Service was great and the dining room is casual plus family friendly. I ordered the Pappardelle Pasta with Broccoli Rabe, Sausage and Mushrooms. The dish looked good but I didn't taste any garlic or olive oil. Sauce was very bland and the Broccoli Rabe was also bland. I'm a garlic lover so this was a big miss for me. My husband enjoyed his Shrimp Fra Diablo so I guess I just made a bad choice in ordering. The small Caesar Salad was fine and enough for the two of us to share. Also our server gave us a complimentary Tiramisu which was a really nice surprise and very yummy. I'll have to try some other dish next time. Took my parents here for their 65 wedding anniversary. Service was terrible - we were rushed from the time we entered until we left. Appetizers were small and we order three which were not enough for five people. We never got a salad - food portions were small and came out cold. Waiter never came to our table till he asked us if we wanted dessert. We were like anchovies in a can eating with other tables on top of us. A very noisy place as well. 9/17/25 - I was out today on business and when it was time for lunch, I came across a place called La Strada in Millburn, NJ. La Strada is an Italian restaurant and pizzeria combined. There is full service table seating in the back and a few table seats in the front room for slice eaters like me. Overall, the place feels kind of high end. The cooks I overheard were speaking Italian to each other. The guy who took my order was like me which means he had no idea what they were saying either. This was one of those times when I wish I had my dad with me (RIP). Although he didnt speak Italian, he could pick up words and tell me what the conversation was about. I asked for one plain slice and one Margherita slice which my new counter friend brought to my table piping hot. The plain slice had a wonderful, tangy sauce and a high end premium premium mozzarella cheese. The under crust like the outer crust was crunchy and delicious. The overall flavor had a touch of char taste which was a bit surprising considering I didn't see any char whatsoever anywhere on the slice. But no complaints as flavor is flavor and this one works. The only knock here is the slice is limp. No toppings slide off when you pick it up, but you have to fold it to make it stand up. And when you fold it, theres a slight grease drip. The Margherita slice stands up a bit better than its plain cousin slice. The sauce is tangy and layered thick. And it has the most wonderful basil flavor. They use fresh mozzarella on this one and there are pieces of basil in every bite. They also drizzle olive oil on top but there is no grease drip. The crust like the plain slice is crunchy and delicious. Overall Rating: A- read more

My brother moved to town and my wife remember this place she used to get pizza when she was in high school. The staff is very nice. I asked for a custom pepperoni and pineapple slice for my toddler (Yes that's what he likes). I asked for her recommendation for 4 adults and she said large pie and we got the bacon chicken ranch pizza. My toddler almost at the whole slice and it's humongous. What a gem of a find! We sat in the outdoor patio which is lovely. The owner took our order and helped with suggestions. My friend and I shared the special mango salad with goat cheese which was so delicious. We also went outside of our comfort zone and shared a pizza with calamari, fresh tomato, garlic and cheese. first I get to the restaurant and we got seated quickly. the waiter comes to us and doesn't even tell us his name, doesn't tell us any specials but I asked what was popular in the menu. He said chicken franchese. He seemed like he was in a rush and there were maybe 5 tables. After 20 minutes of waiting for him to take our order, we start with muscles. It was okay. (4/10) as our entrees, we ordered chicken parm (5/10) tortellini Ai fungi (7/10) manicotti (2/10). We didn't bother with desert. He never asked how our food was. Never returned to the table to even ask how the food was. we asked for lemon at the beginning of sitting, he brought it after 30 minutes. NOTE: BYOB. La Strada is pretty much an institution in the Union/Essex County area of Central/Northern N.J. It's honestly been well over a decade since I've been to the brick-and-mortar, but they also have a pretty prolific catering operation, and my best friend's dad often supplements le nonnes' cookings at Christmas, Easter, and birthdays with La Strada's pizzas and paninis. Always a hit. A return to the restaurant-proper for my Mom's bday lunch, in similar fashion, was also a hit. The service was prompt and friendly from the get-go, which came in handy with two little nieces in tow. In addition to the complimentary table bread (awesome...that focaccia is sooo good!), we ordered: Apps: Mussels