Have to give three stars because the girls on the phone are THE worst- talk over you on the phone when you're placing an order, when you ask how long it will be if you're grabbing pick up, the answer is always "20 minutes."At this point we know it's 30+ minutes so we'll go a bit later and still go in to pick up our order just to be told it'll be another 15 minutes.
