The food is even better than it looks, which is amazing, as the food presentation here is on another level. It was like sushi art. The sushi melted in my mouth. I had the unagi and pink lady roll. The pink lady had a nice spicy kick to it. Following my meal I received a complimentary orange palate cleanser which was a lovely end to a yummy lunch. Delicious! I actually had an involuntary reaction to how good the gyozas were. The first bite and I was hooked. The Queen Anne roll was great! Even though we ordered enough food to feed a small army (6 rolls, 3 entrees, and an app for 4 people) we had a hard time stopping ourselves from eating every last bite. This is our new sushi spot! Don't let Oceano's location fool you. You might not think you'd find a top-notch sushi restaurant nestled in a strip mall dominated by a sketchy-looking casino, but it's worth your while to visit this place if you love fresh, generous portions of sushi, well-presented and delicious. I came here for dinner, at about 7:30 or so on a weekend. The main dining room is small and intimate, maybe 15 or so tables, and probably about half full when we showed up. We were seated at a table off to the side. The lights are kept low and the music was some kind of instrumental electronic trance/house style and not too loud; unusual and actually pretty pleasant to listen to. It was pretty quiet and very easy to converse. We stuck with maki rolls and ordered several of them: cucumber, tuna, the "Fuego Roll" (spicy tuna with green onions and tobiko), the "Boycott Roll" (yellowtail with scallions and tobiko), and, on the server's recommendation, the "Lava Roll" (salmon, tuna, cucumber, and imitation crab drizzled with spicy sauces). We also ordered a spam musubi. The wait was not very long, and we were so impressed with the presentation. The sushi was presented in a classic "boat," with tiny cups carved out of cucumbers for the ginger and wasabi. There was a flower on it, and the rolls were beautifully arranged. Oceano clearly puts a ton of time and effort into presentation, and they deserve recognition for this, because it makes your mouth water as soon as they set it down in front of you. The maki were significantly larger than we've seen at almost all other sushi restaurants in this area, and I think that's a big selling point of Oceano. The taste of all the rolls was awesome. Fresh, with crunchy veggies and beautiful fish. I would hesitate to recommend anything specific because they were all so delicious, but my favorites were probably the Fuego and the Boycott rolls. The spam musubi was also delicious -- it's made maki style rather than nigiri style like you might find in Hawaii, but just as tasty. The service was excellent; our drinks were consistently refilled before we had even finished them, and we never had to wait long to flag down the server for anything we needed. Prices are a little higher than some other sushi places around here, but Oceano's quality stands above any of them and the higher prices are fully worth it. read more

My husband and I decided to try this very recently opened restaurant since it is so close to our house. We've eaten what we consider amazing sushi in Seattle, Tokyo, and elsewhere. This rivals the best stuff. The presentation is fantastic, the service was great - we just kept ordering more because everything tasted so good. I love going here wth my boyfriend not just for the food but also for the amazing company all the workers here gave us. Today we went to this place with my husband and our baby. It was just a terrible experience to say right off the bat. We are very big connoisseurs of sushi and have been to so many sushi places. Why did I choose this restaurant? Because a lot of good reviews and beautifully decorated sushi and plate. But! The first thing that bothered me was the dishes. Plain white plates and bowls, not Japanese style at all. We ordered a lot of food. Namely: 3 miso soups, Blossom Roll, California deluxe roll, unagi nigiri 2, seared salmon nigiri 3, salmon nigiri, scallop nigiri 2. Everything was HORRIBLY oversalted and overcooked. Seared salmon nigiri was not seared but overcooked. It is not right. The rice was sooooo sour everywhere, we think too much vinegar was added. And the rice was not properly cooked and in general the rice was not for sushi. And, strangely enough, we were there for over an hour, and we were the only ones there. Our total check for everything was $130, crazy right? It was terribly not tasty and not high-quality fish. But this is not the end of my review. When we were ready to leave, we all had severe stomach pains. LTerrible place, would not recommend and will not be back. read more

Solid three stars here. We were visiting family in Seattle for the holidays, and decided to come here for dinner one night. They were very accommodating of our larger group (with kids), so that is a plus for them here. The food wasn't any to write home about, but it was solid. One thing to note is that it seems like they combine all orders onto one large boat for the table, so don't forget what you ordered unless you don't mind sharing. The one thing worth mentioning was that I ordered the "special nigiri" which was salmon with crab and jalapeno on top. I was hoping it would be a small slice of fresh jalapeno for some kick, but was disappointed that it was pickled jalapeno. This flavor overpowered the rest of the bite and I would not recommend ordering this! Stick to the traditional nigiri if that is your thing. read more

My favorite place to get Sushi in the Mill Creek area. I think it's run by a Hispanic family and they have done an incredible job with both the food and dinning aesthetic. It's always clean inside, food execution/presentation is detailed and intentional, and the quality is great. The Rooster Salmon hand roll is one of my fav hand rolls I've ever had. Our server was super nice. They did mess up our order a little but we gave them grace since it was New Year's and it started to get busy. The rolls are big serving size, about 8 pieces. The all-you-can-eat option is very economical if you get the right rolls. I'd recommend sticking to nigiri to get your money's worth. It was over 80 degrees out today, but it didn't seem like they had AC on inside the restaurant. I dined alone which can sometimes be awkward, but the staff was very hospitable and chatty. I felt very welcome. I wanted an avocado, eel and tuna roll which didn't seem to be on the menu. I really enjoyed my spider roll, but my wife got the teriyaki chicken and while it looked cool in the half pineapple it was mostly onions and peppers. We live nearby, and were surprised and delighted to have such a great new sushi place in the area. The presentation and artistry is a real treat. We loved the poke and ceviche appetizers, and the coconut chicken soup was a great thai flavor that added that "asian fusion" angle. I absolutely love this place. We have been going for years and there just isn't anything like it. I was skeptical at first about mexican-sushi fusion, and it's definitely different, but SO good. Everything is always very fresh and presented so beautifully. The service is excellent and the decor is gorgeous. I love the Mill Creek roll (but get it with regular tuna, not spicy) and the Green Monster roll. The egg roll appetizer is amazing, and the desserts are gorgeous. We were given a cute complimentary dessert both visits and our servers are always really sweet and patient. Fancy looking boat container with other decorations. Rolls tasted good enough. Cons: Smelt strong perfume. Either from our server or somewhere in the store. It is our biggest complaints. The boat-shaped wooden container looks fancy alright, but guess what, it is made of wood and it says somewhat moist. The container looked dirty, especially from the bottom.
