Damn you, Yelp. We made the trek to Summit to hit Pizza Vita (ranked #18 of 25 in the 'Pizza Power Ratings') and you misled us to believe they were open since noon. Nope - 4:30pm. But we're in the area and hungry (and tired, and hungover... your typical Sunday, really) and down on the same block is Zappia. Older and more beat-up than Pizza Vita but the pie comes out pretty quick so the family is happy. Crust - decent. Sauce - a nice little tang but a little watery. Their own slogan "Life is Too Short For Bad Pizza" and while it was an average/okay pizza - "The Pizza Project 2015" doesn't want to end its season at this stop and we're hoping to squeeze in somewhere else before we're officially done. read more

Ever since Zappia's Brick Oven moved to a different location, everything went down hill, especially with their online ordering and delivery. With the change in location, came a change to their menu and offerings. They now have a Cucina option, rather than just pizza and side dishes. I've ordered online and delivery four times now, and each time I've been severely disappointed. It's either been very late, the order was wrong or they were missing something and never called until it was already time for them to deliver it, so you had to wait longer. Tonight, November 7th, 2019, I tried it once more. I never even received my order. By the time I tried calling about it, they were already closed. No one ever called me to tell me that the order may not be ready in time to be delivered. The only reason at this point why I am giving 2 stars is due to the food actually being good. If the business owner is reading this, please fix your delivery system and if something is not able to be done in time, communicate with your customers. $41 wasted tonight. read more

They have a good variety of slices to choose from and they have a special any two slices and a soda for $6.50 and the pizza is really good too. Just ordered a pizza from Zappia's Pizza in Summit which is now located on Beechwood Road in Summit. I ordered a thin crust pizza with oregano. What I got was a severely burned pizza, thick crust, without one spec of oregano. I really think who ever answers the phone needs to be replaced by someone who at least makes sure the order is correct. So disappointed! I stopped in for lunch on a weekday and I was very pleasantly surprised! To start, the girls in the front were super sweet and accommodating. I was dining with my 1-year-old and they offered to bring over a high chair, slice the pizza into little squares for him, and they had no problem with me going to Dunkin Donuts and bringing back milk for him to drink since they didn't have any milk to offer us. Service, check!! Onto the food! They had a couple of specialty pizzas out that looked so good - I wanted to try them all but I controlled myself for once in my life. I tried the bruschetta pizza which was a whole wheat crust with bruschetta on top. There was no cheese that I could see, though there might have been a bit of Parmesan in the bruschetta itself. It was REALLY. GOOD. Everything in the bruschetta tasted SO fresh, from the tomatoes down to the herbs. I could've eaten an entire pie of it. My 1-year-old happily downed his entire slice (not normal, but there's nothing normal about the way his mother eats either), and I got a plain slice to try as well. I wasn't as impressed by the plain slice as I was with the bruschetta. It had great flavor but it was a little soggy - I think it could've used more time in the oven, or maybe it was actually a little too fresh. I think everyone can agree pizza is better reheated! I will definitely give Zappia's another try, maybe for delivery, and definitely if I am ever in town and crave a slice of pizza again! Definitely up to try many of their specialty slices! read more

I frequent this place way too often. Try any of the chick slices or calamari. Zappia's has a solid slice that's just as good if not better to New York pizza. I'm never disappointed with the selection and variety. Crust I think is what makes it for me, not too thin not to thick just right. read more

Definitely try the Buffalo chicken pizza. Had the bacon chicken ranch too and it was so fatty which was so tasty! The both together are a heart attack so try one or the other. Maybe not both in one sitting like I did. The plain was just that. Nothing to write home about. However, I do love the thin crust!! They need to heat the slices up a bit more. I always wonder how they come out so quickly and its because they hardly fire them up. Also, one time they had a whole pie of buff chick and then the last time we visited, my husband and I were fighting over the only 3 pieces of buffalo. Lame. DONT TRUST THE SERVICE!!! Got a to go salad with grilled chicken. At first, the staff on front desk was distracted and careless. Then a simple salad took longer than it should. I emphasize make sure you check you order before you leave. I was disappointed to get home and see just lettuce tomato and cheese on my salad ; " where is my chicken ??!" I guess it flew away.. My sister lives in Summit and while we were over at her place, she suggested we order pizzas from here. I have not been inside but I'm pretty sure it's right across from the train station in Summit. A plus is that they deliver. I called and placed an order for 4 large pies: 1. Zappia's Famous - Breaded Eggplant, mozzarella, ricotta and red sauce. I thought this pizza was pretty good. I'm not the biggest eggplant fan but thought it was OK. It was a little on the dry side. 2. BBQ Chicken - I was not in favor of ordering this pizza as I'm typically not a fan of this pizza combo but I have to admit I liked it. The BBQ sauce gave a nice kick to the pizza and the cheddar cheese complemented it well. 3. Supreme - this was my choice. I'm a fan of supreme pizzas as you get a little bit of everything. This was a good pizza as it had just the right amount of toppings on it and they didn't really skimp on anything. 4. Plain - didn't try it but it looked to be good. I'd easily order pizzas from here again. I'm actually glad I sampled some pizzas I typically would not have ordered. Delivery took about 45-50 minutes but I don't think that is too bad for 4 pizzas when they are made fresh. We were hungry and went for the first pizza place we saw - big mistake choosing this place - we ordered a simple salad and sandwich and sat for over half an hour while we waited for them to figure out how to make it. Worse yet we watched as other people walked in, ordered more complicated meals, ate, and left while we were sitting there. What did we do to deserve such treatment? - on the SECOND time we asked about our order they found that our food was packaged to go and sitting on a side table thus resulting in our food being cold. Just tried Zappia's recently and wasn't that impressed at all. The one thing it has going for it is the Buffalo Chicken Pizza - it's delicious. I also had a Sicilian slice, which had no sauce and was pretty tasteless. They deliver, which is a nice plus, and it's at no cost. I'm from NYC and been here twice. Both times the pizza I had were AMAZING! And the price was unbeatable!!! The ingredients were fresh and very generous with the toppings. A slice I would normally pay around $5 for was only $2.60! The staff was extremely courteous and friendly. So they make homemade focaccia bread and it's out of this world. I had a thin and crispy focaccia sandwich with marinated portobello mushroom, fresh mozzarella and arugala. The nice man that makes the pizza said that they make a chicken focaccia sandwich also but it was sold out. I'm glad I was able to get the last portobello sandwich.
