Old gas station converted to an ice cream shop. I love the prices at the pumps. Too bad they aren't working like that anymore. I saw a couple people getting the milky bun. It looked great, but not knowing anything about it, I went for my usual old folk style ice cream in a cup so as to not over calorie myself. It's fun sitting outside in the evening. The streets are fairly quiet. So it's peaceful. Overall a great place to treat your loved ones. They can also be found at the LA County Fair in May. I tried the Dubai Chocolate bar at the Fair. It was my first Dubai Chocolate experience. I don't know what all the fuss is about. Overpriced fad if you want my opinion. read more

Afters Ice Cream - Cookie butter Double Scoop - Desserts Near Me - Pasadena, California

Have been coming for years but it's always a different experience depending on the staff. However one thing that is always the same is that they never want to give a bag when we say it's to go. This time I said it's to go when ordering I was told "of course". When the order was complete the cups with lids were shoved out the window at us with one falling on the ground with no concern. We asked for a bag after the cup dropped and the server seemed annoyed. No second thought for the cup that they dropped on the ground. All ordered were 1 scoop and 1 topping and definitely different serving sizes of the ice cream. read more

Love visiting this little outdoor ice cream shop when I'm on Green St. in Pasadena. This corner location shares parking with a tea house and is super cute because it looks like an old school gas station. The vibe is cute, and it's family friendly. Quick service and lots of people watching opportunities. They have cute outdoor sitting benches, and lots of shade. The ice cream is good, also. read more

Still thinking about Afters days after my visit. It's like a scoop of heaven in a cup. Cookie butter flavor topped with Oreo crumbs is simply heavenly! They offer so many tempting flavors (strawberry cookie crunch, milk & cereal, Cookie Monster, etc.), that I was glad they told me in advance I can try samples. Great customer service. Also amazing ice cream. The parkour is outdoors, and super cute. I also appreciate the fact that they have an indoor place you can enjoy after receiving your order. Since it was a rainy evening, we sat indoors and had a great "afters" treat post dinner. read more

Good late night place to get ice cream. My favorite combo from afters is milky bun with jasmine milk tea and fruity pebbles combo. Dangerous combo but super good. Beware lots of sugar tho. The donut , ice cream, and cereal goes well together. The fruity pebble gives it some crunch as well. Only outdoor seat with very limited parking but there's street parking. read more

Stopped by Afters yesterday after eating a late lunch/early dinner. I had the coffee flavored ice cream and the milk & cereal. I love how you can do half & half. It's a cool gas station looking place, and the server was friendly and helpful too. We'll definitely be back! read more

Decided to come here after dinner because our son had been telling us we needed to try it out. Even though there was a long line out the door, it actually moved pretty fast! There was only one person working the counter and serving the whole crowd, but they were definitely hustling. They have a lot of really funky and unique flavors to choose from. We ended up trying the Cookie Monster (served in a donut!) and the Ube. Both were really solid--the ice cream is high quality and definitely explains why this place is so popular. The process is simple: you just pay on the iPad and then grab your ice cream. Definitely a cool spot to check out if you're in Pasadena and looking for a sweet treat! read more

I came here after a big lunch at Langer's with the parentals or the "elders" as they like to call themselves. My parents are weird! Anyways, they checked into the hotel and want to get some cardio in after a big lunch. I was looking for somewhere for Ice Cream nearby where they were staying. I found Afters which was conveniently located close by. I didn't tell my parents that there was ice cream nearby as I was afraid they would shoot down the idea as they still like to control me. We arrived at Afters to find a cute little ice cream shop in a repurposed gas station. Love the venue! I asked the "elders" if they would like some ice cream, but they politely declined as they were still full from lunch. I'm forever indecisive and asked to try some flavors of ice cream before ultimately deciding on Mint Monster. Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream is my all-time favorite flavor. The sample that I tried was delish. I got a scoop in a cup to-go. I started to take pictures of the ice cream for this review before I could finish taking pictures. My Mother is hovering next to me waiting to pounce on the ice cream. That's why we call her the Seagull! She grabs an extra spoon to sample the ice cream for herself. I told her that I could get her a cup of ice cream, but she's perfectly content with eating mine instead. Before I knew it, Dad wanted some too. Alas, I finally got an opportunity to try my ice cream. It was great, btw! I will definitely be back to try some other flavors. Luckily, the "elders" live in Florida and I'll be taking the wife and son with me next time. They won't refuse their own cup of ice cream and I'll have more to myself. read more

