As I was driving, Krust Kitchen pops out from nowhere. The place is take-out / delivery only. There's not much room for a few people inside this establishment. I loved the owner/manager's personality. He couldn't have been nicer and I truly enjoyed his conversationality. The pizza was ok. I ordered the clam pie, and it was a tad dry. There were plenty of clams and it was thick enough, but it seemed to lack the oil/grease that I've experienced from some of the more known places. I vacillated between this pizza and the pesto pizza and wish I went with the latter. I would try Krust Kitchen again. read more

I went with the Memphis Chicken Pizza and some Oreos on the side, and I swear it was like catching the perfect wave at golden hour. We have been waiting to try this place because they seem to have a variety of pizza styles (namely Detroit style). While delivery was super-fast (we used uber), we were very disappointed in the products. Detroit Style- the cheese looked very gummy and I wish it was standard mozz. They use a Wisconsin brick, which tastes mostly of mild cheddar. The crust was very dense and not the airy yet crispy crust we are accustomed to. I couldn't tell where the cheese ended and the dough began. Pan - this was serviceable and the mushrooms were of the can variety (which is actually what we prefer as they are more chewy). The crust was crisp at ends. The cheese left some flavor to be desired. Kudos for churning out pies really fast. We just had different expectations here. read more

I tried Krust Kitchen today for the first time after finding it on yelp. I had no idea it even existed and I'm not even more than 1.5 miles away at most I went with the original thin pan I guess reminded me sort of like a bar pie which I love. If I had to compare it to other classic pizzerias, I would compare it to star Tavern or reservoir in South Orange. I got it from DoorDash so it was a little bit colder, but I expect that so it's not the restaurant fault at all. But once I heated it up, it was delicious and the crust was the way I like it with a little burnt ends. I will definitely go back and try the other stuff, but I'm not super into the Detroit style, but I do want to try the wings and send some other stuff. Would definitely order again. Highly recommend this place for take-out. Prices are higher than other pizza joints, but you're getting the quality you pay for. On top of that, the owner Keith is a real nice guy and great about answering your questions. This is take-out only and not really any waiting room so don't arrive too early or be prepared to wait in your car. Tried several of their pizzas along with a few of their appetizers, sandwiches, and desserts over the last couple years. Their Detroit Style is their most famous, but you can't go wrong with any of their specialities. I personally loved the New York Style as well as the Trenton Tomato. Toppings are a little pricy to add on but their ingredients are fresh, so it's worth it if you feel like splurging on pizza a little bit. Their non-pizza items are also done well, so it's not just purely a pizza spot, and really with the menu huge as it is, you can most certainly find something for pretty much anyone. Desserts are pretty solid too. It depends on what you like, as I've enjoyed some and others not as much. I'll always recommend the Creme Brûlée Cheesecake, which even stays good to eat the next day, if for whatever reason you end up deciding to save it. If I have a complaint, it's that they don't offer lunch during the week and are closed on Mondays, but hey small price to pay. read more

This joint is a solid 4 stars. The customer service was great. Kelly, the GM was so nice. The toasted ravioli wasn't memorable. The sauce was great with it. The creme brûlée cheesecake was fire. 5 stars. Obviously, scratch made. The detroit pie got mixed reviews. The toppings ended up getting smashed on the roof of the box but it turned out alright. Tons of gooey cheese. The pepperoni was very good. We enjoyed the corner slices very much. Definitely will be back since it's around the corner from us and the menu is extensive. read more

PSA to anyone curious about the Detroit style pie to perhaps choose another option, or another pizzeria altogether. We heard about this place and decided to try it out for the first time after seeing some pretty great reviews and the pies looked great! Unfortunately, photos did NOT reflect the product we consumed. The pies were on the pale side, the crust on the 'hand tossed' pie or the pan pie compared to a Dominos pie (and I'm being generous by saying that). But what I am really writing this review about, is the Detroit style pie. PLEASE DO NOT get this pie unless you want to ingest raw pizza dough. It is clear that the center of the pie did not reach the proper internal temperature to fully cook the dough. I was hesitant to eat it when the cheese seemed barely melted on the top, but figured they follow basic food safety measures to ensure the internal temperature of the pie would result in a cooked product - I was wrong. We were both sick as a result of just eating a couple bites before pulling the cheese back and realizing the dough was still raw. We reached out to them via their contact form on their website and haven't heard back. Truly disappointed with the product and the lack of customer care as we wanted to alert them to avoid anyone else from getting sick. read more

