    Chile Relleno con Flautas Combo

Great Mexican food with a friendly vibe. This place is my number one go-to for Mexican food in the area. My favorite entree is the carne asada burrito- it's huge and full of flavor. I love the chips and red salsa is pretty spicy. They also have a more mild green salsa. I recently tried the chile relleno/flauta plate and it was pretty good too. They don't serve alcohol but it's BYOB. They also have a huge selection of different desserts at the front counter if you want to order one after dinner or bring one home for later. It's sometimes difficult to find street parking but there's a free parking lot around the corner towards the police station.

I decided to try this place because my go to Mexican restaurant was closed. I got the carne mole enchiladas. I enjoyed my meal, the flavor of the mole was really tasty. I would order from here again.

One of my favorites Mexican restaurants in the area. Service is espectacular. Average entree costs $19.95 due to covid and inflation, but worth it. They also have a variety of traditional beverages. Deff recommend stopping by. Uno de mis restaurantes mexicanos favoritos en la zona. El servicio es espectacular. El plato principal promedio cuesta $19.95 debido al covid y la inflación, pero vale la pena. También tienen una variedad de bebidas tradicionales. Restaurante recomendado.

Update - June 1, 2019 We're here for late lunch on a Saturday. My wife ordered Lengua and I ordered carne asada. The beef lengua is hard, not like before that was soft, it melts in your mouth. Carne Asada is the same as before, much less in serving. Entree servings are much less and their menu prices went up. I took out one star from my rating due to the changes this restaurant made.

    Tacos 2.50 each !

I have been hearing great things about Mis Amigos for a while now. Its only 5 min from my house I'm not sure why I didn't try it out sooner. There is street parking right in front of the restaurant but you have to pay the meter. (It only takes quarters, one quarter gives you one hour) There is nice outdoor seating in front of the restaurant unfortunately it was a little hot out so I chose to sit inside. The restaurant has a nice Mexican decor which gives it a homey feel. They were quick to seat me and bring me fresh tortilla chips with two salsas to choose from. My favorite by far was the dark green salsa which my server told me didn't have a name. She said it was made with jalapeños and tomato's & that was enough of a name for me. To eat I ordered 3 tacos which are only 2.50 each!! I ordered two chicken tacos and one chorizo. All of the tacos come with onions and cilantro. I saw on yelp that the fries were delicious so I ordered a small side of fries. Everything was absolutely delicious !! I loved the chorizo taco the most. Both the chicken and chorizo were seasoned to perfection ! The fries were tasty. Not too salty & had a little crunch to them! I can't wait to go back to Mis Amigos! This will definitely be my go to lunch spot from now on.

My co-workers made it out to Mis Amigos in Dunellen the other day, and they wowed me! I never am completely decided on what to order, mainly because everything on the table looks so good. I wasn't about to impose and take pics of my friends' meals, but everything came out great. On the order: Mexican beef dish, a quesadilla, a fajita, 3 massive burritos, and I got an mixed order of tacos and a side of jalapeño asado. The Mexican beef (res mexicana) looked really interesting; I'll have to try it. The fajita caught my attention and it's been a while since I've ordered one. The quesadilla is probably good for a mild appetite and the burritos looked like a healthy size. My tacos were great, and I highly recommend the lengua! I got the idea for the jalapeño by someone else at the table who's a bit more experienced than I at Mis Amigos... The jalapeño is cooked over a flame just enough to char the outer skin and soften the meat. It was hot enough to make me sweat a bead, and it was oh so good! It's officially going to be a staple item for me. Thanks for the hospitality, Mis Amigos. Hasta pronto!

The restaurant serves delicious, fresh food in a very homey atmosphere. The servers are kind, attentive, and so helpful; from time to time, you might even be served by Pancho himself, who is an absolute gem! We started with the guacamole and chips, followed by the nachos, where you can customize them with your choice of meat. For our entrees, we ordered the Huaraches with steak, which is a large, handmade, slightly fried tortilla topped with beans, onions, lettuce, crema, and cheese. We also got the Tacos, which come five to an order. You can choose up to two meats, but we stuck with the classic Al Pastor. The meat was so tender and flavorful, served with the traditional onion, cilantro, and lime on the side. Finally, and my personal favorite, we had the Picaditas. Like the tacos, you can choose two meats, so we went with Al Pastor and steak. Similar to the Huaraches, these are four smaller, slightly fried homemade tortillas with green and red sauce on the bottom, topped with lettuce, onion, and cheese! To wash everything down, we had the homemade Agua de Jamaica (hibiscus tea), though their Horchata is also delicious. Overall, this is one of my favorite spots; it reminds me of my childhood, and the food is just as good as what you'd find in Mexico. If you're looking for an authentic experience, this is it!

This unassuming gem is so great, and seems to thrive on takeout orders, leaving the dining room virtually empty (yay us!) We had an assortment of dishes to get a feel of what this place was good at and to no surprise: they aced every single one. The fish tacos, though they looked plain, were so flavorful and crispy and we couldn't get enough. The other types of tacos were also packed with flavor and so incredibly addicting. We also shared nachos as an appetizer and to our surprise, the chips were fresh and the nachos were topped with tender pieces of steak. It's hard to find a good pozole, and this one was filled with meat and honestly could have served as two meals with how much was given to us. This just might have to be our new go-to Mexican spot - it seems like my days of taco trucks are over since I can get some amazing tacos here!

Our waiter (very friendly brazilian guy) was top notch from start to end, always on top of the table (party of 4) to make sure we were good with drinks, that food was good and up to standards and nothing was missing, and always with a smile and a positive attitude. We had queso fundido and guac to start which was pretty addictive (we had 2 baskets of chips). After we had fajitas, chicken quesadillas and beef enchiladas. We all ate and still were able to take some home. Very flavorful and seasoned food, great portions and very price friendly. We sat at the bar, ordered way too much for two people, and enjoyed every bit of it. The empanadas, which are clearly a crowd favorite, absolutely delivered, and I loved that there were vegetarian options not just for those but across the menu more broadly. That made a big difference. Yes, it's crowded, and yes, you should think about reserving before you go, but the wait is worth it. The staff was also really helpful and kept things moving despite how packed the place was. If you're in Iselin, Jose Tejas is an easy recommendation.

Service was excellent, and that honestly stood out as one of the best parts of the experience. The food is pretty much what you would expect from this kind of spot: huge portions, greasy, salty, heavy, and very Americanized. Basically over the top Mexican food with lots of carbs. Not terrible, just not something that felt especially memorable or authentic. What really surprised me was that they did not have coffee or tea at all, which feels like a pretty big miss for a full service restaurant. I got Chimi Carne Asada Steak, served with a verde sauce and quite good. A bit pricey at $35, but tasty. My wife got Birria Pizza and my son got Birria Burrito, both good. I believe my son mentioned he got three meals out of his Burrito, which made me feel better about parting with $24. The drinks were good. I would imagine they could do better than $6.50 per bottle of Miller Lite, but what can you do. This would be a five star review if their prices were a bit better, but the food was good.
