Cute cafe with lots of options and authentic Colombian dishes. The decor is lovely and the seating is comfortable enough to stay a while. The employees are friendly and answer any and all questions regarding the menu. Been here a few times and I've enjoyed a variety of things.

It's #NationalEmpanadaDay today and @BigDudesBigFoods is going local with a #SmallBusiness in #KenvilNJ called #AltoqueCafe It's a cool, clean and inviting coffeeshop with Colombian pastries and a delicious assortment of #empanadas . We got beef and chicken empanadas accompanied by a couple of amazing dipping sauces. One was creamyand one was spicy. I think one was the antidote for the other. Great coffees and delicious accompaniments. Are you celebrating National Empanada Day. #BigDudesBigFoods #SupportSmallBusiness #BDBFCertified #BDBF

The empanadas and pastries were soft, flavorful, and tasted just like homemade. The coffee was excellent and paired perfectly with the baked goods. Fruit salad was delicious. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and provided outstanding customer service from the moment I walked in. The bakery was clean, well organized, and had a great selection of traditional Colombian treats. I highly recommend this bakery to anyone looking for authentic Colombian flavors and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back!

While Dulce Tradición has some larger dishes, I really enjoy visiting for their smaller sweet and savory pastries. Their beef and chicken empanadas are some of the best I have had. The outside is crisp and corn meal-y, while the inside if stuffed with shredded beef and juicy potato chunks. The inside is so flavorful. These empanadas are the ultimate comfort food. They have lots of pastry puffs as well, ranging from beef, guava, and Hawaiian. They also have excellent Brazillian cheese bread, and an excellent coffee selection. I will definitely be a regular here so I can sample each pastry Dulce Tradición has to offer. On top of this, the inside of the cafe is very cute and clean. The service is excellent and one time they even let me sample some of their home-made guava jam! This place is truly a gem and I highly recommend checking it out if you are in the area.

The portions were really big, leaving plenty of leftovers. We ordered the chicken sandwich, penne vodka with chicken, pechuga a la Columbiana, pechuga empanizada, fried plantains, and yellow rice. All of the dishes felt subpar in flavor. While nothing was bad, it all felt very average. I enjoyed the mushroom sauce with the chicken, but nothing stood out in the flavor. The pechuga empanizada felt a tad over cooked as well. We also ordered the tres leches which followed a similar theme of not having much flavor. Id likely give this place another shot to see if the experience dining in is better.

I ordered a pork loin with rice and soup: the soup was fairly good, the pork had been pounded thin and then fried until it had absolutely no flavor, the rice had utterly no taste, and a couple of tostones had the toughness of cardboard and tasted awful. At least two pieces of maduros weren't completely dry, although they weren't very good. Food has to be handled with care and passion to be any good, and my food clearly was handled with indifference, at best. Half of one star is for the waitress who tried, and the other half a star is for the immense television on the back wall showing a soccer game.

The best kept secret in Dover!…read more My boyfriend and I came here by chance when we were in Dover craving yuca fries, and since then, we've been hooked! We even came here to eat two days in a row once hahah Prices can't be beat, food is high quality deliciousness, and employees are extremely nice. You really get more bang for your buck when you order Bandeja Paisa, Especial de Bandeja, or the Calentado Paisa. They're all a little different but they each come with a variation of your choice of meat (grilled beef, chicken, pork, or chicarron) with rice, beans, egg, and corn patty in addition to whatever makes each dish different. For example: Bandeja Paisa includes grilled beef, chorizo, AND chicharron; Especial de Bandeja includes maduros and a beverage. Those options are all between $9-$12.50 AND the portions are huge!!! Sometimes when we don't want to get a huge platter like the ones listed above, we'll even opt for ordering multiple sides to make our own "platters" lol. I've ordered sides of yuca fries, chorizo, rice, and the Caldo de Costilla (beef rib broth - $4 under the breakfast menu) and be SUPER full at a super cheap price! ALSO! They have the best pink sauce and hot sauce ever. I don't know what it is about it, but it's just sooo good and flavorful. The pink sauce is very garlicy and the hot sauce has a nice kick and a slight vinegar-y taste. Mmm. I can't rave enough about this place. It's a tiny restaurant though so tables are limited (especially with COVID-19 social distancing in place), but if you have a chance to dine in, do it! They also offer take-out. Highly recommend!

The birria tacos were excellent, juicy and flavorful. The only thing is that they were pretty salty, and I wish they came with some sort of side, like rice, beans, or veggies. The Paisa platter consisted of steak, pork rinds, rice, beans, egg, avocado, plantains, a piece of bread. I was very impressed by this spread, and we received way more food than expected. The steak was tender and was cooked perfectly. Everything was super flavorful, but again a bit salty. I was very thirsty but the end of the meal! The service was also excellent and the waiter did a great job of explaining each dish to my husband. The ambiance was also nice, and we really enjoyed the travel videos they were playing on the large TV screens. I do think they could jazz up the inside a bit to make it a little more cozy and less fast-food-ish, but that's just my personal opinion.

The food was the biggest issue and For the price point, I expected much better quality and consistency. The ingredients didn't taste fresh, and the textures were off in a way that made the meal hard to enjoy. Even the simplest items--things that should be hard to mess up--were underwhelming. The staff was polite, but that couldn't make up for the disappointing food. I hope the kitchen improves, because right now it's not a place I'd return to or recommend. Im still waiting for the manager to call me back...
