Pad Thai: I like the basil but otherwise flavorless and pale colored. Got a large chunk of white plastic wrapper served with the dish. Pad See Ew: Greasy and over seasoned. Fried shallots was a plus. Well, the one good thing I can say is that they definitely did try to accommodate my request to make the Pad Thai vegan and gluten-free by taking out the fish sauce and soy sauce. But apparently that meant the rice noodles were cooked with NO sauce (not even the tamarind sauce that Pad Thai is usually made with), so it was pretty much rice noodles sauteed with vegetables and a little bit of salt. For what it was, it wasn't bad, but it was not anything resembling Pad Thai anymore. Oh well. I would have left three stars for this review if they also hadn't really messed up my order prior to me getting the aforementioned pseudo-Pad Thai. I know I had clearly stated that I did not want any meat products in addition to saying no fish or soy sauce, and clarified "no chicken, shrimp, or any meat". The service were very good. Food we ordered::Tom Yam Soup, Vietnamese roll with lettuce, Crispy Fried Tofu and Spicy Thai combo. Overall food came out in reasonable time and they are all average in taste, nothing stand out as outstanding or great. 0 stars if I could give! I don't ever write reviews but I just wasted almost $9.00. I'm not sure what happened whether the chef is on vacation or what but I had 3 bites of the pad thai. I love Thai food and I judge a new restaurant by their basics - pad thai. If they can make a kick ass pad thai - everything else goes. This one was "some" kind of thin noodles chopped up to 1 inch short swimming in grease/fat - whether canola oil or what - I wasn't going to fish around to find out. The vegetables were few slices of red onion and a stalk of parsley on the top including a wedge of lime. Most disgusting dish ever. Wasn't even good to look at. I hope it helps someone to make a more educated decision in the future. read more

Not only the worst Thai food we've had, the WORST FOOD we've had in N.J. since moving here 1 1/2 years ago. It looked wrong( think grey)/ smelled bad and from the small Bites we could stomach was horrid. My husband, god love him, will eat mostly anything I put in front of him. $55 worth of food and drinks- they were even bad went in the trash. Had trouble finding it but it was worth to keep looking for a minute more. The appetizers were really good. Had the Thai Dumplings with pork. They put a peanut sauce glaze on it that's really good. Also had the Thai Roll. Very interesting. It is like an egg roll but with a crab stick and mango with a blueberry sauce on it. I would recommend. The Massaman Curry was very good, but the Pad See Ew was okay. (I've had better.) But overall this was a nice Thai place. The servers were very nice, too. read more

Just ordered from here and it was amazing! Have ordered from other thai places in the area and wasn't satisfied. Thai House quoted us 50 minutes for delivery and it came in about 25 minutes, score! It is a Sunday night which might have helped. Food was delicious! My husband got the spring rolls which were crispy without being oily. His Pad See Ew was really good as well. I got the Pineapple Fried Rice with Shrimp. Most places I've ordered from generally pack a ton of rice and minimal amount of shrimp- this dish was overflowing with shrimp which of course is what you want! Had a late dinner here the other night since they were open till 11pm. I was skeptical when I saw more than just Thai food on the menu- general tso's chicken, summer rolls, sesame chicken. I went for my usual beef pad see ew. This was the most unauthentic one I've ever had. Pad see ew is basically just wide noodles, Chinese broccoli, and egg. They put all sorts of vegetable fillers (bamboo, onions, mushrooms) in it- hardly any Chinese broccoli (might have even put in asparagus instead). Won't be coming back. read more

The location is kind of obscure but the food is great. The staff is very polite and their curries are excellent. They have options for almost everyone including a vegetarian curry which is just as delightful as most of the others. You don't have to worry about portion size as they serve you more than enough. Though the rice is a little more costly per serving I would highly recommend going at least once just to try it out. read more

What a disappointment. First, they are under staffed. It took them about 15 minutes before anyone came up to us. After waiting a little longer we were seated in a back room that had no heat except for a space heater. (That's probably why the price are cheap. They must save a lot of money on utilities. The food was bad. Asking for extra spicy food did not help. It was still bland. The tofu had had the consistency of day old bubble gum. The green curry was watered down. Very conveniently located restaurant tucked between Millburn Avenue & Essex Street with a dark and calming ambience. The lunch special is a great deal for only $7 to $8 a person and lots of choices. A very comfortable spot in downtown Millburn. I will be back. read more

As Thai food food and sushi have surpassed Chinese food in popularity, many Chinese restaurants have reinvented themselves as "Asian fusion", Thai or Chinese + sushi. On my only visit here, I thought the cooks were unlikely to be Thai, as my dishes--Thai chicken in lettuce and yellow curry did not taste like Thai food, but like Chinese food. They were not bad, but bland--although the veggies were nice and crisp. The menu's inclusion of Vietnamese summer rolls, Indonesian sambal and General Tso's chicken and sesame chicken is not something I have seen Thai restaurants run by Thais do. In fairness, everyone else liked their dishes more; portions were generous; prices are reasonable; brown rice is very good; menu is lengthy; staff is nice; and it is BYO. Perhaps I was just unlucky in my choices, but in this area that never happened at Thai Passion in Chatham; Siam Inn in Cranford or Splash of Thai in Westfield. read more

