How this place has good reviews is beyond me. I sat myself when came in, then no "Bienvenida, Que se le ofrece". I asked about any lunch specials and the waitress said they didn't have any which I found very strange. I said no worries and ordered 2 pupusas and a canned soda. Pupusas were dry on the outside and mushy on the inside, not cheesy but mushy almost watery. I love pupusas and order them regularly, but left half of one uneaten. Also The waitress never once came to check up on me. Still left her a cash tip on a $10 bill and no "thank you, no ay muchas gracias, no que tenga buen dia"..nada de nada. I'm Latina and love eating at mom and pop places because the wait staff are warm and the ambiance feels like home to me. This restaurant does have a lot of bible verses on the walls maybe they should have focused on improving customer service and less on arts and crafts. Oh well, it was a miss for me. read more

BEST PUPUSAS IN ALL CENTRAL JERSEY! I've been eating pupusas for MANY years now however whenever I'm craving some this is my family's go to spot always! My all time favorite dish to order here is the pupusas revueltas and they make it perfectly. It's never too oily and it's always made fresh everytime. I usually order to go and the service is always super quick which I appreciate. As far as the ambiance, the place is nicely decorated and the staff is always kind everytime I go or my family goes. Finally got a chance to try the infamous chicken and mushroom over rice.. so freaking good. The sauce takes it to another level. $18 for a huge dish that you prob can split into two sittings. Unfortunately we will not be back at one of our favorite places to eat as we as this kid to lower the volume in the tv in the back wall as it was so loud the me and my girlfriend started getting a headache , we ask if he could lower the volume he gave us a dirty look and did NOTHING. All he did was watch tv and his phone we got no service at all ,also an other couple ask for the check it took so long that they didn't get it until the complaint. In an hour we went to El Savador and back. Yes we stuck out like sore thumbs. Yes everyone was staring at us, waitresses and other guests. They all took pride in their food. We didn't really have to put out a show, we truly enjoyed our food. After seeing some of the slow service comment, I made sure to check on our orders. People were going in and out constantly with huge take out bags. The dining room was full by around 8pm. Ask for the coleslaw etc - she warned me it was spicy but I loved them! The pupusas came out nice and warm. I reminds me a lot of the Chinese pancakes but with cheese inside. The seafood soup came out piping hot. So good and comforting for a winter day. The carne asada was the highlight - the steak was seasoned just right, rice is seasoned and cooked perfectly. The whole dish just works. I also got the breakfast sandwich which basically is the carne asada inside a pancake. Will be superb for breakfast. We are coming back so you better get used to seeing us. Oh by the way it is BYOB though you have to drink from a paper cup so bring your glasses too :) and private parking lot at the back. read more

Drove by this place plenty of times and finally read the reviews and decided to stop by. Had the mushroom chicken everyone spoke of and it was amazing. It was light, flavorful and the salad was awesome. It wasn't spicy even a bit so next time I wouldn't mind adding some hot sauce. The restaurant is small but clean. Cool place. Stopped in for a quick bite before noon and got some great service. Great tip on the steak tacos and the rice flour Pupusa with "everything"...I go to 100s of South American and Central American restaurants all over the country, for my job...And El Creador has the best tacos I've eaten to date and the Pupusas are close! Steak in the tacos is perfectly (really perfectly) seasoned steak coupled with the freshness of the ripe avocado slice, cilantro and onions along with the double warm corn tortillas...It was outstanding! I ordered 2 Pupusas (one corn and one rice)...the corn Pupusa had beans and cheese and was softer than most Pupusas I've had, not overpowering Nixtamal flavor, the fillings stood out and the curtido paired beautifully with it and definitely the extra fermented spicy jar of spicy veggies along with their fresh salsa. Very good Pupusa but the Rice one is better! Right away the crunchy texture it has that I would compare to the delicious crispy rice on the bottom of the rice pan after you finish cooking it...this is complimented beautifully again with the filling- this time adding pork to the beans and cheese. The curtido and fermented spicy veggies again were beautiful with this Pupusa in a way that words could do no justice. This establishment has a lot of competition alone on the stretch of Park Ave, and the quality holds up! Amazing pupusas. Get their shrimp pupusas if you are a seafood fan! Their entree dishes, coupled with their portion size, may overwhelm you. I'm a fan of their chicken with mushroom sauce, but their breakfast varieties are great. I am very surprised why this place has so many less reviews. Moved in this area a week back and had to try this place out for it being different. Beef soft tacos - average. Fresh ingredients but meat could be tender. Pupusas - this being my first time, I do not have anything to compare with. However, these were amazing. The sauce, incredibly flavorful and added a layer to the taste. A must try. Do not do take out. Sit and eat there. Use the hot sauce in the table to add soccer. Chicken in mushroom sauce - very good. Huge portion. There is no way it is got one serving. Amazing sauce, tender chicken and fresh salad. You will not go wrong with this one. I wish I knew Spanish. However, they were really helpful. This is one of the best Latin America restaurant we've ever been to. Not to mention the prices are also quite cheap. On the two different occasions that we were there, we tried tacos, pupusas with different fillings, baleadas, sweet tamales, chicken tamales and chicken soup and all of these were very good. Food here is absolutely nothing but amazing!! The chicken with mushroom sauce is just ridiculous. (grilled chicken topped in creamy mushroom sauce, with a side of rice, pico de gallo, and slices of fresh avocado. and this easily feeds 2 people) The papusas are great too. they're loaded with cheese and when breaking them apart, all the melted cheese just oozes out. I've also tried the seafood pasta, ceviche, steak & mushroom, and every time it's been great. All food here is fresh and made to order. The portions are also large and the service is always on point. This place does not speak english!!! Even though there is a language barrier, nothing can stop me from getting some good papusas. I drove past a few times finally stopped in and just knew this little hole in the wall restaurant would be good. Ordered papusas (regular with cheese), papusa mix (beans n meat n cheese) and papusas with beef. My favorite is the mix or the cheese one, so good with the sauce and the vegetables on top. Friggin awesome and the price is so cheap, I would recommend ordering ahead of time and picking it up cause they take for ever but that is because everything is made to order. Maurisco Sopa (Seafood food) is amazing, i have no idea....NO IDEA what the heck is in it but god save me cause it is phenominal!!!! All were delicious, but (for me) the showstopper was the mushroom and chicken entre. If you like mushrooms, definitely get this! It's super flavorful. Ordered wine clam linguini, fajita mix, and pupasa. Very large portions at low prices but the taste wasn't up to par. The fajitas weren't seasoned properly and relied on the hot sauce to carry it's taste. The linguini wasn't very good and was over saturated with sauce. The Avena was really good though and tasted different from the American oatmeal. They also don't serve water unless you're willing to pay a dollar per bottle water. read more

This place is awesome. I've been before for the pupusa's and they're so delicious (my favorite is the Lorroco, so so so good). My friend and I took a lovely walk in the sunshine yesterday to La Fonda and the food was out of this world. I had the Pechuga con salsa de Hongos, which is thin chicken cutlets in an insanely delicious creamy, dreamy mushroom sauce, served with rice and salad with avocado. COME HERE AND GET THIS DISH!!
