I was skeptical to come to this restaurant at first due to the low rating it had overall, but believe it or not, I was absolutely surprised by the food quality here and the service. This is a nice quiet spot, nice atmosphere, great service from the waitress. I started off with the chicken dumplings, probably the lowest rating food I had. I'll give it about a three and a half, that's because it was a little too wet. The chicken was solely in the middle, so there's a lot of dumpling, not a lot of chicken, i did enjoy the peanut sauce. Then I had some sambal sauce, vegetables, chicken and white rice on the side. Now that was really, really good. Nice and spicy, a great mix of vegetables, very fresh, very filling, super surprised by that. This establishment honestly deserves to be a lot more crowded than it actually was. It was very empty in there, I was the only table in there. But overall, just great service. Thai House is AMAZING and such a hidden gem in NJ!! I'm a bit of a Thai Curry connoisseur and have tried different curries from dozens and dozens of places and this has continued to be my #1 favorite over years. The vegetables are always fresh, the curries and food are consistently DELISH, the portions are the perfect size, and their brown rice is the best I've ever had -- not the typical flavorless brown long-grain rice, it's dark brown, hearty, and yummy. My favorite dish is their Thai red curry with tofu, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu! My mom Sonia and our family are huge fans and always stop by when we're around. Kevin, the owner, is so friendly and always makes time to greet us and those who pick up food. We will forever and always be back. Highly recommend checking them out. read more

I'm gonna give this place three stars. The food was good, but there's room for improvement. Theres definitely better Thai food around. We ordered the drunken noodles and pad kee ewe. We expected the noodles to have a sauce like Thai noodles usually do so that was a disappointment. The food is good but there is a lack of flavor that should smack you when you eat Thai. However, the prices and portions were more than reasonable. The individual food items in the meal were good and fresh. We did takeout but the service seemed adequate as the food was ready within the 15 minutes it took to get there. It's possible I'd eat here again. read more

This restaurant is located in the middle of downtown Millburn, with no storefront to a street but instead of storefront to a middle alley which makes a little hard to find sometimes. There's also no parking other than the city parking so if you're there when it's busy, it can take a while to find a place just to pick up your food. Right now it's just take out and deliveries using Uber eats or another service, they were flooded and damaged and closed for a while. They have some new furniture I think inside that is all shrink wrapped, so hopefully they'll have dine-in later this year. The lunch special is $10 and comes with either a soup or spring roll, this was a good deal as it was very filling and easily made for two meals if you weren't too hungry. I had the pad see ew with beef, which actually had a nice mix of other vegetables including mushrooms, snap peas, mountain root and bean sprouts, it wasn't exactly the pad see ew I expected from Thai food, it was much closer to a chow fun done Cantonese style. Well I was okay with that and the noodles were good, others thought it was disappointing, although my father-in-law said he really enjoyed it because it didn't have any garlic. Spring roll was on the small side but had plenty of duck sauce to go with it. The Tom yum soup was very oily but tasty, again a lot of vegetables along with strips of chicken. I've had many many dishes here over the years, their green curry is always so good. The vegetables are snappy, not over cooked. Always really fresh. I love the Tom kha, flavorful broth. All of the appetizers- great. Duck salad - always a star. Sometimes they have over cooked the duck in the past (ordered this a million times) so I just ask them not to overlook it and it comes out here. Good desserts too read more

So glad that Thai House has now reopened after Hurricane Ida! We did pickup on their first night back (2/25), and everything was wonderful. We ordered over the phone and they were very accommodating with dietary restrictions and helped us pick vegetarian options that didn't have any fish sauce or meat stock. We ordered a tofu massaman curry and a yellow curry with chicken, as well as spring rolls. Everything was served hot, the take out containers had cute little cutouts to allow for venting, and the food was ready quickly. Always looking to add another option for Thai spots and this one was suggested by my co-worker. Its a solid place. Immediately the chef specialties part of the menu grabbed my attention and lime so often I couldn't decide so with waitress recommendation I went with the "Crispy beef" which was indeed crispy, but not too crispy. It features of course Lightly fried beef, asparagus, jicama, red pepper and Thai sweet spicy sauce. It was prepared well and the blend worked well. For appetizers we got shrimp dumplings and thai chicken dumplings. Both were good, but nothing extraordinary. I like that there is no extra charge on white rice and its BYOB! It felt a bit small compared to other Thai spots and wouldn't suggest more than 4 people, but its intimate and probably perfect for a lunch visit. Definitely would try some more of the chef specialties in a return visit. read more

