Went here for dinner on a Saturday night after seeing a video online of the owner sharing the restaurant's recent struggles to stay open. We're all about supporting local businesses, so we decided to try out their food. The employee warned us before we ordered that our food would be at least 35 minutes, which we appreciated knowing. I had the ladder 31 burger which had a delicious spicy sauce and chopped jalapenos. Sadly, they were out of ingredients for the s'mores milkshake, but the Oreo was a good alternative. I had heard great things about Urban Burger before, but after seeing the owner's TikTok regarding their financial concerns, I knew I had to come out and support, and I am so glad I did. It seems many others had the same idea; on a Saturday afternoon, the place was bustling and nearly every table was full. Despite the crowd, the staff was incredibly welcoming and suggested we scan the QR code for the full menu. We luckily snagged a table and didn't have to wait long for our food. I ordered the Biggie Smalls (their most popular burger), a classic burger with American cheese and fresh toppings. My mate had the namesake Urban Burger with Swiss and grilled onions. Both were fantastic! The patties are on the thinner side, so if you're extra hungry, I'd definitely recommend adding a second patty. However, the side of sriracha yucca fries with garlic aioli filled me up; they were perfectly crispy and a must-order for spice lovers. Met a group here as one of my friends wanted to support the establishment as they are struggling to stay open. I got there earlier than my group but was met with a very sweet employee who helped me tremendously. I ordered the impossible burger and sweet potato fries. I had jalapeños and grilled onions added. The burger was delicious, and quite messy which made it even more tasty. I hadn't had an impossible burger in a long while. The food is very good and owner very sweet. I had to leave early but my group said the owner stopped by their table and offered encouraging words of wisdom. This is the ultimate customer service. Pros- I really liked the decor and vibe inside. The cashier was extremely pleasant. The bathroom was huge and clean. We ordered the mild wings. They were crispy, as we like them, and great! I'd definitely get them again. Cons- the bathroom was out of paper towels- this should be refilled at the end of each day to prep for the next day and checked throughout the day. Ranch is a common condiment to accompany wings but they didn't have any. Although the fried pickles had a nice pickle to batter ratio, the batter had way too much pepper in it- they had more heat than the wings! Overall- good wings and establishment. I have been following Urban Burger on IG for quite awhile so me and my family decided to try after the owners IG post asking for people to come support his small business. Let me tell you im glad we did!!!!! Urban Burger is in the middle of Cranford NJ downtown just down the street from the train station. Its a small spot but has a good amount of table. The decor is dedicated to all things music. I noticed cool wall of old cassettes as an art installation. Also lots of pictures of artist hung around the restaurant. The menu is pretty full! I was surprised. They have lots of sides and wings. I came for the burger and it did not disappoint!!! I ordered the Biggie Smalls which came with pickes chopped onion and cheese. One of the best burgers ive had!!!! My kids had milkshakes and they loved them. The fries are fresh cut and delicious!! The evening we went the place was pretty busy with to go orders. We waited almost an hour dine in. The staff was very apologetic but we understood and wasnt in a rush. The food def made up for it because my family was very happy!!! I typically try to visit a place multiple times and try a few different things before I review, but I feel like I have to say something about this place. I've been looking for a new burger spot since Loaded Burgers in Garwood closed. I came because of the viral video, and I am all about supporting small businesses. So, I got a single patty with mushrooms and my partner got a Biggie burger (onions, pickles, etc). We both enjoyed what we got. I'm going to be honest here. The patties are very thin, similar to Burger King, but a lot less disappointing. The fries are really, really good. They taste like Five Guys fries with that potatoey-skin-left-on flavor, just a little thinner. Also, they were salted perfectly; I hate when fries have too much salt. I think the fry portions were good too. I see reviews on here complaining about the prices, but I think the prices are fine. Five Guys, Burger King, Smashburger, and McDonald's charge more, and their food quality and service has tanked significantly. I would rather give my money to Urban Burger. The eating area felt a little tight between tables, but all tables looked clean, especially for a place that serves fried foods. The servers were upkeeping and always checking if we needed anything. I asked for a little cup of water and got a large serving bottle for the table. Please note, I once went to a filthy Smashburger and they charged me for a cup of water, so this was a very nice and appreciated. I think it might be a little difficult for some to find a parking spot, but don't give up. It's worth it. One last thing, I want to suggest that the owner carry A-1 sauce or make an equivalent. That's not a complaint, I just wish I had it for my burger. read more

Time for an update as my last review was written over a decade ago! I ate here last week and met up with a friend. there's a nearby parking lot so you don't have to walk too far. You can scan the barcode and place the order with the front and they'll bring it out to you. I ordered the impossible burger with brie and fig jam. i took myself on a lunch date and decided to support a black-owned business in town. i think it's important now more than ever to support small businesses, especially those owned by families. i'm so glad i came here!! the girl who took my order and brought me my food was delightful. she was so kind and thoughtful, big smile on her face. the continental waffle burger was easily one of the best burgers i've ever eaten. very filling, couldn't quite finish it, but well worth it was $18. it came with double cheese patties, a fried egg, and taylor ham. the waffles were fluffy and sweet, they tasted homemade, you could tell a lot of effort went into their menu. i will definitely be back with friends or family. read more

This was my first time dining at Urban Burger and I absolutely loved the chicken sandwich. The focaccia bread gave a nice herbaceous touch to the sweet and savory chicken breast. My son and I shared the mozzarella sticks and corn poppers. They were a good snack. My son also had the mac and cheese. The service was quick. At first it doesn't look showy from the outside but when you go in the ambiance is really really nice. Very hip. Lots of decorations on the walls. Make sure to look for the old school cassettes on the wall. Ordered their specialty the "Urban Burger" service was quick waited probably a hood 15mins before my food came. I'd say 8/10 for the burger. It has a little spicy kick to it but overall good. 15mins for my food to come but took the waiter a good 20mins to take my order. He looked like he did t want to be there and he was just on his phone. It's all good it's just my observation and I'm very patient. 100 percent anyone else this dude would have gotten his shit torn or a customer just walking out. read more

He was very patient with grandma who asked him a thousand questions about the menu. I had the Biggie Small with Tarter Tots. The burger was cooked to perfection and the tots came with this delicious sauce on the side. My grandma ordered the Lincoln Continental and Pineapple in Bikini Bottom shake. Found this gem via local facebook group recommendation. I am not a burger or pizza person but I get cravings once in a blue moon and that was today. The ambiance is very cozy and chill. We were the only customer when we came around 6pm (Wednesday) so it was quiet and service was pretty quick. They do not sell regular soda products so prepare to drink water or buy the local soda they serve. I haven't verified if it was indeed a BYOB but my husband ended up buying a regular soda from the next door and the server did not complain. The food is 8.6/10 overall score. The mozzarella sticks is a must. The Urban burger was delicious. The bun was so huge though so it will definitely fill you in. The build your own burger was great. The truffle pecorino fries were ok.