Fun flavors - seems that a lot of their flavors are based around chunky textured ingredients like cookies and brownies. I enjoyed the ube brownie and Cookie Monster. Good flavors, not too sweet, and the cookie chunks are decent sized. I got the small size, and it looked funny in the waffle cone. It's not that much cheaper than getting ice cream at Salt and Straw, which I think has the better quality when it comes to ingredients. read more

Delicious ice cream with fun flavors! I usually get the coffee flavor but opted for the salted Oreo and it didn't disappoint. The ice cream shop that is almost exclusively responsible for my "quarantine 15" is the conveniently open-late (until midnight!) and mouth-watering Afters Ice Cream. I know what you are asking yourself? What came before Afters? Well, other name-worthy contenders but nothing as jam-packed flavorful, relatively affordable ($8/$9 a pint) and timeless ice cream options like Jasmine Tea, Ube, etc. (Note: I don't believe there is a vegan selection). My all time favorite is Dark Matter - a black-colored chocolate with even more chocolate (brownie chunks) kind-of ice cream. You really can't go wrong with any of the flavors. Sample one or three and enjoy! read more

1st time at this location. It's really cute but looks like a play house. The staff is really nice but they don't really clean the tables. The ice cream is always delicious but this location is limited on options specially non-dairy options. read more

The good: - The woman working the truck was really nice and offered many samples. - There is plenty of outdoor sitting - The ice cream itself was pretty good, creamy and not too sweet The less good: - There is a lack in variety (only around 10 flavors) - The portions are small, despite being relatively pricey - The ice cream (at least ours) arrived half melted, maybe because it was a really hot day in Pasadena - The tables are not kept clean due to them being outside and so it's up to the customer to clean them during the day Overall this location isn't bad and is definitely not a wrong choice for ice cream, there are just things to consider about the experience. read more

Wow!!!!! I got super lucky to have discovered this amazing little ice cream shop while working in Pasadena this week. I have stopped by twice so far... perhaps have time and space in my belly for one more trip!! Huge portions! Incredibly rich and flavorful ice cream, blended with cookies and other sweet things. Mellow R&B tunes playing against a backdrop reminiscent of the 50's (gas station pumps and all) made this place give me all the feels. We happened to luck out and got there before the rush on a Saturday evening. The employee was so nice and let us sample the flavors we wanted. My family loved it here. We ordered: Mango Sorbet x2 (one with gummy bears that weren't expired!), Cookie Monster, and Jasmine Milk Tea (with Afters Flakes- salted corn flakes). Everyone loved their scoops. Great outdoor ice cream spot on Green Street. The parking lot is tiny but there's plenty of street parking. They have outdoor benches to sit on and has kind of a retro vibe. Came out to about $10 but was enough to share for two people. read more

My wife ordered the milky bun . She was told by the guy with a mustache an employee that they were completely out of them. And so we ordered something else. We were seating right in front of the store , then a few teenage girls came and ordered the same thing , and the guy actually went to the back and grabbed some buns for them ! Great hidden spot in Pasadena with amazing ice cream with unique flavors. I had the milky bun which is a honey bun split in half with ice cream in the middle. A hot bun and cold ice cream in the middle. It was amazing. I joked with a friend if epicurean delight and decadence had a baby, this would be it. Very cool ambience as it is an old gas station and service is perfect. Try the Ube ice cream. A must try if you are in Pasadena. read more

Date of visit: October 25, 2023 Selections: Cookie Butter and Dark Matter Brownie Batter Experience: Second time coming here with the first being a long time ago, so it was a nice surprise coming to this location with the hubby and friends and realizing I've been here before lolz I was stuck between two flavors and luckily my husband wanted the other one I wanted, so we shared a double scoop of Cookie Butter and Dark Matter Brownie Batter. We sat across the way from where we got our ice cream in an inclosed seating area with Jimmy Fallon playing on the screen as we ate and chatted with our double dates. The ice creams were creamy and packed with flavor with Cookie Butter being my favorite. I just love having chunks of what I was eating mixed into the ice cream since I like having different textures in what I eat. read more

