I'm not sure what happened, but this spot very recently changed hands-after being highlighted by the Star Ledger as one of the best new pizzerias in the state. This time we ordered online and had them deliver. Delivery was 10 minutes faster than promised, so I was surprised it was lukewarm. They also did a poor job cutting the pie. It needed salt, and the sausage was sliced so thin you'd think it was from a white truffle, so not a lot of flavor or texture from it. It's still ok, but not above average. read more

First off, don't love giving this review because the people working there are nice. But if you have had $1 slices in NYC - undercooked, low amounts of cheap ingredients, you can relate to their pizza. Had a plain and sausage slice and both were pretty weak. Lots of speciality slices but really dressed up $1 slices. With all the quality places in the area, the only reason to eat here is the convenience of the train station or an errand at the post office. read more

I am not sure when the new management took over, but I have noticed an inconsistency in some of their dishes. It seems to depend on who makes the dishes or the pie. When fresh, The Brooklyn Grandma pizza is the best. The problem I am having is with their pricing. When I order the same thing, the price is always different, always more. When I questioned it, I was told it's because the price of their supplies are going up. I can totally understand that, however, recently I was checking my credit card charges and noticed they charged me twice for two slices, which I could understand the error, except they were two different charges for the same order. This is now the third time I have had an issue with being overcharged. The owner needs to check up on this and perhaps train his staff better. read more

First time getting pizza from here. Saw the picture of the Brooklyn Grandma, thought it looked good, so gave it a try. Looked exactly like the picture and could quite possibly be some of the best pizza I've ever had. I usually ask for my pizza well-done, but no need here. It was cooked perfectly. The sauce had some sweetness to it which was a nice surprise and change of pace. I'd recommend they use the sauce on all their pizza because I tried a plain slice and it just couldn't compare. Four stars for the grandma pie. Crust was terrific, tomatoes and basil were tasty (though a little light on the tomato), and good balance with the cheese. One thing I noticed was that the slice pies looked like they'd been sitting there for hours, and it was only about 1:30. If there was one piece of advice I could give to certain pizza places, it would be to keep rotating your slice pies. When they look all dried out, most people will take a pass. We ordered from here for the first time tonight. Truly awesome, especially for takeout during COVID. No one in my family likes to eat the same thing. From the rice balls for my son who is a vegetarian, to the chicken fingers for my other son, to the mozzarella and peppers for my husband, and finally, chicken and spinach for me, it was all great! Grandma pizza was one of the best I've had in New Jersey. Might need a little bit more sauce, but overall, close to perfect. The sauce was perfectly sweet, cheese ratio spot on, as was the basil. Antipasto was great. We also had the rigatoni pea - unreal. Vodka sauce was amazing, sausage and peas were plenty. Was skeptical to try after Chew chew left, but very happy with this spot! read more

This is a go-to pizza pick up spot for our family. Cheese pizzas here are what kids wait for. My husband loves their buffalo chicken Pizza with white sauce drizzle. Garlic knots are great. I tried salads a couple times which are decent as well. They lost a star due to the deterioration in service recently. If you are picking up- Recommend you check your order before leaving the store as they have missed something for us more often than not. read more

Wish I read reviews before I ordered. Raw tomatoes on an over cooked cracker w a thin film off mozzarella. It almost looked like the cracker was pre made. I know pizza doesn't travel well, but this was not good. read more

I was excited to see that it's now open on Sundays. However, when I stopped by, I had a less than pleasant experience. The owner is rude. Their door was open, so I stopped by to see if they were open and he said, "Does it look like we are open?" Apparently they weren't but a polite response with when they would open would have sufficed. Regardless, we tried it one day. It. Was. Awful. Sauce doesn't taste like anything, pizza was tough. Bread was ok. I miss Chew-Chew. Come back!! This new ownership made my most convenient pizza place into one I will no longer frequent. read more

A wonderful pizza place with great food! The workers are awesome and very friendly. The Brooklyn grandma is the BEST and buffalo wings are top notch at the pizzeria. Ive had my fair share of horrible pizza/ food delivery in my life but please let me start off by telling everyone this is by farrrrrrrrr the worst ive ever had. And even tho the owner/ manager was kind enough to give me a refund it was so bad that i still cant even give it 1 star. The food just tasted like it was prepared from rotten ingredients. We ordered several different things and upon tasting each of them it just worse and worse. All i had was 1 bite and that was enough for me to have a very bad stomach ache. My wife had 2 bites and was up all night in pain. My wife and I order out a lot and I am positively sure that this is the worst food we have ever received in our lives. I wish I could give this place negative reviews. Their pizza is fine. I recommend Arturos more in Maplewood. This place has the worst customer service in the world. We have ordered the last several times as a family from here and always ask for extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping crust/bread. For the past couple times they have neglected to add it. We call and ask for it and they get mad and claim we lied/did not order it. This time we had 2 witnesses as my mother placed the order. They didn't deliver it. We called and they claimed we never ordered it. They told my mother she was lying and then claimed we had to come pick it up. My mom went back and forth and they didn't budge. I decided to go talk to them and pick up the sauces. I explained the situation and point blank asked why they were being unprofessional. They claimed my mother was lying (even though I heard her place the order). Then claimed it was hard to hear over the phone and they were busy. They also refused to give us an itemized receipt and didn't give us the total until we saw the receipt when it was delivered. A couple points 1. Busy people can still be accurate. Even if they aren't businesses can resolve issues quickly by either providing the service after thee fact or refunding immediately. 2. If delivering the items will take a while - explain that to us so we can make a decision? 3. You are now claiming we didn't lie and you can't hear? So you are just covering your behinds instead of just fixing the issue? This whole time the staff was smirking, laughing, and not wearing masks/wearing them inappropriately. The 16 year old that was taking orders kept claiming we were lying. No one seemed to care that we were upset at all. They tried to throw cash in my face and I refused it. I just asked them repeatedly, if you make a mistake (which happens and is okay), why can't you be professional and resolve the issue to maintain your clientele? Do not go here. Ordered a massive quantity of food for delivery during "social distancing/shelter in place" due to CoronaVirus. (2 college age sons home unexpectedly) I requested contactless delivery, so the delivery person left the food on our steps and honked as I requested. Food came WAY sooner than expected, which was impressive considering the size of the order. We had 5 pizzas (various toppings) 2 stromboli, a chicken parm hero, buffalo chicken tenders, garlic knots with cheese, cheese ravioli and mozzarella sticks. Everything was exactly as ordered, including all our special requests regarding sauces, toppings and add-ons. The food was delicious. I was impressed by everything from beginning to end. Online ordering was easy, delivery was fast and food was good. Couldn't ask for more! read more

First off, this is not Brooklyn style pizza. Brooklyn Pizza on Chatham Street, Short Hills, NJ uses a cracker meal crust which was popularized by trendy bars so the guilt would be reduced in the event a whole pie was devoured. This pizza establishment gets it wrong. Real Brooklyn style pizza is greasy dripping cheese with tangy San Marzano tomatoes and a hearty crisp crust. I ask myself if I'd go back to this pizza place on Chatham Street, Short Hills, NJ and I just don't know. There's a lot of bad pizza in the area so maybe I'd be a return customer. It's just not that good though! I can't see right now why I'd return. The pizza wasn't horrible but nothing I would look forward to eating again. I'd needs better tangy sauce and better quality cheese. My pizza had extra cheese and it barely had enough cheese. If that was extra cheese than this place's regular pizza must be quite bad. It is trying to appeal to the yuppies in the area by serving thinner cracker meal crust but falls short on flavor and taste. Actually, I don't see myself returning! read more
