After shopping at the Santa Anita Mall, I wanted to try the new Japanese Matcha dessert. They serve both Matcha and Mochi dessert. This shop is located at the Santa Anita Mall outside the Nordstrom side on the second floor. Ordered Mango Montblanc Hojicha Parfait. This dessert contains the following: Hojicha jelly, whipped cream, mango puree, rice crispies, soft serve, mango mont blanc, mochi balls, and matcha chocolate leaf. This cool mango treat was sweet, creamy, chewy, crunchy and refreshing on a hot day. The matcha was both sweet and bitter in taste. Service was great and friendly staff.
This is one of many drink places open at Santa Anita mall. I tried it for the first time yesterday and really liked the matcha drinks here! The matcha flavor is very strong, and the caffeine content seems pretty high. My friends and I tried the matcha shake and the matcha latte with sakura foam (50% sweetness). I loved the Matcha Shake, which was basically a drinkable matcha soft serve. The matcha latte with sakura foam was also good, although it was very bitter (which is probably because we ordered 50% sweetness). My friend also ordered a strawberry mochi for herself (which I personally did not try); she said it was very good and the mochi was soft. Service was pretty quick; our drinks were ready in a few minutes. There is some seating around the shop.
UPSTAIRS NEAR NORDSTROM & DIN TAI FUNG ====================================== Matcha Ren is a good option for a post shopping snack or beverage after a Nordstrom visit. I've been there twice and while I love a good matcha latte I have ordered their matcha soft serve the past two visits. There is easy ordering on the iPad. The big menus are up above. The first time I ordered the matcha soft serve and the second time I ordered the matcha and milk swirl. I think I prefer the latter. The next time I might try the Mont Blanc softserve. I agree with Margaret P., the L.A. East Community Manager, who wrote that it didn't knock her socks off. But it definitely hits the spot without having to drive somewhere else after shopping. Located in the cubby hole section with a few restaurants upstairs between Nordstrom and Din Tai Fung.

Matcha Ren was announced in May and then opened in September in the old hainan chicken spot (near the Nordstrom as you walk towards the outdoors area, past Uncle Tetsu!) It's kiosk order only and service was relatively quick despite the building line. I ordered the: *Matcha Montblanc Parfait (layered with the montblanc, Hokkaido milk cream (you could also pick Matcha ice cream), strawberry puree, mochi , crunchy cereal and kadang (jelly)) - I enjoyed this! The strawberry puree was pretty sweet for me but I loved finding the mochi and kadang. I also think I'll get the matcha ice cream next time so it's more matcha forward. *Sakura Daifuku - the texture was on point, so soft and fresh. It also delivered on the cherry blossom flavor.
I went here to get some matcha with some friends. I don't think it was terrible but it didn't blow me away. I think their known for their dessert that kinda looks like spaghetti but personally don't waste your money on it unless you want cute pictures. I think your better off with the matcha ice cream. Overall the place was not bad. I would probably come back to get some matcha ice cream. It is a nice hangout spot with friends. More for the experience and pics than the quality of the desserts
Decided to skip the matcha drinks and ice cream since I was disappointed when I first went there a few months ago so I gave this spot a second chance and got their popular mochi instead! At first, I was hesitant to spend $4.80 on 1 mochi but I ended up being curious and getting 2! This was definitely the priciest mochi I've gotten but after seeing so much hype on social media on how their mochi is freshly made, I had to get it. The Matcha Strawberry mochi tasted very fresh, soft, and chewy. It didn't taste too sweet or doughy but wish there was more of a matcha flavor. The strawberry would have been better if it was more sweet. I really enjoyed that there was a string given to cut the mochi perfectly in half! The strawberry choco mochi was very sweet and the strawberry tasted hard and not sweet. Definitely don't recommend getting this and would much rather get the matcha strawberry! Overall, I liked the matcha mochi better than the matcha drinks but definitely will not be returning because it was pricey and nothing too special unfortunately!

