They handed us either red or white wine. The top floor had a personal bar and an amazing looking wine cellar. Ended up getting the shrimp cocktail- I wish there would have been more than 3 shrimp on my plate. I also had the salmon for my entree. I really liked the Asian flavoring that came with this salmon- the bok choy and ginger made this a not to miss dish. I really the barley that was underneath the salmon. It was really delicious. Stopped in for dinner at the bar around 5:45pm on a weeknight. I figured I was beating the rush but was surprised that the restaurant never filled in. The few groups I saw, all had reservations upstairs and by the time I left around 7pm, I was still the only person downstairs and at the bar. The bartender was friendly and took great care of me but I felt bad for her since I was one of her only customers all night. It seemed like the manager and some employees had some disagreements during my dinner, which was awkward. I loved the happy hour flight options and really enjoyed mine. For my dinner, I went with the pan roasted duck, and I loved it. It was cooked perfectly and the sides accompanied the dish well. Overall, the place looks so cool and the food was great. Town Bar & Kitchen has a lot of potential - with its very modern space, modern urban aesthetic, and energetic atmosphere - but TBK fails in execution - with disappointing service - particularly at this price point. TBK looks and feels like a more upscale version of The Office in Morristown.. which makes sense considering that it is owned by the 40North restaurant group that operates The Office, Piattino, and Black Horse Tavern & Pub. The open, airy space is breathtaking, but the dining area isn't ideal for a quiet and peaceful meal. Patrons' loud, animated conversations at the bar and nearby tables reverberate across the room and the concrete floor, making it challenging to have a private conversation. The service has been a disappointment on numerous occasions. On my most recent visit, after being seated on the first floor and ordering drinks from our server, the manager came by and asked us to relocate to a larger table on the second floor. The server on the second floor was training a new employee and the handoff between the servers was very awkward, with our drinks never making it upstairs to our new table. The menu is focused on modern American cuisine, with seafood, beef, pork, and pasta selections, with entrees ranging from $28 to $44. The braised short rib ($38), served with yucca fries and broccolini, was tasty. My dining companion opted for the Miso Glazed Salmon ($36), served with pickled mushrooms, edamame, and roasted potatoes, which she thought was good. Unfortunately, the vegetarians in our party really struggled with the menu.. finding the Cacio E Pepe Fiocchi ($28) and Roasted Beet Salad ($15) very disappointing. Overall, TBK has been a mixed experience. I enjoy the modern upscale ambiance and the tasty food, but I've been let down on more than one occasion by the disappointing service and noisy environment. Wifey and I had a date night recently and she made reservations at Town Bar and Kitchen in Morristown. The place was pretty empty when we first got there so we were seated right away. Our waiter (who was excellent all night) quickly took our drink orders and by the time he came back we were ready to order. We divided to start with the Coccoli with Stracchino & Prosciutto - an absolute home run of fried pizza dough with a spreadable cheese and Prosciutto di Parma. For our entrees Wifey got the short ribs with peas, mushrooms and a pea purée and I had the grilled ribeye (which came sliced) with crispy fried leeks and a smear of mashed potatoes. The tastes and the plating were excellent...clearly chef has his/her creativity flowing here. We were both pretty stuffed so we passed on dessert (though the menu looked amazing). Overall a very nice evening. One thing did leave a bit of a bad taste for us however...While we were initially slightly annoyed at having to take an early reservation because they were 'booked solid' they actually weren't and by the time we left they weren't even close to capacity - so the mild annoyance kicked up a notch. I wish I could have only ordered four. Four were delicious. Two were HORRIBLE. Hope I don't get sick. No way they were all the same "Alaskan" oysters. We had a FANTASTIC experience this weekend at The Counter. We have done a few chef's experiences/tasting menus over the years and this was definitely one of the best. Chef Calvin outdid himself with the 7 courses. It was so great to watch him work and we enjoyed talking with him just as much. Our server, Dave was a gem! Disappointing experience. Very nice service with simple and clean decor, but it is overpriced with small portions, subpar quality, and zero attention to detail from the chef. To be honest, I left hungry, which nobody wants or deserves after a $35 entree. One adult pasta dish was identical to the kids macaroni & cheese meal, only at 2.5x the price, and it was equally as disheartening. When I ordered my salmon entree, I asked that the dish contain no salt. It was listed as having a soy w/chili lime sauce, which I also asked not be included. When received, The salmon was good but