Capital craft has started to do events like bourbon tastings and cocktail classes. Had the opportunity to finally go to one on a Thursday. It was a complimentary wine tasting. The wines were nice, it's unfortunate that they don't offer them in the restaurant. As for the actual food and dinner service, Anna was our waitress and she was so friendly and made sure we had a wonderful experience, which we did. I've never been let down with the sliders. They were delicious, as well as the pizza. I usually come here for brunch on the weekends, but if time allowed, I would definitely try to make it to another event. read more

Went to Capital Craft for Wing Wednesday and it was perfection! Hot honey boneless wings were delicious and got so many for $10. Also tried a monthly special, French Onion pizza. Tonight was pretty good there was a drink mix up where instead of getting the "naughty' drink like we ordered, we got the "nice" drink. It may have been Friday night at 7:45, but the music was club style and club level loud dance music-not family friendly at all. Our table was checked on throughout our dinner and our waiter was very attentive, helpful and quick to act. The place itself is very cute, a nice comfortable setting thats good to hang out and talk in groups. It was filled with chatter in a great way as we were surrounded by people connecting. I've never been crazy about their regular menu items, but decided to get brunch a try and found that CC offers one of the most reasonably priced brunches EVER! First off, members of their point club get free Pretzel Bites every visit---score! Second, for every person that orders an entree, you get a comped mimosa (only one per person though). This manager needs to be fired. Tonight I order food and my server suddenly has an emergency and needs to leave. No one says anything and she disappears. But the manager doesn't step in and check if her customers are taken care of. I ordered food and waited an hour then I asked if my order was on the way and I was told it was never placed. It is the responsibility of the restaurant to follow up. The order gets placed once again with a rush from the bartender and no one can check to see if it's ready because they are all too busy. So I wait again until I ask. Then someone runs over and finds it. After I eat and ask for the bill nothing is taken off for the wait and no apology. Started off with the fried cheese curds which were good and very greasy and then I had the Kentucky bourbon cheese burger which I asked to be done well done and it was. It was a good balance of spicy not too little nor too much. I do wish they gave me more onion rings though. But the burger more than made up for it. My server was very nice and took my order quickly. Oh Capital Craft, I want to love you but you've made it hard! I've been going to Friday happy hour at CC for years. It is without a doubt, the best deal in town. Half price beer and appetizers, with a giant beer menu featuring fabulous craft beers. My bestie and I could get out of there, after having 2 beers each and sharing an appetizer, for about $20 each. But. The service at the bar has made it such a drag and we have finally decided to find a new Friday destination. Our usual bartender left recently, which bummed us out because he was always super attentive and friendly, the way a bartender should be for any Friday happy hour crew. Things have changed recently. At our last visit, for instance, we were greeted with nothing but a curt "what are you drinking." Ummm...hello to you too! We had to ask 2 different bartenders if we could put in an order of nachos. They both said "sure" and then walked away and didn't return. Water? forget it. I might as well have gone out to the car to get my water bottle. And then the bill was wrong. Buzz kill all around. Friday happy hours are important to us hard-working folk. We meet up to relax and have a few laughs in a friendly atmosphere at the end of a busy work week. I am honestly surprised by the reviews here. Capital craft is one of my favorite sports bars. The bar food is delicious, it's an elevated Applebee's and I mean that as the biggest compliment! My boyfriend and I love the nachos, they are a huge serving with enough toppings for every chip on the plate which is rare. The popcorn chicken is always crispy yet light and not oily. I love the casual vibe with affordable prices to have a drink with a yummy bite to eat. Had a good experience at capital craft a few weeks back. We had a reservation for 8 people and were sat on time. They have a pretty extensive food menu and different seasonal cocktails. All the food tasted pretty good. The popcorn chicken was a hit, and I liked that I could swap my fries for tots with my chicken sandwich! I ventured out to Capital Craft in Green Brook recently to meet up with friends for a birthday dinner. They advertise themselves as a tavern and gastropub, so I generally temper my expectations for food, but I was pleasantly surprised. The place was absolutely packed on a Friday night, but luckily they do take Yelp reservations. For appetizers, we started off with the crispy brussel sprouts (4/5), chicken wings with dry rub (3.5/5), and popcorn chicken (4/5). These were all pretty solid with above average recipes. The chicken wings were decent, but not my favorite, and the popcorn chicken was tender and of decent quality, but came out a little oily. For meals, we got the spicy (Nashville) chicken sandwich, California chicken wrap, short rib grilled cheese, and the garlic knot chicken parm sandwich. These were all a solid 3.5/5, and while nothing groundbreaking with regards to recipe, were