The restaurant doesn't have seating, so only take out. The pad Thai was the worst I've ever had in my life. It was extremely bland- no sprouts, no lime, and just zero flavor at all. The pad see ewe was delicious and flavorful. The drunken noodles were also great. The yellow noodles were flavorful with lots of curry and turmeric. The clerk was polite and nice. I placed an order for pickup, and came 40 min after ordering. I had to wait 10 min. Overall, I would go back to order all the noodles except for the pad Thai. The lettuce was brown and the salad was drowned in a watery dressing. The shrimp dish had the tails on them and were not deveined making me wonder if they were cleaned at all. The shrimp sat in a sweet and sour sauce along with some hard rice crackers which added nothing to the dish except soggy rice crackers. The chicken dish had more string beans than chicken. It won't be a Thai restaurant on my list and I have been eating Thai food for over 30 years. If the restaurant plans to open up for eat-in, please work on your recipes and ingredients. read more

Food and service is consistently great. As usual when visiting a Thai restaurant, my first meal is chicken pad Thai, and theirs rocks. Other meals of note: udon noodles, massaman curry, and pineapple fried rice. The chicken satay is a must for a starter. Great food and good prices. Location is weird because it's in the middle and no easy parking

The food is good however, the biggest issue with it is the time it takes to get it. We ordered two dishes and one side and came by to pick it up ~20minutes after ordering, at which time they told us it would take another 20 minutes. After waiting again, we asked again about how much longer it would take, to which they responded that they did not know how much longer it would take. Very frustrating. At this point in time, we had also noticed other customers, both picking up and dining in, complaining and waiting around for their food as well. Eventually, we would get our food after waiting over an hour after originally ordering. They did apologize for the wait, but offered no explanation as to why. I understand that the dinner rush can be quite overwhelming, however I do not believe that warrants such a long waiting time and the complete lack of transparency about how long it would take. If they had been more honest about the wait time, I would likely be less frustrated about it -- instead, my time and value as a customer felt completely disregarded. I do not often (ever) leave reviews for restaurants, but I sincerely hope that the Thai House (now Thai House Tokyo Sushi, I believe) is able to rectify this issue. My friend and I decided to take a COVID adventure to Millburn to check out Trader Joe's and several local spots. Our first stop was to Thai House for a late lunch. We had not done any research other than finding out what vegan options were on the menu. Upon arrival we were greeted with a welcome, offered hand sanitizer and informed of their COVID protocols which included takeout and delivery (vie uber eats and grub hub). We proceeded to order Basil Vegetable with Brown Rice and Stir Fried Shredded Tofu with White Rice. We sat outside on a bench and shared a sample of each other's order before eating our own. It was delicious! I'm happy we found Thai House here on Yelp. We look forward to ordering again next time we are in Millburn. read more

