In Seattle area this past summer for 5 days. This place was so good we ate there 2 times. It was fresh and very tasty

the service, the food, and the stuff deserves 5 stars. the service: we were met by such a lovely waitress, i wish i caught their name. they were so attentive and had such a nice attitude, it was even more surprising and kind when they brought out a happy birthday platter for my sister (she was wearing a HB headband)! food: the food was really good! i think for what its worth, the thickness of the rolls and the prices for $16-18=8 is relatively good! not to mention, it was brought out in such a unique and fun presentation that definitely sealed their stars. we got three different rolls and one plate of fried battered tempura mix, temp mix: this was a 8/10! a good selection, not too oily, not too much nor too little, just enough, but i do wish there were a bit more tempura than veggie aha! tiger roll: 7/10 i think this has more of my bias implemented just because of preferences in food, but eel is not my go to! i ordered it on accident when i thought it didnt have eel but i mixed it up that was entirely my fault! aside from that, the roll was still good! just not part of my palette. so take this with a grain of salt! dinamite roll: 8/10 the dinamite roll is definitely an interesting one. the batter/fried of it is not too overwhelming and just a good enough crunch for it to be tolerable. i think the inside of it was just a bit confusing, i felt like i ate battered something meat and wasnt sure on the distinctive taste. it was still good! geisha roll: 9/10 i definitely enjoyed this one the most! it was so refreshing, not too overwhelming nor lacking of anything, i think it was the perfect amount and i couldve gotten full off of one roll. read more

Had high expectations after the reviews here, but sadly it just wasn't very good. We were seated quickly and it took a little while for our server to come and take our orders and it also took forever for the sushi to show up (I'd already finished my whole bowl of udon by the time it came) but otherwise service was fine. However, the food just wasn't up to par! We ordered the spider roll, pink lady roll, 12 piece sashimi, and tempura udon. The rice on the sushi was hard like it was a couple days old, and there was too much cucumber in the spider roll. The sashimi was cut in HUGE pieces, and the salmon didn't even look like it was cut correctly. The pink lady roll was the best one but maybe because there was less rice used? The udon was ok but the broth was all wrong and bland. The texture of the udon was good though. Overall, very disappointed we spent $100 on this meal. I had to wait until my 2nd visit to review this place, not because I had any problems with my first visit, but because my dinner companion didn't want to be there, and that colored my whole experience. This visit I went solo. I was seated within 5 minutes of arrival, even though it was a Saturday night. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, clean and inviting. I ordered the Rooster salmon (GET IT!!!!) and the pink lady roll and the hot pink saki. The sushi was delivered on a bridge; very, very attractive. Other tables received boats. It's obvious that presentation is as important to the kitchen staff as is the food. I can't give the rooster salmon enough kudos. It is raw salmon with a sliver of lemon & jalapeno and was amazing. The pink lady roll has both spicy and seared tuna and was perfection. I would love to bring my sushi-loving friends here and order a huge boat of different sushi's to enjoy. We were looking for a new sushi place to try out on sushi night and I stumbled upon Oceano. It's a bit of a drive for us but the sushi looked quite good on yelp and we felt intrigued so we made the drive there. It's located at a strip mall so there was ample of parking available at the parking lot. The restaurant itself is quite spacious inside. I fell in love with the interior decors of this place, truly the little nice touch everywhere. When we stepped in, the restaurant was quite full with dinner guests. We were asked to wait at the waiting area but the wait wasn't too long. We ordered agedashi tofu for appetizer, salmon and tuna sashimi (3 pcs each set) and the deluxe makis: I got the Blossom Roll, and since he loves eel, he ordered both Unagi roll with avocado and the Dragon Roll. Beautiful presentation on the dishes. The sashimi was served in a large bamboo bowl and the sushi came in a sushi boat. I did enjoy the Blossom Roll a lot. It's a roll with cream cheese, tempura shrimp & mayo, topped with salmon and avocado and drizzled with coconut mango glaze. I personally wished he didn't order 2 eel rolls -- it was just too much eels for me and I'm not a huge fan of eels to begin with, lol.. so I did find the unagi roll and the dragon roll were just okay. Our total bill was about $86 so I wouldn't say that they're cheap. Staff were super attentive and friendly. Our water was refilled frequently and our server checked on us often. The Veggie tempura platter is a generous portion of zucchini, squash, broccoli, carrot, and onion with a light, crunchy batter (they really should make a Chicken Karaage!). I had the Pink Lady roll and my wife had a fusion inspired roll that incorporated cilantro on the sushi rice. Let me tell you it was excellent! We started with the soft shell crab and a pickled veggie roll which were both delicious. We got the chicken and noodle dish from the little ocean menu and even that was amazing. Food: FRESHEST tasting fish I've had in a while. I got the double rainbow roll and although I thought $15 was a little steep, the quality of what I got did not disappoint! The double rainbow is tuna, yellowtail, and salmon on the inside, with tuna salmon and yellowtail on the outside as well. The presentation was absolutely stunning as others have stated. You can tell the owner really pays attention to details. Ambiance: outside is basic and ugly in a cheap strip mall but the inside is dimmed, modern, and clean looking. I went to Oceano a few weeks ago and it was divine! The sushi menu spans pages and pages, kind of like the Cheesecake Factory's. We overindulged and got miso soups and about 6 rolls for a table of 4 people, which was delivered in a cool boat. The servings are very generous so more than six people would have eaten from our platter, if we had been able to stop eating! The place closes around 9pm so you better plan ahead to get there. Conveniently located and with ample parking, it is a good place to meet up with friends before heading out for the evening. Their sushi is freshly made by expert hands and served by a very friendly and attentive staff. They kept the teas, beer, water and drinks flowing. If you are looking for a cool understated and chill place to have a good meal, this is the place. Another fine gem tucked away in suburbia that deserves more foot traffic and clientele. We went there on a Sunday evening and there were maybe 3 tables and the rest was empty, even though there wasn't much going on, service was slooooow! I mean, it took forever slow! The sushi itself is standard what you get in similiar places, the portions are decent, prices a bit on the higher end for what you get... but still ok. The sushi tasted great and the decorations were amazing! Our order came on a wooden boat with lots of lettuce and other decorations and it looked awesome. Oceano Sushi is everything, because its presentation is EVERYTHING. I'm always a little skeptical about fusion restaurants as an Asian American. But this place does fusion in such a tasteful (no pun intended) way. The menu used Japanese terms to describe each item along with English translations. Our servers were hospitable and warm throughout our entire meal. We ordered the Lava roll and the Blossom roll, as well as my favorite: salmon nigiri. It was all served on a massive, pretty boat. What I really enjoyed about this was not only the fancy presentation, but also the community style of eating that it encouraged. I couldn't believe how tasted delicious everything tasted! We also got to try a complimentary order of the calamari and an orange fruit dessert that was beautifully shaped as a panda (like omg, wow!). Even though I only rated this place a 3, I do enjoy the sushi. The chef does a great job of presentation, carving veggies to look like flowers and things. The restaurant is pretty and inviting. The sushi is tasty and the staff is courteous and quick. My only complaint is that the price point is a bit too high. I can get the same quality without the pomp and circumstance at a cheaper place near by. I want to support local businesses and will probably go here as a fun night out with friends but my visit would be more for the activity of going out rather than thinking about how much it costs. read more

