Didn't dry the lettuce off enough, very watery, and the bottled dressings tasted like Walmart Caesar dressing. The pizza was equally awful, It had four pieces of pepperoni on each slice. My husband and I absolutely love La Strada. This is our favorite restaurant and go-to spot for delivery any day of the week. We order a ton of food and none of it goes to waste. We usually save some for lunch the next day and it's just as delicious. Our usual is an order of chicken parm with angel hair, an order of penne vodka, the mussels app and some fries and/or buffalo wings (if we're reallllllyyyy hungry). All of the entrees come with salad, a yummy house balsamic dressing and a good assortment of bread. The food is always flavorful, hot and fresh. The delivery guys are super prompt and very nice! I highly recommend La Strada and can't wait to order some more soon (as in tonight for dinner!). read more

Out favorite pizza place in Aberdeen was close for the holiday and we really want pizza so we ended up closer to home-Millburn. Food was good, not Aberdeen good but close enough. Calamari was light enough and not greasy. The service was good. The ambience was cozy. We will make a go of this place in another time to see how it stacks up. We ordered 3 heroes last night for take out. A Chicken Cutlet Parm, Veal Cutlet Parm, and a Meatball hero. Upon opening the boxes we knew right away we picked the wrong place. First placing chips within each box gave the essence of a "Subway" hero, not a proper Italian restaurant. The sauce was so bland that Ragu sauce would have been better! The Meatballs looked like they were purchased at Cosco. Besides the small size there was hardly a hint of ethnicity. I would recommend going to Hoboken and picking up any random Grandma who could teach you how to make Sauce, Meatballs etc! I gave a one star only because I couldn't go lower. There is outdoors which is good but can be taken during school days since it is a place lots of local students hang out after class. Their pizza is excellent, top-notch. My husband loves the calamari topping the best. The crust is thin and the perfect texture. I am taking away one star for the veal parmigiana platter I ordered. The veal tasted like frozen, pre-breaded pieces that were fried. The meat was kind of chewy and didn't have a good flavor. The worst part of the dish was the sauce. I am old enough to have been served Franco American spaghetti from a can. That is what their sauce tasted like. It was a weird orange color too. I was given a small plastic container of grated cheese that reminded me of the stuff that my mom used to give us as kids...I think it was in a green shiny cardboard container. The kind of cheese that once you are old enough to realize that you can buy your own fresh hunk of romano and grate it yourself; that you shudder to think that you ever used to eat. This establishment's entire team including- waiters, hosts, and owner (Antonio/Tony)- are racist, disrespectful, and discriminatory. On 9/6/2020, I- a black female resident of Millburn and regular customer of La Strada for over 20 years- experienced blatant racism and disrespect as a paying customer. As I attempted to enter the restaurant through the back for the outdoor patio, I was rudely approached by a waitress and told "YOU CANNOT COME BACK HERE!" I then asked the waitress why that was and she stated that we had to go around through the front. I gave her abrasive and rude words the benefit of the doubt, thinking that this was due to new COVID19 protocols. I entered through the front- as directed by the waitress- and ordered and paid for my food. After paying, I asked the worker if it would be possible to sit in the back patio. He appeared to be shocked that we were sent from the back patio to come to the front and he began to explain that we could sit there. After experiencing the rude behavior from the waitress, I asked if we could be led to the back to be seated. The owner (Antonio/Tony) then stated that he spoke to the waitress and she would help get us seated. We then entered the back and the waitress told us that we could choose any open table to sit at. We then chose a table in the main seating area. Once we settled in our seats, we were rudely approached by a waiter and asked "Can you move from this table?" We then explained to the waiter that we were not willing to move from this seating as we were already settled in and told by members of the staff that we could choose any table. The waiter then rudely scoffed and said "we have reservations" so we then asked the waiter "if there were reservations for this section, why did the waitress tell us to choose any table?" He then laughed and walked away. While we were eating our food, we noticed countless white people walking through the back entrance, the same one we were scolded at by the waitress for entering, to be seated. Not one person that entered through that entrance (~15+ people) was rudely chastised as we were. I wonder why that is? The only difference between my party and the others was that we were Black and they were white. While we were eating our food, not one staff member approached us to check in, offer us water/utensils, or even asked if we needed anything. However, we watched from the side as the tables to our left and right received exceptional service. Once the wait staff noticed that my party was dwindling down with our meal, a waiter came up to us and asked, "Is there anything else? Are you guys done?" to which we responded "Oh, we're just finishing up." To this he said, "Yeah, because we need this table for other people" and walked away. Members of my party and I were confused by this as the parties to the left and right of us had been sitting at their tables for way longer than we had and they didn't at all bother to tell them they needed their tables. Again, the only difference between my party and those ones was that we were Black and they were white. After this encounter, we asked a bus boy if we could speak to the manager, to which he quickly replied "He's busy." We then waited until we saw a different worker and asked him to speak with the manager, he responded "Yea, sure" and went to get him. A couple minutes later, he came back and told us that the manager was busy, but we could go to the front to speak with him if we wished to do so. At this point, I responded that I wouldn't mind waiting until he had a few free minutes because I had never been to a restaurant or even just an establishment where a manager refused to come see about a patron asking to speak with them. Then, the worker explained that he wouldn't have any free minutes and we would have to go to front in order to talk to him. So we proceeded to the front of the restaurant to find the manager. He wasn't even wearing his mask correctly despite handling food in the kitchen. Before we were even able to get a word out, Antonio cut us off and said "Yea, I know. We have reservations though." to which I cut him off and explained that this was not the sole issue. I explained that I was a regular of his restaurant for decades which was the reason why I was incredibly disappointed to experience the discrimination I had that night. We explained from the very beginning how we, the only Black party, were told we couldn't enter. With hearing this news, he said "Who told you this?" and we explained that it was the female waitress. He then stated that he would "deal with her later" and that he "cannot control everyone." My discussion with Antonio seemed to fly directly over his head as he brushed off all of my concerns and just didn't care. This was the last straw that made me realize that this whole establishment is racist and doesn't at all care to improve. Overall, terrible service, especially if you're not white, for average food. read more

