I don't know how I haven't left this review. I mean, we go there fairly often, and I've eaten a ton of their pizza. Pizza is great. I think it's called Roman style? Sort of a light, fluffy dough, but crispy? Not thick like a focaccia or heavy like Sicilian, but also, not unlike those two? It's not New York Style. My sister-in-law loves to get their salad with grilled chicken. They give you a lot of chicken (this is takeout, we do both). It's nicely grilled and seasoned. I got the linguini Alfredo because they have that big wheel of cheese, and I think they make it in the wheel? Again, this was takeout. Not my favorite thing I've ordered there. But again, it's a pizza place, get pizza. The staff is really nice. I mean it's young people (I'm very old), like college age, which in my opinion can be hit or miss. You know they like to make those TikTok dances. That's all they care about. But these kids are uniformly friendly and customer-focused. Nice kids. And the place is cute inside. read more

Walked in to get a slice of cheese and noted slim pickings behind the glass at 1pm- empty trays and only one cheese slice left. I asked if they had more cheese coming out and they showed me the full tray of cheese and said they had some. I asked for a fresh slice but instead they went for the lone dried one under the glass. When I asked if I could get a fresh slice another employee came up to me and said I couldn't and that the batch of pies on the racks behind all came out at the same time a while ago. Huh? I asked again if I could simply get a fresh one from the trays behind him and was told no. Weird flex but okay -wow. I said no thanks and simply went to pay for a water bottle for my son. The manager asked if he was ringing me up for a water and a slice to which I replied "No they refused to serve me a fresh slice"- thinking he would have a focus on customer service and even remedy this. Nope. Just replied with "So just the water then?" Disappointing. There was no line, no rush. Any decent slice shop will proactively tell you to wait a few min for a fresh pie but this place didn't seem to care even when asked. Sadly, I have been here before and enjoyed the slices but we won't be returning any more. Save your money for a place that actually values customers. read more

Best pizza in Summit, hands down. The slices are consistently packed in with flavor atop a buttery, crisp crust -- whether it's the margarita or the veggie. The workers are very courteous and the interior is spacious enough for a strip spot. If you ask, they cut the slices extra small for little hands -- a few pies filled my daughter and her friends with "mmm" and light to fill up on some yummy pizza and get back to playing. read more

I needed to make an emergency trip to Summit, NJ and I stopped at SQR Artisan Pizza to grab a slice before making my three hour pilgrimage back to Pennsylvania. After taking a look at the various pizzas they had in their display case, I began to salivate while hoping the pizza tasted as good as it looked. At first I thought the cost for one slice was a little steep but the did look artisanal and were above average in size. I chose the Salsiccia slice and sat. Shortly after, my slice was served and was cut into two portions. It was love at first bite. The crust had the perfect amount of crunch and stability and the flavors of the toppings married well together. Definitely a great slice and I felt the price was absolutely justified. It's too bad this place is three hours from where I live otherwise I would be back often. On the day I went, it was nice out. The storefront doors were ajar, joining the dining room with outdoor patio seating. The place was clean and quiet. Service was quick and friendly. Perhaps it is a pet peeve, but I am always irked when the price charged is higher than the price listed. In this case it was for a salad and when I pointed it out, it was mentioned that new menus should be coming soon. That means they are aware of the problem, but don't bring it to your attention. Unfortunately, even though I overpaid for it, the salad was sadly unedible. It may better to call it a soup due to the amount of salad dressing covering the spinach. My pizza slice was reminiscent of a good quality, frozen pizza however, nowhere near what I think of when I think of Jersey pizza. On the other hand, my wife thought the pizza was good. read more

Oh LAWD, this pizza is good. I love that they let you do half & half on a large pie, and I REALLY love that it was only $20! That's the cheapest price I've seen for this style pie, and certainly not what I was expecting in a pricier town like Summit. We got half cheese, half margherita. I preferred the margherita because I love that mozzarella-y taste, but the plain was great too. The sauce wasn't my favorite, it probably could have had a liiiittle more flavor, but the dough was SO flavorful, and surprisingly light! Bottom was crispy. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Lastly, all of the staff -- the person that took our order, the person making pizzas behind the counter, the person that brought our food out -- all different people and all incredibly friendly. I was here about a year ago and the owner suggested I try the pasta the next time I come in. I ordered the linguine Alfredo. It came out piping hot that I almost burned my mouth. The linguine was al dente. The portion was too small. I was hungry afterwards. It was $17.95, so there should've been bread, salad or something in addition to the pasta. After I was done, I had to get a slice of pizza to fill me up. The service was good and they brought it to my table. The ambiance was clean and kind of a rustic look. The pizza slices were warmed in an oven and cost $4 each. We got the pepperoni which was good. The slices are thick rectangles, very doughy and crispy bottom/sides. The cheese was perfectly melty! They have many topping containers so you don't have to go asking those at tables for theirs. We asked for two slices and was given one slice cut in two. We were still hungry after unknowingly sharing one slice, so we asked for two more slices at which point we were actually given two slices. Now we had too much food and had to ask for to go boxes. Can't stop coming here. We are regulars for salad and pizza. The tomato pie is my new favorite. This is much better than the regular, try it, you'll love it! My husband likes the buffalo chicken pizza; it has hot cherry peppers. I recently tried a slice of the pesto pie and unfortunately was not a fan at all. Their gimmick is that they only make grandma slices (haha get it Square... SQR) which some people call Roman slices (hahahaha get it, SQPR... SQR). It's $15 for two slices and a drink and sure the slices are a decent size, but that is Manhattan tourist trap prices. However, this could all be put to rest if they just make good pizza... and it's slightly lackluster. It just tasted off, the sauce was a bit sour, the cheese rubbery. I wanted to like it but the the vodka slice was so flavorless and greasy. I tasted zero vodka sauce. Very little cheese that created so much grease it got all over my car and paperwork. Basically bread, I think there was some cheese and grease. That was the slice and it cost over $6 for 1 slice. Love the name, love the idea but the execution was terrible. Not to mention parking is summit is almost impossible. No spots near by. If you find one they no longer offer free 15 minutes. They make you pay for 15 mins and the most you can park is 30 mins at a time before you need to add more money to the meter. So ridiculous. So many other places in Union county for great pizza, easy parking and not overpriced. I'm giving it 2 stars because I want to see it do well and I love the name and logo! read more

SQR Pizza is not your run-of-the-mill trattoria. I have been several times and am always impressed by the freshness and quality of the ingredients, as well as their unique selection of slices. You can't go wrong with a classic Margarita slice, but if you're a foodie, give the Fungi Pie a try. The owner is also very generous, attentive and has allowed for my friends and I to stay past closing when we were grabbing a late-night meal.
