So I had it in my head that Boxwood Coffee was a big chain like Gregory's Coffee. Which in fact has only 50 or so locations. Which is still a chain. Starbucks has over 36,000 locations. Dunkin. Or Dunkin Donuts as we used to call them has 13,000 locations. Boxwood has two. Very local. Very focused on ethical sourcing. Very cute inside. I happened to walk in this morning when the boxes were still in the counter so I guess the pastry is from Balthazar's but hey you could do a lot worse and if Balthazar is baking it every morning what's the difference? I had a pistachio cream croissant. They have a selection of pastry. Little chest of beverages. Very clean. Cozy. I ordered a cappuccino and honestly the only negative was it took forever. Honestly so few people at 7 am and all of them were waiting for their order. 15 minutes? Maybe a little less. But not fast. Great cappuccino. I am buzzing from it. In a good way. I will definitely be going back. It had a little leaf drawn in the foam. Service was good. Just slow. Boxwood if you are reading this, and I don't see why you wouldn't as I am a Yelp elite and currently an All-Star and author of a very popular book (see my profile, no spoilers here). Boxwood I would do more to emphasize that you are local. I don't know what that would be but while cozy also fairly generic inside. Just my opinion.

Loved their pistachio macaroon and strawberry shortcake latte! They were both amazing! Service was friendly and helping when trying to decide what to order! Ambiance was very chill and perfect spot to do some remote/school work!

I was around this area today & decided to try boxwood coffee for the first time. Service was amazing, the lady at the counter was very sweet & very attentive as soon as I walked in. Ambiance was chill, you can sit there and do some work & study. I ordered an ice latte, with coconut milk. I wish I could've order a flavor with it but it slipped my mind. The latte was pretty decent, it was my fault for not ordering a flavor to it. But loved the coconut milk to it, tasted natural.

Right in the heart of downtown Summit, Boxwood Coffee is the kind of place that makes you want to become a regular. Upon walking in, it strikes a balance between cozy and modern, with a warm welcoming atmosphere. Love that they have pour over coffee here and freshly roasted beans for purchase. I normally order a regular coffee but when I saw the menu for their seasonal lattes and the Caramel Delite Girl Scout Cookie Latte was on there - I had to get it and I'm so glad I did because it was delicious. The staff is friendly and the service was quick. Highly recommend if you're in Summit and looking for a caffeine fix, or just want a spot to hang out, catch up with friends or even to do some work.

Nice ambiance in this coffee shop and we were there early in the morning and the staff was friendly and helpful. As a sucker for really good coffee, I opted for an expensive pour-over ($8 for a small) and the flavor of the coffee made evident the precision of the roasting done here but the coffee itself was relatively lukewarm warm which is a shame when you are expecting quality. My wife ordered a caramel iced latte with oat milk and she said it was good, but nothing memorable. Seems like it has some nice potential and would give it a shot again.

With a late afternoon flight out of Newark and nowhere to go until then to work, I decided to visit Boxwood Coffee for some food and a nice workspace at the recommendation of my friend who's a local. This place is incredible, the staff were all super friendly and helpful, the place is very tidy, with a nice quietly atmosphere perfect for working from, plenty of seating and outlets, and some delicious food and drink options. As a non-coffee drinker, sometimes coffee shops can be big flops for me, but they had a very nice tea menu so I decided to try some of their Hibiscus berry tea which was very refreshing, fruity, and floral. Additionally, I was hungry so got one of their beautiful baked goods - a banana chocolate chip muffin. Anyone who knows me, knows this is exactly the type of baked good I love and it checked off all the boxes. Such a delicious way to start my day. I stayed here for the whole morning while I drank, ate, and worked and it seemed that was pretty normal here. The place got pretty busy towards lunch time, but the staff never made me feel unwelcome. Great experience !

Cute little café in Summit. Coffee is really good, and the staff is friendly. Came here around 8:30 am on a Saturday for a quick bite and coffee while my car was in the shop. Quiet and cozy- perfect!

I especially liked the crispy chicken sandwich and will definitely be returning for it. It was simple but the chicken was crispy, the bread was fresh, and it was loaded with fresh veggies. The pastel was just okay for us, but we ate pastel snobs. It didn't really compare to the ones we had in Lisbon, but it is comparable to some of the better bakeries in Newark. The ambiance was also very cute. It's self-seat and casual, but that was perfect for our quick lunch stop. They also have a cute nook if you prefer some privacy.

We came right before closing, and even while they were winding down, the space felt clean, cozy, and welcoming. I ordered a small vanilla protein cold brew ($8) through the InKind app for easy pickup -- it hit the spot. It wasn't busy when we stopped in, but being right downtown, I can easily see this being a popular stop during peak hours. It's a great place for fueling up before hitting the local shops -- or recharging after. There are tables, chairs, and outlets available if you're planning to stay and get some work done, though we were just grabbing and going. We lucked out with street parking, but I imagine it depends on timing. Friendly staff, smooth ordering, and a cozy vibe. It's on the pricier side, but I'd still come back for another fuel-up.

My wife goes there fairly often; I, on the other hand, only go occasionally. Over the years, I had always been happy with the quality of the products they sell, but lately the pricing has gotten completely out of hand. We were there this past Saturday for breakfast. We shared a shakshuka and had two mocha coffees in the table area, and my wife also ordered a salmon toast. That was it. Somehow, this breakfast cost as much as four meals we had at an Israeli restaurant in NYC the very next day -- and, by the way, those meals were far superior to anything I've ever had at Liv. While at the NYC restaurant, we noticed they charge only $7 for fresh-squeezed orange juice -- in a larger portion than Liv's $12 glass of OJ. Their shakshuka is also only $16, compared with Liv's $22. And this place is in the heart of NYC, not in suburbia New Jersey. I also used to love getting Liv's cookies and croutons, but those have become expensive beyond reason as well. Two packs of cookies, one crouton, and a mocha coffee came to over $50. Seriously? At this point, it is clear to me that the owner's strategy is to keep raising prices to see how much he can get away with. Well, as far as I'm concerned, I'm done. I will no longer be patronizing this kind of price gouging.
