One of my must-eat spots whenever I'm back in NJ. First of all, the servers have always been super friendly here! I asked for BBQ sauce and my waitress brought me two different ones because she wanted me to try both and decide on my favorite. And whenever I was running low on water, my waitress was quick to get me more. The Baked Brie burger is my go-to. The combo of burger, bacon, Brie, and fig jam is phenomenal. I cannot sing its praises enough. And their burger patties are delicious on their own- tender and flavorful. And I do enjoy their buns that hold up to all the ingredients. And this is one of the few spots that does sweet potato waffle fries. The best type of fry in my opinion. Get them and be happy. And dip them in the darker BBQ sauce! We are very glad we ended up here, as not only is the vibe more chill and relaxed, with roomy booths and tables, and family friendly, but the food and service were both excellent. I have been wanting to find time to go to this location for 2 years. I am an avid foodie and use to do a lot of work in Summit. I finally made it to The Committed Pig where we sat outside. We ordered spinach and artichoke dip. It comes with bread not chips. Which was tasty. I absolutely loved it. So did my friend that was accompanying me. We ordered the fish taco which we were shocked by the soft shell. However it was our fault for not asking first when I usually do because I don't like soft shell tacos. The taco was amazing though. The waitress was pleasant. I ordered a macaroni burger which came with sweet potato waffle fries. They do not do medium well burgers. Which is weird. The waitress said "either medium or well done" I said well my friend said medium. I don't like waffle fries so I sent them back and asked for regular fries. The burger wasn't seasoned and the macaroni was bland. The Corn pudding came with the tacos and I enjoyed that however my Friend didn't. She sent that back. Because we sent two things back the manager came out to ask if we are enjoying ourselves. We definitely were expect for the unseasoned un cooked burger. The meat was too red for me. We paid and left. In that hour commute home we both threw up everything we ate. I speculate it was the meat or the spinach's dip because you have to keep it refrigerated or it can spoil. I usually have my dip warm but it was cold also. Either way I never ever had an experience where I threw up all my food after eating from a restaurant like that. Something was contaminated. The Committed Pig is a very popular brunch spot in Summit. Part of a chain of 3 restaurants. They serve pancakes, waffles, eggs, burgers. These are what they are known for. They also have some other things. It is a small but varied menu and it is nice that they have gluten free buns and veggie burgers if you have people in your party who need that type of thing. I have been once before I came in the evening after work and had burgers with my friend. I think the burgers are excellent. I don't remember exactly which one I had. They only offer rare, medium, and well done which I respect because it's a pretty thin burger and I think those in between as are probably hard to hit. I had the regular fries which are skinny almost shoe string. I thought they were a little under, a little limp. This time my wife had the sweet potato waffle cut fries which I thought were much better. And I'm not generally a sweet potato fan. So this was lunch/ brunch with my wife and her family so I was able to at least sample a bunch of things. I ordered the chopped Cobb salad and asked for no ham (seems redundant. There's bacon which is essentially better tasting ham) and no cheddar jack cheese because 1. I think this is a weird Cobb salad addition. And 2. I asked for Bleu cheese dressing because a Cobb salad has Bleu cheese damn it. Is spelling it Bleu pretentious or just incorrect? Why not both. And I asked for the dressing on the side. So the fact that I found it a little dry, probably on me. Can't blame them for that. But I thought the grilled chicken was a little under seasoned, and a little dry and I don't know that more dressing would be the answer there. But good overall. My wife had the breakfast bowl she seemed to enjoy it. My mother in law had the fish taco special. They have a specials menu. I tried it. I thought the fish was a little fishy. And by fishy o don't mean made from fish. Obviously all fish is by the nature of being fish, fishy. But this was more so. And I do like fish. My sister in law had the Brie burger which looked amazing and she enjoyed it. Service was outstanding. Our waitress was a delight. It was busy but she made sure to tell us to take our time with the menus. My wife asked for almond milk for her iced coffee and she left room for the almond milk and I think that is a detail that is often overlooked. Came back to make sure everything was okay and she gave us time to try our food before asking which is also not always the case. It is a cute place they have outdoor seating. They have tin ceilings and wood plank walls. Like sort of aged looking wood? I can't remember what that's called. Vintage wood? That's not a thing. I took pictures. And I never take pictures. Fast, friendly service here in this bustling center of town. Not an extensive menu but enough variety to keep you coming back. Had the fried pickles and humus for starters. Both were good! Humus was a thick consistency with a garlicky taste and very good IMO; fried pickles are a favorite here! Our entrees were good as well. Mornay was made very well French Connect - my wife likes her pork roll well done and they cooked it perfectly. This is our second time here and they always do a great job of handling customer requests. Sandwich was excellent. Coffee - great flavor, served in personal decanters to keep it hot and you don't need to chase someone for a refill. Our waitress was excellent, attentive and most importantly got it right the first time every time. Ambience was nice. Music was audible but not loud and selection was vibey. Pat Lafreida is an industry standard. It's a solid choice for a burger and this place uses their meat. The ambiance of the restaurant is chill and my burger was perfection. I came in toward the end of lunch so it was quiet and at 18 bucks for a burger and fries , it really wasn't a threat to my wallet. Matt got the uhhhhh Mac and Cheese burger. He had three concerns: 1. Is it still a burger if the buns aren't burger rolls? 