tasty and well liked by my friends. We had been especially eager to try out the garlic knot chicken parm sandwich since we hadn't seen that offered at other restaurants; the garlic knot bun tasted great, but it kind of fought against the usual flavors of the sauce, cheese, and chicken a little bit...not bad by any means, but a little bit of a conflict of flavors going on. The garlic parmesan fries that came with the sandwich were tasty, but a bit too saturated in oil and would have been better if drained properly. Service (3/5) was friendly, but struggled with checking in for drink refills on a busy Friday night, and we had to ask for water refills several times. Alcoholic drinks were a bit on the pricier side, and it was $9 for a not so generous pour of wine. We were celebrating a birthday, but the waitress didn't ask what dessert we wanted and took it upon herself to arbitrarily bring one out (at a pretty hefty additional charge). The atmosphere (2/5) was not great at all, as they had a DJ playing extremely loud music that made conversation with my friends difficult. I do like a place with good music as it can really enhance your experience, but they could have turned down the volume level and bass on the music a bit as it was simply too loud. Some of the other diners really liked it as they were getting a bit raucous and inappropriately loud as well. As for us, I think the atmosphere detracted from the dinner experience as it was more club-like, so rounding down to an overall 3/5 dining experience. While this experience makes me more likely to return to other eateries in the area like 22 West. I wouldn't mind dining at Capital Craft again; I'd just make it a point to avoid nights when they have a DJ playing music. read more

We were almost finished with our meal when the waitress asked us if we needed anything. I told her we were good and we finished our meal. After 15 minutes of sitting there with dirty dishes... I had to flag another waitress down to find my waitress. When our waitress came over, she was handing me the check and I told her the kids wanted dessert. She took the dessert order, but left the dirty dishes on our table. They finished the dessert and after 10 minutes of seeing no one in sight, I had to get up and go over to the drink station where everyone was hanging out and pay my bill. I came to Capital Craft with some friends who picked the place. It was close for them and they said it was on their bucket list to stop at recently and so my wife and I obliged. When we got here the inside was pretty nice, similar and the atmosphere to many craft beer bars that are on the nicer side. The waitress was very friendly and did not rush us. They had some interesting beers on the menu, and I asked for a sample before committing to something that sounded "unique" and she did not mind at all and got me the sample. We ordered appetizers and entrees, and I felt like the entrees came out a little soon but not the worst thing and it was late and we wanted to get home so I did not mind. Where my experience turned south was with my entree. I had ordered a steak and it was a relatively expensive entree. It might have been the third or second most expensive one on their menu. I'm very particular about certain foods and how I like them prepared and reading through the description of the item It sounded great. However when I got it I started eating the side first and so the waitress came to check shortly after dropping off the food I had not even tried the steak yet. Once I tried the steak there was an undeniable taste of soy, and soy is one of the flavors that I rarely enjoy tasting on food to the point where I don't order it. Feeling like I might have been crazy and my wife not wanting to try it if I didn't like it, I went to the menu and reread the entree listing, it talked about a pineapple marinade but no we're on there didn't mention soy. At this point I decided I really didn't like the steak and was not going to eat it and only had maybe one to two bites. Our friends encouraged me to send it back, but by the time the waitress came back around everyone else is finished with their food. I did ask the waitress if there was soy on the steak cuz it did taste like soy, and she told me she wasn't sure and said she would check with the kitchen. She came back shortly thereafter and told me that the steak is marinated and soy much like a different menu item, that had soy listed and then The pineapple is added when it's cooked. I asked her to take the item off because I really don't like soy, which she obliged and offered a replacement, however being that everyone else was finished with food, and are one friend needing to get home because of their travels the next day I opted not to order anything else. It was a disappointing dining experience because I was still hungry when I left, they did try to rectify this and it was really due to time, however I still felt unsatisfied. You might think this is what you get for ordering a steak with pineapple on it you fool. Which I might agree with you with, although all the other flavors listed were ones I liked and I feel like soy marinade is definitely something You need to list on a menu as people have allergies to soy. Like one of my best friends, who luckily was not there. All in all the beer list was really good, my friends and wife really enjoyed their food. The tex- mex salad was supposed to be in a tortilla shell bowl and I asked for no avocado. There was no tortilla shell, but there was avocado. I called and spoke with Mike the manager and he took care of the situation promptly, efficiently and was absolutely wonderful.
