I have been wanting to try this in Koreatown but parking isn't too easy there. My boyfriend and I planned to walk around Old Town Pasadena when we found out that there is an Oakobing location there. This is a smaller location compared to their k-town location. There was only 1 person working there at that time that we went on a Saturday afternoon. We got the tiramisu and strawberry (single cup). Both were good. I like how they give you the espresso shot on the side since I am not a fan of it. My boyfriend isn't a coffee drinker either but he did like to dip the shaved ice in this. The shaved ice itself was light. It was refreshing and perfect for a warmer day. I wish they would have more options for the single cups though. Other than that, we will definitely be back to try the other flavors. read more

Fun to try once. Not your typical shaved ice. The ice is actually made with flavor. It's closer to an ice cream concept, so I'd rather have a really good creamy ice cream next time. read more

Hands down the best bingsoo place I've ever tried. The taste and consistency of the ice is just perfect. I got the matcha and strawberry one and they were both good but I think the strawberry one remains as my all time favorite. The slight sourness of the strawberry pairs perfectly with the sweet taste of the strawberry ice. If you are also a bingsoo lover, I would definitely come here. read more

I tried the injeolmi & green tea flavors! both had a subtle taste and, without the toppings, didn't taste sweet to me. it's definitely a great dessert if you want something refreshing that isn't too heavy and isn't too sweet. the presentation was absolutely beautiful as well. the music in the store was also a bit loud so not the best for sit down conversations! read more

This place is delicious and the bingsu is creamy, soft, and flavourful. It also comes with a lot of fruit. We got the strawberry bingsu and the brown sugar milk tea, which were both great. The milk tea comes with shaved ice on top of it, which was really cute. We came on a Tuesday around 4pm, and it was pretty empty. We were also able to find street parking, though that has definitely been difficult previous times. Service was fast. You order at a self ordering kiosk and then pick up your order. I would definitely come here again during a weekday, but weekend evenings are so crowded. read more

Son/gf got strawberry.. since there was no seats when we order, got it to go, but last min got seats.. wish there is more outside seating, they have room but they only have 2 table /4 chairs. Oakobing is a small chic place, their desserts are really good, not to sweet, you order virtually and are call for your order. You don't interact with anyone from ordering to receiving your order. The ambience is very chilled, casual. It does get full really fast. However, parking it's hard to find, there is a paid parking next door but charges $10-$20 which is expensive just to go and get Korea shaved ice. The desserts over all were delicious. Parking is not easy but also not too hard. We found street parking ( meter), paid for 45 mins and walk to the store. The store is pretty small but clean. Several people come to pick up and we were the only ones actually eating in store. The shaved snow is gigantic. We added extra red bean and we both love it. We would definitely come again if we visit Pasadena again. read more

Food was okay, a bit on the sweeter side. Serving was decent - i ordered the single serve of oreo tiramisu. Shaved ice was fine, both cocoa powder and the shot of espresso were a blend of sweet and bitter. I do have a few things i wish they'd improve on. Tipping - almost everything was self serve, from ordering via the kiosk, picking up your order, getting water - so i dont get the reason why there was no option not to give any tip. Payment - i tried paying via apple pay and tapping my atm card, neither worked. I had to manually type the details of my card on the screen. I found it a hassle/inconvenience and i felt unsafe(luckily no one was behind me) but what if there was and that person was memorizing/taking pics of the details on my card? I'm pretty picky when it comes to my shaved ice. I am not a fan of the stereotypical shaved ice you get here; I am a fan of the creamier shaved ice I used to get in Korea. Oakobing nailed it with their bingsu. went with the Injeolmi single serve. came with a heaping scoop of mochi and some condensed milk on the side. There was seating, but I'm guessing it's because it was pretty cold outside and a weekday. read more

The single serve is a good portion for two people. The texture is very creamy and less "shaved icy" compared to other bingsoo places. I personally liked the green tea one. Keep in mind when ordering single serve some of the toppings do not already come with it so you may want to add the side toppings. read more

Oakobing is chef's kiss!! I love the Pasadena location because it's not super busy during the weekdays and street parking in old town Pasadena definitely beats street parking in ktown. Anyway, I'm very fond of the fruit based bingsoo, especially the mango melon. It's huge btw, and I would recommend sharing between 2-3 other people. The strawberry and mango cantaloupe are also very good flavors. I'll be back soon! read more

I cannot believe most of the positive reviews on Yelp. I visited this place today at around 6:30 p.m. I am Korean and tried multiple Korean dessert shops in South Korea and LA Ktown. The attached image is proof that I've been here. Trust me. I am trying to stay objective. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. I do not recommend anyone wasting their money and time. Hopefully, my honest/genuine review will save your valuable time and money. This is one of the primary reasons why consumers read reviews before making a choice, right? First off- When I entered the place, the smell was full of restroom odors. I am not exaggerating. All my other friends said the same thing. It made us lose our appetite. It was DISGUSTING. The floor was also dirty and sticky. Since this was my first visit, I asked the staff a few questions about the bingsoo since it was a self-checkout kiosk (About three workers were making bingsoo). One girl walked away to the kitchen without answering the questions properly and made a face/gesture like "Please do not bother me." But the self-check-out kiosk forced the customers to pay the tips as there wasn't "no tip" button section. Ridiculous. As the picture has shown, I ordered the sesame bingsoo; this is not a typical Korean bingsoo taste. Overly sweet, not balanced. Besides that, it's overpriced: $12 something + extra mozzie ($2) + tax = $16 per bingsoo. My friend and I just left without even finishing them. I swear. The entire dessert shop was filled with a bathroom smell, which ruined the whole experience. Do they properly take care of hygiene? Most importantly, the bingsoo tasted below average. read more

