We had lunch at Orela in Morristown and were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. We arrived around 1:30 p.m. on a sunny Saturday afternoon, and the place was nearly empty. Since the weather was perfect, we decided to sit outside with our dog. The service was very attentive throughout the meal. We started with fresh pineapple juice and a frozen margarita ($14). The juice was light and refreshing, while the margarita was perfectly balanced and delicious. For appetizers, we shared several plates: Brisket Nachos ($18) - Slow-roasted brisket with yellow habanero salsa, cheddar, black beans, radish, crema, and pico de gallo. The portion was enormous--very New Jersey-sized--and full of flavor. Tasting Trio of Guacamole ($16) - Guacamole Casa: Avocado, onion, tomato, cilantro, serrano, and sea salt M - Serrano Marmalade: Serrano, lime, and agave - Fresa:* Fresh seasonal fruit mix The guacamole trio was outstanding; we loved all three, especially the Serrano Marmalade. It was so good I wish I could find something like it in New York City. For our mains, we ordered: Huevos Rancheros ($17) - Sunny-side-up eggs with refried beans, rice, pico de gallo, chorizo Milano, ranchera sauce, crema, queso fresco, red onion, serranos, and crispy corn tostadas. Shrimp Tacos ($24)** - Seared pineapple achiote shrimp with mango slaw, aji verde, pineapple achiote adobo, and micro cilantro on corn tortillas. Steak Chalupas, Cholula Style ($29) - Seared ribeye steak served with bone marrow mashed potatoes, cotija, salsa verde aioli, crema, shredded cabbage, and lime. By the time our entrées arrived, we were already 80% full from the appetizers, but everything was flavorful and beautifully prepared. Went with a reservation on a Friday evening and were seated right away. The space itself was bright and busy, and our service was fantastic. Our server was sweet and made great recommendations about the menu! To drink, I had the watermelon frozen margarita, and it was stronger than I expected. Still sweet and refreshing, though! My friends and I shared the truffle tuna tostada. The fish was delicious and I loved the truffle aioli on top! For my meal, I had the shrimp tacos. I liked that instead of a few big, clumsy tacos, it came with 5 smaller tacos. I found it so much easier to eat the tacos this way! Overall, I enjoyed my meal. Stopped by here last night for a drink before going to a show at the Mayo. Can't really review the food since we didn't have any, but the pork nachos and tacos did look delicious. Place has a really nice ambience and a great bar with a fantastic tequila selection. It was happy hour , so I got frozen lychee margarita and it was fantastic. My wife got a tequila and grapefruit. Bartender/mixologist was great at his craft and it was a joy watching him work. We will definitely be back to try the food. read more

Great spot! Ambiance is super cool, lots of fun colors and decorations. Our waiter was pretty impressive given we were a 10 top. We ordered almost one of everything. I think my favorite was the brisket tacos. Everything was good, obviously some better than others, but I was very impressed by the table selections. Guac was good, chips were good, drinks were good. Churros and Tres leche cake was also good! I left feeling full but not disgustingly stuffed! The only knock is that it is pretty loud. My husband and I went to Sunday lunch. We had no specific waiter, little attention & found it challenging to get anyone to take our order. One served drink, someone else took order, brought food. No one was rude but we were basically on our own. Host was on his phone, 2 waiters at bar chatting and 3 staff members talking among themselves at the water station. If you took even half the effort to care or address the situation while we were there - this would have been a non issue. Also - when the sun-in-the-eye situation was brought up to whoever sat us down - they tried moving around an umbrella at the end of the walkway that would in no way help our table, at any point. It was just a formality. When I mentioned - the sun was straight in the eye, the response was "come on guys - the sun will be gone in 15-20 mins" in a dismissive manner. It didn't - for the next hour. Also - confronting someone for a review - with no intent of trying to understand, acknowledge or make things right isn't really customer centric. --original review below-- I was here with my wife and our young children, and I was genuinely shocked by how poorly we were treated. We were seated outside in the full sun, with no shade or umbrella -- while an empty, shaded table sat right next to us. We asked politely to be moved, especially since our kids were getting uncomfortable in the heat, but the staff refused without any reasonable explanation. It was baffling and honestly just felt like a power trip. What made things worse was that as we were getting ready to leave, the manager actually confronted us -- accusing us of writing a bad review (which we hadn't done). My husband and I were looking for a place to eat after a show at the PAC, and we ended up in Orale. At first we weren't going to eat there because I have food allergies and they had nothing I could eat. But they told us they could accommodate that, and replaced the tortillas I cannot eat with lettuce wraps. The food was absolutely delicious, the portions were generous, and everyone working there was just so nice and friendly. My husband and I go to Morristown quite frequently, and I look forward to eating there again! If you are thinking of going there, GO! If you are not thinking of going there, GO! My husband and I visited Orale for a late lunch. The decor is super vibrant and fun, and the service was friendly. We started out with the duck confit nachos, which disappointingly had a tiny amount of duck and instead were loaded up with black beans. They tasted good, but the absence of the duck was noticeable and for $16 I would've expected more. I had a frozen margarita which was refreshing and strong. We both ordered the Takes Juan to Know Juan which was really tasty - the chipotle cola BBQ sauce was delicious and really kicked it up a notch. The portions were generous, too. We arrived around 6 PM on Saturday -- early by most standards -- and contrary to the claim of a "busy night," the restaurant was more than half empty. There were plenty of open tables, including a shaded one directly next to ours, which remained vacant during our entire visit. We kindly asked to be moved out of the scorching sun, especially considering we were with our two small children, but our request was denied -- without any attempt to accommodate us, rearrange umbrellas, or "adjust the setup" as you now claim. As for the interaction with