We came to this hole in the wall Peruvian restaurant for some weekday lunch, and it's such a value meal! The portions are huge, and the waitstaff were so sweet and sat down to tell us what foods they would recommend. They had a lunch special which wasn't on their menu, but for that day it was fried chicken with peanut sauce and rice (pictured) with chicken soup, or chicken chaufa with chicken soup. - Fried Chicken lunch special: 3/5, nothing to write home about but a GIANT quarter hunk of chicken perfectly seasoned - Green pasta with fried fish: 5/5, SO delicious... I've had green pasta many times at other Peruvian places and this one tastes way creamier and the basil sauce blends so nicely... even the fish was so perfectly fried and they gave us the best hot sauce on the side - Chicken soup: 5/5, had a chunk of chicken or two with potatoes and the soup was sooo savory Highly recommend! I decided to try this Peruvian restaurant again after 6 years to see if the food had improved, well... my husband tried the ceviche and tallarín saltado de res which was fairly good; however the papa a la huancaina sauce and the ají de gallina sauce tasted premade (bought in the supermarket/carton). If the chef is cutting corners he/she should kick it up a notch by adding natural aji amarillo to the pre made sauces. Anyway, the chef should make the sauces from scratch! As much as I want to keep this place a secret, I must share this amazing place with everyone because I don't want them to ever go out of business! I'd be really sad if they do. I found out about this place because of my friend (who happens to be Peruvian lol and goes here frequently with her family) introduced me to this place. I've been here a few times since with my Peruvian friends and we all love it. The food is very authentic and it is definitely one of my favorite Peruvian restaurants in the area. Prices are very reasonable and the food is always on point! I highly recommend the Ceviche, Antichuchos (Beef heart), Lomo Saltado, Tallarín Saltado de Carne, Papa a la Huancaina, and the Tallarines Verdes with steak. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. If you want a Peruvian non-alcoholic beverage, try Inca Cola (I personally think this tastes like bubble gum) or the purple corn drink. I usually prefer going with the purple corn drink, especially when it's homemade. You don't come here for the ambiance but the service is good and the staff is very friendly. Every time that I've ate here, it's almost always empty - probably two other tables max, but I do come at an off time (usually a late dinner). I never came on a weekend, but it's probably much busier. This place is also BYOB which is always a plus. No parking lot here, you will have to park on the street. Can't wait to come back! read more

