I've been meaning to write a review for this spot ever since my folks took me out here for a pre-birthday dinner in late January (2026). I don't know why we haven't frequented this spot sooner (at least during trips back home), but EVOO is legit. Also NOTE - its BYOB (but there are even some places nearish by you can grab a bottle or 3 if needed). Our server was very attentive, despite the restaurant being fairly busy. For apps, we decided on the: Hummus - how do you properly judge a Mediterranean restaurant without trying their hummus, and this was creamy, decadent and served with some fresh pita. Grilled Calamari (with roasted red pepper, lemon, evoo, capers, red onions) - very nicely cooked, not rubbery at all Grilled Octopus (with roasted red peppers, fava puree, capers, onions, red wine vinegar, arugula, evoo) - if octopus is on the menu, I'm gonna have it. For my entree, I got the pan-seared scallops with cauliflower puree, quinoa, spinach, heirloom tomato. Loved it. Cooked perfectly, loooved the silky puree...just a solid solid dish. All in all, EVOO definitely deserves to be on the Millburn/Essex shortlist when looking for nicer places to dine out. Can't wait to get back and try some more of their menu! read more

Service was great, the restaurant had many employees refilling waters, bussing, and waiter was knowledgeable about specials. A friend and I went on a Thursday at 6:30 with no reservation and were sat immediately. The place did begin to fill up after we sat. Unfortunately the food was not anything to write home about. I've been to many great Greek places in NJ and this is somewhere I would never return to. And that's not even considering the dead fly in my glass of ice. Our server, Constantine was terrific. They start you off with wedges of pita and a delicious hummus. We all shared some appetizers, grilled calamari, Greek salad , and ahi tuna tower. All were good. For mains two in our group got chicken souvlaki, one got salmon, one got the ahi tuna, angry shrimp and I got the lamb shish kabob. All though food was ok to good. Nothing was great. Service was excellent. Very polite and he was very careful about my allergies. The hummus was deliciously garlicky and creamy. My husband raved about the Baba ganouch. EVOO & Lemon has become one of my favorite spots, and every time I visit, it's a consistently wonderful experience. While I've tried a few different dishes here, my absolute favorite is the lamb. Most recently, I had the lamb shank with orzo, and it was absolutely delicious--the meat was so tender and flavorful, and the orzo paired perfectly with it. I also had the beet salad with garlic purée during my last visit, which was a special that night. It was such a unique and flavorful dish; I hope they bring it back often because it was a standout. The waitstaff here are incredibly efficient and attentive. They're quick to respond when you need something but never hover, which creates a relaxed yet well-served dining experience. We have now eaten here three times. All three have been enjoyable experiences. This is a small to medium sized eatery. The menu is simple, but everything we've tried has been excellent. As with many NJ restaurants, it is BYOB. We always favor that as an option. The service is attentive, yet low key. While I am rating this restaurant a 5-star experience, it is not an upscale "5", but rather a "5" based on good food and value at an unpretentious location. All meals begin with lightly charred pita slices and hummus. Unlike some other Greek restaurants, this comes to the table of every meal and is not an ordered extra, which is a nice touch and irresistible. A regular on the menu are the tiger shrimp, which I believe is their most costly dish and I've had it twice. Depending on the availability of the size, one time I was served two shrimp and another time it was three. I'd summarize our dining here as being at a down-scaled MILOS, a famous Greek restaurant I've previously reviewed. While Milos is very upscale, with a wide and varied menu, it is understandably pricey. EVOO & Lemon is the other end of the price spectrum and menu selection options, but their food has been the equal of the food served at Milos. If good food and great value is what you're after, EVOO & Lemon should be on your radar. EVOO & Lemon is located near the busiest and primary intersection of the town of Millburn, near many other local eateries. I recommend you try it and experience it for yourself. read more

