Sundried tomato pesto omelette

The flavors of this omelette were so unique! Creamy melted goat cheese, sundried tomato pesto. Perfection! The toast was toasted perfectly. Would come back for sure!

Kids menu (12/2024)

Summit, NJ - A local friend recommended coming here for weekend brunch after we tried to meet up at the diner first and got booted because one of our party (me, guilty as charged) arrived late and the diner wouldn't hold the table for more than 5 minutes. (Note to self: leave time to find parking next time.) We are very glad we ended up here, as not only is the vibe more chill and relaxed, with roomy booths and tables, and family friendly, but the food and service were both excellent. I also appreciate that the kids menu offers a mini-er version of foods on the regular menu and not just basic junk like so many kids menus you encounter. Bathrooms are spacious and clean. I have been to the Morristown location as well where we ordered burgers - they use a Pat LaFrieda blend - and remember it also being very good.

Second time here! Good food, chill ambiance. The few times I have been here, I've seen big groups and families. I came for breakfast with my two siblings this time: the girls got the eggs + toast and fruit cup, while my brother had el fuego omelette and we ordered blueberry pancakes for the table. Everything was good and our server was very helpful but the service was a little slow- which I've seen other people complain about in their reviews.

Friendly staff , ambience was lively, and the food was fantastic! I always love the waffle fries here.

Cobb salad

Great food. I ordered the Cobb salad--the bacon was crispy and the lettuce, tomatoes, onion were very fresh. The service was friendly and welcoming.

I have been wanting to find time to go to this location for 2 years. I am an avid foodie and use to do a lot of work in Summit. I finally made it to The Committed Pig where we sat outside. We ordered spinach and artichoke dip. It comes with bread not chips. Which was tasty. I absolutely loved it. So did my friend that was accompanying me. We ordered the fish taco which we were shocked by the soft shell. However it was our fault for not asking first when I usually do because I don't like soft shell tacos. The taco was amazing though. The waitress was pleasant. I ordered a macaroni burger which came with sweet potato waffle fries. They do not do medium well burgers. Which is weird. The waitress said "either medium or well done" I said well my friend said medium. I don't like waffle fries so I sent them back and asked for regular fries. The burger wasn't seasoned and the macaroni was bland. The Corn pudding came with the tacos and I enjoyed that however my Friend didn't. She sent that back. Because we sent two things back the manager came out to ask if we are enjoying ourselves. We definitely were expect for the unseasoned un cooked burger. The meat was too red for me. We paid and left. In that hour commute home we both threw up everything we ate. I speculate it was the meat or the spinach's dip because you have to keep it refrigerated or it can spoil. I usually have my dip warm but it was cold also. Either way I never ever had an experience where I threw up all my food after eating from a restaurant like that. Something was contaminated. So I won't be back.

The Committed Pig is a very popular brunch spot in Summit. Part of a chain of 3 restaurants. They serve pancakes, waffles, eggs, burgers. These are what they are known for. They also have some other things. It is a small but varied menu and it is nice that they have gluten free buns and veggie burgers if you have people in your party who need that type of thing. I have been once before I came in the evening after work and had burgers with my friend. I think the burgers are excellent. I don't remember exactly which one I had. They only offer rare, medium, and well done which I respect because it's a pretty thin burger and I think those in between as are probably hard to hit. I had the regular fries which are skinny almost shoe string. I thought they were a little under, a little limp. This time my wife had the sweet potato waffle cut fries which I thought were much better. And I'm not generally a sweet potato fan. So this was lunch/ brunch with my wife and her family so I was able to at least sample a bunch of things. I ordered the chopped Cobb salad and asked for no ham (seems redundant. There's bacon which is essentially better tasting ham) and no cheddar jack cheese because 1. I think this is a weird Cobb salad addition. And 2. I asked for Bleu cheese dressing because a Cobb salad has Bleu cheese damn it. Is spelling it Bleu pretentious or just incorrect? Why not both. And I asked for the dressing on the side. So the fact that I found it a little dry, probably on me. Can't blame them for that. But I thought the grilled chicken was a little under seasoned, and a little dry and I don't know that more dressing would be the answer there. But good overall. My wife had the breakfast bowl she seemed to enjoy it. My mother in law had the fish taco special. They have a specials menu. I tried it. I thought the fish was a little fishy. And by fishy o don't mean made from fish. Obviously all fish is by the nature of being fish, fishy. But this was more so. And I do like fish. My sister in law had the Brie burger which looked amazing and she enjoyed it. Service was outstanding. Our waitress was a delight. It was busy but she made sure to tell us to take our time with the menus. My wife asked for almond milk for her iced coffee and she left room for the almond milk and I think that is a detail that is often overlooked. Came back to make sure everything was okay and she gave us time to try our food before asking which is also not always the case. It is a cute place they have outdoor seating. They have tin ceilings and wood plank walls. Like sort of aged looking wood? I can't remember what that's called. Vintage wood? That's not a thing. I took pictures. And I never take pictures. There is parking in the rear so that's nice in Summit. Overall a nice experience I am sure I will be back for burgers.

