Came here on Tuesday for taco Tuesday. Street Parking was easy to find. The place is really big. I ordered chips and salsa, soft chicken tacos, fried chicken taco, rice, and beans. The chicken was a bit bland and needs sauce. Otherwise everything else was good. The star of the show was the desserts. I got the churros and tres leches cake. I would eat those churros every day! Great Mexican food with a friendly vibe. This place is my number one go-to for Mexican food in the area. My favorite entree is the carne asada burrito- it's huge and full of flavor. I love the chips and red salsa is pretty spicy. They also have a more mild green salsa. I recently tried the chile relleno/flauta plate and it was pretty good too. They don't serve alcohol but it's BYOB. They also have a huge selection of different desserts at the front counter if you want to order one after dinner or bring one home for later. Update - June 1, 2019 We're here for late lunch on a Saturday. My wife ordered Lengua and I ordered carne asada. The beef lengua is hard, not like before that was soft, it melts in your mouth. Carne Asada is the same as before, much less in serving. Entree servings are much less and their menu prices went up. Me and my family have been coming to Mis Amigos, and it is the best. As the name suggests, the staff is great and friendly. Between the burritos, tacos, and the tortas, everything hits the spot. The prices are great, and I really do enjoy coming here for some good Mexican food, whether it is take out, or eating in. I was pleasantly surprised with Mis Amigos Mexican Grill. Came in with my mom and husband on a Sunday afternoon and we sat outside. We ordered nachos for an appetizer and soft drinks- they do not serve alcohol. The server didn't really speak English, but we were able to communicate. I have been hearing great things about Mis Amigos for a while now. Its only 5 min from my house I'm not sure why I didn't try it out sooner. There is street parking right in front of the restaurant but you have to pay the meter. (It only takes quarters, one quarter gives you one hour) There is nice outdoor seating in front of the restaurant unfortunately it was a little hot out so I chose to sit inside. The restaurant has a nice Mexican decor which gives it a homey feel. They were quick to seat me and bring me fresh tortilla chips with two salsas to choose from. My favorite by far was the dark green salsa which my server told me didn't have a name. She said it was made with jalapeños and tomato's & that was enough of a name for me. To eat I ordered 3 tacos which are only 2.50 each!! I ordered two chicken tacos and one chorizo. All of the tacos come with onions and cilantro. I saw on yelp that the fries were delicious so I ordered a small side of fries. Everything was absolutely delicious !! I loved the chorizo taco the most. Both the chicken and chorizo were seasoned to perfection ! The fries were tasty. Not too salty & had a little crunch to them! I can't wait to go back to Mis Amigos! This will definitely be my go to lunch spot from now on. read more

My co-workers made it out to Mis Amigos in Dunellen the other day, and they wowed me! I never am completely decided on what to order, mainly because everything on the table looks so good. I wasn't about to impose and take pics of my friends' meals, but everything came out great. On the order: Mexican beef dish, a quesadilla, a fajita, 3 massive burritos, and I got an mixed order of tacos and a side of jalapeño asado. The Mexican beef (res mexicana) looked really interesting; I'll have to try it. The fajita caught my attention and it's been a while since I've ordered one. The quesadilla is probably good for a mild appetite and the burritos looked like a healthy size. My tacos were great, and I highly recommend the lengua! I got the idea for the jalapeño by someone else at the table who's a bit more experienced than I at Mis Amigos... The jalapeño is cooked over a flame just enough to char the outer skin and soften the meat. It was hot enough to make me sweat a bead, and it was oh so good! It's officially going to be a staple item for me. Thanks for the hospitality, Mis Amigos. Hasta pronto! read more

I was there to watch a ping pong tournament very close to this restaurant and walked into this restaurant on a Friday evening. The place was super busy and it's not nicest place to dine in but their food is amazing. I got their chicken and fish tacos, it was yum and I liked their green sauce. Also got their vegetarian burrito which was so good. Definitely want to go back but I would do a to go next time. These pictures are pre covid but I've ordered take out from them and the quality of the food is still the same. It's a delicious gem right in the heart of Dunellen. They have Tex-Mex style dishes as well as more authentic Mexican and Central American dishes. As a Los Angeles native, I love eating here because it reminds me of the cuisine I grew up with. The decorations inside the restaurant are fun and the walls are covered in hand painted murals. I would say the best deals are the combination meals because you can try more than one dish so if you're indecisive or craving flautas but also craving Chile relleno or a tamale, you can get all three in a combo. read more

Had a recent visit with the family. Once again we had the mixed fajita which we always order when we come here. It was as good as ever. Delicious shrimp, chicken, and steak mixed with cheese and peppers (which makes it taste a lot less cheesy) served on a hot sizzling platter. Great portion size as usual. This visit I also ordered the spicy pork steak with stuffed peppers. It was also delicious - a sort of Mexican pork bulgogi. The stuffed pepper was actually a poblano I believe (not spicy enough and too big to be a jalapeno I would think). Delicious cheese filled the inside. Not cheesy at all - just the right mix of slightly crude pepper to counteract the cheese taste. Tender meat with the dish. Only ordering 2 entrees and shared between two adults and a toddler, we had a lot of leftovers to take home. You get a great bang for your buck coming here and the food is delicious and its byob. Can't beat that. There aren't too many restaurants I know of that meet all those criteria. read more
