Very similar review here....we were the only table in the restaurant and it took 25 minutes for the gyoza, another 10 minutes for the kids chicken stripes. The lemonade and glass of wine followed after that. After another 20 minutes our poke was not at the table nor was the sushi we had ordered at the beginning of this train wreck. Like, take one bite and throw it straight in the trash bad. My kiddo had vegetarian sushi and said it was tasty, so maybe I will give their veggie options a try. But their fish was truly awful. I feel awful leaving this review because the owners seem truly lovely, but I felt like it needs to be said because the food here in my experience is not anywhere close to deserving of the rating the restaurant carries. In short Gorgeous inside, service is very charming and attentive, and they make the most of every detail with the food. In long Deceptively bland location just north of Thrasher's Corner. Kind of a heap of strip malls for a couple blocks in every direction (and the same thing happens again a mile north, with even more shopping). Inside, though, you settle into a quiet, welcoming, immaculate setting. The hostess today was wonderfully friendly and focused; she was pulling double duty as a busser and server between lunch and dinner rushes. She sat me right away. The floors are polished concrete, which can be a bit slick with wet shoes, but looks nice and is perfectly clean. Nice dark wood walls and furniture, with black curtains hanging here and there to separate spaces, absorb noise, and settle the vibe. There are a few cooked options, including teriyaki and roasted/grilled finfish. Lots of nice options for the kids. The drinks list spends more time on beer and wine than it does on sake, but the sake I got was lovely. They put in a small decanter with room for ice cubes, nicely separated from the sake so it gets cold without getting watered down. Dig it! It's like a tiny bong your grandma would have thought was pretty. Seaweed salad Gorgeous presentation with extra lettuce building up the plate so it's ready for prime time. Cheap and easy way to make a very-common appetizer seem like it has some panache to it. Miso soup A bit more tart than I'm used to, possibly from the wide-leaf seaweed they added. I gobbled up every drop for sure. Sashimi I got the 12-piece and they really timed it to when I was done with soup and salad. Beautifully presented with cukes, shredded daikon, little cucumber cups for ginger and wasabi, and other vegetable flourishes around the plate. Just spectacular visually. The fish itself was wonderfully soft and buttery. Next time I think I'll say no superwhite; that's one of the very few things I avoid at sushi places, but it was tasty this one time and it's certainly something lots of people love, so it makes sense to include it if you don't say anything. We ordered the 12 piece Sashimi which came with salad/soup & the Bento Box with shrimp and vegetable tempura and beef teriyaki. It came with Gyoza, rice, salad & soup. The prices were good for the portions. However, my husband graded his Sashimi as a 3.5. I thought there was too much teriyaki sauce in the beef and it was too sweet for me. The salad also had too much dressing. The tempura was very crispy and the pieces were large and the Gyoza was very good. The service, once ordered, was pretty fast. We used to go here, and the food was good, even though it was expensive. Around 30$ a person. However, we went here and it was beyond frustrating. They changed the menu and food. The menu lacked the combos they used to have, which were good for reducing price. The entrees were all mid. For the sushi, the cucumbers on the side were rotten, the imitation crab was soggy and smelled weird, and the sushi wasn't out together well. Starting off when we first came in there was absolutely NO one in the restaurant besides 3-4 staff members. The decor and ambience of this place was so out dated and old. The place was ok clean, but looked chaotic, unorganized, papers all over sushi bar. I felt just uncomfortable even sitting in there, idk the whole vibe was off. We thought maybe it was just a one time thing that no one was in there but after reading some reviews seems like there are often times where people enter and there's no one there. We thought the inside is crappy looking but maybe the food is gonna be phenomenal, unfortunately the food didn't wow us either. The sushi did not taste fresh, even the rice itself wasn't my fave. The sushi was a 4 out of 10. We got 3 different rolls, the Pink Lady, Macha Macho & Queen Anne. The presentation was nice though. Took a long time for the food to come out. I also asked for a high chair and it took a few minutes to get it & i could see the waitress right by the high chairs. The waitress was friendly, but again nothing like wow amazing service. My friends That live in the Everett area go to this place all the time so they ordered us to go sushi and I must say I was very impressed. Samurai roll is a must have! The pecan in the roll sounds like it would be weird, but it was absolutely delicious and it added an extra "bite" to the flavor. Also bought the pink lady and Godzilla roll. I think our friends ordered the samurai roll times five haha so we were extremely surprised when we had free tempura rolls. They value their customers for sure. I feel like upper Bothell Everett highway area is pretty quiet...so Oceano sushi felt like a hole in the wall restaurant. The two of us ordered 4 rolls and tempura but I think we would've been perfectly content with 3 rolls. They make traditional rolls perfectly but they also offer some of the most innovative and delicious fusion style rolls you can't get anywhere else (Macho Macho). This family owned restaurant hits way above their weight class. Believe it or not, my kids love this place too.