Located near the food court area near Din Tai Fung @ Westfield Santa Anita mall (Arcadia, CA), I ordered the following via the kiosk: - 1 matcha soft serve = $6.90 Sooo good! This place is relatively new and wait time can be quite long but worth it! The matcha flavor is strong yet sweet and authentic! I will definitely come back to try out their other items on the menu :D

A Sakura parfait with sakura jelly lychee, mochi, sakura white bean paste, rice krispies, matcha cake. For later I ordered the Sakura strawberry daifuku. Both were delicious but it took a long time to get it so I sat for a bit at the tables.
Passed by this matcha spot over the weekend at Santa Anita Mall and noticed there was a line, so of course I had to see what the hype was about! The setup is open and you can clearly see their workstation while ordering. I noticed that the bowls and whisks didn't seem to be rinsed or changed between drinks, and spills on the counter weren't being wiped down right away. It made the area look a little less clean. I ordered two drinks. First was the banana cream matcha -- it was delicious and really smooth, but I honestly couldn't taste much matcha. It leaned more toward a banana milk flavor. The second was the blueberry matcha.They used blueberry purée (it tasted fresh!), but similar to the first drink, the matcha flavor was very light and got overshadowed. Overall, the drinks were enjoyable flavor-wise, especially if you prefer fruit-forward matcha drinks. I just wish the matcha flavor itself was stronger and that the workstation upkeep was a bit more polished.
Matcha Ren is located next to Red Rock in the corridor between Din Tai Fung and the promenade and serves a variety of matcha treats--crepes, daifuku, Mont Blanc soft serves, and matcha drinks. I've passed by it a few times where the line almost made it to the boba shop next door. It doesn't move super fast but isn't too long of a wait either. We ordered daifuku, although they were unfortunately out of the shiroan by that time (7pm?) and I don't like the anko daifuku as much. It's nice that the offer the shiroan one in general though. It's pretty tasty for the US, with the only downside being the outside was a little crusty from sitting in the fridge. Both Mont Blancs were yummy, but I liked the parfait ($10) way more because of the mochi balls and tart strawberries which helped balance the milky soft serve. The regular Mont Blancs are $9.20, daifukus are $5 which is quite expensive for a single.
Came at 8pm and there was no line. Thought they were closed but the worker was in the back. He came out when we rang the bell. I got the sakura foam matcha latte and i loved the flower notes from the sakura foam. The drink wasnt sweet but it was good. They had mochi and daifuku. It looked good but we were soo full it wouldve been a waste of money. They sell a 5 piece matcha set, the chasen separately, and matcha powder if you want to make it at home yourself. Id come back to try their ice cream and mochi to see how they are.
Why did I come to Arcadia Mall....ya to visit the Longines Store... The Matcha was a gamble. I've had matcha in places I didn't enjoy. But this place has it right. Ordered the Banana Creme Matcha Latte 1/2 Sugar 2 Pumps with coffee bits ; enjoyed the subtleness of the bananas, the presence of the tannins but balanced away with the mixture of ice, creme, sugar and the hint of bitterness. Like you aren't sacrificing the tea experience everything feels wholesome. Glad I gave this place a shot. A lot of the stores / food establishments in this mall come and go. The weather really calmed down today, after the raging winds of yesterday. read more
6/14/2026 STRAWBERRY CREAM MOCHI Mochi itself was a bit too mushy. Cream tasted like pocky strawberry. There was another strawberry jelly in the middle bringing more strawberry flavor. The cream didn't taste bad, but the mochi was mushy and it was off-putting to eat. MATCHA CREAM MOCHI This was more of a matcha strawberry flavor than matcha cream filling. The cream in the middle was strawberry and regular whipped cream. The outside was dusted with matcha powder. The matcha powder was not good and immediately had a fishy smell. Matcha tasted like old matcha with a bitter flavor. The filling wasn't bad though. The mochi texture wasn't bad either. BLUEBERRY MATCHA LATTE The matcha was very poor quality. It did not taste like matcha, but more like jasmine tea. Appearance-wise, you can see the green color of a matcha, but it tasted like floral jasmine tea. The blueberry jam or compote did bring a light blueberry flavor, yet it was not strong enough to carry the flavor through when mixed with the matcha. Overall, it tasted like a floral, fruity jasmine tea. Not good, do not recommend at all! SELF-ORDER KIOSK There's a self-order kiosk at the front. That's the only way to order. The screen was big and it was easy to navigate. You get a receipt with a ticket number afterwards. CUSTOMER SERVICE Very little interaction with the staff except when you pick up your order at the front. So have nothing more to add. NO SEATS Take out order only. This was an underwhelming experience. Will not return. read more