This bingsu place is absolutely amazing. There is such a range of creative flavors that I could never get sick of and there is not a single flaw I can point out about Oakobing. I ordered two bingsu; the matcha and the injeolmi and they were both absolutely DELICIOUS. I ordered the matcha in the smaller size and it came with a shot of matcha condensed milk as well as mochi. I ordered the injeolmi in the large side and it came with generous amounts of mochi, red bean, and soybean powder. All of the bingsu combined was perfect for around 4 people as a small desert. It was really easy and accessible to order since they have a little iPad that you can order from and the service is super quick and really friendly. The shop was not crowded when we went, which was around 1-2 pm and there were some tables available. They also have outdoor seating which is great, and the prices are really affordable too. The bingsu is super high quality and literally feels like you are eating a cloud. The mochi and the add ons really add something else, and I will DEFINITELY be back to try their honeydew and other flavors. 100% recommend. read more

if you like honeydew and mango, DEFINITELY get the mango melon shaved ice. it's so refreshing, creamy, and sweet. perfect for a hot day after a meal. the melon balls are juicy and sweet, and the mango snow is perfectly sweet and fluffy. it also came with a cup of condensed milk to pour on top. some of the other ices don't come with it and it's an extra $0.50. shared among 3 people, the one serving of ice was enough for us to be satisfied after lunch! i came around 1pm on a wednesday and found free street parking about a block away. there was a small lot next to the place, but there was a sign that said you had to pay. when you go inside oakobing, you order and pay on the ipad. then you pick up your order at the counter. fast and easy, so i appreciate that. i would like to try the other flavors as well, since the ice itself was so refreshing and soft. it didn't taste artificial either, it was very naturally sweet. read more

The desserts are fine if you are a fan of bingsu (I'm not), but I would recommend taking your order to go as opposed to eating here. The place is absolutely filthy and none of the staff seemed inclined to do anything about it. read more

Even though there are signs everywhere saying that it takes 15-20 minutes for the souffle pancakes to be cooked, ours came out super quickly, in 5 minutes or so. When you order, you receive a text that lets you know your order number, has a receipt, and also an expected time of delivery. The drinks were ready about 15 minutes. This was a poor execution of a risotto. The texture was off, and the flavor was overwhelmed by whatever cheese they used in this dish. The charred scallop was one single scallop cut in half and overly charred and rubbery in taste. The blue shrimp were shriveled too. We made sure to eat the proteins to prevent waste but you know it's bad when my boyfriend didn't even want to togo this dish. He normally eats anything to prevent waste. Branzino alla Griglia ($38) - Whole grilled branzino topped with eggplant, salsa verde and herb salad. This was the least bad item that we paid for... Although there was a lot of bones to be cautious of. I understand the risk of stumbling on a few bones when ordering a whole fish but this was more than I would have liked. I also didn't like some of the flavors coating the fish. Although from a grilled perspective it was crispy and perfectly cooked. This is a popular business with plenty of patrons to keep them busy. Whatever they like... it isn't what I look for in a business I frequent. I know they don't need my business and I will gladly stay away and save myself all of the trouble. This was way too stressful and there weren't any dishes I need to have again. My experience was so awful I'm being very generous with this 3 star, which is "average".

I was curious when I was researching for a sweet ice dessert shop in LA and Oakobing came to high on the list. We made a special trip to Oakobing and I believe it was worthy of my trip. Place is cute, menu is pretty big, lots choices. We picked couple of flavors one macha shaved ice and strawberry shaved ice. It came with super sweet and fresh strawberry on topping and they put strawberry sauce on the side. The ice itself is already rich enough, but since I have a sweet teeth, it's even better with it. The flavored ice was melting in my mouth, the weather was so cold but still can't stop me from eating it. Portion was big and price is so cheap compare to any other dessert place In LA. I have to stop myself from crying when I'm finished because all I want is more. There is no such thing as having enough of Ish's amazing, unique desserts. To add to the sweetness, Ish has always treated my family and I with such warmth, fun, and respect. Visiting is always a great vibe and such a treat. We tried the Ube & Black Sesame Roll, Banana Blue Corn Blueberry Pistachio Bread, Pistachio Cardamom Roll, and the Spam Tocino Cheese Scone. The Ube & Black Sesame Roll was easily my favorite. It had the perfect balance of flavors, wasn't overly sweet, and was something I'd absolutely come back for. My second favorite was the Spam Tocino Cheese Scone, which was savory, flavorful, and full of childhood flavors. The Banana Blue Corn Blueberry Pistachio Bread was my least favorite, mostly because the texture wasn't for me, but the flavor combinations were still interesting and unique. The pastries are definitely on the pricier side, but the quality and creativity make them worth trying. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. It's located inside Blossom Market, so parking is easy, which is always a nice bonus. I'll definitely be back for another Ube & Black Sesame Roll.
