The entire order was packaged perfectly, and there were no issues when I opened it I ordered the steak quesadilla with onions and it was very good. It had a slight kick, but as someone who doesn't tolerate spiciness very well, it was just enough for me. Over the last several years, Morristown has seen an influx of several new casual and not-so-casual Mexican and TexMex restaurants.. seemingly replacing the numerous frozen yogurt outlets that were the subject of an earlier culinary trend. Tacoria, which was one of the earliest participants in this recent trend, offers tasty, made-to-order TexMex cuisine in a trendy, fast-casual cafeteria-style ambiance. The cozy dining area, which is open to South Street when the weather is cooperative, only offers about a dozen tables for two or four diners, so it may be difficult to get seating during peak times. On several visits, we've had to stand around awkwardly holding our food while waiting for other diners to finish their meals and relinquish their table for us. After placing your order at the counter from the menu that allows you to build-your-own burritos, bowls, street tacos, salads, or nachos -- all of which is cooked to order -- grab a seat at one of the tables in the dining area and wait for your pager to buzz and let you know your meal is ready to be picked up. The service is very good with counterstaff that's very knowledgeable about the menu and terrific at making whatever accommodations a diner may require (vegetarian, lactose free, etc.). I'm a fan of the Burrito - Al Pastor ($12.50), comprised of ground marinated pork served with black beans, seasoned rice, and salsa in a grilled flour tortilla.. but I was surprised that my entree did not come with even a small portion of complimentary tortilla chips. My dining companion enjoyed her salad topped with marinated grilled chicken ($11), sliced avocado, black beans, pico de gallo, and cheese on a bed of romaine lettuce and topped with a pineapple lime dressing. There's a handful of complimentary homemade hot sauces - which range from mild verde to spicy habenero -- as well as several varieties of Cholula and Tabasco available (and small 'to go' containers if you're planning to dine elsewhere) if you want to kick things up a notch - and a Coca-Cola fountain machine offering unlimited refills of the basic Coca-Cola options (Coke, Diet Coke, etc.) if you've overdone it with the complimentary hot sauces. We will definitely be back! PRO TIP #1: Tacoria doesn't have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of on-street parking on South Street. I've visited this Tacoria location several times before and always enjoyed my experience, but this visit was a bit of a letdown. Tacoria is almost always busy, but this was the first time I had to wait over 20 minutes for food. My significant other and I placed our order and then went to find a place to sit, which was no easy task considering the seating here is pretty bad. We awkwardly crammed into a small area, and to make things worse, a couple that sat next to us later got their food before us. Frustrated, I went to the pickup area to check if they even had my order. A few minutes later, our food was finally ready. To top it off, my SO's chicken burrito was placed right next to my vegetarian Brussels sprout nachos, and I noticed chicken had ended up on my plate. While it's not a major deal breaker, I don't particularly want meat touching my vegetarian meal. And after all the waiting, my nachos were room temperature! I don't understand the hype about this place. Given it a few tries and each time came out disappointed and felt a lot of the reviews here were misleading. Small interior so not a lot of seating, mostly bench style, so guessing take-out is their main business. Food does look to come out quickly so that further supports getting it to-go is the way to do it. I've tried a few of their tacos including the brussel sprouts as well as their burritos. To me I think vegetables (or at least peppers, cilantro, onions, pico de gallo) should always be included and it shocks me that isn't the case here without paying quite a bit extra. I really wanted to like it but the food was bland, average to poor quality, and was filled with way too much rice. If I'm being honest, I'd just go to Chipotle if you are craving Mexican. And I highly recommend the side of Brussel sprouts - they are roasted perfectly and have a sweetness to them with whatever sauce/seasoning they are cooked in. Love them and the carne asada tacos are superb. The tacos comes with two soft corn tortillas, the protein, cilantro, onions, crema, and radishes. And lime wedges! The other food items are just bland, no flavor or seasoning, except the brussel sprouts. And they're too stingy w/the amount - it takes quite a few bites to get to the yummyness in the burrito. The rice, beans, crema, pico de gallo - ALL fall flat. It was to the point I'd rather just open the burrito and eat the brussel sprouts by themselves (w/the amazing chipotle sauce drizzled on them). I had a chorizo taco, pollo asado taco, golden avocado taco and street corn. The street corn was free with Yelp check-in! Chorizo taco- spicy chorizo topped with salsa verde Pollo asado taco- citrus marinated taco topped with habanero salsa (I added guacamole) Golden avocado taco- fried avocado topped with chipotle aioli. Street corn-roasted street corn topped with chipotle aioli and topped with cilantro and cotija cheese All tacos were had cilantro, cotija cheese, creama, onions, radish and onions. I thought the onions were a bit overwhelming as there was too much to my liking. The chorizo taco was