This is located on the second floor towards the Nordstrom. They have a kiosk! The staff are nice and the order arrived at a decent time. There's mall seating nearby but it makes for a chill environment nearby. The matcha cream mochi is delicious. It's light and just sweet enough. It makes for a good sweet treat after a meal. The matcha latte is really good and you can feel the texture. I got the less sweet option amd that was just right for me. I'd only wish it wasn't so full of ice. But otherwise I'd return to try more from the menu. read more

Was craving a drink while shopping at Santa Anita Mall and decided to give this place a try. I always cross paths with this matcha shop and notice that there's always a long line but my family and I got there and no line surprisingly on a Saturday afternoon. Before I ordered, I saw that their bowl and whisk aren't being washed in between making each drink. You can see through the transparent glass how messy the bar is since the leftover matcha just drips down from the whisk and bowl. Whatever, we still decided to order and take our chances. I got the banana cream matcha and you can taste the freshness of the banana cream top. The matcha wasn't as concentrated as I hoped it would be but it was decent. My mom got their matcha and milk swirl and I got to have a bite of it. It was creamy and refreshing on a hot day. Total for these two items were $15.08. I got to try my cousin's sakura matcha latte and it tasted a little watery. read more

Came here a couple of times and this place in terms of wait has been a hit or miss meaning one day there'll be a long line or other days it'll just be a short wait. The matcha drinks here are pretty comparable to other places which is a good thing but doesn't mean it really stands out compared to the rest. Nevertheless, the Matcha Strawberry drink I got wasn't too bad. We also ordered their Mont Blanc to try. It's probably the must-try here at Matcha Ren. The shavings on top of mixed with the flavor of the soft serve was a good combination. You can really taste the matcha on top and the Hokkaido milk flavor was pretty good. Their daifuku was also good. Strawberries were fresh which is a plus. For a nice dessert place to go to after having dinner here at the mall, this would be a good spot to try especially if you like matcha. read more
For the popularity of this place, this store location seemed understaffed and not well placed. I waited in line for 20 minutes as the line stretched behind into the hallway leading outside. Upon receiving the mont blanc soft serve, the ice cream looked aesthetically pleasing. However, I was not a fan of the texture of the mont blanc as it's very similar to play-doh. The ice cream was also lackluster as the matcha did not come through and ended up tasting more like condensed milk. The combination of a milky ice cream and bean paste texture is not something I would order again. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since its came to Irvine! I got the strawberry daifuku and the strawberry matcha latte! The daifuku had a nice chew, the strawberry was fresh and the addition to white bean paste adds a nice balance to the matcha and fresh strawberry! I would definitely recommend it! However, the strawberry latte I got, the matcha used in the latte is bitter than usual matcha. I'm not sure if the matcha is usually bitter but it tastes way bitter than the regular matcha I would make at home. I'm not too sure if I just got a bad mix of matcha or it's their usual taste. Their service was pretty fast as I had to wait for a quick 5 minutes for my drink. Ambiance is average since this is more of a grab and go cafe! TIP: This is in the Santa Anita mall on the second floor near Din Tai Fung, Bingsu Bingsu near the outside portion of the mall. The nearest restrooms would be near 3Cat! The parking is ample and free, but varies on how many people decide to go to the mall that day, so it may be hard to find a parking spot. read more

