From the moment you walk in establishment you're greeted with smiles and lovely words. Extremely attentive, we had a bottle of wine & Prosecco and they took it from us to set it up at the table, to keep chill. It's a BYOB. The decor is a vibe and sets the ambiance. The atmosphere is relaxing with an easy flow of music. The waiters are so attentive, helpful & knowledgeable on the selection of food, they are very accommodating with any substitution of food. They are constantly checking up on you and refilling your beverages. The food was delicious, tons of flavor, the portions were very generous (great to share) one dish. Overall this place is highly recommended if you're looking for good Peruvian food. They have a parking lot right next to the location. read more

Came here for dinner on a Saturday with some friends! Parking was difficult to find - beware that the parking lot behind the restaurant requires a permit. We had to find parking on the street. Once we got seated, we were amazed by how extensive the menu is. There are so many options but luckily the menu had several pictures to show what the restaurant was offering. The waiters are very friendly and also provided great recommendations but do note that not all of them speak perfect English! I ordered the Maravillas Del Mar which included fried seafood and ceviche. The ceviche was just okay but the fried calamari and seafood were good! I would just say that it's too much for one person! I brought most of it home. My bf ordered the Colombian breakfast and he really enjoyed it! Some of the meats were a little dry but overall it was a pretty nutritious and tasty meal. Most importantly, we thought this restaurant was such good value for how much food we are getting! We would definitely come back if we are in the area again! Worth checking out! read more

Be careful!!! I wasn't going to right this review because the food is good but this is the 3rd time they purposely overcharged us. I'm taking about $40 and more. They change the price of the food. I made them fix it every time. But come on....this has to stop. read more

Absolutely loved this place! The authenticity of the food and the diverse menu are standout features. Although the venue is small, it's surprisingly abundant in flavors. The portions here are massive - it's like getting a feast for a very reasonable price. I recently had a meal in New York that cost twice as much but was half the portion size; this place is a steal in comparison. While they don't do delivery, the food is so good that a quick pick-up is well worth it. The value for the quality and quantity of food is unbeatable. Punto Peruano truly delivers on taste and value. Just a tip: bring a box because the portions are so generous that you'll have enough for another satisfying meal the next day. read more

Amazing service. Was quite busy on a saturday night yet they were able to accommodate us right away without a reservation (i do recommend making a reservation). It is byob, they put our drinks on ice and were constantly refilling our glasses throughout the night. The food was amazing. We got the tbone steak, seafood over yellow rice, and the seafood pasta. Portions are huge so we definetly over ordered. One of the best Peruvian resteraunts ive been to in central jersey. Definetly recommend for a date night or family dinner!! read more

I took a 30min ride trying to get the Chaufa rice craving fulfilled. Unfortunately it wasn't. The place is not in sick a good area. It does have parking and it is cute inside/ clean. But the rice was not cooked correctly and was hard. Totally disappointed. Wasted my time and money $$$ read more

Boo Boo, the Brofessor in law, and I came here for dinner after looking at furniture. We were really hungry because our waitress told us that we had to move to a bigger table when our food comes out. It really helps if you know Spanish but I think pointing at the pictured menu would work too. I'm not fluent but I know more Spanish than the average Chinaman. If you're not sure what they are saying just nod and say 'claro que si' and hope for the best. We ordered and shared the bandeja paisa (mixed meat with rice), the Jalea (fried seafood combo), the grilled ribs platter. We also order side of fried yucca and fried sweet plaintains. As a true Peruvian I drank a chicha. Give it a try. At least get the Inca cola if you're not adventurous. If you're in the mood for legit Peruvian/Colombian food come here or go to Elizabeth. There's a void in the xXxwoods, Scotch Plains area. Cc accepted. read more

We have ordered from there many times and even been there to eat and never had a problem. Yesterday we ordered take out and as I was having my salad I felt " something" in my mouth, like a stone, and it was an olive pit !! Not the olive but an olive pit itself !!! I spit all the bite and I just felt sick and we all stop eating and through everything out. Very disappointed!!. Quality has changed since they became more busy but this is unacceptable to any restaurant. We are not looking for any type of credit or anything. This was such a disgusting experience and who knows if someone else have had the same experience. After this, you have lost two clients and we will be warning people about it. Maybe for the owner losing two clients is nothing but trust me, foe a business is never good to have such a bad review. read more

I would have given the place a 4 if the server wasn't so slow. When we got there we sat for like 15min and waited for someone to help us. And the wait for the food was a bit longer then what I expected. But I didn't complain about the long wait for the food because the food was delicious. My father had eaten here before and he said that that food was okay. I thought the food was delicious. I had ordered the half chicken with fries and salad. The chicken was really delicious and it was seasoned so perfectly. My father had ordered the Peruvian style spaghetti and that was delicious too. THE PORTIONS WERE HUGE! I loved it! So much food that my father took a lot of it home. To take food home is always a good thing for me. I would definitely order here for take-out not so much to eat in if I was desperate and hungry. read more

Excellent food and service. They bring a flavored water with fresh fruit. Should be bottled and sold.