Although Millburn, NJ is far from being a mecca of Asian cuisine (it isn't), this particular Thai restaurant is actually quite good. Generally, food is flavorful but not too greasy. Unlike many Thai restuarants, their Pad Thai isn't drowned by the sauce.And yes, the brown rice isn't only tolerable, it's actually good (w/o competing w/the entree). Thai iced teas/coffees are comparable to Chinatown. Probably a premade out of a bottle, but who cares, it tastes good. Good service and the restaurant itself is clean and very spacious. Just ate at Thai House in Millburn. The pad Thai was Definitely quantity over quality. Everything was a soggy mess There were cabbage and carrot strips everywhere??? I guess in English we call them "fillers". But in Chinese there's a four character phrase for everything and always has some ancient story to describe it. I guess that's why the Chinese language is so beautiful. Anyway the phrase is "Lan yu cheng shu" Which sorta kinda translates to "mixing in with the crowd and pretending to be something you're not", imposters! Moral of the story. I've Ive had pad Thai from almost every Thai restaurant from here to Thailand and this is by far the worst. There's some liquid on it so it's slimy. My local spot is closed early so I only ordered bc they were open. Worst idea ever! read more

another positive review for this new restaurant. Ate there last Saturday, cons first, as with any restaurant they are still figuring out the service a bit. Got stuck in the horribly decorated back room/party room. Between the tv mount (sans TV) and lack of decoration this room was very depressing. And we were told the two empty table were reserved upon entering and when left only two people had been seated at those four tops. Also our server was a bit slow and confused but I believe I overheard it was only her second day. All forgivable for a casual restaurant experience and issues that should get better. Now the food...home run, drunken noodles, green curry chicken (we got in error had ordered red beef curry), and thais style fried brown rice...all amazing. I cook alot of curries and dont think I have ever matched this. Brown rice was great as well and the noodles were a good representation, not too heavy or greasy. We've tried this place a few times and I just don't know where all the grease in their food comes from. I know our area could really use a solid Thai place but the Thai house is by far the last in the totem pole. Their veggies usually look old; their shrimp is so small; their beef is coated with who knows what. We are going to have to stick with Khun Thai and even try Thai Amarin one more time. We ordered a classic thai (pad thai) dish and a vegetable dish. When the pad thai came out the noodles were overcooked and soggy. The vegetable dish was very tasty but was a bit oily. This is more like a 3.75 star. Although my kids LOVE this place and would give 5 stars. The food is good, but not amazing. I would call it "solid" and worth going to. The menu has a lot diverse options from curries to some of the more traditional menu items. Pad Thai, etc. For me, this is a good spot for weekend family lunch or early dinner. I also get takeout here, which is usually prepared quickly. In summary: good and solid. Not amazing. But definitely worth trying if the menu appeals to you. read more

It's hidden in an alleyway, not on the Main street. Vegetarian food items are just OK here, nothing too exciting to write about. I don't think they have a signature dish or any specials (at least they were not mentioned to us) the waiters we encountered were all stoic, we had to flag them down several times to ask for things. This town has two Thai restaurants and both are so-so. Sure, you'll get your pad thai fix on but why can't they up their games a bit? One would think in a small town like Millburn with two Thai places, at least one of them would be like "this town ain't big enough for the two of us" and starting producing better food. They should be dueling in the kitchens and whipping out authentic Thai food, like the Wondee Siam restaurants in Hell's Kitchen (Manhattan). I've had then twice now and nothing horrible but nothing that gets me excited to come back. If you're gonna go, stay with the basics and go during lunch. I met a friend here for lunch on a weekday last month. Initially, I was confused because when I arrived at the address, I was standing infront of a vacant building. I was unaware that the restaurant's is located in the back of the building. Once we entered the establishment I was immediately pleased. The decor is lovely, and setting was cozy. The servers were friendly and attentive. The menu has a variety of options, and their lunch list was afford. We paid $18 for 2 beverages, 2 lunch specials, and an appetizer. The food was terrific! My mom and aunt are not bing ethnic food eaters, and didnt have much expereince with thai food. So we got the spring rolls for an app which were very good.. Came out piping hot! I ordered the drunken noodles which were sooo good! Lots of veggies and chicken in there and it was just spicy enough without being too much and making my eyes tear while i ate. (that happened to me once with drunken noodles lol) My sister got the pad thai which looked great and she enjoyed it however because of the peanuts on top, I was not able to try hers. My mother got a chicken mango dish with crispy rice cakes which was really good too and my aunt got the beef spare ribs which she really enjoyed! Both my mom and aunt were impressed and enjoyed their food completely! Altogether the bill was about $65. Not bad at all! Next time we will bring wine :) A quick note about the decor: very funky and trendy IMO with fringe "curtains" hanging between the tables to give the customers some privacy.. and also an ethnic look which was cool. The first time my husband and I came here, I had the pad thai and it was just ok. Fine, but not especially flavorful. Since pad thai is my go-to at thai restaurants, I wasn't necessarily planning to come back. However, more recently, we came back with a couple friends and we got several different curries and a stir-fry dish. My massaman curry was one the richest, most flavorful thai curries I've had, and everyone else was very satisfied with their meals as well. The papaya salad was also quite good, and the brown rice two of us got with our meals was very flavorful and interesting as well. Order lunch from this place all the time with my coworkers and I've got to say that I love it! I always order the drunken noodle lunch special which is about $8 (comes w soup or egg roll) and it's such a good portion! I always end up in a food coma during the work shift! Since we always ask for delivery, my coworkers and I tend to prepare ourselves to wait an hour for this food but honestly, they have never been more than 30 minutes! Not too bad. Summer rolls came with an oily dipping sauce, that reformed when refrigerated and tasted good, but not when the whole first layer was oil. Pad see ew was pretty good. Not the most saucy and flavorful ever, but not oily--which is a blessing for Asian noodles in Millburn! I don't think bf liked his chicken pad thai too much as he made a snarky comment about ordering here again, but he agreed that at least it wasn't oily. read more