I AM IN LOVE! So surprised to see NO line on New Year's Day?! I have been wanting to try this place for so long but the line was just always so long. Ordered the Mont Blanc and a hot matcha latte (with almond milk). My husband ordered a blueberry matcha which he enjoyed. We also ordered the matcha latte and strawberry matcha for friends. The matcha latte was surprisingly bitter, in a good way. It wasn't very sweet and you can taste the quality in matcha powder. If you're a true matcha connoisseur, then you will enjoy this drink. The flavored matcha drinks are sweeter, but not over sweet. The star of the show was definitely the mont blanc. I don't know what I was expecting, but I assumed the matcha "shavings" was made of ice cream, but I was wrong. It was made more of a matcha paste and was so delicious. It balanced the sweet Hokkaido milk flavor of the soft serve. Truly a great combination. Although located in the mall, matcha ren definitely delivers in flavors. There are seats nearby but no dedicated seating area for its location. I can see why this place was viral for the longest time. read more
5 stars for the Mont Blanc Parfait with matcha and Hokkaido milk swirl, but everything else was just okay. I didn't think I'd finish the parfait by myself, but I totally did. It basically became my dinner, haha! The soft serve swirl is a must-try. It comes with mochi, red beans, and some jelly toppings that complement it perfectly. I've been here twice so far and was lucky to visit on weekdays with no line. The matcha Americano, however, was disappointing, it was watery and lacked flavor, so I wouldn't get it again. The strawberry mochi daifuku was cute, especially with the little string to slice it in half, but the mochi wasn't as chewy as I hoped. I'll probably give their crepes a try next time. This spot is located upstairs at the Promenade, where Side Chick used to be (RIP!). read more