spicy! But I like spice. The pollo asado taco had great flavor and I got a generous amount of guacamole on top. The avocado taco was good, but I feel there should have been more than one slice avocado in the taco. Street corn was just okay. Not what I'm used to when I order street corn. It wasn't bad..but I didn't like it that much. I got the order to go. It was nice to see that the avocado taco was packed separate than the tacos with meat. Safe to say this place is vegetarian friendly based on that alone. Overall I did enjoy my meal. My boyfriend got the steak tacos. We both agreed that the chicken tacos were out of this world. If it's your first time going there - I highly recommend that's the first thing you try. We also got guacamole and chips and free street corn after checking in on Yelp. Both of which were AMAZING. The guacamole was so fresh and had so many differently flavors going on. We usually get takeout bowls at work for lunch so this was my first time coming in person. I ordered a quesadilla suiza with a side of chips and guac. This is a pay at the counter type place. The interior is clean and basic with picnic bench style seating. While waiting for my food I noticed a large number of pickups (personal or delivery-app style). Food came out hot and was delicious. I didn't know what a suiza was before this and it's not a traditional quesadilla but more like a panini pressed burrito filled with meat and cheese. I opted for no crema and al pastor for my meat. The meat was juicy and flavorful and even had small chunks of pineapple in it. They also put the guac right in there. Proportions very everything were perfect and the cheesy was melty and delicious. Chips weren't too oily and didn't break apart easily, just how I like them. Guac seemed very fresh and homemade and had small chunks of avo in it, again just how I like it. If I had to change anything, it would be to have the guac not inside the quesadilla but on the side so I could taste it separately and I would probably opt out of the pineapple chunks since, although they were delicious, they overpowered a few of the bites they were in and I would have preferred my palate focus more on the meat and cheese. I didn't realize I had a gift card for a fee lunch here and stopped by for some tacos. I may have been a little intimidated by their large selection at the time and quickly decided on the pork tacos. When I was asked if I wanted sour cream and cheese I was even more taken back. I said yes but then figured they were going to be American style tacos. I was wrong and the tacos were authentic and delicious. The sour cream and cheese worked. The pineapple goes with the meat nicely. I forgot to ask for hot sauce, but that's my own fault. I went back a second time just to be sure I was giving them an accurate review. This time I got the pulled chicken tacos. Yeah, I like tacos. I forgot to ask for hot sauce again. Both times, it was noticeable how friendly the staff was. The food was ready quickly and the prices are reasonable. I was very impressed with the cardboard to-go container and how they didn't give me a bunch of plastic with my order. I got a soda and didn't have my own bottle opener so i couldn't drink my soda in the car, but that was my own fault too. I had been to the Tacoria in New Brunswick a few summers ago but didn't know there was one in Morristown. Was in town visiting some friends and wanted to grab a quick and cheap meal. They have lots of indoor seating, and two 4-person tables outside. We grabbed a 4-person table and sat outside in the sun. We ordered inside and the food was ready in 5-10 min. I never tried the nachos at the New Brunswick location, so I split the full nachos (chorizo, $13) with my bf. It was a LOT of food. The nachos came with sour cream, pickled jalapeños, black beans, salsa verde, and cheese. The chorizo was honestly pretty meh - the flavor was just ok and I thought it was pretty salty. Overall for $13 for two people, not a bad deal. I also tried the fried avocado side - it was nice and crispy, but my friends were not huge fans of warm avocado. My go to order at the New Brunswick location was the al pastor tacos or the mission-style burrito - I would recommend going for the tacos or burrito over the nachos. I like many things about Tacoria, but I mainly enjoy that they are fast, fresh, and accessible. I think these are the biggest selling points of why I would choose Tacoria over a sit-down Mexican restaurant or Chipotle/Qdoba. Tacoria has a variety of meat and veg options. In terms of tacos, I can only vouch for the Pollo Asado tacos being great as I have yet to try their other meats. My friends and family have enjoyed Carne Asada, Rajas, and Brussels Sprouts tacos, with my vegetarian friends commenting on the Brussels Sprouts being a unique twist on traditional vegetarian/vegan options. I choose to add guacamole and pico to my tacos and both of these toppings appear and taste very fresh! Service is fairly quick, but if you're in a hurry you might want to consider ordering ahead. I think my favorite part about Tacoria is their "Salsa Bar" where they have an abundance of sauces ranging from mild to extra hot, as well as small containers so you can take sauce to-go. They also make some awesome Horchata. If you're looking for a fast-casual lunch option, definitely give Tacoria a go. Super good food. Surprisingly, I've only been to Tacoria once before in Montclair. I remember thinking it wasn't that good. Something made me stop in today and I don't regret it. I got a salad with the pollo tinga. It was yummy. I also had chips and guacamole with a mango Jarritos soda.