We ordered delivery to Springfield from La Strada - a plain pizza, caesar salad, mozzarella sticks and the special Pizza Campania (sundried tomatoes, prosciutto and fresh mozzarella), which I was SUPER excited about because that's just about one of my favorite combos. Well, the Pizza Campania was a major letdown. It tasted like it had been sitting in the pizza display all day and heated up before it left the building. Luckily we had ordered other food too, which was all good. I really enjoyed the caesar salad - it wasn't overdressed and they were able to keep it cool during the delivery, so it wasn't wilted by the temperature of the pizza. Average entree will run you about $15. BYOB I've grown up on this place and love it to death, the owners used to know me really well and loved when i came in with my family. I was visiting a friend on Mechanic St in Millburn, and we decided to order some lunch. We called La Strada. They were so nice. Answered all my questions regarding the cavatelli and broccoli with chicken. The food came right on time. Everything cooked to perfection, including my extra garlic. I never had, in all my years of eating in Italian restaurants, cavatelli with broccoli and chicken this delicious. I am afraid to say, even better than my own. THANK YOU, La Strada!!! Ordered lunch for a work meeting and OMG! One of the best pizza's I've ever had. We ordered the buffalo chicken , mushroom, pepperoni and plain pies. The buffalo chicken was my favorite. I don't usually like buffalo but this one had a great spicy-ness to it!! The amount of chicken and buffalo sauce was just right! No over powering taste of buffalo. The chicken wasn't drenched in buffalo sauce. The amount of spice was just right! It's a bit spicy for those who aren't used to spice. But I don't mind so I loved it! All the other pies were made perfect. Not too much dough and just the right amount of cheese! Def a must try and we will be ordering here more often! Not sure why I haven't left a review until now?! This place is always delicious and consistent! We order regularly for dinners and have also used them to cater a couple of events. Their food is outstanding and the catering is reasonably priced. My friends and I came out to Millburn to check out a show at the Paper Mill Playhouse, and randomly decided on this place since we had no clue about any of the restaurants in the area. The service was very good and the restaurant is quite quaint (the dining area is past the take-out pizza area in the front), but the food was incredibly mediocre at best. Chicken Marsala is basically my "go-to" dish at any Italian place, and although the food looked pretty, it was just SOOOOO bland. No amount of chili flakes, salt and parmesan cheese could redeem it. The foccacia and bread were quite tasty though, as was the Lexy Salad (the combination of goat cheese, fruit and the citrus dressing was spot on!). All of my friends were less than impressed with their main dishes (carbonara, pasta with spinach and sausage, and a tomato-y mahi mahi dish) and unfortunately I don't see myself coming back here on our next visit to the area. read more

A great place with both convenient and quick seating and a restaurant in the back. The prices are reasonable and they have a great selection of pizza available. I went with a friend and would definitely recommend the classic margarita pizza. The crust is very thin and crisp, and the pizza tasted great. My friend got the pizza with pasta on the top and loved it. Though a bit more expensive, it was definitely extremely filling, and she only had one slice. I usually don't leave a review but my group and I were extremely disappointed. We had made a reservation for dine in and made it for plenty of time for when we had to leave which was 2 hours prior to when we had to. I'm not sure if there was just a lack of communication between all the servers or what but it took them forever to even get our order. Our food took forever and we were getting upset because by the time we got our food we couldn't even eat it at the restaurant because we waited over an hour to even get it while tables around us ordered their food after us and got it before us. No server came over to let us know what was going on and we didn't even get a discount on our food which we most definitely should've since we reserved with plenty of time to eat at the restaurant and we asked for dine in service.