Afters is that little late night treat you need after a tough day to put a smile on your face. It's decadent and sweet (some flavors on the extra sweet side). The craminess is pretty good, never tasting 'icy.' I like the cookie monster flavor and their version of mint chocolate chip! I've tried the ice cream sandwich in the milky bun and is definitely a sweetness overload. The bun is not super soft that I imagined. I would personally skip this add on. read more

Satisfied with my ice cream craving. I try to look for a non-artificial tasting vegan ice cream and I think I found the spot. I don't believe the flavor was listed on the board but after asking if they had vegan flavors, the employee gave me 2 options. I opted for the Chocolate Chip Cookie... it was fantastic! No artificial after taste or chalky consistency, it felt like I was eating dairy based ice cream. My parents ordered the Milky Bun with cinnamon toast crunch and a Mint Monster on a waffle cone. They enjoyed their dessert so much they were sitting in silence like little kids. We arrived around 2PM on a Saturday and there wasn't a line. People were sitting around with their ice cream and customers were coming and going quickly. Ice cream came out fast and the employee had great energy. Location is cute and traffic wasn't a bother. read more

What can you improve first time coming to this place or business or ice cream shop, was ok or overpriced overrated , people or customer service , the two girls working there were extremely rude music was loud blasting music that should have not been playing for a business I could barely hear them and I'm sure they can barely here me but when I asked what they would recommend since it was my first time there it's ice cream so how about some details elaborate a little what's on your Sundays or floats or milkshakes what type or flavors do you have, here's the menu if you know how to read wow if i know how to read great job at insulting me , and way overpriced for two scoops of ice cream I could have got at the market not impressed at all with this place at all what topping do you have what flavors it's toppings and it's ice cream what do you recommend just look at the menu it's just basic stuff on there she replied order or don't I got the coffee ice cream named The Saigon Coffee nothing Vietnamese or Saigon about it it was ok I have had way better coffee ice cream at other places it was way overpriced and overrated and people were extremely rude no people skills no customer service experience what so ever and no retail no restaurant service skills at all not friendly at all they wanted to get rid of me , no small talk no how are you doing just what do you want what are you getting here the menu no recommendations , can't sell anything your business skills suck you are selling ice cream so sell me the experience the great service so I don't say it's overrated and overpriced convince me of how great and different this ice cream is and better than the rest of the other ice cream shops or restaurants. My husband and I were walking around the neighborhood talking pictures of the beautiful spring flowers and trying to catch the painted sky sunset on our stroll. Suddenly we both spotted a cute little ice cream shop with a couple of people enjoying their treats outside. We each ordered a scoop. I chose Saigon Coffee topped with gummy bears (don't judge me) and he opted for the bright blue Cookie Monster flavor. The scoops were quite large and the ice cream was creamy and had the perfect flavor and sweetness. The Cookie Monster flavor is a vanilla base with lots of crushed up cookies inside and a true Cookie Monster hue that does Sesame Street proud. The shop had a couple of outdoor tables with umbrellas if you want to eat there. We ate ours on the walk back home. I know it was good because before I was able to snap a picture I had finished my cup. I love coffee ice cream and this one was particularly delicious. The only problem I see is that this shop is walking distance from my home and they are open really late (until midnight on a weeknight) which may tempt me to eat ice cream even more often than I already do. In all seriousness, I am happy we stumbled upon this gem because they have a nice selection of flavors and good quality ice cream just puts me in a great mood! As someone who makes her own ice cream regularly, I have high standards when it comes to frozen desserts. While they offer fun and creative flavors, there is nothing too fancy that it will scare off those who appreciate a quality cup of vanilla. Looking forward to trying more flavors in the near future. read more

This is so comedic-- my 2 friends and I arrived at 11:58pm. We understand it is 2 min before closing but we decided to try anyways to see our chances. We get to the counter and the employee started taking our order. However, the employee behind him said "we're actually closed" and the employee taking our order repeated the same thing out of fear? I understand that we came at last minute and we hate to be those people-- but we were ready to order as soon as we arrived. I would understand if the employee immediately turned us away, but he only turned away our order because another employee seemed annoyed. This only happened because the 2 men in front of us took a while to order which caused us to order past midnight. Terrible customer service in my opinion. I would have never treated guests like this. Most places will take orders from the last people in line. After not only took our orders but didn't seem to feel bad about it. I used to work in food industry, and this is not the way I would treat guests ever. read more