I saw an instagram post of their Mont Blanc and that is what led me here. It wasn't too sweet or bitter. Just the right balance of sweetness and flavor. Located at the Santa Anita in the level 2 food court bear Nordstrom, this place did not disappoint. I would recommend checking out this place if you like Matcha. read more
Visited on a Thursday evening. Pretty easy ordering system. I was craving matcha and something fruity so ended up ordering a mango matcha latte. I was very happy with the amount of matcha they used and the mango flavor was strong as well. Tasted delicious. Glad there's a reliable matcha spot at the Arcadia mall! Will definitely come back to try some of the limited Sakura items. read more
Excellent matcha spot in SGV, located in Santa Anita Mall 2nd floor. Their trendy Mount Blanc with Matcha, Hokkaido Milk, or combo Soft serve ice cream is the main viral sensation. The matcha topping is unique and adds texture to the soft serve, and not really sweet which is great to balance out the ice cream. Definitely a must try. We also really liked their Mochi as well, as they are hard to find outside of Japan and Hawaii. Their green tea flavored mochi with white bean and strawberry interior was very good. I liked their strawberry mochi with chocolate and azuki bean inside, which was fantastic. They also have drinks and crepes. Much to try. Can't wait to come back! Weekends can have long lines, but we came during Tuesday opening (noon) and were able to snag everything without a wait and fresh. read more
Good matcha option in the 626. Located inside the mall right along the hallway near Din Tai Fung. Average price is about $7 per cup. Ordered 2 blueberry matches and 1 strawberry, did not taste artificial and was pleasant. They make each matcha drink per order and you'll see them craft each cup as order comes in. They do weigh each cup to make sure the grams of matcha powder is consistent per cup. Line does get long but moves fast and can see myself grabbing a matcha if I'm at the mall again. read more
I've been to this spot more than I can count with my fingers. It's a good matcha spot next to Nordstrom / Din Tak Fung but has drinks, ice creams, crepes, and Daifuku. Don't expect you'll get your drinks right away as they are whisking up your matcha. Each cup is measured and whisked. Hence service can be a bit slow but can't blame anyone. Trust the process. Worth waiting for. I ordered the: Matcha latte with Oat milk - not too sweet (best compliant any Asian can give) and the oat milk gives it a nutty taste (and also because I'm lactose now from all these stress) Strawberry Choco Mochi - it's good! Strawberry mochi with a chocolate red bean paste. Don't do this in one shot but rather enjoy it. Also you wouldn't want to choke. Seats available if you want or take a stroll at the mall with your matcha. Overall, good matcha spot at Arcadia Mall. read more
BIG YIKES. I've heard of this franchise and seen it in other locations in SoCal, I've just never had the chance to try. Those ones have slightly higher ratings so the fact that this has scored so lowly is a huge red flag. But we already ordered before I checked in to see and part of me gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought the low reviews were from a grand opening event or something, but sadly not the case. There was no line when we went on a Wednesday evening after an early dinner, only 1 person ahead of us who ordered. The worker was polite and friendly and all of our order came out efficiently. Not only do they have matcha here in the form of a drink, but other beverages and desserts (strawberry daifuku, crepes, soft serve, etc.). We got the: 1) Matcha Latte: -You have choices of other milk alternatives, but we just got it with whole milk. -At first tastes like any basic matcha latte or matcha milk tea that you can get at any low quality boba place but strangely after an hour or so, it started to taste fishy which was super gross. I know this happens sometimes with matcha drinks that I leave overnight, but the fact that this happened so quickly makes me wonder what could have made it denature/oxidize like that... 2) Yuzu Lemon Matcha Soda: -No taste of Yuzu at ALL (even though I saw the server spoon some in before capping the drink). Even with mixing the drink. There is a slice of lemon in it too. -Just tastes like super bitter dirt matcha with soda water. Like a gross health tonic that we had to chase with the ice cream. 3) Matcha Mont Blanc Soft Serve: -You can choose the flavor of the soft serve and we go the swirl of matcha and Hokkaido milk. -All of the Yelp reviews and the photos that I've seen of Matcha Ren at this point have been of this Mont Blanc dessert and since it's amore unique item, we just had to get it. They also squish out the "matcha noodles" on top in front of you which is neat. -The "noodles" are soft dough-y matcha puree squished on top of the ice cream. The ice cream was decently milky and didn't have that watery texture and the matcha "noodles" added a nice kick of sweetness to the dessert. -We actually had to use this as a chaser for how foul the soda was...This was the only good thing from our order and if you had to get something, it'd be this. Maybe, maybe? I'll try a different dessert in the future if someone else I'm with wants to try it out, but other than that this is a big skip for me at this mall. I had seen this place on Tik tok and was so excited to try it. Line was pretty long but my fault because I got there almost at closing time. We tried the parfait strawberry which was really good. We also tried the matcha mochi ice cream not sure if it was because they were almost closing but it was falling apart. The ice cream was dripping everywhere. Overall I would recommend but definetly go earlier in the day. read more

New matcha spot at the mall. I've passed by this store before and line was super long. This time didn't see a long line so decided to give it a try....then soon after I saw a line form haha. I tried the matcha latte and mochi ice cream. The latte was good - nice strong matcha flavor. I love matcha and next time want to try some of the other items. Drawback is that it's a tad pricey. This review is based purely on their mochis/daifukus. I ordered the matcha strawberry and the strawberry cream daifuku. Both of them were absolutely delicious. I could easily eat 10 of them. The matcha strawberry had a fresh strawberry inside of it, and the paste wasn't too sweet. The flavors blended well together and the mochi skin was soft but had a slight chewiness to it which was perfect! The strawberry cream was light and not too sweet either. Would highly recommend ordering their mochis! Service was excellent. I received my order at the register. There is plenty of seating across the shop and also around the mall. read more
I'm not really a matcha person, but I am a daifuku person so I was very interested in trying Matcha Ren's matcha mochi strawberry mochi, which is a whole strawberry, encased in white bean paste, and then a layer of matcha mochi. The matcha is more for color than taste but it was a lovely confection, the tartness and brightness of the strawberry, the sweetness of the bean paste, and the chewy mochi. While I was there, I also ordered a banana cream latte, which the cashier helpfully recommended. It is one of the Top 2 sellers for reason. The banana cream is homemade with fresh bananas, condensed milk, and cream. It is delicious and not artificial at all. The top of the drink is adorned with something crispy and sweet, maybe a crumbled honeycomb and it was a welcome textural surprise. read more

