I ordered take out from this place in hopes of finding a new Colombian spot as I've been having issues with the ones I normally frequent. The food was okay although I'd say this restaurant has higher prices than I'm used to. It was still a good portion though and they package it nicely. Doubt I'd order from here again though. read more

Sabor De Mi Tierra - Bandeja paisa - Bakeries Near Me - Verona, New Jersey

We got food here and unfortunately our steak was dry and overcooked. We ordered the popular platter, which has a bunch of different kinds of food in it. Our favorite was the chicharron, which was juicy and flavorful. However, the most disappointing was the steak. It was super dry and we could barely cut it with a knife. We have tried here twice now and still had a bad experience with the steak quality, so we will probably pass on this in the future. Street parking only. read more

Authentic Colombian food here. Portions are huge! My hub and 2 kids shared the Bandeja Paisa. It has a combo of steak, chichiron, sausage, platonos, 2 eggs, avocado and rice. I had the fish and shrimp dish with garlic sauce. I chose yuca fries and salad as my side. Everything was delicious. Also get the guacamole and fried platonos as an appetizer. Service was very friendly and place had a welcoming feel. Will definitely return. read more

Tonight, I had the pleasure of dining with friends at Sabor De Mi Tierra in Verona, and it was a delightful journey to Colombia! The vibrant decor and lively Colombian music instantly set the mood. We started with the Mojarra Frita - a whole fried tilapia that was perfectly crisp and tender, paired with sweet plantains and Colombian sautéed potatoes. Next, the Asadito Tres Parceros was a highlight, featuring a trio of grilled meats that were simply mouthwatering. The Churrasco (16 oz skirt steak) was grilled to perfection, accompanied by white rice and fried cassava. To wash it all down, we enjoyed refreshing drinks like Limonada De Coco, a sweet coconut lemonade, and Aguapanela fria, a citrusy Colombian classic. The staff at Sabor De Mi Tierra were exceptional - warm, welcoming, and attentive, making our evening even more enjoyable. Although the meal was a tad on the pricier side, the quality of food and service made it worth every penny. As we left the restaurant with full bellies and happy hearts, I couldn't help but feel grateful for such a wonderful evening filled with good food and great company. If you're in the area, don't miss out on this gem of a restaurant. In my opinion you can never go wrong with Latin food. It's home and cozy and full of flavor. This meal did not disappoint. Flavor as expected was an explosion with each bite. Serving size is more then enough to take home for the next day. If you finish it in one sitting I won't judge! Please get the natural juices and if your stomach is sensitive ask for them in water it's usually made in milk. Our waitress was sweet and attentive they even brought a tray of plantain chips to start. I would return! Again and again. It is a little pricier but you get your moneys worth. read more

Disappointing, esp for the price & being so close we can't blame delivery too much. Salad was NOT fresh. 'Strange' smoky flavor to meats (BBQ?, Hickory?). Very chewy skirt steak. Small sides portions. Barely a handful of yuca. Overdone plantains. Bland potato. Side salsa & ketchup/mayo? No hot sauce. Not a great representation of the genre. Not going back unfort. read more

The food is amazing here!!!! The staff was so friendly and the plates were huge! The overall plate presentation was so beautiful. They added edible flowers to our dishes for presentation including the order of chicken tenders from the kids menus. Kids menus was great! The chocolate milk came in a cute cup with a little umbrella. Don't forget dessert! Pan de bono is a must! read more

"Sabor De Mi Tierra", I placed an order for a large bandeja paisa, a well-known Colombian dish, along with a plantains order. Upon receipt of the order, it became evident that the food was not only costly, but the tray was not adequately filled with food. The portions of all food items were notably small. For a cost of $30.00, you receive a small serving of food barely for 2 people. Four plantains are priced at $7.00, which is quite unusual. Plantains are typically inexpensive. Most Colombian restaurants provide a generous serving bandeja paisa for approximately $22-$25. I have photographs and additional images from other Colombian restaurants. I believe they need to increase their prices due to their location and the absence of Spanish restaurant competition. I am maintaining my preference for the small, local Colombian restaurant, as you receive more value for your money. The economic conditions are challenging, and high prices for restaurant food are not feasible. read more