2. Does a Mac and Cheese burger need an additional slice of cheese? 3. Is it illegal to pull a U-turn in a stranger's driveway? I got the um... morning burger thing. I only had one concern: because we are in northern NJ, and because "pork roll" might be more reasonably construed as a bread-related item, wouldn't it be better to use "Taylor Ham" to refer to the ham-y topping? I don't know what The Gang got but she gets all the credit for choosing the spot. I don't think she had too many concerns going in. Ultimately, all burgers were delicious and all of our concerns were forgotten because of the quality of the burgers. The service was solid. On the question of U-turns, I really have no idea. Just spitballing here but, in trespass, the injury is a violation of the property owner's "right to exclude." A showing of "actual harm is not necessary. Injuria sine damnum- injury without harm is still actionable. See Pardee v Camden Lumber; Pile v Pedrick. Property acts in rem- it imposes a duty of forbearance against the world. The right to exclude is hollow if not enforced. See Jacques v Steenburg Homes. Here, Matt pulled into someone's driveway. Although Matt's uninvited entrance onto the property caused no HARM, but he acted in a way that is inconsistent with the views of the property owner. Matt ignored his duty of forbearance and, in doing so, violated the rights of the property owner. Therefore, the property owner is likely entitled to an automatic injunction. See Pile. As this is a tortious action that society has an interest in deterring (intentional trespass to land) the property owner should seek a remedy of punitive damages in addition to an injunction. We came to the Committed Pig for brunch but ended up ordering off both the breakfast and lunch menu (nice to have those options!). We got a croque madame, a garlic avocado grilled cheese, and a cranberry spritzer to drink. First, the service was pretty quick and good even though we were only one of two tables seated outside and the bulk of people were inside otherwise. It was nice to have the outdoor seating choice. The drinks were served in cute mason jars and the food was fast to come out and tasted very fresh. I was surprised by how good the side salad was with the grilled cheese, and had picked the side salad over some other french fry side options at no extra charge. First time venturing away from my usual here - my favorite grill cheeses (spinach artichoke, fig & brie, garlic avocado). I have always wanted to try the breakfast at committed pig - especially knowing it's avaliable all day. So i decided to finally give their pancakes a try - and they did not disappoint! Very good flavor and fluff, the cream cheese icing wasn't too heavy or thick, and the syprup was the perfect touch. My eggs were a little over scrambled/too hard - but I expected that. Not too bad for the price point either. Major shout out and thanks to my server Jason. I've been served by him before and he's fantastic. Polite, prompt, and funny. I don't eat pork - so the sausage or bacon options were a no-go w/my pancakes - he graciously substituted those options for my scrambled eggs at no extra charge. Small gestures are a big deal to me! The Committed Pig was the site of our meal after the First of the Year Hike (conveniently located less than 10 minutes from Watchung Reservation). Our requirements were simple - be open on New Year's. We were also hoping pooch accommodations might be available, but alas - January is not exactly the best time to find comfortable outdoor seating, so we bid our canine chum adieu beforehand (hopefully he had something scrumptious at home). I've been to the location in Morristown within the past year or so, and enjoyed a cattle-centric dinner there. It's deceptively casual; it comes off as almost an edgy, gastropub-ish type place, but the menu is mostly straightforward brunch options and burgers. And at least for the now two Pigs I've been to, BYO. We stopped in around 2ish, and the place was very busy; we had maybe a 10-minute wait, which was more than reasonable for a crew that didn't (and really couldn't - you rarely know exactly when a hike is going to end) make a reservation beforehand. I was pretty famished but thought it might be a little naughty to go straight for the bovine on January 1 so I went with the Garlic Avocado Grilled Cheese, which also came with a light tomato pesto spread. Very tasty and the garlic gave it a nice overall flavor; if you've been to a Tropical Smoothie Café, they had a flatbread version of this last summer, which was slightly better in my opinion - they didn't go as heavy on the cheese. But this one had generous helpings of avocado, which is typically an add-on that places skimp on when they can. The waffle fries on the side were fine; I thought they were a LITTLE bland and needed the ketchup, but one of my chums took one for the team and gobbled most