    Chicken Katsu Bowl

Pleasant surprise, we were walking around the downtown and stumbled across this place. It is relatively new and right on the Main Street of Millburn downtown. We ordered the vegetarian Ramen ( asked for extra spicy) and chicken katsu bowl with more sauce. Both the dishes were delicious and exactly what we wanted. Good flavors overall. Service was good, friendly staff and seems family run. Overall good experience.

Good food. I ordered takeout from here. I found this place in Yelp. Got Omurice, which I have been looking for a place that makes it. I also got gyoza and volcano noodles with fresh noodles. The price with tip came out around $60. It's a small place but looks spotless and nicely decorated. Parking can be challenging in the area since they do not have parking. The lady who was there spoke little English, but she understood what I was saying. I would recommend this place if you want a decent noodle place to try in the area. It's nice that there are multiple places to get Japanese food in Maplewood and Millburn. Omurice is good. I would go there, especially for that. Noodle and gyoza were average but still decent.

10 out of 10 out of 10!!!! Where should I start upon entering the restaurant the host greeted us. We were able to choose which table we wanted to sit. Our server brought us the menus and even gave us recommendations. It is small cute dining space perfect for date nights, and Solo. They also have outside dining. We opted to stay inside. Now let's get to the food: for appetizer, we had the spring rolls, and the BAO BAO they were very tasty and Packed with flavor. For the entrée, we each had different types of Ramen. They all taste amazing. Fun fact you can request to make your Raman spicy if you prefer the heat. My sister is a vegetarian so she got the vegetarian Ramen and the tofu was yummy! The server came to check in on us to make sure the food was up to our standards. I couldn't leave without trying the desserts, which was the snow ice bowl. It was delicious. I recommend you stopping by and dining in.

    "pork" hot stone bowl

Very pretty restaurant near Papermill Playhouse. Food was OK, service was lacking. Waitress took our order-duck bao buns, pork hot bowl curry, vegetable ramen with no scallions and a shrimp tempura ramen. She came back to check on what we ordered two minutes after she left the table, didn't see her again for 30 minutes. We were the only table seated for a long time. Bao was good. Hubby's pork bowl came made with chicken (not a big deal) and mine came with scallions, even though I'd asked for no onion. They were not generous with the vegetables at all in the vegetable ramen and the broth was a bit bland. The only sauce on the table was hot chili oil-no soy sauce or vinegar like places in the city. Before we were done, hubby asked for some extra curry sauce from the waitress because the dish was a bit dry. She said she guessed they could give him some extra. It never came. Another waitress finally came to check if we were done and pack up the leftovers. I mentioned that hubby had asked for extra sauce. We decided on no dessert so we paid the bill and left. Hubby mentioned that they charged $3.50 for the extra sauce! It would have been nice to have known that. Overall, not impressed and will not be back.

Everything looked so delicious! We wanted to dine in and followed the signs to the seating area which was also bustling. We were seated across from each other at a long communal table, which is fine, but our neighbors seemed offput by having to move their coats and bags off the chairs. We were sitting so tightly together that I could barely shrug my jacket off without elbowing my neighbors. We waited and looked around for about 10 minutes. When no server approached us, we realized we needed to get up and order at the back counter. This was not made clear. Orange Juice for me (fresh squeezed - $12), iced coffee for him, the Spreads and Breads, and the Schnitzel Sandwich. We also split a small cinnamon bun. Our bill was nearly $80. Yowza. I will say that everything we ordered was good. We had things to do so we essentially ate and left. We were in and out in under 45 minutes. This is definitely a locals kind of place. We'll opt to grab-and-go if we are in the area again.

First off: Service. I told the employee that this was my first time there, and they were more-than-happy to help me make a decision for my order. Patient and walked me through. Second: The Food. Let's get into it. 1) Cassava Latte ($7.50) - I was so pleasantly suprised at this drink; described as "(i)nspired by the Filipino dessert cake, made with condensed milk and coconut." The first sip, and I was intrigued! It was perfectly sweet, and the perfect mix of that coconut-dessert taste that cassava typically delivers! It tasted genuine, if that's possible. 2) Sinigang Croquette ($5.00) - This was interesting. Described as "Pork and Gabi (taro) shaped into a patty, rolled in Japanese bread crumbs, and deep fried. Served with our in-house sawsawan (dipping sauce)", it hit all the right notes. To be honest? $5.00 for 1 felt a bit steep. I'd pay $7.50 for two, though! 3) Boy Bawang Shio Pan ($7.50) - This was the most curious of all my purchases. Described as an "(i)n-house salt bread rolled in garlic and corn crumbs, filled with roasted garlic butter, topped with corn cheese whip. Inspired by the popular Filipino snack: Boy Bawang. THIS ITEM I SING ITS PRAISES. I am an absolute lover of the Boy Bawang Garlic Flavor Corn Snack --- much more pungent than anything Corn Nuts could ever offer. This Shio Pan absolutely delivered with its roasted garlic flavor! And as soon as you take a few bites ---- you get hit with that roasted garlic butter --- and let me tell you, they are not shy about their filling! Absolute master class --- but it's only for a limited run. You should definitely try! Third: Ambiance - The Cafe is quaint --- and has a seating area that could maybe fit between 18-24 people? It's just along the side of the business, but I managed to get a table for myself. Ayala, you did not disappoint! Can't wait to try your Sisig Flatbread for the next round!

I had the sisig flatbread and the pork croquette. The sisig flatbread had very unique and complex flavors. I thought it was very creative. The croquette was fresh and tasty, but it was truly the sauce that came with it that was the star of the show. It bold and vinegary and tasted great with the sisig flat bread as well. I tried a bit of my friend's pandan waffle and it was quite tasty! I could really taste the pandan. Now the bad. The ube latte was mediocre. I asked for mine with matcha, but I really couldn't even taste the matcha. I think next time I might try their other drinks to see if there is a difference. However, I was really expecting better. Overall: I'd say the food is better than the drinks, which is a bit of a disappointment because I was hoping for both to be out of this world. The service was good and the staff was very kind. I also enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant as well.

Maybe would've been better with a chipotle mayo or something. The omelette was huge, served with toast and home fries but a little greasy. Not sure it would be the first place in mind to return to but not a terrible option to recommend. They had some patrons there enjoying the cafe vibes, drinking coffee and chatting so that was nice. Not a lot of traffic if you're looking for a quiet spot to meet with a friend or even do some work.