Fast, friendly service here in this bustling center of town. Not an extensive menu but enough variety to keep you coming back. Had the fried pickles and humus for starters. Both were good! Humus was a thick consistency with a garlicky taste and very good IMO; fried pickles are a favorite here! Our entrees were good as well. The salad was fresh and full of flavor and my cheese steak was a big portion with a nice balance of cheese, onions and peppers. Swapping out for sweet potato fries was a good idea too! Good location, good service, good food! Parking's challenging - only ding.

Decent spot. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but would consider it as an option if I was looking for a joint to eat in dt Summit. Burger was decent. I expected a little more from the PatLaFreida patty... actually didn't taste as flavorful as a shake shack one. My burger basically had 2 patties, some blue cheese and that was it, so seemed a little underwhelming. The waffle sweet potato fries were delicious, and portion was generous. They do have free parking in the back which is nice and convenient.

Steer herder burger with waffle fries

Pat Lafreida is an industry standard. It's a solid choice for a burger and this place uses their meat. The ambiance of the restaurant is chill and my burger was perfection. I came in toward the end of lunch so it was quiet and at 18 bucks for a burger and fries , it really wasn't a threat to my wallet. I'd come back and I'd tell anyone looking for a burger or a brunch spot to give it a try too ! Service was prompt and attentive.

This was my first time to this location I have been to the Morristown one a few times. The service was pretty good. We order about 3 ordered of hash browns because we didn't realized it came with only 2 and we were a table of 4 hangry adults and 1 8 year old. They were delicious. We also got an order of "pigges" which is French toast sticks. They were also very good we got them with the cinnamon butter. I got the cheeseburger and it's 2 patties and I got pickles and lettuce on it. It was so filling I couldn't even eat the fries. The place is a little small so any party bigger than 4 might have a wait. I really appreciated the bathroom sign too!

Anything I'm in the area I always stop here it's worth the wait!! They never disappoint with their Mac and cheese burger on sour dough bread!

Surprisingly good spot in summit for breakfast. The menu is limited but has all the staples of eggs, omelets, pancakes, crispy hash browns. If you want to go for lunch, burgers are where it's at. Service was quick despite being crowded on a Sunday morning. They also have a few tables for outdoor on a nice day.

We ordered Taylor, ham, egg, and cheese on a roll, two pancakes with scrambled eggs, and the front toast plate that came with eggs and sausage. Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a roll was standard and good. The French toast was tasty. The pancakes were very, very good. Definitely order these! The diner is no-frills. Dunkin. Or Dunkin Donuts as we used to call them has 13,000 locations. Boxwood has two. Very local. Very focused on ethical sourcing. Very cute inside. I happened to walk in this morning when the boxes were still in the counter so I guess the pastry is from Balthazar's but hey you could do a lot worse and if Balthazar is baking it every morning what's the difference? I had a pistachio cream croissant. They have a selection of pastry. Little chest of beverages. Very clean. Cozy. I ordered a cappuccino and honestly the only negative was it took forever.
