But after a recent trip to Italy, we both agreed... pizza in Italy is on another level! So imagine our surprise yesterday when we stopped into A Legna Wood Fired Pizza and after the VERY first bite, we looked at each other and just smiled. This Margherita pizza was hands down the BEST pizza we've had in New Jersey, and trust me, we've tried pizza spots all over the state! Wow, even for takeout this pizza was amazing. The tomatoes were chunky and sweet, the pull of the mozzarella, and the basil was so fresh I could smell it while it was reheating in my air fryer. It's hard to eat regular pizza again from the places around me after eating the Margherita from here. I plan on going to this place in person next time I'm in Morristown! read more

We wanted to try a new place in town and decided to test out A Legna from a friend's recco! We ordered the penne vodka with chicken, chicken alfredo and some mozzarella sticks - all for pickup/takeout - and all in all it was a great meal! The vodka sauce was delicious - not chunky, but had nice pieces of prosciutto which was a nice touch (and uncommon in vodka sauces in Morristown!) and the mozzarella sticks were chunky and yummy. I didn't love the marinara - it almost had a sweetness to it? - but still pretty good. And, while the alfredo was overall OK, it wasn't our favorite that we've had in town. Dare I say the alfredo sauce was *too thick*? I would definitely order food from A Legna again and would love to try the pizza next time! read more

Tried their new Roman style pizza today. Instagram lured me in. Definitely looks very enticing in pictures. In person- it was indeed tasty and I enjoyed the fluffy crust...but something was missing. It wasn't as savory as I would have liked. I feel the dough almost had a sweet taste and didn't have that yeasty flavor. Once you cut into the pie, the crust at the ends of the slice gets very saturated by the sauce and almost disintegrates and falls apart, which I didn't love. I feel this would be better if the dough was more sturdy and then also maybe less sauce. read more

Returned to A Legna and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. I remember our server, Lisbeth, from the first visit and she was just as outstanding. She does a great job at handling dining customers, as well as preparing deliveries. We started with the Baby Spinach Salad (Fresh pear, goat cheese, walnuts, honey mustard vinaigrette). This salad was large, tasted fresh, and I had to ask for a to-go container. I'm not a fan of walnuts, but the way all of the other ingredients combined with the nuts, it made the salad enjoyable. For entrees, we chose the following: Minestrone Soup, Chicken Noodle Soup, Pasta with garlic and olive oil, and the Burrata Roberto Pizza (San Marzano Tomatoes, cream filled burrata, cherry tomatoes). This was a 12" personal size pizza and it was OUTSTANDING, as the photos will show. I enjoyed every bite of this pizza, the cheese was pleasantly creamy, the basil leaves were large, and I highly recommend it. When Fiamma closed I was bummed, so it's nice to have another delicious pizzeria back open in the same space! At A Legna you can find similar pizza to Fiamma -- neapolitan / wood-fired pizzas that are made to order and ready within two minutes. The menu has a large variety of pizzas, plus other classic Italian restaurant dishes like pastas, salads, meatballs and the like. Pies come in small or large and are around $12-$20 depending on size and toppings. Hubs and I ordered two smalls but could've easily shared one. They are pretty big and super filling because the dough is very thick. Usually neapolitan style pizzas are a little more thin crust, but these pies were very thick and chewy. We went splits on a plain margarita and a veggie pie that had spinach, garlic, onions, olives and goat cheese. The crushed tomato sauce was super sweet and flavorful, and there was lots of melted fresh mutz on both pies. I just wish the pies were a little thinner and had a better distribution of toppings. A lot of the toppings were just clumped together which we didn't love. All in all it's still a really tasty pie and I'd order again for sure. It's definitely a different vibe than many of the local pizza shops that are around, so I'm happy to have A Legna in Mo-town! read more

Yup. Really great pizza. My sister and I ordered the caramelized fig and onion individual pie as well as the hot soppresata with mike's hot honey. Even though both were excellent, the only thing I'd have changed is that I wish I'd gotten one savory pie. The double sweetness was a bit much for me. As most people, the savory flavors of pizza is what makes it so good! So I'd recommend balancing the two choices out. Although, both were excellent on its own. I love that so many Morristown restaurants are BYOB. Highly recommend! I was surprised to see on Saturday night the restaurant was pretty much empty, but so many to go orders. A Legna means wood-fired. I had a look that up. Morristown has some nice sections, especially in the Morristown Green for shopping and dining. This place got really crowded the other night. Fantastic wood-fired pie, great crust with the right chew & the right level of char, just $13 for a 12" pizza with many toppings. The new owners are starting out exactly right! Also serves a huge menu of salads, pastas, panini, chicken & fish entrees, subs, wraps and more; I'm sure they're fine but when I come back it'll be for the pie. My dining companion and I split a caesar salad, generous portion for $10, perfectly dressed and decorated (unusually) with sliced cherry tomatoes. We both got 12" pies and even tho they were completely delicious we could barely eat half! My charred veggie with fresh mutz was done right thru to the middle, loved it. A pizza classica had regular mozzarella and yummy red sauce, we added prosciutto for another $2. Prices on our bill were significantly less than on the menu, don't know if that will last though. Vegetarian rating: 4 stars like many Italian places there are good options like eggplant rolatini and that veggie pie I liked so much. BYO beer & chianti. If you order water, they might bring bottles; speak up early if you prefer tap. Extra charge to pay with credit cards. Hopefully they get dining tables out front soon. Not impressed and dont understand the good reviews. The plain pie had way too much sauce, is doughy (only the crust taste cooked) and floppy. It isn'e very good. Tommys Taverns wood fired is way better. 1 star for the pie. The chicken parm sandwich was ok, average - 2 stars. The bread was great but that sandwich (and the meatball parm my two co workers bought) had us burping up food for the next several hours 0.0 for the nasty indigestion from the sndwiches.. I guess the common denominator was the sauce? Not a pleasant experience. Also, the meatballs are small and they cut them in half instead of keeping them whole. They did appear to be real meatballs though. Wont be going back. I wanted to try this place since they opened- another lesson learned of stick to what you know. Originally tried going to Coglinios but left after dealing with a rude employee. Came across the street to A Legna....we were on the fence about getting something to begin with especially since we were in a rush but the gentleman at the front convinced us. Went with a small plain, and it came out very fast in only a couple of minutes. Maybe it was from how fast it was cooked but there was a bit of flop. This place opened up about 3 weeks ago. I was very excited to order as it had previously been another wood fired pizza place that was good but had closed for whatever reason. This place is just as good as the one it replaced. I ordered 2 individual pies last weekend right before they closed for the night and got them delivered. One margarita and one CBR. Unfortunately I ended up receiving a chicken pesto tomato of some sort rather than the CBR, and I didn't end up eating more than one slice since it wasn't what I had wanted. The margarita was good but perhaps next time I would ask them to go light on the tomatoes. Given that they had already closed for the night, I emailed them to let them know the issue and they go back to me the following morning offering to make the correct pie to make things right. I finally decided to take them up on their offer and the CBR was absolutely delicious. The crust was fluffy and the chicken was breaded with good coverage of ranch. Overall, a not so great experience turned into a much more positive one. The staff is super friendly as well. read more