seated atop the base of the meal, which was farro drowning in a soy broth so salty that I couldn't eat it. They offered an alternate side, bok choy, which I accepted then transferred the salmon from the salty soy to the bok choy plate. And yes, the bok choy was salty, despite my request. My husband and I were gifted the "Counter Experience" and had the BEST night! Chef Jeff was amazing, created the most delicious menu and every bite was top notch. We really could not pick a favorite course (and we tried), every one was truly incredible and so unique. This was the best meal we can remember having in a long long time! The entire staff was so kind and great from start to finish! You do not know the menu until the food is served to you which made the whole experience even more fun. Initially I was going to give this place 4 stars until I saw a mouse! Yes friends, a mouse ! The cocktails are great. The spritza is my fav. The pizza bough bites are fabulous and I highly recommend. The empanadas were good but we didn't like that green sauce at all. The service was great. Our waiter (bigger guy) was friendly and gave us great recommendations. Love the decor of the place. All was great until that mouse started running around the floor. Went and hid behind the table and all the staff was just nonchalant about it. No one even raised an eyebrow so that makes me believe this is a normal thing at this establishment. Get an exterminator guys. Do something. Both times I've had good waiters/waitresses. I can appreciate their food. The drinks are good as well. For happy hour, the food and drinks come in flights, which is fun. The food we tried: tuna tartare (yes for me), Caesar salad (simple, but good), lobster Mac and cheese (this was okay), cacio e pepe fiocchi (yum!), Jamaican jerk chicken (okay), creste di Gallo pasta (good if you like truffle oil) and lollipop buffalo chicken wings (yes for me). No doubt TBK has an absolutely stunning bar which you can see as soon as you enter. It is quite a sight. Its a different but equally beautiful view from the second floor as well where you also have the option to do indoor or outdoor seating. We came here for hubster's bday and Gabby, who was our server that day, was just phenomenal. She was very friendly, polite and knew just exactly what we wanted - Even gave me a great drink recommendation. We started off with some delicious and slightly spicy calamari. First time having it with pineapple and it was actually good. The tuna tartar was fresh and the empanada was filling. For entrees, I got the Flank steak. It was good but I was expecting it to be a little more tender. We also got caesar salad and Tagliatelle bolognese which the family says was also good. My favorite part was the Banoffie Pie. It was definitely a sweet ending. The Zeppolies were a little dry and crumbly and not exactly to my liking. Despite that, we still had a good time. My experience was pleasant it was Easter Sunday, I was out on my motorcycle after visiting a friend that was suffering from cancer. I wanted to stop someplace and have something light to eat, I ended up having half a dozen oysters and braise short ribs in a tomato-based sauce with pasta I did some wine pairing with my meals I had a Riesling with the oysters and I had a cloudline Pinot noir from Oregon... Which paired wonderfully with the braids short ribs being that it was very subtle and light on a pallet and finished without any aftertaste. My only complaint is the young female service hanging out at the end of the bar being very chatty you could hear them over the customers in a place. In a place with a minimalist design such as the town bar and kitchen, the server should not be hanging out at the end the bar and being very chatty. read more

Wow! Such a wonderful experience at Town. There are so many Morristown restaurants on my list, but it will be hard to avoid visiting again in the near future. I haven't really been dining inside, so when I saw that Town had an outdoor roof space with heat lamps I jumped at the chance on a relatively mild night. They take advance reservations, which I'd definitely recommend since the outdoor space is so small. There were also a few igloos out front, but those seem to fill up well in advance. Everything that we ate and drank was top-notch. I'm pregnant and missing cocktails like crazy. When I asked about mocktails the first thing our server offered up was a strawberry mojito, which happens to be my favorite drink. It was delicious and refreshing and *almost* as good as the real thing. (I'll take what I can get!) The pulled chicken arancini was delicious and an order came with four large sized rice balls with a flavorful aioli. For my main I tried the short rib garganelli. The short rib was juicy and cooked perfectly and the pasta was al dente. Overall it was as really tasty dish, and the portion was large. I tried some of my husband's lobster tail and squid ink linguine (on special). The dish was flavorful and bursting with fresh garlic. Service was outstanding. Everyone was so sweet and attentive. They make sure that each table is equipped with it's own heat lamp, and it was a much more comfortable outdoor dining experience than I could have hoped for in January. I wouldn't hesitate to return again while weather is still chilly, but I'm most looking forward to enjoying that mocktail on the roof once temps are on the up! read more

