I've been living here for 16 years and La Strada consistently delivers on good classic NY pizza slices. Toppings of all kinds and a very casual seating area in the front. Sandwiches and salads are available as well. In the back is a full service restaurant which I have also patronized and the entrees are good not spectacular but it is convenient, casual, and family friendly. A nice old fashioned place in Milburn. I imagine that parking for lunch would be a problem because street parking is tough and although there is a municipal lot across the street,it's a business area and shopping area, so parking seems difficult. We went for dinner on a Saturday night so parking should have been easier but I've never seen more cars park over the line hogging 2 spots. We got lucky to find a spot in time for our reservation. We were a party of 6. The front of the restaurant is a pizza shop and the pizza looked very good. There was outdoor seating in the back and when we got there at 7, it was a nice night. When we left after 9,it was pretty cool and one needed a jacket. I don't what they do when it gets cold. There's not a lot of inside room. In our group, two got salmon which they liked; 1 got veal parm and 1 got eggplant rollatini both ok and 2 got variations of chicken. Mine was chicken Murphy which was probably the weakest of the 6 dishes. One was I requested spicy and it wasn't at all plus I've never seen the dish cooked with mashed potatoes; it just didn't work for me. We also got 2 appetizers, clams and calamari, both good. Service was good. They were friendly and attentive. Someone ordered expresso when they meant capaccino and the waiter switched with no problem. The outside area is very dark and it's really hard to read the menu without a smartphone flashlight. They should have better lighting. Portion size is huge and the prices are good. This is pizza place with a restaurant in the back. My experience was in the restaurant. Came in on a weeknight so it was not really crowded. The room looks cozy but the chairs were really uncomfortable. A warm bread basket was brought to the table. In my opinion the bread was the best part of the meal. The waiter came to the table and we asked to give us a few more minutes as we weren't ready to order yet. He looked pretty annoyed at that. When he came back, I asked a question about a chicken dish and his response was pretty lame saying "it's good." No explanation of the dish and no suggestions. I like when I go to a restaurant and the server has knowledge of the food. A pretty undesirable side salad was brought out that had brown lettuce. Big turnoff. I settled on the chicken scarpariello for dinner. The description said it was chicken pieces with garlic, oregano and mushrooms. When it came out it was two chicken breast halves drowned in some kind of bland sause with mushrooms. I don't know where the garlic and oregano were, but they were totally absent. It came over linguine pasta which was really really overcooked. My husband had chicken marsala. It too was very bland and had no taste. I ordered the Fra Diavolo and let me just say if I could give this restaurant a zero star I would. My dish tasted like ravioli out of the can! I spent $20 on this dish so I expected it to be good. And the fra diavolo sauce is supposed known for its spicy taste this was not spicy at all. I had to recook it after I got it to make it have some sort of taste which totally defeats the point of takeout! I would not recommend them at all! read more

My To-go-to pizza place! Love the pizza it's always perfect and they have so many delicious specialty pizza. My favorite is the ranch pizza with chicken bacon and Ranch dressing mmm.. its like an explosion in your mouth! I also LOVE their antipasti salad, it comes with a great portion of meat and cheeses (of course when im feeling healthy) ! I recommend this place if you're around to eat a piece of pizza. I don't know what keeps this restaurant so busy. Granyed I have never had a meal but I work in the area and see a full dining area on w/ends. First time there I had a slice of Vodka sauce pie. It was sooo good. I returned a while later for same and it looked nothing like the first time and against my better judgement I bought it anyway. It was absolutely horrific. couple weeks later I wanted for a plain flight and that was okay. However I did feel sick afterwards. Once again today I ventured out and got a White Slice. Once again I was completely and utterly disappointed. That will be the last time I returned for any pizza. I've order a number of things from here, always amazing. What really got me to write this review was when my Yelp order didnt send, but Yelp told me it did. After an hour I called to check on it, and they had never recieved it. I said I'd just come get whatever they could make quickly and they said "no, way". We went to La Strada for a dinner after we finished a program at the Paper Mill Playhouse. It is probably one of the most frequent Italian Restaurants in Millburn since it is in the smack of downtown. It has a very nice large outdoor seating area with beautiful night lighting stringed around the fences. It is worth the trip especially on a nice day in the spring. The service was quick and prompt. Their homemade Linguini was quite delicious and the Insalata a la Strada salad was a hit! You can't get enough of Italian Bread up north! Definitely a winner in the Millburn area! read more