Possillipo - sauteed in garlic, basil, tomatoes, white wine, and cayenne. Wow, what a portion! And that sauce...I immediately began rationing bread to make sure I could sop up the leftover juice after we (eventually...yuuuge portion) finished the actual [delicious] mussels. Pizza alla Verdure Mista - Grilled eggplant, grilled zucchini, mushroom, marinara (sans cheese). For the amount of loaded veggie toppings on this pie, I was definitely prepared for some sogginess, but boy was I gleefully surprised when there was no flop, and crispy crust goodness! Didn't miss the cheese on this either, essentially with all the simultaneous feasting going on - a great pie! Entrees: I got a salad special - grilled chicken with copious amounts of avocado (like...an entire one), arugula, plum tomatoes, fresh mozzarella with balsamic (and I added goat cheese...because it's friggin delicous). A yuuuge portion, this definitely left me satisfied with leftovers in tow! (my dad copied my order...) My brother got another salad on special, with shrimp, pears, and goat cheese with a honey balsamic dressing (this is how I knew they had the glorious goat cheese). He seemed to enjoy it quite a bit. My mom, the birthday girl, ordered the chicken marsala - Sauteed with mixed mushrooms in a Marsala wine demi-glace. I managed to sneak a couple mushrooms, and they were spot on! Mom was very pleased. My sister-in-law ordered a chicken parm sandwich to share with some of the little ones, and it was pretty much instantaneously devoured! (I've had it previous when it was among the catered goodies and can vouch for the deliciousness. We finished up a lovely lunch with a round of espressos, getting ready to brave the Turtle Back Zoo with the kiddos, but our outing La Strada definitely had us embarking for adventure on a very high note. Fabulous dinner thanks to our server and new friend, Francesco! My father and I came for an early dinner around 5:30pm tonight and LaStrada did not disappoint! We were seated immediately and given drinks and fresh bread. Francesco made sure we were taken care of! To start, we had a delicious salad with artichokes, kalamata olives, roasted red pepper, and fresh mozzarella with a light dressing. We also had calamari which was the best I've ever had, alongside a plate of fresh mozzarella and prosciutto. For our entrees, I had rigatoni palermo and my dad had fettucine alfredo. Some of the best pasta dishes in town. We were also given a side of steamed broccoli with olive oil and garlic. Everything was amazing. My favorite part was dessert! We shared a decadent chocolate cake and a scrumptious tiramisu. The restaurant was incredibly busy with a large party in the back and most of the tables were full. I greatly appreciate the attention and service that Francesco provided us. He was not only accommodating but he went above and beyond to make sure that our experience was to the next level. He chatted with us and we got to know him a little bit tonight. He is a very kind man. If you're lucky enough to have him serve you, considered yourself blessed! Mixed bag. The pizza is good, and the Sicilian and grandma's style square pies are excellent. I would stay away from the pasta dishes, which tend to be over-cooked, a bit watery and bland. Tried the chicken cacciatore recently. Sliced breast does not cut it for a real cacciatore, and the flavorless mashed potatoes and julienne sliced carrots do not complement the dish. On the plus side (with the pizza) is a very friendly and competent wait staff and very good salads. read more

Slow service and indifferent food. We've been regulars for 20+ yrs. The restaurant was recently sold and has unfortunately never been the same. Service is way too slow and surly. It took is 10 minutes to get wineglasses. Food quality has declined. Our usual dishes tasted awful. My wife and I will not return. It's a pity because this was a neighborhood favorite but no more. Since they re-opened after the fire, they have been super busy. They were missed and their food didn't miss a beat. The food is as good as it was before. I ordered a slice of rigatoni pizza and it was phenomenal. On a second trip I ordered a slice of spinach, potato, tomatoes and garlic. The garlic was not overpowering and the slice was excellent. Thank God I found La Strada in Millburn, NJ! It was an excellent experience. I tried many places to host for my daughter's very recent bridal shower lunch and there was always an issue until I found La Strada. The shower was held in the semi private area in the back of the restaurant. Kamelo was good and easy to work with along with being pleasant, helpful, accomodating, flexible and professional. The food was great, the service was excellent, the place was very clean all at a reasonable price. It's a BYOB restaurant and I brought drinks for the guests.
