On to the pizza- have tried many Detroit style pizzas over the years, I would say this was more Detroit "inspired", Aside from the edges, It had a soft bready crust - a little too fluffy compared to the crisp, almost focaccia-like crust we are accustomed to. Sometimes I watch those videos where tourists go to places like Egypt or India and get absolutely ripped off, and I think, "Thank God I don't have to deal with that here in New Jersey." Stopped by here while I was in the area and so glad I did! Cute casual but lovely interior with seating indoor and outdoor. You order at the front and can seat anywhere in the restaurant. If you're doing take out you pick it up in the back. They have sandwiches, pizzas and pastas available. You can't purchase pizzas by the slice you have to order the full pie, prices are around $30 for the full pie. I ordered pasta to go which came with a slice of sourdough bread. Great pizza. I will say the Detroit style vodka tasted so fresh, the bite was so soft but crunchy crust and non overpowering vodka sauce. Same goes for the grandma pie. It's bigger than it looks, but delicious. Definitely a place to come on a Friday night. But it does get crowded quick so plan accordingly. You seat yourself and when you are ready you go to the counter and the ladies will take care of you. Side note : this isn't just a pizzeria. Coniglois is a great place for lunch or a coffee and a sweet treat. They have so many options of baked goods and a case of bread made in house that you could take home. Overall it was fantastic. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but that's expected given the area. Service was good -- you order at the counter. The vibe is trendy with nice garage doors that open up onto the sidewalk, giving it a nice, open feel. It wasn't busy when we went in the middle of the day, but from what I've seen at night, it gets super packed. They're planning to expand next door. Pizza is def well above average, but their 'Italian' sub barely had any meat/cheese. Stuffed with lettuce and tomato to bulk it up and make it seem substantial. This was my second time having aid here, but this time I got it delivered. The first time I got a grandma pie, which is not my favorite. Updated review a couple of years and many visits later: this was five stars on our first try, but unfortunately I have to take a star away for lack of consistency from this place. The round pies are always solid, but the Sicilian is completely hit or miss; when it's good, it's GREAT, but when it's not, it's just okay, and at this price point, it needs to be great every time time. (Sidenote, the Tavolino guy I mentioned in my first review left after a few months and opened his own place in Rutherford called Casano's.) They started serving breakfast a while ago, sandwiches and different pastries, which I really like, but again, the consistency is lacking. The bomboloni were soft, fluffy, doughy perfection when Coniglio's first started making them, but lately they've been way overcooked/too dark on top. The eggs on the breakfast sandwiches are super fluffy and plentiful, but again, if I'm paying $10 for a sausage/egg/cheese on a bagel, I would expect that. Still a great place, but we admittedly go less frequently than we thought we would because the price is too high for not knowing what you're going to get. I think I have my new favorite spot for pizza in NJ. To be frank,it all started with my uneducated statement amongst friends that I'm yet to find tasty pizza in the state...this is definitely hit! And what's more,they have a great selection of sourdough pastries,Italian frozen delicacies and coffee under the same roof. Very cozy interior,musical background was on-point (think of 50's jazzy vibes). Once in,you need to order at the front but then the food is brought to your table. Our group of 5 ordered 2 pizzas and had just about enough room in our bellies for some desert (croissants & bambolinos!). Pizza choices were Vodka Straccatella and Nonna's Spinach-both had a lovely crust,but we all voted for the Vodka as our favorite because of its flavors and creamyness; Nonna's was a tad dry! Love this place! It's a nice open area with sweet staff who always find a way to make a seat open. The food is absolutely scrumptious, get the bacon egg and cheese croissant, it's so fulling but you'll always be satisfied coming here. And it has such a cute little atmosphere when they close the outdoor space. I came here with my grandparents multiple times and they also love it, it's one of my grandmas favourite places. read more

It's actually so good that it's worth a trip to Morristown and it's associated parking debacle just to have it. I took off a single star because they don't offer slices which is annoying if eating alone or with just one other person. Since I stopped in, I've returned a few times and it's consistently good, delicious actually. So if you're ever in Morristown with at least one other person, you should pay them a visit. With all the hype from Best of Lists and Barstool, we checked this spot out for an early dinner. You order and pay at the counter and then you grab a seat and they bring the food out to you. The place isn't too big so it quickly became chaotic and really loud as the more and more people come in. We only got the pizza but they have a ton of salads, pastas, baked goods, and even gelato! Now the pizza. We tried the Brooklyn round ($26) and the Nonna's Spinach Pie ($28). The Nonna's was absolutely perfect- good flavor, crunch, and absolutely huge. The Brooklyn Round had a good crunch and was just good pizza. We had tons of leftovers and the pizza did heat up really well the next day which is a plus. The dine in experience sort of left a bit to be desired but the pizza here is delicious and quality so my recommendation is for takeout. read more