Pretty solid pizza place when you're needing a greasy gooey cheesy slice. The plain is your average Joe, and the specialty pizzas are pretty good too. Their pastas are just average, though I've had really good fettuccine Alfredo there... it tasted very doughy and freshly made, but that was only once. The guys behind the counter are very friendly... I think. I was pulling out a bunch of dollar coins that the NJ transit machines gave me once, and I'm pretty sure the guy working was like "Oh my God, she's paying in quarters," except he said it in Spanish. Was looking for an affordable but decent restaurant for my residency graduation celebration and I'm glad we found La Strada!!! They truly exceed our expectations! Food was great and a lot too!!! Ordered delivery from here. The chicken parmigiana my husband ordered was not very good according to him, the white pizza with broccoli notgreat and broccoli pieces on it so huge. The broccoli cavatelli I ordered was pretty bland. Kind of disappointed after all the stellar reviews. Good pizza! My friend and I ordered a medium 1/2 4 cheese and 1/2 mushroom pie, and a side of garlic bread with cheese, for delivery on a Friday night. Delivery was quick and accurate, the bill came to about $21. The garlic bread was delicious, and certainly didn't skimp on the cheese! When you're craving cheesy greasy goodness, you don't want the restaurant to moderate your gorging! The pizza was also really good (both parts), although I found the crust part to be a bit too wide. The dog didn't mind our cast offs, but even she couldn't eat all the crust. The 4 cheese pizza was decadent, with the ricotta and mozzarella squirting out with each bite. Another great local spot for a few slices. I've ate in the Restaurant as well as ordering a few slices. I went there last week w my buddy Craig. I went simple and had a regular slice and pepperoni. As always, the pepperoni slice has excess oil so make sure you hold that slice steady over the plate not to drip on your clothes ;~} The crust has the right consistency, A nice firm close in the hand and it doesn't droop. The food was bland (Margherita pizza and gnocchi) - it felt like the kitchen was out of salt and seasoning. The service was painfully slow. Our waiter never introduced himself and we had to ask three times for water refills. The pasta entrees come with a salad which our server did not bring out our entrees- we had to ask for that as well. The back area is cute if you want outdoor dining on a nice evening... but just make sure you have a few hours to spare and bring your own seasoning (truffle salt, yum). read more

Warning warning!!!! I came here on a Saturday night with my husband and four year old. We ordered drinks (a mill, iced tea and a water) ... Asked for it literally 5 times. And bread.... Thirty minutes later we get five glasses of milk, 5 waters and 5 teas.... Then they take our order. Service is super disorganized and SLOW. On top of that. I ordered my daughter broccoli chicken e pasta in butter sauce. It was more like would you like some pasta on the side for your butter??? It was butter soup!! My husband had the fra diavlo that was ok. Pasta was overcooked but it was seasoned right. And I had the salmon. I should have listened to my mama when she told me at italian order pasta, at a seafood resto order fish.... I got food poisoning that night and lasted 3 days!! I just told my neighbor and... She had food poisoning last week from take out she ordered from there! She had fish too!!! Augh. So disappointing for a resto that has been a staple in the neighborhood. Really... Disappointed. This place makes awesome pizza. Worth every dollar. Very nice inside but you get old school pizza like it was made in Brooklyn. Crust is great, sauce is excellent, and there is the perfect amount of cheese. Not so much cheese that you need a spatula to get your slice and not so little that you didnt know it was on there. This is legit one of the best pizza places I have ever been to, at least in my immediate vicinity. They also serve pasta and other Italian food, but I haven't had it. My personal favorite is the white pizza, especially if you manage to get a slice with a lot of ricotta on it. The only negative about it is that the pizza tends to be on the greasy side, but nothing major (I mean, come on... it's pizza!) I would not have felt right lowering my rating by an entire star just for that. The staff also is very good. They're on top of your order, know the regulars, and have really become a part of the neighborhood. Anytime I'm in town and in the mood for pizza, this is the place to go. read more
