This is easily my new favorite restaurant since moving from Montclair. The front of the restaurant functions as a cafe, so that's what you are greeted with as soon as you walk in the door. The cafe is so cute and European; I instantly felt like I was transported to a trendy cafe in Paris. They have lots of desserts on display and a good variety of coffee. To be seated, you walk through the cafe to the back. The restaurant is very small, but it is not cramped at all and is very cute. There is even a fireplace! This is the perfect spot for a cozy winter date. I ordered the Eggplant Toast and my Husband ordered the Kofte. Everything was served up quickly. I have been craving most eggplant toast since. It was so delicious, and so filling for just a toast! It came packed with arugula, micro-greens, and pickled onions. The kofte was similarly delicious and came with lots of rice and salad on the side. For desert, we both shared a piece of baklava, which did not disappoint. The aesthetic is very appealing too! My friend loved the feta omelette so much that she attempted replicating it at home. The Turkish tea is a must order. In addition to Turkish tea, they have plenty of loose teas. If dining in the tea comes in a teapot. Charming! The Turkish coffee is excellent! One of the best cups I've had in a long time. I had menemen. I wish it had a bit more flavor, maybe more spice? I'm not familiar with the dish so I can't comment too much. The interior was a bit chilly so I would recommend bringing a sweater if you come in colder months. And the service was a bit confused. I suspect it was because there wasn't a clear delineation of who was waiting on what table. Nonetheless, this did not detract from what a wonderful time my friend and I had. Stopped by Baklava with some friends for a quick and light lunch and we ended up sharing their manti, a light dough stuffed with lamb & onions served with yogurt, and an order of falafel and hummus. They were quite busy when we went on a Sunday afternoon but our food came out pretty quickly. Everything we ordered was tasty - the manti was doughy, and there were tiny bits of meat in each ball of dough. The temperature of the dish caught me by surprise - the yogurt made the dish cold, but the flavors were appetizing! My favorite was the falafel and hummus, particularly the hummus as it was very fresh and creamy. It paired perfectly with the pita and the vegetables on the side were refreshing. We stopped in late Wednesday evening right before closing, there were still ample desserts and options available for purchase however there was no staff by the register when we entered. We noticed staff cleaning in the rear of the restaurant and they definitely saw us walk in however we continued to wait for about 5-7 minutes and then left because no one was coming up to the register. I can't give an honest review other than the poor service we received upon entering this well known spot. Hoping the next time we are in the area the service is better. Need to be very careful with this because the class is piping hot and you need to wait before you can pick it up with your hands. Served black - the aroma was very pleasant. The taste was nice- not very powerful in flavor. The baklava was served in two small pieces with a lot of pistachios around it. It was enjoyable, but not my favorite baklava that I've ever had. Stopped here for a coffee on the recommendation of my barber. I got a white chocolate mocha latte and a Turkish dish that looked so good and was. It was a pie slice with pasta and dough. Pic is attached. Can't remember the name but it was amazing. The latte was good took and freshly made. There is a diminution in this mall place and it is up a few steps. Reminds me of a train car. The service was good, although I did wait at the counter to be helped a little longer than expected. The staff is friendly but the woman couldn't make the drink, she had to get someone else to do it.
