When my mother got her food she was amazed by how good the food looked but then when she took the first bite, she found a hair in her tacos, she went and asked for a replace, when the food comes and takes another bite she found another longer hair in the food, she got so upset she sat down and didn't eat for the rest of the night, although on my side the food was good, i feel like service could have been better knowing that the owner tried blaming my mother on putting hair in her food. The steak came in an order of 4 tacos for $11.50 and the pulled pork came in an order of 5 for $11.50. Coming out of the kitchen are just the flour tortillas with the meats on them. They have a toppings bar for you to add as many toppings and sauces you'd like. We enjoyed our tacos, although my husband felt it was a bit too oily. We also ordered mango milkshakes. They were nothing special. Better to stick with the Jarritos sodas next time. When the check came, they had 2 different totals listed: cash or credit. Tried out this place as I was in the area. It's on the corner off a semi busy street with no parking lot but there did appear to ample free street parking when I visited. Atmosphere seemed pretty legit. Most people speaking Spanish, nice setup for salsa, cilantro, onions etc Taco price was very reasonable. And they were huge. I had 5 and was really stuffed. Could've easily done 3 or 4. I'm usually a carne taco guy but decided to try Al pastor based on the yelp reviews and was very pleased as it was extremely flavorful. Beef was also good. I love the chorizo and al pastor tacos. They are SO juicy and flavorful. I really like how you get to choose how much toppings to put on your tacos. I always load up on onions, cilantro and lime juice. I usually get the 5 tacos for $9.50 Also, I like how when you order takeout, they really load you up on everything you could need from the toppings bar, including all the three of the salsas. Staff is friendly. The chairs and tables are a bit awkwardly configured though. The leg of the table is so huge, it kind of gets in the way of sitting, so you have to sit weirdly. I went here on a Sunday at around 7 pm with a local Mexican friend who lives in town and eats here regularly. I ordered what my friend ordered the 5 tacos with pork on homemade tortillas which were soft corn tortillas, the plate cost $9.50. The tortillas are about 3 to 4 inches round and the amount of meat portion that they put on each tortilla is on the light side, it's a bit overpriced for 2 tablespoon worth of meat on a tortilla, not good value, for the amount of meat you don't get. Service was fast, basic and the place was clean. They have a side toppings bar where you can add whatever toppings you want to your meal, included were 3 types of sauces (hot, med and mild), 3 different variety of salsa, beans, limes, cilantro and chopped onions. The food overall was fresh, clean tasting with authentic flavors. I also ordered the tamales for $2.50 it was ok when you add items from the toppings bar to it. Absolutely delicious. This has to be the best taqueria I have been to in the NYC metro area (on par with some of the best tacos in Southern California). I got pollo tacos and they were fantastic.The condiments were extremely fresh and the meat was tender and tasty. The lady taking my order was an absolute charm. I would come back for her alone!