My friend took me to try out Coniglio's, stating it's "Morristown's best pizza." We ordered the vodka stracciatella and salsiccia pepper onion round pizzas. The vodka stracciatella was my favorite of the two, with a perfect creamy, cheesy base that I loved. Though, I would have preferred for the basil to be cut up rather than us having to roughly bite through it. As for the salsiccia pepper onion pizza, I liked the sliced sausages but wish there was more of this topping. For our order, the pizza was also dripping in oil, which drenched the crust and was a bit off-putting. It seems this place can be hit or miss depending on your order. Located in the heart of Morristown, Coniglio's had been on my pizza hit list for a few years ever since a friend clued me in on them. Sure enough, an online search reveals they've won several awards, with some considering them as the best pizza in New Jersey, so I had to try them out even though Morristown is a bit outside of my normal dining radius. We had heard they served up old fashioned soda that was hand mixed, so had to try that out since I'm not aware of any other place that offers it. Honestly, we felt that it tasted like a slightly flatter version of your typical Coke, so although we're glad to have tried it, felt it was more of a novelty thing rather than something we'd try again. We wanted to try out several items, so ordered the mozzarella sticks, meatballs, vodka chicken parmesan sandwich, and the upside down Sicilian pizza. You could tell everything was high quality. The mozzarella sticks, while not the best I've had, were solid, and the hand breaded variety with just the right amount of flavor in the breading. The vodka chicken parmesan sandwich was very flavorful with a decent cut of chicken and the right taste of vodka sauce working in harmony with the cheese, but wasn't a fan of the sesame seed roll it was served on. Knowing how it's normally served, if I were to reorder it, I'd pass on the vodka sauce in favor of tomato sauce and ask for regular Italian bread without the sesame seeds. The upside down Sicilian pizza was a bit of a disappointment given the hype. We agreed that the dough/crust was the best part, but the cheese and sauce didn't have the flavor profile we prefer in pizza. The sauce relied too heavily on the herbs and the tomato really didn't pack much of a punch. It wasn't bad as all the ingredients were high quality, but it just wasn't in our wheelhouse for preferred pizza flavor; however, I can see how some who like more artisanal pizzas may really like it. If I were to return, I'd stick to one of their more traditional round pizzas to see how that fares rather than go with a Sicilian pie again. Their display of baked goods looked incredible, so we went with both the almond and Nutella filled croissants. They were both decent and above average in flavor, but also came with a hefty price tag in the $6-7 range, so probably wouldn't order them again unless I was really in the mood for a pastry. There wasn't much seating indoors, but staff did a great job of turning over tables quickly on a busy Saturday night. While they didn't have a formal wait staff and food was dropped off at tables, there was a super friendly elderly staff member bringing water to the tables and asking how everything was. Overall, the 4/5 Yelp rating seems just about right as all the food was fresh & high quality, but several of the recipes just didn't quite hit the mark with us. I recommend others give Coniglio's a chance to see for themselves, and look forward to returning to try out some of their other menu items. read more

It's a little on the denser side, but it had a nice sweet flavor and was fresh-tasting even in the middle of the afternoon. I also had the strawberry-filled bombolone. Wow - quite the combination of sweet (but not overly sweet) strawberry filling inside a doughnut-like outer shell. I cut it in half and the strawberry cream spilled out. I took a bite, and strawberry cream spilled out. And yet the inside was still full of strawberry cream! Can't ask for more than that - I will be back just to get this. read more

So I have now gone back to Coniglio's to give it another try and I'm happy to report I am now impressed. The first time trying it, I went against my norm by going with the grandma's based on other reviews I had read. I almost never stray from a plain pie (although they really don't have anything "plain" on the menu). I didn't much care for it. This time I got the round Brooklyn, which is the closest thing to a standard cheese pizza. It was very well baked with a nice crunchy crust. The crust around the rim was quite a bit wider than I usually like but it was very nice so I wasn't too mad about it. The sauce was probably the highlight. It was just a tiny bit chunky/thick and had a very nice flavor to it. I'm sure the cheese was absolutely top shelf but it wasn't my favorite (again, given my non-discriminating palate). Huge basil leaves are also not on my list of favorites but, being huge, they are easy enough to pick off. All in all, it was a very good pizza. Climbed several dozen spots higher on my NJ pizza ranking. read more

Last week my family tried Coniglio's Morristown location. We tried the pizza, the roast pork sandwich and their pasta with bolognese sauce. The food is good. They also sold breads, pastries, and Italian filled donuts that you can buy. The interior of the restaurant is nice and it's decorated with pictures of rabbits. The entire family went here after Sunday's Mets game. The nice thing about Mo-Town on Sundays is that parking is free. There was a good size crowd, but the restaurant was not overly loud. Nevertheless, we rolled up here to get a pizza. Of course, our daughter wanted the chicken parmesan and not pizza. We ordered at the register and were then told where to sit so the servers would know where to bring our food. We got the Brooklyn Round, which is a Margherita Pizza. $25 is pretty steep for that particular pie, in my opinion. We got it well done as we do with most pizzas, otherwise there is too much tip sag with the slices. The crust was the best part of that particular pizza, so I'll leave it at that. Our daughter housed the chicken parm, so I will go out on a limb and say that she enjoyed it thoroughly. We took a couple desserts to go and they were delicious.
