Needed a place to eat close to Woodland Ave and found this place. As soon as I walked in I noticed the A/C wasn't on or working but put that in my back pocket for now. They had several different pizzas out to choose from. I asked the guy behind the counter what one was and he couldn't tell me. Strike 2. So I ended up getting a baked ziti and plain slice. The baked ziti one seemed to have all the ziti near the crust like someone picked it up and it moved there. The taste was good but not great. The plain slice was also just ok.These two Slices were not spectacular. The ambiance was clean almost new or remodeled looking, except the ceiling tiles and vents should've been cleaned or replaced. I will not be back. It was too hot in there and the pizza wasn't so good that I would rave about it. read more

Great, no frills, family-owned Italian restaurant (that I've been going to since high school). Food is reliably good, with a good amount of classic options. Staff are friendly and you can count on delivery getting there when they say it will. They've been in Summit as long as I can remember and I'm hoping they'll be there in another 30 years. read more

Came to Doria for a quick and easy plain slice. Unfortunately my experience was just so-so. Usually when I grab a plain slice I know I can be in and out in ten minutes. When it seemed like my slice was in the oven for nearly ten minutes I started to worry. I like my pizza hot but not super cooked and crunchy. When I finally got the slice it was piping hot. I needed to wait an extra five minutes to even pick it up... it was steaming. The slice was also extremely overcooked on the bottom (burnt and hard) and overly greasy. So I've been a big supporter of this place for quite some time but I can't help notice things that have changed in thr last few months. Pizza in the case? Old. Dry. Stale. Pizza by the slice? Four dollars for a single one topping g slice taken from that old dry stale case. The crust snaps like a cracker: and this is not a super thin crust or anything. The give-a-shit-ometer seems to be stuck on zero for everyone that works here now. Regretfully won't be back. Too many other options in town to eat crap overpriced pizza. P.s. This is embarrassing..... something schemey happened here, they didn't feel like making a new pie so they just threw onions on top of a made one, and they gave me a large when I ordered a medium thinking I would know they were slick. Thank you Doria for being in the right place at the right time. After a field hockey game my daughter was HANGRY and needed some food. We didn't stay long as we got slices to go, but they were good Jersey slices of pizza. I kept mine simple - plain and sausage, and my daughter went with a plain and a ziti/noodle slice. As you know, I fully admit to being a pizza snob and I get wound up if a slice is even just mediocre because this is Jersey and you have no business BEING in the pizza business if you can't make good pizza. The competition is too tough to make something less than great. Well, at least based on the four slices my daughter and I had, Doria's should find continued success as they make excellent pizza. The sauce was great - not too sweet, but very tasty. I like my pizza a little bit well done as it gives the cheese a better flavor and these slices were done just that way. The sausage on my slice was ok, not great, but ok. My daughter probably didn't taste hers as she was ravenous, but she SAID it was delicious...her go-to slice is the ziti slice and she wolfed it down like it was a slice of heaven. I had a nice afternoon walking around Summit, and this place, on charming Springfield Ave had incredibly decent pizza. The mediterranean-blue and white decor worried me, screaming, "Greece! Greece!" (Regrettably, I've never been to a good Greek pizzeria, that's why I was worried), but the rather cheap cheese slice, and fresh tomato, mozzarella, and basil slice were both pretty good, with thin-ish crust, and a sauce and cheese texture reminiscent of a slice from Brooklyn, in taste but not necessarily in appearance. Grabbed a slice here in a rush while house hunting in Summit. My husband got 2 Sicilian slices while I had a slice of the thin Grandma's. Mine was tasting. The sauce had a bit of a sweet, but sour taste, pretty unique. I liked that it was thin. There was grease pooling at the crust which wasn't so appealing, but I did get a corner piece so what can you expect? Overall, wish I could try a plain slice next time to really give this place a fair review. Wish my slice had more sauce at the edges by the crust, but then again, it was a corner slice. read more

This was easily the best pizza we've had in years. I had the Grandma slice, hubby had a standard cheese. It was anything but standard. The crust is special. Chewy but not jaw-straining. Crisp on the outside, hot warm goodness on the inside. Thin, but not even close to the cardboard crust you get at most pizza places if you ask for thin. I just moved to Summit from Morristown, where I grew up on Suvio's slices - a place I would brag to my friends had better-than-NY pizza. It turns out that the people there are cousins with the people at Suvio's - and the pizza I had was amazing! Delicious cheese, a smooth, understated sauce on a crispy-yet-fluffy, light bread. Definitely it's own pizza, but definitely the quality I hoped for. I don't know how it is during dinner-rush or lunch-rush, but I found the people really chill and friendly. This used to be a great place to get slices for the kids after a stroll downtown. Now, with new ownership or something, everyone there is so darn rude. The pizza is not that great to put up with workers who are going to be rude to little kids. This is Summit. We're all here to raise our kids in a happy environment. After a couple years of only going to Doria's, we will never go again (after that last rude encounter). And I don't think we're alone. Once a super busy place, it's always empty when we walk by. Doria is a good spot for a slice. They have a great Sicilian slice -- nice and thick, plenty of cheese. Again, as with most 3s I give, it doesn't do anything to separate itself. It's the only legit pizza spot in Summit, and I'd definitely come back whenever I'm craving a slice downtown. read more