of them up in my absence. Our table split two items as well. We went with the French toast sticks and multiple orders of hash browns (when we initially ordered those, we received two smallish rectangular pieces and realized it wasn't nearly enough - but keep in mind it's not an actual app/shareable on the menu, just a standard side). I don't recall having much of an opinion on the French toast sticks; my preferred dipping sauce option of the raspberry Nutella was overruled by someone at the table who despises Nutella - these likely would have had a more favorable impression on me otherwise. The hash browns were pleasant but nothing out of this world. Again, the blandness popped up with this potato-based side; a little seasoning on the fries/hash browns would have gone a long way here. The service was solid. Despite the fact that the establishment was very busy, our Timothee Chalamet-lookalike waiter was pretty attentive and responsive to several of our off-menu requests (including the aforementioned hash browns and a carafe of orange juice for New Year's mimosas). Another respectable member of the Committed Pig family; you may want to smuggle in some spices if that's a high priority. read more

This is one of my favorite burger spots in NJ. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip. We've been on the hunt for trying to find the best spinach and artichoke dip. The dip here was okay. It was different from other spinach and artichoke dips because it had more of a creamier taste and thicker texture. It also had a hint of lemon. For burgers we got the Haag burger (blue cheese, bacon, and balsamic glaze) and the Bake Brie burger (Brie, bacon and fig jam). We ordered the burgers medium but when they came to us they were closer to the well done side but still juicy. They load the burgers with the toppings and they come with two Pat la Frieda patties on a potato bun. Both burgers were delicious and well balanced between with sweet and salty flavors. I wish the Haag had a little more balsamic glaze as the blue cheese is very strong. Also the fries are awesome. You can get regular waffle fries or sweet potato waffle fries, both of which come hot and crispy. This place also seems to be byob so another nice feature that you don't find in many burger joints. read more

Came in on Christmas Eve for lunch with my parents. We were greeted and seated right away. The restaurant is full of light. The interior was somewhat generic but not in a bad way. Our server was so friendly! Our drinks and food came out quickly. I had a cranberry spritzer as my drink and I was impressed with the tartness of the drink. I ordered the baked brie burger, which only comes in rare, medium or well done. Since I usually get medium-rare, I asked the waitress which way she thought I should lean and she pointed me to rare. With two thin patties, I wouldn't say they were rare, but they also weren't over cooked. The burger was very greasy, so much that I abandoned the bottom bun about halfway through. Other than the grease, the toppings were good but somewhat unremarkable. The sweet potato waffle fries were amazing. I would highly recommend getting these. We get a weekly budget for staff lunches and unfortunately, we have not been able to order because of the increase in staff and this no longer fits our budget. We ordered today because 1. More than 1 person was on PTO and 2. Because I thought it wouldn't cost as much as it did (see below). When I say we were excited I mean we were EXCITED. I went on grubhub or one of those sites and added all most frequently ordered meals and realized it was doable if I did pick up. The website delivery fees are crazy + it didn't allow an order over $150 so delivery was out of the question from the very beginning. It was a fairly large order and most times and I typically order a day in advance from all restaurants we order from. I called the day before and they said they didn't accept orders that far in advance. I call again the morning of and the woman over the phone was great with the orders, read it back to me (98% correct) and gave me the total. The total was about $30 more than what I saw online. I asked about this because now I'm going over budget and her answer was that the online prices are often different than in-store. What?! I truly didn't understand this but it was too late to gather a different food order for 10+ people when they are all in meetings, etc. I don't understand why prices would be different that is very misleading. I arrived and our order was ready to go which I was grateful for. We all ordered different things. Most people enjoyed their food. My coworker ordered the challah toast and there was only custard on part of it which was disappointing for her. I've always only ordered the buffalo chicken grilled cheese and it was disappointing today. It was more bread than chicken. My friend had the same order though and she had a decent size chicken. Mine definitely looked different than the one I ordered last time (the 2 photos I posted). I ordered 13 items (10 entrees, 2 desserts, and 1 drink). Absolutely none of the food was labeled and we had to open every single container (they're small boxes) to find our food. The red velvet fried oreos were amazing as usual and therefore, we got 2 orders so everyone could have one. Unfortunately, we were charged for the drink we ordered (lemonade) but it was not given to us. I did not realize until we unpacked the bags when we returned to the office. Had a really nice brunch date this morning at The Committed Pig. There was a bit of a wait because it was so packed and popular, but once we sat down the food came out almost immediately.