Horrible! Worst service ever, slimy salmon and hair in food! Really can't get much worse! Came here on a slow Tuesday night (2 other groups in entire place) and ordered ahi poke, Vegas roll, and some soup for the wife (non-sushi eater). Poke was ok but very strange with a large amount of raisins in it. Who puts a large amount of raisins in poke? Vegas roll was disgusting with a VERY thick and hard as a rock crust dripping with oil. Worst I've ever had! (I've probably had hundreds) Sashimi was ok but salmon was slimy and mushy (gross)! Soup was ok but half way thru eating it pulled out a long black hair! Showed hostess (waitress was mia) and she said she would tell the waitress who was sitting at the sushi bar on her cell phone chatting with the chefs. We expected our waitress to come over right away and apologize or ask if we wanted another item but nope! She was either too lazy or didn't care. 15 minutes later hostess brings us the bill. Probably the worst experience I have had in many years! This use to be my spot for sushi but I'm giving this place a hard pass now! read more

Been looking forward to visiting Oceano Sushi for some time now due to the high reviews and presentation. If this review was ONLY for presentation + service + atmosphere, I would easily give it 5 stars. Unfortunately, outside of the Salmon, all dishes were just mediocre. My table of 5 had the Chirashi, an assortment of Nigiri and Alaskan Roll/Boycott Roll. First off, the most disappointing part was the rice; not sure if it was an off day but it felt like it was borderline stale and just dry. The yellowtail had an off smell about it and in general was just not good. Sashimi felt like it had water excess and was bland and texture was off as well. I will maybe give this place another try some day in the future in hopes that this was just an off day. read more