your manager: it was not an attempt to "understand our concerns." He approached us after our meal while we were preparing to leave and started the conversation with: "You left us a bad review." There was no interest in listening or resolving anything -- only to reprimand us for sharing our experience. That's not service, it's intimidation. To be clear: diners have every right to share their honest experience, at any time -- even while still at the restaurant -- without being publicly mischaracterized or privately confronted. We didn't come in with unreasonable demands. We just expected a bit of empathy, flexibility, and professionalism -- and received none. Initial Review: I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was truly disappointing. We were seated outside in the scorching sun with no umbrella or shade, despite there being an empty shaded table literally right next to us. When we asked to be moved, the staff refused without explanation, even though it would've been an easy and reasonable accommodation. What made things worse was the behavior of the restaurant manager. Awesome service, fun decor and one helluva strong and refreshing margarita. Why two stars? The food just wasn't edible. The flight of six carnitas tacos looked huge at first glance, but it's really just six teeeny tacos with the smallest amount of meat. Not carnitas meat either, but just bits of fried pork belly. The taco was about 90% onion, so it was like biting into a big mushy onion which made me gag. If they served three tacos instead of six with a normal proportion of meat and onions this would be a hit. My husband's chicken torta sandwich was basically a chicken finger on a roll with some sprouts. No veggies or anything special. I'm surprised to see so many stellar reviews for food! I'd say that maybe we ordered wrong, but I've been to their JC location a few times and the food has also always been a miss. The food was great! It isn't a huge menu but there are some unique options and everything was very fresh and enjoyable! The ambiance was just ok. Not bad - not great. The biggest issue was how much they rush you. We were a group of 6 friends catching up and they rushed the meal so much, despite there being no one waiting for a table etc. It's standard etiquette to wait until everyone is done with a course to clear plates so as not to rush those still eating, but so many restaurants make this mistake. They took our appetizers before we were even done. And had they let us sit, we would've just kept ordering drinks and chatting. But they removed EVERYTHING from our table (including our water glasses) and were hovering. So many servers asked if I was done with my entree when I was clearly still eating. And we were there for just over an hour at that point. It was strange...but a friend warned me she had a similar experience prior to us going. My only real complaint is that it's very loud inside. Something with the room's acoustics cause it because it's not overly loud from the patrons. But the food is great. Get the pork nachos as they're the best nachos around. They spread them out so each chip gets a mix of toppings. The carne asada with the truffle potatoes is also legit. The plancha, the enchiladas, the fish tacos ... all very good. I'd also ding them for the size of the margs. You only get like 5oz of liquid as they're served in a rocks glass with ice. I've been a fan of Orale, and I've been to their other locations in Jersey City and Hoboken. The Morristown location offers the same cocktails and menu. Come on a Tuesday for half-off tacos when you pay with cash! I always try their frozen margarita of the day; always flavorful and packs a punch. My go-to tacos are either the Borracho (fish) or Machin (bone marrow/pork belly). Service was attentive. This restaurant also offers the same colorful and eccentric Mexican wall art, which I enjoy. Second time here and the food and vibes were totally different from the first time around. The vibes were" Pretentious Mexican Food". People were not as friendly- not very welcoming when you first come in. The chips and guacamole were average...very chunky and didn't taste mixed well. Had the enchiladas which were bizarre. There were slimy/gummy bits in my chicken- quite a few of them. Not sure if this was cartilage pieces? Freaked me out a little. Did not finish my meal. Came after work with coworkers. 2 separate times once for sit down dinner, and once for happy hour at the bar. Our sit down dinner was great. We shared guac, pulpo salad. Their shareable guac has many different flavors like blue cheese and pork bits on top. All really tasty. I got the pork tacos and it wasn't what i expected the pork wasn't pulled it was crispy squares. It's $18 for 5 tacos. The frozen margarita are amazing, so far I've had watermelon and raspberry coconut. It's good for groups. My coworker is gluten free and most of the menu is gluten free. This is one of her favorite places to eat. When i went yesterday with my coworkers it was about 15 of us we took up the whole bar and some people were standing but no one mind. We came for the happy hour on Thursday. It's happy hour all night. We got duck nachos to share and they are HUGE perfect for being with a big group. I tried flautas they were full of flavor considering how small the piece of tried was. The fries here are also huge. The cut is wedges and they are extremely crispy. We all like the sauces they came with. Mild, hot, and really spicy. It's great to pregame or just come out with coworker. I wish they played better music. Went here for a work Christmas dinner. We had a decent size group and ordered at least two drinks each, appetizers and dinner so a good size check. Everything was absolutely perfect until at the end, out of nowhere the manager abruptly walked up and said "we need the table" and hurried us out the door which was CLEARLY uncalled for since it was plainly obvious from our body language that we were already getting ready to leave. Not ever have I experienced that level of blunt rudeness in a restaurant. Seems it's a problem with management at this restaurant based on previous comments. Terrible customer service. We had two reservations for 10 people (6 + 4) and asked for the tables to be close to each other. The manager -who needs serious and basic customer service training- said "we cannot guarantee it", even though the restaurant was almost empty. Thay finally assigned us to two tables in a room in the back, and we ordered drinks while we waited for the rest of the party to arrive. Suddenly, the manager walks in, and without explanation, gives one of our tables to another party. We tried to negotiate with the manager, but he would not even make eye contact with us.
