Hit or miss. Only in NJ, will you occasionally receive rancid smelling fish. I shouldn't have to ask to send it back. I shouldn't have to receive smelly fish. Only in NJ... When they receive fresh produce, it's a really decent restaurant. The last time I went, I got rancid smelling fish. Wh

Had an amazing meal here. The food was all very fresh and flavorful! I loved the Frutti di Mare pasta and the Ossobucco. Both dishes came with fresh pasta! Make sure to save room for dessert here because Donna the pastry chef has these desserts PERFECTED! The Napoleon was to die for and the tiramisu was also delicious! The Chocolate Soufflé was also very tasty and light! If you're in the Milburn area, Basilico is the place to be for dinner!!

We had a great time here for dinner. Beautiful, local restaurant with street parking or small lot attached. They are BYOB, but also have so.e wines available for purchase. Great news...if you want one of their pastas, they are flexible and you can order an appetizer portion. They even split our cacio e pepe in the kitchen! Delicious. The lasagna and salmon were also very delicious. Overall, a nice evening with amazing service and reasonably priced. So glad that they survived the flood from last year. We'll be back.

Short ribs lack sauce

The food was average and the service was minimal. In fact the person who delivered the food almost threw the food on the table. It was very unprofessional, no proper utensils and had to flag the waiter down to get utensils and only brought a fork and no knife and appeared annoyed when asked for a knife. It was 4 of us having dinner before going to the playhouse. The food was mediocre as best. We all had different dishes and none were great. I do not recommend this place either so many places in Millburn to eat. No reason to eat here.

Totally bummed. I love Basilico so I order two pieces of tiramisu to-go. I got home and found that only one piece was in the bag.

I don't know why we haven't frequented this spot sooner (at least during trips back home), but EVOO is legit. Also NOTE - its BYOB (but there are even some places nearish by you can grab a bottle or 3 if needed). Our server was very attentive, despite the restaurant being fairly busy. For apps, we decided on the: Hummus - how do you properly judge a Mediterranean restaurant without trying their hummus, and this was creamy, decadent and served with some fresh pita. Grilled Calamari (with roasted red pepper, lemon, evoo, capers, red onions) - very nicely cooked, not rubbery at all Grilled Octopus (with roasted red peppers, fava puree, capers, onions, red wine vinegar, arugula, evoo) - if octopus is on the menu, I'm gonna have it. For my entree, I got the pan-seared scallops with cauliflower puree, quinoa, spinach, heirloom tomato. Loved it. Cooked perfectly, loooved the silky puree...just a solid solid dish. All in all, EVOO definitely deserves to be on the Millburn/Essex shortlist when looking for nicer places to dine out. Can't wait to get back and try some more of their menu!

I went with a group of 3 and all ordered ramen and the karaage appetizer, but the karaage was just slightly crispy and barely had any flavor, the sauce really saved that dish but definitely would pass on that dish. All 3 ramens were average. The pork cha shu was tender though which was the highlight, but overall broth was pretty standard. Particularly my miso ramen didn't have that much flavor. Service and staff was a bit slow, but food came out pretty fast. Overall not bad, but will probably give this place another go sometime and try some of the other dishes.

I ordered a black garlic ramen and a kids meal (katsu) for my son, they came pretty quickly and they look delicious!! My son's katsu is super hot and crunchy (he said he doesn't want to eat it prior the food come, and ate 1/2 of the chicken!!) that means did you great!!! Rice was a little hard to be honest and corn was ok.. I kinda put them in my ramen.. the black ramen was good.. lots of spinach and thick piece of pork (chasiu).. soup was thick but not too thick!! Noodle was cool perfectly.. only thing is I have to pay to get the egg, but it was cook perfectly!! My son agree since he ate the entire egg.. would definitely come back again.. I wonder if it would get super busy at lunch time since they don't have too many tables (10 maybe), they might be a line out the door.. but 11:30 was a great time!! And parking is just across the street!!

Terrible experience overall. We had long ticket times…read moredespite being the only customers in the restaurant during lunch. We ordered the duck bao buns, which were very bland, served without any sauce, and one even had a bone in it. We also ordered the pork belly ramen and seafood ramen, seafood ramen priced at $28 . Unfortunately, these were served in a way that felt unsanitary, with the waitress's thumb touching the plates and inside the bowls. It was very strange and honestly pretty gross. The seafood ramen included crab legs, but we were never offered a crab cracker, and the scallops were overcooked. The broth was decent, but nothing mind-blowing or worth the price. The seating was also uncomfortable. They use high armchairs that felt awkward and impractical. On top of everything, I couldn't get a receipt because they had run out of paper, and I later realized I was double charged for the meal. The one positive is that our waitress was very nice and polite, but unfortunately that wasn't enough to make up for the overall experience. We won't be coming back.

This is a nice quiet spot, nice atmosphere, great service from the waitress. I started off with the chicken dumplings, probably the lowest rating food I had. I'll give it about a three and a half, that's because it was a little too wet. The chicken was solely in the middle, so there's a lot of dumpling, not a lot of chicken, i did enjoy the peanut sauce. Then I had some sambal sauce, vegetables, chicken and white rice on the side. Now that was really, really good. Nice and spicy, a great mix of vegetables, very fresh, very filling, super surprised by that. This establishment honestly deserves to be a lot more crowded than it actually was. It was very empty in there, I was the only table in there. But overall, just great service. In addition to that, I was also able to spin a wheel for spending over 60 bucks and got myself a free drink the next time. Highly recommended, pop out if you're in the area. Great overall. .5