I just never get tired of good Greek food and I'm always excited to find great new restaurants to add to the mix when I want a taste of home. I came here with my mom not too long ago for a lunch and had a great meal. We sat out on the back patio because we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day and shared a few different plates. First, I love that they bring some warm pita and a small serving of hummus over after you order. The food didn't take long at all, but it was definitely nice to munch on something while we waited. We started with the lentil soup and the grilled artichoke. The lentil soup was really tasty, but did have a strong vinegar taste, which was pretty new. My mom who usually loves lentil soup but hates vinegar was not a fan, so I happily cleaned the bowl. The grilled artichoke was a show stealer. It came on a bed of hummus, with grilled bits of asparagus, tomatoes, maybe onions or garlic? It was delicious and we left trying to figure out how we could recreate it at home. For our entree, we split the signature salad and added salmon and avocado. The salmon came on the side with capers and on a bed of lettuce. To add salmon, it was an extra $18 which is alot, but at least it was a pretty decent size. Still, $18 is a lot and it was another extra $6 or $7 to add the avocado. So yes, it was delicious, but definitely not $40+ for a salad delicious. It's a beautiful space with friendly staff and a delicious menu. It can be pricey but at least it is BYOB! If you find yourself in this cute little town craving Greek food, it's a good choice. read more

Really amazing place! The service was amazing and super friendly. Ambiance was perfect for either date dinner / brunch. Most guests were adults 21+ at least the time we went. The food was just amazing, juicy and tender lamb, great veggies grilled I wish I knew what they sautéed with! The guest that got salmon said she got the best salmon in her life! I dont usually get lamb but I was curious. It was so soft and tender. Well seasoned. Only downside was the potatoes, that was only salty thing from the dish. The kebab was also so so delicious. I am not sure if the baklava is originally looks like this but they were very strong in nutty and cinnamon flavor and was not sweet at all. Overall would give 4.5 stars out of 5 read more

EVOO and Lemon has the best whole Branzino I've ever had in the U.S. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and light, with an open kitchen. Honestly, everything here is delicious, but I tend to stick to my favorites since it's become a comfort meal. I usually opt for pick-up on Sunday nights once a month because I love sitting at home and enjoying my fish with their roasted potatoes and mushroom risotto on a lazy day, watching bad TV. We ordered the octopus & tuna tower for appetizers, and each got the Bronzino for our mains. Everything was spectacular and exceeded our expectations of the restaurant. Flying out of Newark at 3:30 we wanted a good lunch spot near the airport. Researched Milburn and E & L came up near the top and lived up to the 5 star reviews. Greek salad was excellent. Fresh non dairy butternut squash soup was unique and delicious. We have had octopus all over the tri-state and this was among the best we have tasted. The salmon was perfectly prepared - slightly crispy outside and moist center. The server and staff were friendly and descriptive about the menu. I've been coming here for years and EVOO never disappoints. One of the best Mediterranean restaurants in the area with fresh, high-quality food! During the summer they have outdoor seating on the street (the town closes the entire street for the restaurants) which is shared by mainly the millburn standard restaurant across. During the other months they have a few seats in the front of the space and a larger dining room in the back of the restaurant. The overall space is smaller so definitely call ahead for a reservation if possible. For starters - the grilled octopus is a must. It comes with hummus under it and is so delicious especially with the complimentary pita they bring to the table. Also love any of their salads - I'm usually iffy on feta cheese but it's so fresh it tastes amazing. For main meals, my favorites are the grilled branzino fish which you can have deboned or with bone, that comes with capers, lemon and a side of hericot verts. One of my absolute favorite dishes because of how fresh it is. Other favorites are the scallops, angry shrimp, seafood couscous, and even the filet minion which is super tender. Usually at a seafood focused restaurant the other meat dishes don't compare, which is not the case here. For dessert, highly recommend the baklava which has ample nuts and crunchy unlike other baklava's that get mushy. Overall a must go to place. For the quality of food you get the price is reasonable and will continue to stop by here as it's in my family's regular rotation of restaurants! read more