Our Friday Lunch Crew decided to visit this great little Peruvian Restaurant in Dover which we had heard very good things about. On our arrival we were warmly greeted by our manager/server who gave us our choice of several seats. We chose a nice, bright, comfortable table by the outside window. The restaurant was clean and well lighted and the ambiance was simple but had a nice vibe to it, with various Peruvian artifacts and pictures on display. It was clearly a local, neighborhood type restaurant which was nice. We weren't sure of all the menu selections and our waitress patiently and happily helped us out with what amounted to a series of questions. We started out with some shared Yuca a La Huancaina and shrimp Ceviche for starters and both were excellent. I had the Lomo Saltado with Beef for an entree (Stir fried beef, red onions, tomatoes, cilantro, soy sauce and french fries served with white rice) while a couple of others had the same with chicken and/or mixed. It was a nice size serving and it was delicious. Everyone at the table agreed. Did I mention that this is a BYOB. We finished with a very tasty Flan and coffee. All in all, we had a great time and enjoyed some great food. What else could you ask for? The prices were also reasonable. We were looking for a good Peruvian place in Morris County and we scored big with this place. The Peruvian drinks available here were a treat. Inka Cola (loved by dad and son) tastes like bubble gum like it always has. The blue corn juice made in house (loved by mom and dad) was a special treat that tasted like juice with cinimon in it. We were impressed with all of the food that we ordered. The lomo saltado was delicious with the tender meats, crisp fries, and deliciously savory sauce. We asked for a side of hot sauce and got something that uped the awesome factor to over 9000! The pollo milenesa was juicy well breaded and went great with the rice and fries that it came with. The TV was set to sports like soccer and olympics. Everyone seemed to be enthralled with it not because it was obtrusive but because there were some real sports fans in the house. We were a little nervous when we first walked in. It was empty at 7:00 on a Friday night. But our fears were laid to rest when we got our first course, the beef soup with cabbage, carrots and rice. It was beefy, flavorful and delicious. For the main entree, we opted for the fried seafood. The seafood plate was enormous! Piled high with crispy fried calamari, with lots of legs (my favorite), fried shrimp, fried fish and fried yucca. The fish was my least favorite. It tasted a little muddy. My husband and I had the yuca a la huancaina (sp?) as an appetizer, the lomo saltado as the main meal (I had the mixed plate, husband had all beef), and for dessert we had the tres leches and leche asada. I also ordered chicha morada and it was a little sweet to my taste so I added some water. It was delicious! The server also said they make it there which is better than the one that comes in a can. The yuca a la huancaina was sooooo good! You can tell it was made there instead of from a can or store bought. It was my husband's first time having it and he really like it as well. I was afraid to order the lomo saltado because most places buy really cheap meat and you ended up with a plate full of chewy meat, but this was not the case here. My husband said he only taste like two pieces that weren't very tender but overall it was great. The rice has garlic, which I like very much but if you're not into garlic it may not be your thing. We both ate the whole meal! The tres leches was pretty decent; moist and with milk at the bottom, the frosting was light and sweet, the leche asada was very similar to eating custard with the top burned up a little, very tasty if you're into custard like I am. I wish we lived closer to this place because it would definitely be our spot to come eat for date night. Don't let the humble appearance of the place fool you, their food is better than fancier Latino restaurants we have gone to! The staff is nice and work quickly to bring you your food. I usually drive to my favorite Peruvian restaurant in Passaic when I'm craving Peruvian food, but this day, I wanted to try somewhere closer to home. Las Tres Marias has a good asking of seating. The restaurant feels both home-ey and clean. My staple I decided to use as my bar was Beef Chaufa. In comparison to my favorite place in Passaic, the rice was either not the best kind or not cooked long enough and the meat used was either not as tender our not as good of a cut, but was still considerably tasty. The service was very friendly. Although I much prefer my favorite in Passaic, Las Tres Marias is not a bad alternative when I'm craving Peruvian food and don't want to drive as far. read more

So it was actually my sister that found out about this restaurant and, for once, I have to give her credit where credit is due! And I'm writing this review cause I hope more people will give it a shot even though Dover is not everyone's favorite destination. It was a spacious, bright eating area, not so formal as other places but that's perfectly ok. To someone not familiar with Peruvian food the menu was a bit intimidating but the waitress was very nice in helping us pick out something that we would enjoy. About that food, portions were huge for the price that you pay. I got the fried tilapia combo, that fish was clearly fileted and fried at the time of the order, it was a delicious light breading and really fresh. My GF got what we essentially call Peruvian fried rice which was well seasoned with some great spices and tender pieces of beef. My sister had a beef/onion stir fry type of dish, again with great flavor and pieces of meat that almost melted in your mouth. And finally my sister's BF got the chicken and rice, which was basically half a chicken cooked very tender and rice/pesto mixture below. Everything was great, and the leftovers were still great the next day. Even though we were rather clueless about the cuisine we still felt very welcomed and that they appreciated us being there. Definitely will be back again some time! One more thing, no matter what you get, make sure you have some of their homemade sauce to go with it, I'd love to buy bottles of it! The only issue there is parking but you can't blame them for that. That's just Dover, expect to spend some time finding a spot on the street and walking a bit. read more

I came here with a couple of friends for the first time coming back from sussex NJ after skydiving. The 3 of us had arroz chaufa which was fresh and delicious. we also ordered papa a la huancaina for appetizer and the sauce was still hot, am not sure thats the way its supposed to be, but I am used to eating it similar to a salad. service is very slow, and they bring one plate at a time, and by that I mean 5-10 mins apart.