I really enjoyed dining here for dinner tonight as I was able to enjoy a cocktail from their Valentine's Day special menu. Cupid's Quivering Conniption was sooo delicious! I loved the lingonberry flavor and the fizzy consistency. My entrée, the ribeye, was very tasty and tender. I thought that the aguachile sauce that was drizzled over was the perfect enhancement. My entrée was accompanied by mashed purple potatoes and grilled pineapple, which were all wonderful. I also tried a piece of the bonzini. It was cooked to perfection and seasoned beautifully. I would love to try that as an entree next time. I also look forward to coming back as the menu had an array of inventive cocktails and delicious entrée options. Went here last night and ate dinner out in one of their pods! Reservations were super easy online and felt extremely clean! This was our first time here and it did not disappoint. We both had a cider/beer from the menu. They had many mixed drinks just nothing that caught our eye. We started off with the Coccili (pizza dough balls) which were shockingly delicious with the cheese and meat. We ordered the skirt steak and the filet mignon. Both were both plated well and we're cooked to perfection. One comment I do have to make is if you are looking to have leftovers this is probably not the place for you. Everything was nicely portioned for one person. We maybe had a few bites each leftover. Also their menu was a little limited but we felt we had plenty to choose from personally. Just something you want to look at ahead of time. The pods were located on the street which was nice but not the best environment as Morristown is pretty busy and cars were driving by honking their horns. I think if we returned we would try the rooftop seating. Overall pricing was fair for the area but a little high. Parking was easy to find on a Monday night but it is all street parking so bring some quarters! Lastly I did notice the pods has a 90 min limit which was totally fine for us but something to note! I was disappointed in seeing this -- there are plenty of other places that have a more expansive menu and aren't as expensive. We did think the food was a bit overpriced. The pasta dish I ordered was okay -- the pasta was a bit soft. We thought the food was okay, but we're not dying to go back. The service was good. Definitely look at the menu before going. I eyed the beef empanadas from the table next to me and can't wait to try those next time. For entrees, we got the salmon and cacio e pepe. In the past, they had a lower rating overall, but I see that has recently changed and they have earned that. I went last night with my girlfriends and we had a great time at Town. The food and drinks were delicious. I'm not sure what they changed, however, kudos to them! For the main, I had the braised short ribs and it was amazing. The meat was super juice and pulling apart, just the way a good short ribs should be. They have reduced their menu, but still have a great variety and options available. This is a drinks review. My pal and I missed our train and so decided to get a couple cocktails while we waited for the next one. I ordered the grapefruit cocktail while she got the kiwi and when I say they were both awful, I mean HORRIBLE. They were mainly sugar, sickeningly sweet and sadly ultimately undrinkable. Service was slow but nice, but the servers didn't prepare the drinks so they still got their tip. After all, it wasn't their fault the drinks were gross. So if you love this place for the food, we only got the drinks and can't comment on the former. Save your money when it comes to buying cocktails here is my ultimate recommendation. read more

Converted over from a prior Sebastian's steakhouse, and owned by Town Management Group, this two story restaurant has a bar downstairs and up, back area open to the elements for a summer drink outside, or seating within for around 140 people. We tried as a group: - 1/2 Dozen Oysters* Blue Point - they were cold and fresh, and the best part was the house-made cocktail sauce with chunky tomatoes - Grilled Octopus with Salsa Brava, Roasted New Potatoes, Piquillo Peppers, Nduja Aioli - octopus I could have had a bit more of as the dish was more everything other than the octopus - Lollipop Wings were French Cut Chicken Wings w/ Housemade Spicy Buffalo Sauce; interesting and easy way to eat them, but tasted like many other wings I've had, didn't differentiate with the buffalo sauce at all. - Tuna Tartare was ok, the chips needed to be a little more solid (they cracked too easily) - Salad shared was an Pomegranate Brussels Sprout Salad with Mixed Greens, Dried Cranberries, Shaved Almonds, Honey Crisp Apples, Pomegranate-Orange Vinaigrette - this was good Main dish I tried was the Grass Fed Short Rib Garganelli short-rib, which the pasta was well-done, but the short rib fell lacking with a feel more of dry pulled pork than a well-done, falling-off-the-bone, melt-in-my-mouth short rib. Overall mixed on the food but a fun ambiance and will likely be back to try other dishes plus the desserts (too rushed this time to do it).