We came here for a Saturday evening dinner and were seated outside. We had our dog with us so I called ahead to make sure they were dog friendly which they were. They even brought out a pan of water for our little pup which was very sweet! We started with the grilled calamari which was delicious. It was very soft, and not chewy like other calamari I've had. I opted for the branzino as my entree which came with green beans. The fish was so light and the lemon caper sauce was so delightful. My fiancé had the tiger prawns and although tasty, they were overpriced in my opinion. We decided not to get dessert but our server was kind enough to bring us baklava to try. Had dinner here before a show at the Paper Mill Playhouse. It's a lively place. The restaurant is very loud and tables are close together. They start you off with some good hummus and grilled pita. We then had the saganaki with fig jam, crab cake app, roasted salmon over a salad of farro, beets, and baby spinach, Chilean sea bass over mushroom and lemon risotto, and Greek yogurt topped with honey and sour cherries for dessert. Portions are generous, we couldn't finish all the food. Everything was prepared beautifully and delicious. Service was flawless. The prices are up there. March 2023 We came here for lunch before a matinee at the Papermill. The food, service & dining areas were fine. Bathroom was clean. Millburn has municipal parking nearby. We'll come back here next time we're at the Papermill. I have two suggestions for the owner. The dining room was basically empty on a Saturday lunch before an almost sold out Disney musical. There was plenty of foot traffic on the street. Why don't you offer a pre-fix lunch before the theater? With a lunch menu (dinner menu is too much for lunch)? Second is the surcharge for credit cards. I can appreciate trying to control your expenses. The problem is people will not do the impulse buy of dessert or appetizer because the question is how much cash is in my wallet. I suspect we would have ordered a desert if you did not have the surcharge. Look at your desert revenue and you decide. read more

I'm a bit embarrassed that I had not reviewed it. I usually get the Bronzino entree which is absolutely delicious. My boyfriend and I had the Gyro Platter ($22). EVOO & Lemon was willing to sub our rice for lemon potatoes, and the sides (potatoes, roasted bell pepper and zucchini) were delicious. The gyro was way too salty. My sister had the Mediterranean Salad ($15), and she said it was pretty good. Had the pleasure of dining at EVOO last night before seeing a show at Paper Mill Playhouse. Food - wonderful. I had the special Chilean sea bass with corn risotto and asparagus. I am not a risotto fan, but this fish and rice was amazing. The risotto was creamy and fish was tender and soft. My friend had the prawns and they looked amazing. My husband had the tuna and he said it was awesome. My husband had the beet salad and he said it was awesome. As per our waiter the octopus appetizer is the top seller. I can see why. The octopus was so tender it melted in your mouth. The hummus and pita which was provided after we sat down was awesome. Our service was amazing, we had three types of wine and the waiter was kind enough to provide with wine glasses for each drink , red wine, white wine. They also kept the white wine on ice. Water glasses were kept filled and plates removed quickly between courses. Ambiance and noise level was perfect. Not to loud, But not quiet. The four of us could actually talk. The restaurant called me an hour or so before arrival to confirm we were coming. We ended up with four instead of six due to illness and the host was fine with that, our table for four, Not six was ready when we arrived. The prices are a bit high, but quality of food and chef's cooking ability was hands down wonderful. Portions were also generous. I have no problem paying for quality food and ambiance when dining. Santo, our server was excellent. He was kind enough to bring us a taste of falafels which is not on the menu. We will definitely dine there again. Thanks to the staff at EVOO and Lemon. read more

We were looking for a place to eat outdoors on a warm spring night and happily ate at EVOO & Lemon when The Standard across the street had a wait. We are glad they did. The food was uniformly excellent. The meal started off with hummus and pita the top layer of which was covered with a seasoned olive oil. The hummus was very creamy. For appetizers we had Pantzaria, Saganaki, and Keftedes. Pantzaria was a delicious beet salad with onions, arugula, and what tasted like a garlic cheese. It actually was made from almonds. Saganaki was a breaded and broiled piece of cheese that was served with a dollop of fig jam. The crispiness and richness of the cheese was a nice foil for the jam. The Keftedes were lamb meatballs served with yoghurt and apricot. The meatballs were surprisingly light. The yoghurt sauce was a little sweet for my taste, but not a deal breaker. Main courses were equally good. The grilled Branzino had great grilled flavor, complemented by Lemon, Garlic, Olive Oil and Capers. The same was true for the Chicken Souvlaki. Angry Shrimp over pasta was the least interesting. The sauce had a nice heat to it, but seemed less special than the other two dishes. Service was pleasant and attentive.
