Terrible experience. Ordered an order of chicken tinga tacos, an order of shrimp tacos, etc.. The portions were ridiculously small. But WORSE, is that they forgot (?) to put the toppings on the tacos (no cheese, salsa verde, etc). Didn't find out until we got home. It was literally a dry corn shell with four 1/4 inch "shrimp" on it, and NOTHING ELSE. It would be funny if they didn't charge $17 for the order. The chicken tinga tacos were full of flavor, the BBQ pulled beef and guacamole were top quality, and the tres leches was absolutely to die for. The service was consistent the whole time, and the manager was very attentive, which made the experience even better. Honestly, people should visit a place before leaving a negative review. We ordered cocktails, Mexican Daisy and the Tequila Old Fashioned. The Mexican Daisy was delicious-- not too sweet but tasted the tequila. The spiced rim was so good. The Tequila Old Fashioned was a bit strong for my husband so I got to enjoy that cocktail as well. We ordered the carnitas and the camarones tacos. Our favorite was the camarones, the way the shrimp was spiced along with the pineapple combination was so good. The carnitas was great too- the pork was so tender and juicy. Good Mexican food, small dining area, full bar (?) on a side street in Summit. Family went here expecting a tacoria style spot but it's a sit down, full serve and full bar. Did I mention they have a bar which in Summit is a premium. Place is small but it makes it fun. During the warmer months they open up their garage style windows/wall which I am sure adds to the charm. Oh and the food is good. I really liked their carnitas (smoked) however next time I would opt for their CrunchWrap (crunchy taco within a burrito) as it seemed less messy and has more flavor. Their prices were really reasonable and the service was great. Bar area had like 10 seats, very casual with a tv. They do make a decent spicy margarita. I had the carnitas tacos.They were very good and had a definite bbq flavor to them. I also had two margaritas which were good and not that strong ( which was for the best). Followed up with churros which I enjoyed.Service was quick. Two criticisms: the chairs are uncomfortable and seem like pool chairs. An upgrade is called for. Two: They charge 3% for using a credit card. I had the cash and paid cash but I don't like that. I had intended to go to Fiorinos but saw the 3% add on when I started to walk in and walked out. When I asked for the check I told a different server "We ordered Cokes but they never arrived I just want to make sure they're not on the bill." She says "okay I'll comp them". I wanted to say, "No, comping implies we are getting something for free. We are getting nothing and paying nothing". But I had no interest in starting in with this perfectly nice girl for no reason. Oh boy, I don't know where to begin with my BarBacoa review. I think it's worth noting that it's beneficial to heed the warnings from other reviewers. I took my SO here for a birthday dinner, thinking we would try something new in Summit. The service was pretty good, and I was a fan of the house margaritas we ordered during the happy hour time slot. Personally, I'm not a fan of restaurants doing happy hour from 4-6, since it's a small window, but that's only a preference. We ordered nachos, which is one of my absolute favorite snacks, but my excitement was short-lived. The pile of nachos was rather bland, and the cheese was far too cold. What kind of nachos aren't served warm to hot? I wasn't a fan of that and ended up picking at the pile selectively. I had more hope for my smoked cauliflower tacos, which sounded delicious. The tacos are served with romesco salsa, which combined with smokey cauliflower pieces to make for a very off-putting taste. It's rare I'm disappointed with food orders, but these were singlehandedly the worst tacos I've ever had. All the food came out within minutes of ordering, which is a bit of a red flag. Decided to try BarBacoa while walking through downtown during the Summer Street Sounds. We tried the hushpuppys to start. They were a 5/5 and the highlight from dinner. They were unique and really tasty. The hot honey they come with was also delicious! I got the carnitas burrito bowl and my wife got the smoked cauliflower burrito bowl for our main entrees. Both were tasty and we both enjoyed them. The prices are on the more expensive side for tacos and burritos. They also charge a 3% fee for paying via credit card. This should be disclosed to customers ahead of time! Not a huge deal, but their prices are already fairly high and we only noticed it because we looked at the bill. Chicken Wings with a white sauce was caked on with chili powder that was chalky and appeared the seasonings were only partially cooked.