Came here for a Saturday lunch with my BF and his mom. To our surprise they offer their lunch special all 7 days! Each of us ordered something different and shared. The portion size is perfect; you feel satisfied but not stuffed until you hate yourself. The service is good, and the interior is casual but proper. This place was not easy to find, it was locate in a back alley way, buried. I could only imagine trying to find this place late at night. Parking is scares, however, I came after 6pm on a Friday, I didn't have to worry about meter parking. This is a BYOB restaurant. Apparently, they let dogs into the restaurant. Strange and unsanitary. The man did not appear blind, but I am not one to judge. I would have seated them somewhere else away from other customers eating. As soon as I realized the dog was there, the waitress sat the party right next to my guest and I. Luckily I'm pet friendly or I would've asked to be moved. The service was mediocre, I had to repeat my orders because apparently it was the women's first day. The waiter brought the check when I specifically ordered my dessert. I don't think she was paying attention if you ask me. I ordered chicken pad Thai, it was horrible. I have no idea what they put in it, taste watered down. I never had pad Thai that wasn't good to a certain degree, I have no clue what that was. However, my guest had the peanut chicken and that was fabulous, I was jealous. I am a lover of everything thai, but when it comes to trying new thai restaurants I always try the basics first because what Thai restaurant messes up pad thai... My boyfriend spent 35$ for 2 pad thai's , 2 thai iced teas, and something that was supposed to be a chicken roll but looked like a chicken sausage.. Long story short, just look at the picture of the pad thai.. it was pink and gross, who puts red onions on pad thai, that chicken tasted weird, my boyfriend didn't even touch his plate. Disappointed to say that none of the 4 dishes I tried were satisfying and nothing tasted like authentic Thai... Drunken Noodles: Bland, greasy & I tasted no chili/spices. Crispy onions were on top, which was odd - never had a Thai restaurant add this. Tom Kah soup: Tasted like mainly coconut milk and water. No taste of galangal, lemongrass or lime. Thai Chicken dumplings: Seemed overcooked, the chicken filling bland and the peanut sauce was overly thick and sweet. Again, crispy onions on top, which was an unwelcome flavor addition. Roti Canai: Crispy and good flavor, but also very greasy. The curry dipping sauce was a bit too sweet and watery. Terrific local Thai place in a sort of hard-to-find location behind Tinga. The food is always delicious and attractively presented. My go-to starter is the crispy duck salad with mango and pineapple on lightly dressed mixed greens. Off the chain good. That duck is addictive stuff. The chicken satay is good if not great. I love the spicy basil chicken. It's not overly spicy but has a nice warmth. The vegetables are all super fresh and not overcooked. The brown rice here is superb, perfectly cooked and nutty. The massaman curry is also good here, as are the other yellow curries. Pad Thai was merely acceptable. Service is polite and it is BYO. A bold red is always nice with this food. Try it! read more

When I ordered green curry, I wasn't expecting the curry to be LITERALLY green. When we got home and opened the take out box, we almost died (wish I could post a picture). They used green food coloring! The chicken was drenched in a bright green greasy sauce. Yup, the meat was glowing like kryptonite! (Ok maybe I am exaggerating a little but it was quite a sight) We had just gone to the gym and we were starving... so we ended up eating the green chicken. I had a delicious meal here on a Wednesday night. When I arrived around 6:30 the place was empty so I was able to get the attention of the staff easily. They were friendly and I had no complaints with service. The decor is pretty standard as well of what you expect on a thai restaurants. I was bit surprised when I found out the staff weren't actually Thai as they spoke Mandarin but the food I had was still pretty good. So while they're not really authentic thai food at least they make what they make well :-) The Tamarind Duck I had was really good as far as the duck goes. It was really juicy and fat and roasted really well. The veggies sort of complements the meat well but honestly it was the duck that was the star of the meal. The side of brown rice I had was pretty standard. Portion wise was also good no complaints there. Price was bit higher than what I would expect but I suppose that was the reason for the nice decor since its a more upscale restaurant. I most likely won't have a chance to come here again unless have a reason to visit the area but the meal was definitely a good one and its worth a try read more

Somehow their Pad See Ew and Drunken noodle taste the same...and it's not even good...

I received a mailer menu from this place recently and thought we should try it. Last night, I ordered delivery (free). The guy was very courteous and nice on the phone. We ordered the "drunken noodles" beef pad see ewe, traditional shrimp fried rice and the veggie spring rolls. We live in Springfield and the delivery was quick and the delivery guy was courteous and nice. I must say, everything we ordered was very tasty and definitely better quality then some other "take-out" spots. The leftovers were just as delicious today! I will definitely order from them again and plan to visit this place in person as well! read more

Well, the one good thing I can say is that they definitely did try to accommodate my request to make the Pad Thai vegan and gluten-free by taking out the fish sauce and soy sauce. But apparently that meant the rice noodles were cooked with NO sauce (not even the tamarind sauce that Pad Thai is usually made with), so it was pretty much rice noodles sauteed with vegetables and a little bit of salt. For what it was, it wasn't bad, but it was not anything resembling Pad Thai anymore. Oh well. I would have left three stars for this review if they also hadn't really messed up my order prior to me getting the aforementioned pseudo-Pad Thai. I know I had clearly stated that I did not want any meat products in addition to saying no fish or soy sauce, and clarified "no chicken, shrimp, or any meat".