Food was abundant and delicious. Service was welcoming and friendly, our waitress Elizabeth was very attentive and helpful. The restaurant had their formal room set up with white linens , lavender and white balloons and a welcome sign especially made for mother's day. The entrees were large servings. We were a party of 6 and we came home with 5 take home boxes!. The flavoring sazon was spot on. The owner greeted us at the doors and made us feel like VIPs. Didn't take pics because we put phones away :( highly recommend. Oh and read more

Went with my brother on a Monday night. Service was friendly and relaxed. I had guanabana con leche, and a platter of sausage, pork belly, ground meat, rice/beans and tostones. It was delicious and a very generous serving. My brother had salad, black cod, maduros and potatoes and also pronounced it delicious. He somehow had room for the cheesecake, which was light and refreshing. All in all, a lovely meal. I'll definitely be back. read more

This may be the best dining experience I have ever had from top to bottom. The waiter, Eduardo, was fantastic. We had an opportunity to meet the owner, Carlos, a gentleman who made us feel at home. We were here on a Friday and there was live music. The food. I had a coconut lemonade and it was the best lemonade I have ever had. My family and I ordered, fried fish, and El Paisa plate and it was so good. We also ordered Expresso shots, capuchino, and cheesecake. It was all do good. It I have eaten Colombian food previously and it is very delicious but this place is superior. read more

So I saw this place had 5 stars and almost 500 reviews on Google and I HAD to try it out. Although we just ordered salads, the shrimp and steak was perfectly cooked! One of the mini arepas was a bit too hard to eat, but oh my god, how flavorful that stew side was! My friend lives 5 minutes away and couldn't believe how she has never been here before. She said she'll be coming weekly now! Can't wait to come back and try more too! read more

It is nice to have an authentic Latin American place so far east. I'm sure the Verona residents are happy! Coming from Morris County, near the stronghold of Dover, I am a bit biased but I will say for Sabor: They would hold their own out here. Not quite 5 stars, but tasty and satisfying. We did takeout, so my review is a bit limited. I didn't order all that much for myself but my family all together got plenty of variety, most of which I sampled. Flavors are good, portions are good, but prices are a bit high compared to what you would spend out here. The meat dishes weren't super piled with meat like one would hope. The arroz con pollo was shredded chicken mixed in with the rice instead of separate pieces/quarters, which is not something I've seen before and hope not to see again. My sister's seafood dish was lovely but a bit sparse for the price point. For now, my verdict: 3.5 stars, round up to 4 for location and comparison to anything else nearby (more expensive in Montclair, less authentic elsewhere in Essex County), but given the options I have out here I'm not planning to go back, even to try in-person. read more

If you are hungry for some yummy yummy meat sweats and want a GENEROUS portion of food and sides look no further than this place. The pork with the cream sauce and mushrooms is my comfort food of choice. They're all about flavor flavor flavor. Rice is perfection. Beans shame all other beans. The plantains best I've had. Show them some love. The takeout literally comes in huge trays for one portion. Don't let price scare you off. Two people can easily share one order. But we get one pp anyway for leftovers. read more

Came for an impromptu lunch with my husband while grocery shopping. This was a wonderful locally owned restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent! Fun place, I love the music!! My favorite part of Colombian cuisine is the baked goods. Their beef empanadas are yum (make sure you ask for ahi) and the pan de queso (fresh out of then oven) so cheesy and delish. Last time I went, we had chorizo and chicharron as well ad the guacamole and tostones appetizer. Very very good read more

What a great place. Between the appetizers and the meal there must have been a dozen items and every one was excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The portions are generous. The prices are fair. It's a casual place with an upscale level product read more

Everything I've eaten here is delicious. I am Colombian so I know good Colombian food when I eat it. Sabor De Mi Tierra has THE BEST empanadas and pan de bono of any Colombian restaurant in Hudson and Essex County, hands down. Way better and tastier than the famous Noches De Colombia in Montclair. Everyone is very attentive especially Edward, the Manager, who always makes sure we have a pleasant experience. Great ambiance in the weekend evenings when there's always live entertainment. Stop by and give it a try, you won't be disappointed, oh and make sure to have the empanadas with their yummy hot sauce, I literally put this on everything :) read more