Small shop, takeout only, and a lot of those fun splurge foods that you'd be looking for after a night out. They open at 4pm Tuesday through Saturday and are open late, catering to the night crowd. I tried the 16 inch large plain pizza and it was great - a thinner crust and perfectly crispy! Also tried the pumpkin cheesecake which was bursting with pumpkin flavor - I believe this was a seasonal specialty but it's nice to see their dessert options updated frequently. Decided to try a new pizza place in Madison for pick up on Uber Eats. My Daughter didn't want pizza so she ordered The Big Tex which is a "loaded bomb" with shaved rib eye, pulled pork, bacon, cheddar and BBQ sauce. She wasn't a fan but so it goes. I ordered the Memphis BBQ with chicken, bbq sauce, jack & cheddar cheese blend with red onions. It was exactly what I wanted and very yummy. My wife had a personal pizza made custom which she enjoyed. My other daughter got The Detroiter which she thought was too thick. My Wife killed it off. Really nice people here. Newly opened pizza spot in a saturated area. In my opinion - the top two spot in Madison. Super friendly owner and staff. Small spot with zero tables. Take out only (or delivery). Their menu is unique along with their hours (everyday 4pm-2am). We decided to order a bunch of different pies: The Detrioter - their take on the Detroit style square pie. Very good. It's like an offshoot of the Sicilian but a little thicker and should be lighter. Loved the caramelized edges and there is loads of cheese! The sauce was near perfect. The plain individual - good amount of cheese and sauce. Great crust. Kids approved. Memphis BBQ - the best out of all of them! The combo of breaded chicken pieces slathered in bbq sauce on a pie with blends of cheeses and red onion. A must order. Very hearty and will fill you up. Pesto pizza - liked by the fam but I wasn't too keen on it. Dough was a bit over cooked and it was a little too simple. Could use some other ingredients. In addition to pizza they also have - wings, meatballs, pretzels (interesting addition), loaded bombs and bites (pocket sandwiches). None of these we tried but will next time. This is a small take out only place that makes fantastic food. They have varietal pizzas like Detroit style that was fantastic, and their "new york new york" pie is very much the brooklyn style thin crust pizza. The cheeses and sauce he uses is first rate. We also have tried the cheesesteak pie (just enough meat, not too much) and the Chicago deep dish is great, just be warned it is heavy. I haven't tried their sicilian pie yet, curious to see how that is (few people out here in the burbs know how to make it compares to the NYC neighborhood places). We also had hamburgers here and besides being huge they were really, really tasty on a great bun, absolutely loved it! I have spoken with the owner and you can tell he is really into it, he is a trained chef and it shows in the food he puts out and that he has a passion for it. I ordered cinnamon sugar pretzel nuggets since I was in the mood for Auntie Anne's. I will say it was not as good as the mall pretzel whatsoever. The dough was pretty tough, so I wouldn't order these again. I would give the pretzel nuggets a 3/5. I also ordered the churros which were pretty good, but if you have ever had a churro from Disneyland, well... there is not contest. I give the churro 3.5/5. I then ordered the Memphis BBQ pizza. It could be an East Coast thing, but every time I order a pizza, the chicken is fried. Not a big deal but once in a while I would just like grilled chicken... ha ha ha. Just stopped in for the first time. Ordered their Detroit and NY style with 1/2 pepperoni. We thought both were fantastic. First the Detroit, cheese and sauce were very balanced on a light thick crust. My daughter, who loves Sicilian, was blown away. The NY is more traditional, also a great cheese sauce ratio, very little flop and a tasty crust. The pepperoni was great quality and very tasty. Spoke to one of the owners. Terrific guy! Everything was excellent and ready at our pick up time. The next time was a solo run. I had cavatelli with ricotta. Tasted like mom's and it was a large portion. Heard a lot of good things about this place so I was pretty excited- really don't understand where the positive reviews are coming from. Staff was friendly and order was ready at promised time, but it all went downhill from there. Was essentially an over priced (and worse quality) Pizza Hut or Red Baron in the freezer aisle. Just really lacked any of the flavors and ingredient quality that I would expect from a locally owned pizza place. Detroit style pizza was awfully pale/doughy mess and the crust on their regular style pizza seemed like premade cardboard with no flavor. Chicken topping on other pizza was just tiny, cubed pieces of flavorless grilled chicken- no seasoning. Really disappointed overall. Looks were deceiving and next time I'll go with one of the national chains or a frozen pizza before I ever come back here. read more