This was my first time here and it definitely will not be my last . I was impressed by this ambience of this place. It is well kept by the staff. They take pride in keeping it nice. I will say though I do recommend coming with someone who's speaks Spanish we had a little difficulty until my brother got there but we managed. Food wise amazing !! Everything was full of flavor and Omg the portions are huge . Almost everyone had a steak dish of some type minus a few of us. The ceviche was delicious and the fried Calamari was so good and those little side dipping dishes they give pack a punch of flavor. I ordered a fish dishes ( red snapper) steamed in a flavorful sauce with calamari and shrimp. My sister got Peruvian fried rice and another specialty dish they make . All I can say is that I will definitely be coming back here. read more

My husband and I stopped in here after a meeting in Plainfield. I'm so glad we did! We arrived at 1:40 and the place was hopping. Lots of people were having lunch. It's a great-looking place with new tile everywhere. Everything was spotless and there were plenty of people on staff. We were shown to a table and we were asked if we preferred English or Spanish. Awesome! My husband speaks Spanish so we went with Spanish. We were told that there was a 9.00 lunch special or we could order off the main menu. Lunch included a bowl of soup and since it was kind of cold & overcast, we both went for the lunch special. My husband explained my shrimp allergy since so much that was offered contained shrimp. The waiter explained that there was a beef soup as well as the seafood soup and he'd bring me the beef. We both chose the same lunch - whole red snapper, which was served with rice, beans and sweet plantains. I asked for water and received the prettiest glass of water ever, with orange, lime, strawberries, and blueberries in it. Very refreshing! I have to say, my soup was fantastic! I thought it was right up there with one of the best soups I'd ever ordered. My husband loved the seafood soup, too. My soup had plenty of beef, the broth was delicious and it was a meal in itself. The red snapper was tasty. Fried, flaky, delicious and there was way too much food for a single lunch. The beans & rice were great. We were way too full for dessert, but we're both looking forward to our next meeting in Plainfield so that we can stop in again. Service was above and beyond. Give this place a try! read more

Food, service, and attention is always excellent! Been here many, many times and never disappointed.

Food was terrible. Definitely not an authentic Peruvian restaurant, service was also bad, and the restaurant environment was cold and dirty. As a Peruvian myself, the food was awful in every single way, and I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

This is a delicious spot for food, but I have a huge downfall about here. The prices on drinks are ridiculous! I asked for a pineapple juice which cost 16$!!! My meal which I'm ordering is 13$. Food is great, but be reasonable with drink price. This is my 3rd time here. The service is worse. It took me 25min to get the check after our plates were clearly done. The food was exceptional! We ordered for take out but the ambiance of the restaurant is very nice and romantic and definitely a hole in the wall that surprises you when you enter. We had a large order that included the seafood soup, the Lomo salatado, sweet and salty fried plantains, and the seafood chaufa... everything was EXCELLENT. I will say though that the salsa was super super salty to the point of being inedible. Also, the take out container for the soup was handed to us with a lid that was obviously wrong for it, so we had a bit of a spill... otherwise, I enjoyed the food. The passion fruit juice was tasty and the complimentary hibiscus juice (I think that's what it was) was also super tasty! Definitely recommend! read more

We had a party of 8 last night and had a great time. The service was exceptional, beyond exceptional. Plates were removed quickly, food came out quickly and glasses always full. Absolutely fantastic. Read the reviews and decided to check it out myself. Did not disappoint. Beautiful restaurant, great service, and very reasonable prices. We had the steak and a seafood dish. Both were delicious. If you end up there, please order yourself at least a glass if not a pitcher of the drink they have (I completely forgot the name) that is a mix between Sangria and Sorrel. One of the best beverages I've had in a long time. Excellent local gem. read more

Great dinner tonight! Food and service were very, very good; place beautifully decorated, and also clean, especially the bathrooms. What we had: Churrasco: Skirt steak served with white rice and fries and a small side salad with avocado - very tasty and nicely marinated. Arroz Chaufa Shrimp: Fried rice with egg, shrimp, and langostine - Hands down one of the BEST rice dishes I have ever had! The rice grains were large and fluffy and perfectly cooked, there were bits of tomatoes and peppers and onions and whatever sauce they used made this really tasty. The shrimp was plentiful and large and plump. They were not dry at all. Bandeja de Paisa: bistek, chorizo, chicharron, 2 fried eggs, plantains, beans, white rice - All very good, but I think the best was the chicharron. It was crunchy but also the fat was not chewy or over done. I felt these were perfectly cooked. They reminded me of a delicious pork chop that had been cooked on a grill. The plantains were nicely cooked, soft, and the right kind of ripe. They were good and sweet. We also had the banana and strawberry shakes, both tasted like they used real fruit. If you love banana like me, then you will really enjoy the banana shake the best. Our servers were pleasant and the place was beautiful. I did not expect such a nice looking place in Plainfield! They were also very clean and were good at keeping our table clean without being intrusive. I hope this place does well! If they continue to give out service like we had tonight, then I'm sure they will. By the way, this was my birthday dinner, so we celebrated by trying out a new spot. We are glad we came here and would return again. ;) read more