The matcha latte with oat milk made me visibly recoil. I can't even begin to describe the aftertaste and graininess. Don't know if it's the oat milk or that's just how they do their thing. But it makes me shudder to think about. The mont blanc soft serve was surprisingly okay but I wouldn't get it again. read more

Been wanting to try the Mont Blanc for the longest time and was excited to see that they were opening up at the Arcadia mall! I believe they just opened so not a lot of people know about it, so the line was pretty short. It also went by really quick. Ordering was quick and efficient. I went to order the Mont Blanc swirl and to find the restroom in case they took too long. Which it was done when I came back! The atmosphere behind the counter does seem a bit chaotic, and one of them looked stressed... since they didn't offer me a spoon with my dessert, so I wasn't sure if the ones on the side were clean spoons since it looked kinda empty lol. Luckily it was! But I grabbed my soft serve and left. First few bites, honestly the matcha strands are intriguing, but tbh my first impression was that it kind of reminds me of Plato lol. So I wasn't really enjoying the texture. Although, the matcha flavor is very pronounced with the soft serve overall. The soft serve was very milky and creamy, I thought it was pretty nice! It's a lot for one person, so it's better to share this with another. At least the matcha in this soft serve was pretty strong in my opinion. For a $10 price on this Mont Blanc? I wouldn't get it again lol. It's very pricy for what it is and I probably would have paid like $7 for this. read more
Stopped by one weekend and was happily surprised to be there before they opened. definitely arrive early or you might be waiting for a while, I arrived 15 minutes early and there was already a line forming. We tried the mont blanc, strawberry matcha and the banana matcha. I'd never had anything like the mont black before so it was a pretty interesting experience, the matcha just melts in your mouth. The flavor was unexpected, a little cheesy? Reminded me of cheese foam that you get in boba drinks, which I'm not the hugest fan of, so I would not get it again, but I am glad I tried it. The banana matcha was amazing! Not too sweet, the matcha flavor was strong (i like it like that) and the cream tasted like fresh banana, not artificial at all. Strawberry was also delicious so I definitely am returning to try more drinks. read more

They are a new business that just opened in Arcadia mall! The matcha flavor was really strong with a lot of umami! I can tell it was really high quality and good if you don't like too sweet matcha Tbh the wait was long but they were very nice and a bit understaffed But the drinks were good so I recommend you give it a try! read more
This spot definitely seems to have picked up on the weekends because it was quite crowded. It's located near the promenade (Santa Anita Mall) in an area that's usually pretty quiet. It took us about 15 minutes to get our order, which wasn't bad considering how busy it was. I actually really enjoyed everything I got. Strawberry Mochi - So bomb! They even include a string to cut it in half. Delicious. (5/5) Kuromitsu Kinako Ice Cream Mochi Crepe - The crepe was fire! It came with vanilla ice cream and was simple yet delicious. (4.5/5) Strawberry Mont Blanc Parfait - Easily my favorite. It was so good, and the matcha flavors were strong. It comes with that cool stringy matcha on top, which also looks great. Highly recommend. (5/5) Sakura Foam Matcha Latte - Pretty good! Definitely one of the better matcha lattes I've had compared to other places. Flavorful but not overly sweet. Tasty. (4.5/5) If you love matcha, this place definitely hits the spot. Tons of mixed reviews here on yelp, but during my visit, everything tasted fresh and was made well. Since they're still relatively new, I'm guessing they're working out a few things -- but I think it'll only get better over time! read more
Got the Sakura Strawberry Daifuku. It was good! The strawberry was tart so it was a good balance with the sweet mochi. The Sakura candy on top, was okay, it was very sweet. It was strange that the staff didn't offer to give me the receipt and crumbled it quickly. If you need a receipt, be sure to ask soon after you pay. read more
